Re: [arr] ARR & Sachin!!

2010-03-02 Thread Mohamed Amin
I never stressed that this is convent. My point is whats the use in trying to
point out similarities about ARR & Sachin in this forum. They are both legends
in their own way but doesnt warrant a lot of discussion about them in
this group. If you want to discuss their similarities, you are free to start
another group called ARR & Sachin as this group is purely for ARR and his
music. Not for anything else.

Huh? I don't think anyone here tried to compare Rahman and Sachin. It's quite
the opposite. What they are pointing out is 'similarities' . They are legends
in their own field, they belong to the same era, and icons on Young India and
have brought cheer and pride to the nation. There are millions of people who
are big fans of both these legends and I don't see anything wrong in this
thread.

I agree if you have an issue about people comparing Rahman with other composers.

Chill dude! This is not a convent with strict disciplines. People should be
allowed to express what they feel, as far as it's related to Rahman. If you
don't like a thread, there's a delete button available to your rescue :)

I am not sure whether this group is for ARR or for comparing ARR and Sachin. I
always find that some people in this group doing this. This is not now but its
been happening some time. Please do understand that this place is for ARR and
his music. For comparing Sachin, this is not the right forum. Neither ARR can
become Sachin nor Sachin can become ARR. They are both two dynamic individuals
demonstrating their prowess in their own skill sets.

Please refrain from comparing ARR and Sachin in this forum. I have been a

the vital energy of this group. Always someone comparing ARR with Ilayaraja or

MJ's statue from India could grace Neverland

Indo-Asian News Service
Bangalore, February 06, 2010
First Published: 11:41 IST(6/2/2010)
Last Updated: 12:07 IST(6/2/2010)

   Print
Over seven months after his death, Michael Jackson is etched in the hearts of
millions of fans - and also in 12 feet of black granite that its maker plans to
ship to the late king of pop's Neverland Ranch in California.
The statue is drawing curious crowds at the ninth International Granites &
Stone Fair  being held in the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (AIEC),
about 20 km from here.
"It's a personal tribute to the greatest pop singer of our times! He lives in
our hearts as he was on stage for years," R. Chandrasekaran, managing director
of RC Golden Granites Ltd, told IANS.
As a diehard follower of the American singer who died suddenly June 25 last
year, Chandrasekaran, 40, plans to gift the 3.5-tonne statue carved out of
black granite to Jackson's estate in California. Jackson's sprawling estate is
located at the Neverland Valley Ranch in Santa Barbara County. The rock singer
lived there from 1988 to 2005.
"I have written to Jackson's family that I want to donate the statue for
installing it in his famous estate. I will bear the freight charge, which is
about $2,500," an elated Chandrasekaran said, while spectators thronged his
company's stall to touch and feel the legendary singer in awe.
The Chennai-based granite firm spent a whopping $25,000 (Rs.1.2 million) in
sculpting the statue out of a single block of huge rock that was quarried from
a mine near Kanakapura, about 50 km from Bangalore.
"We employed six artisans to chisel the granite into Jackson's shape in 45 days
at our factory in Kancheepuram. As black granite is brittle, the aesthetic art
work was a test of patience, diligence and skill. His face and eyes were the
most challenging as we wanted the statue to be expressive and poignant,"
Chandrasekaran said.
The company plans to ship the statue to the US west coast by next month after
the family's consent in writing for securing clearances.
This is not the first time the four-year-old export firm has carved a statue
for an icon, as it had sculpted a skeleton in black and white granite last year
in aid of the campaign against smoking launched by former central health
minister Anbumani Ramadoss.
"We specialise in sculpting exquisite monuments, statutes and other artefacts
carved out of granite rocks, which are the oldest geological formations on
earth. All our creations are exported to European customers on order,"
Chandrasekaran noted.
The skeleton statute, seated on black granite and titled "Hell's Preferred
Citizen", was displayed at the Granite Monument Stone Fair in February 2009 in
Chennai and at a fair against tobacco products in Mumbai, March 2009.
"The statue, dedicated to the anti-smoking campaign, has been installed at
Nirman Bhavan in New Delhi where the health ministry is housed," Chandrasekaran
noted.
As a music lover, Chandrasekaran also plans to create a statue dedicated to
music maestro A.R. Rahman, who won two Oscars and two Grammys for the
film Slumdog Millionaire.
"We will take Rahman's consent for making a granite statue in a pose and colour
of his choice. At such a young age, he has brought so much fame and acclaim to
our country from the world over," Chandrasekaran said.
Besides Jackson's statue, the four-day expo during Feb 4-7 is showcasing a Taj
Mahal and a statue of Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in granite created
and displayed by other companies.

