Then came Sangamam , as usual, Rahman let his work do all the talking. This album is an absolute masterpiece. A album I would cherish for the rest of life. Just cant get over this album..Its amazing. I can just thank Rahman for filling our lives with happiness and joys with his music. Thank You Sir !!!

Just cnt get enuff of this album...10 mindblowin songs...n each a gem! Ishq Ada is reminiscent of the 60's era with a lot of Latin/Spanish influence. But the beauty of the song lies in composing...its a complicated tune with 3 diff.ragas... starts off with Pilu (reminds me of numerous Naushad compositions like Pyar kiya to darna kya...), goin on to Madhuwanti n finally to Todi. Hats off 2 ARR...the soul is Indian while the embellishments Western! Special credit to newcomer Parul Mishra...very diff.tonal quality, perfect for the song! Also luvd Hawa sun hawa..m sure those who admire ARR's work will agree with this. Its vintage stuff...the flute interludes remind me of Anjali Anjali n many more from that era.Sonu n Alka's rendering with beautiful chords is just the recipe of a perfect melody. Hai dard is a suprise...is a conventional sad song...the prelude is not wut u usually hear in a sad song...it has a lot of attitude. The arrangement needs special mention. Again its a very complicated tune with lots of Middle-eastern musical infulence.Udit hs dun a gud job. Meherbaan is easy on the ears,starts of with typical ARR piano goes on to a nice pop-balladish song.In recent times, lot of ARR songs like Ek mohabbat, Pray for me brother r like this. Its instantly likeable...n gr8 use of Guitars. Wut I luvd abt Mujhe milo wahan is its resemblance to the climax bgm of Kannathil.I hd adord that piece when i hd seen the film...hd tears in my eyes. Years later, a brilliant tune based the same bgm. The entire song hs a Madan Mohan influence. ARR is quite inspired by the composer (me 2!). If u hear Madanji's compositions like Woh bhooli dastaan,Aap ki nazron ne samjha, Aaj socha to aansoo bhar aaye,Rasm-e-ulfat, etc,u'll agree. It has a strong Ghazal feel to it. Only thing, I found Jayachandran's voice a bit shaky. Sonu or Hariharan wud hv been an ideal choice. Alka hs dun justice to the song, the strings section is amazing! The other songs r also gud,Gumsum is a complete commercial number with a qawwali feel, Gulfisha a party/pub song, n Tu mera hai is ARR in the 90's. I think Ada is a gift to us from ARR.dunno how the movie will fare...but ARR made it sure the music reach its destination! swaps

That was the day when we all unanimously agreed that our lives wud be totally meaningless mundane without ARR's magical music. We summed up the gathering by having a good meal...each one taking home the memories of this wonderful experience of knowing new people rediscovering ARR! Thanx to all fans who participated also those who cudnt due to their personal or professional committments. But we want to continue meeting atleast once a month or in 2 months. Hii I liked ur suggestions but JA is set in the 16th century when Khayal,Thumri,Mujra had not yet evolved. The only classical music that was present was the DHRUPAD. Tansen,Baiju Bawra were the musical representatives of that era. Dhrupad was mostly sung in temples or royal courts in praise of Lord or king. Remember Tansen singing Raga Deepak to lighten Akbar's court or Miyan Malhar creatng a downpour. Dhrupad was only accompanied by a Pakhawaj or Rudra Veena. Listen to the recordings of Gundecha Brothers, Dagar brothers or Uday Bhawalkar to get an idea of the music. Coming bk to Topic, wud hv been really gr8 if ARR composed a pure Dhrupad song as it has never been used in any film till now. Listen to Naina Neer and Bangari Marori from Water or Ishwar Allah from Earth..feel the magic of the divine Tanpura as the drone backdrop. I wish at least one song had it. Also miss the Sarangi. It fleetingly appeared for 2-3 seconds beautifully in the beginning of the In Lamho song, but never to be heard again! Also wished more Sitar was used other than the brief interlude in In Lamho. Ok, I admit, I am basically wishing for my fantasy album! I'm not really upset or bothered too much that these wishes didn't come to pass. Though it may not be the acoustic harp...ARR is master of modifying the sound. He must hv changed the tone to make it sound different. Even in the song Munbe Vaa, he's used a diff.Harp tone. He's a genius when it comes to Sound Mastering! Hii As told by UTV, the latest news is that Jodha-Akbar might be delayed. There's a lasvish song shooting to be completed in 1st week of Sept with 2500 dancers. This wud be the last shooting as the film is complete. Post-production is on full-swing. UTV is waiting for Ashutosh for the approval of the trailers. Meanwhile, UTV is enetering into audio market with their own label. JA may release on UTV music. The date hsnt been finalised yet but OCT 12 seems difficult for release. May rel Oct end or Nov. The production house is still unclear. Keep an eye on channels for promos every Sunday! [arr] Sad news...Jodha-Akbar may get postponed to Jan 08!