Re: [arr] Lyrics by Karunanidhi.. Music by ARR

2010-01-30 Thread Mohamed Amin
I guess, Mannipaya interlude which has Tirukural will be a prelude for this
kind of song. I am sure ARR will give fitting music for this beautiful words by
Kalaignar. I really was thinking that ARR will try to use veteran singer T.M.
Soundararajan to sing these verses along with P. Susheela and other veteran
singers whose dictions are rarity now a days. Since these song is for posterity
and will be sung in all government functions from its inception, ARR is the apt
choice to do justice for his mother tongue. Sun TV's Kalanidhi Maran is
instrumental in roping ARR for this song. Otherwise it could have gone to
someother composer. Yet another working by ARR for current and future
generations.

tks with regards,
Amin

[arr] VTV - Music has been sculptured bit by bit by ARR and Gowtham

2010-01-11 Thread Mohamed Amin
After hearing the music, I find only word to describe is this soundtrack has
been sculptured with innovation bit by bit. No song has the feel that it has
been hurriedly composed. I think ARR took his own sweet time to perfect the
tracks. End result is astonishing. Really ARR brought the tamil songs to
international level in this album and he has gone to next level after academy
awards. We can find every bit of internationalization in this track. We wish
that ARR produces such gems time and again in future for us. Thamarai's lyrics
are unadulterated tamil. I am enjoying every bit of the soundtrack now.

Tks ARR for treating us time after time with your innovative compositions.

Hi All,

Does anyone have idea about the singer who sang the initial part of the song?
Its a female part. Rendition reminds me of legendary singer K.B.Sundarambal,
obviously nowhere near to her. Credits mention about Harini and Sangeetha. (Who
is Sangeetha?)

Thanks,

I think, the best way is to ignore people's comment and do our things in right
way. Sometimes, some people need attention and thats where they utter these

We shouldnt even give a damn to these kind of statements. ARR doesnt need to

Naturally, some people are bound to have jealousy over him and cant digest. So

The song lyrics are by Vaali. It seems appropriate for the movie ('Azhagar

Carolyn  - Thee Thee Thithikkum Thee (Thiruda Thiruda)

Thumba Raja -  Thee Thee Thithikkum Thee (Thiruda Thiruda)
Thumba Raja plays Indian-percussion and is a regular in Rahman's team, and is
the father of Krishna Chetan, Rahman's keyboard player and programmer and the
man behind remixes like Pon Magal vandhaal, Pappu etc..
I think this is his only song in which Thumba Raja was a singer.

Sivamani - Love check (Parthale Paravasam)
I think this was the only song he was credited as a singer. The "thir-gidha-
tha" bit in Vaaji Vaaji sounds like his voice, but am not sure as it is not
credited!

Ah! To even recollect ARR' s initial journey during early 90's, it gives me
immense pleasure and makes me sail back to those vintage days..where. .i
was unconciously inclined towards music only because of this wonder man, A R
Rahman..! He is the most primary reason for the transition towards Musical
world for me...:)

This time..i chose "May Maadham"..,  an album with its great melody and
Rahman's signature sheen its full glory and pomp.! I hold this album to be one
of ARR's most spectacular works ever..!!! But i am utterly disappointed by the
fact that this entire album did not do great among the masses. I guess...only
due to this fact, ARR thought of recreating the same magical score for Hindi
audiences in "Love You Hamesha.." , but again failed to create sensation due to
the bad fate of the movie... :-(