The latest buzz in the industry is about Jodha-Akbar's release being postponed to Jan 2008. Earlier it was suposed to release on Oct.12.UTV,the producers, informed that there has been a delay in shooting schedules since its canvas is very large the post production will take atleast 3-4 months. Most of the songs have yet to be picturised. Ashutosh Gowariker,who's currently shooting in Karjat,was unavailable for comments. There have been logistics n financial problems hence the release may be postponed. Another reason is that many big banner movies will be releasing during Diwali like Saanwariya,Laga Chunri mein Daag,Aaja Nachley,etc.No official date has been declared yet but the delay in release is unavoidable. Wut a joke..on one hand we r tryin to get in touch with Eros Music to release the OST of Provoked desparately, on other hand, I come across the pirated Mp3s of film songs on the streets. I just bought it seeing Provoked on it. It has 4 songs from Karen's David's album...Alive,Carry me home,Shillong Save me. Alive to my surprise is the full 4.21mins version.The quality is also quite good, rest r ok. Save me is a new song, which no one must hv heard. Its a slow paced song. Interestingly, Carry me home has tabla n violins A true Indo-western fusion. But the main concern here is how do these guys get the source??? Its a pity... Hii Just spoke to the Marketing Head of Eros Music...its a pity they r not thinking of releasing the Audio of Provoked. He said there r only 2 songs (1 Eng, 1 Hindi) the rest r bgms..but they've not yet recd any Bgms from ARR or the director. So, they r still waiting to decide. He said that the songs cud release as a compilation sum time later with another movie. Thats really stupid!!! I strongly feel, they shd rel it as an OST. The same was dun with 'Eklavya'. It had only 2 songs n others were theme music. They released it after the film. They r not yet sure...so lets hope for the best! I made my way there to find many people doing the same, some of them being Mr. Srinivasa Krishnan of Global Rhythms, Sridhar Subramaniam of Sony BMG, Naresh Iyer, executives from WorldSpace and Saregama and producers from the Tamil industry whom I did not recognize. I could see gifts of flowers from a host of people from the industry - Subhash Ghai, Udit and Deepa Narayan, Rajkumar Santoshi, Bharat and Kanika, Chinmayee, Radio Mirchi, Radio City were some names that I managed to spot amidst the sea of bouquets in the studio. ARR's right hand men Noell James, Sivakumar, Swamidorai, Faiz and H. Sridhar were also in attendance. We were soon joined by ARR's mother, daughters, son, wife and sisters and others in the family. I soon realized that simplicity and humility runs through every brick and body in his home and studio. ARR still hadn't turned up and his mother insisted that we must have lunch and we were ushered back into his home where ARR joined us. Soon director Shankar and family, Kathir, Krishna (of SOK), Praveenkanth made their way in. After lunch we made our back to the studio, were ARR took us to a large studio room on the 2nd floor and screened the video of Pray For Me Brother. I am still searching for words to describe the multiple exhilarating emotions that passed through me as I watched the video. Nothing we have heard so far in the live performances truly captures the brilliance of the recorded song. Who else, but ARR, could have an Indian classical harmony accompanying a rap segment? Following this, both ARR and his son Ameen, who also celebrates his birthday on the same day, cut the cake jointly. While his son wanted to cut his special 'Spiderman' shaped cake, ARR decided his simpler cake was more appropriate :-) Coming to the crux of my visit, it was the time after the birthday cake was distributed and everyone was leisurely seated around the studio that I chose to hand the cheque over to ARR. I wish I could say, 'Did we spring a surprise on ARR or what!' But ARR instead sprang a surprise on me! He looked visibly moved and said 'I have been telling these folks what you guys have been doing.' I went, Huh? And his response was, 'I was on the group last night and saw all these messages about a collection drive. You guys are increasing my responsibilities now'. I quickly assured him that he could count on our support in anything that he wanted to do. he then handed the cheque over to his mother and introduced me to the rest of the people there. He then asked, 'Don't you want a picture?'. I joked, 'I would like you to say a few words or else all the folks would think I made off with the money'. He

Very few must have noticed he's compsed Roshan hui raat from Sapnay in a 5-beat metre (taka takita) in that too there r some portions where the song goes off-beat n returns to the 'sum'. Another master piece is the 1st interlude of Jiya jale. The entire song goes in 2/4-metre (8)..but in the interlude he xperiments with diff taal structres fom 6/8 to 5/8 n so. Also Adhisayam from Paarthale Paravasam...gosh! Thats one helluva song in terms of taal. 7/8,5/8,6/8...the meter keeps on changing...n u actually hv to concentrate n listen to when it comes to the sum. Bombay Theme(Naveen's version)...it has a western opera start3. Mohana (Typically carnatic with mridangam,veena n ghatam...also it has resemblences to Nenthukitten frm Star n Theekkuruvi frm KKS)4. Chennai Rain(totally inspired by vintage ARR..u'll remember folk tunes frm Karuthamma,KC,P.Mannargal,etc)5. Jiya jale (quite diff frm original...it has harps, piano n subtle percussions)6. Symphony (total western symphony..u'll rem titan ad)7. First Light (Very Hindustani...blend of many morning ragas like Bhairav,Bhatiyar,Ahir Bhairav,Puriya Dhanashree,etc)8. Dil se - Performed by ARR. Chorus by singers of GR. Needless to say, Awesome!! Yuva - Performed by GR singers. Again awesome stuff. ARR pitched in. This was one time I actually thought he was really jumpy. I loved it. Classical performance - aalap/ taraana by Srinivas Krishnan and Patrick Hernly. Awesome. Chale Chalo - Aah! Gorgeous performance. It was a live version and every single person on stage was involved in the performance. Towards the end of the song, where the pace of the song picks up, that was given shape on the stage by thunderous claps by the groups on stage. Heavenly. Vande Mataram - As I had mentioned, no ARR concert is complete without it. Singers on the stage were swaying their hands and did complete justice to the song during the chorus. The lead was done by ARR (of course!) When they began playing and singing this one, everyone was on their feet. I had tears in my eyes. I have not been able to decide why exactly there were tears. Whether it was because I was watching ARR perform 'Vande Mataram' right in front of me or it was because this meant the concert was coming to an end. Though involuntary, the emotions were high. The concert ended and people parted. We lingered around for a bit hoping to catch a glance of The Man, but in vain. In my opinion, this was worth every single penny that we had spent on it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was truly a completely ARR concert. This is ARR's dream to bridge people with the power of music. And what we saw last night was definitely a great beginning. Here is one man who lives by what he says. And if we call ourselves his fans, I think it makes complete sense to support him in his dream. Take the energy and love towards music of ARR and times it by 150. That's how the evening was. ARR was having a great time. The Global Rhythm group is a highly highly talented group. We all know how difficult it is to sing even a single ARR song properly. These people were non- Indians who were so great with his compositions. It is definitely not a kids' play. Who else has the power to make 150 non- Indians sing in hindi and tamil? Who else has the capacity to attract all thousands of people? Music truly has no boundaries. ARR is a living proof of that and so is his music. I wish I could meet him in person and tell him all this. But I consider myself lucky for being able to see him twice in less than 2 years and that too in the U.S. And I am so very much in love with ARR and music all over again. Mararanjini, 26th mela Charukesi as u said and 27th mela Sarasangi.
Theeyilhas a very constructive melody which requires attentive listening to understand its structure. Now let's
indulge :
The Caranam pure uses all notes denoting
raga vasanti.

good. high pitch female voice is suprising and rendered effetively. very nice to hear. lyrics are catchy either. quite rhymical. compeltely unexpected song fromt the musical whizkid. man, the oaah aah thing is comepletely mesmerising. i am currently hearing to that song simultaneously as i pen this song's review. also check out the first musical interlude 01:32 - 02:01 - the one which was used int the trailor. it's musically very catchy. also the instances when the female voice chews the kamma kamma alternatively is very new and refreshing. the fact i would like to stress here is "musical elements have been added to the pace of each song"... also check out the aaah oaaahh when naresh and the female singer sings simultaneously. totally a powerful composition. a song with a definite energy... going to ROCK everyone for sure... the song also has a cheeky ending too.. check that out! deepavali (kothapuram) - 05:20 mins kids voice have some role to play in this song. "thinam thinam depavali" sung by the singer is routing rendition. s, it is... the flute from 0:25 - 0:33 is superb. lyrics - completely verving. when the kids sing "ithu thothapuram doi" it's nice and refreshing to hear. also the nee than pa alaap in the middle of the song - man, simply rejuvenating. ehar this song in a CD-man, with headphones u will find the additional programming where the musical bits run right to left. this adds random beauty to the song. musical percussions in the lines of the previous song - kamma kamma. this definitely does not mean that both are similar or some sort of it.. NOTHING like that. both songs are in the conventional genre handling wisely by the musical genius. it should have the demand from the director to have songs to meet the expectations of the public in the current film industry songs (plainly - to have some masala songs in the end of the film to hook the viewers to the seat)... the beauty is that these songs cen % have a rahmanical touch. (MY) VERDICT: unique variety in each song. i dont think so there could be other type of song that couls be inveloved in any musical. it has melody, rap, remix, transcending sad song, most importantly carnatic, and then 2 masala songs... what more one would expect to make a musical album wholesome? most most most importantly, all have the tendency to catch the genes of the listners and make them hum a certain part of the song in the very first hearing of the song... A R RAHMAN RULES A R RAHMAN ROCKS. A R RAHMAN RAISES TO MUSICAL STARDOM HOPE U GUYS LIKED MY REVIEW... ASINCERE REQUEST: please dont post irresponsible comments in the group before hearing to the song. i have many examples where the ones who said the music of RDB is average and later writing music of RDB rocks... y to follow it? allow the music to grow on u and then write ur comments. keep in mind, the musical genius has said that he goes through the mails in the group. so if he sees some irresponsible comments, imagine how disheartened he would feel? making music is extremelyyy difficult. just sit in a corner to write few lines and then make some tune to it. that will make u feel how difficult is music composition is. so, please be a sincere part of this great group. i never focus to be harsh on anyone.. thanx a lot.