1) Maarghazhi Poove >  Shobha Chandrashekar

( Same as Ek Ladki Thi from Love You Hamesha)

Can anybody confirm me that this singer (Shobha) is the mother of
popular actor Vijay..??? If so, i wonder why she didnt continue her singing for
long time..? Nevertheless, comng to the song, it begins with a great flute
aalap with a royal touch of "Kausalya Supraja Rama..." - the Suprabhata
chantings- as its backdrops along with the techno beats by Rahman..!! Call it
fusion/ remixgets ur ears a great morning dose of pleasure..!! ! Perfect
ringtone for the mobile phonesloved across south india...even some parts of
North!! Shobha delivers a first class rendition and also the chorus part is
enchanting.. ." Particularly, towards the end, Shobha and ARR gives us a
morning classical  feast to our ears!!!
An ever memorable Rahman's creation..!! !

 2) Palakkattu Machhanukku -> Shahul Hameed, G V Prakash Kumar

(Same as Botal Tod De in Love You Hamesha)

The demised Shahul Hameed croons this song towards the fag end
of his life along with ARR's own nephew GV Prakash, who's into music these
days..!!! One yearns for Shahul to listen more n more after listening to these
songs. Its a very modern, hep, peppy, trendy song! ARR exhibits his passion for
technology and western instruments in this song so clearly that one can
picturise by hearing.!! GV Prakash, with his very shrill and kiddish voice
provides a naughty atmosphere.
Vintage Techno Rahman at his Best

3) Madrasa Sutthi Paarka -> Swarnalatha, Shahul Hameed, Manorama

"Dr r .Drio Na Drio Drio..." Thus
goes the ever chirpy and every witty Manorama, the senior most Comedienne of
Southern Cinema. Thanks to ARR a million times...for having used her voice. The
highly acclaimed Swarnalatha begins her lines with an intention to roam around
the Madras city...great easy-go rendition by her...!! Shahul Hameed and even
GVP makes a cameo in the lines.."All- in-all hero". Manorama brings up a
great wittyness to the ARR tunes...!!
    A great jolly-go-happy song..!!!

4) En Mel Vizhunda > P. Jayachandran , Chitra

(Same as Gupchup Baatein from Love You Hamesha)

The legendary singers Chitra and Jayachandran unite to leave
behind a resplendent melody which also doubles as a lullaby. A perfect bed time
song to make your senses ease and relax after a tiresome day. Rahman's lillting
tunes soothes us to the core with Naveen's ever soothing flute piece, a
magnanimous Sitar piece and the ever inspiring rendition by the singer duo.
Vairamuttu's lines again shines as bright as diamond particularly in the
Antaras..."Mannai Thirandaal Neer Irukkum...En Manadhai Thirandaal Nee
Iruppai..." Absolute Wonder
A stunning melody alias lullaby...!! !

5) Aadipparu Mangattha -> Malgudi Shubha, Sunita Rao, GV Prakash Kumar

The "Paree Hu Main.." girl Sunita Rao makes her Tamil Debut with this
racy song about a local game involving the playing cards..!! Malgudi Shubha, as
usual n as expected provides a raunchy, rustic touch to this number. GVP mouths
few lines for the boy in the film. Though not  a very very memorable song, this
song certainly has some strange stuff that makes it special. Sunita Rao quite
fumbles with her Tamil dictions, as is expected out of her..!!!
  A feel nice song..!!

6) Minnale Nee  -> S P Balasubramanyam

How can i do justice in describing such a masterpiece by my
mere words..?? I bet even best critic writer in this world would fall short of
words to describe the experience he goes through when he listens to this
song..!! To such an extent i am amaz

[arr] ARR got emotional during the felicitation by Cine Music Union

2009-03-08 Thread Mohamed Amin
It was a rare sight to see the stalwarts of tamil music fraternity to come on
one stage. The highlight of the show is the felicitation of Bala Murali
Krishna, MSV and Ilayaraja.

Harris Jayaraj also spoke during the felicitation in which he said that he
started to play keyboard after seeing our ARR.

One thing in the show that all musicians came down to show the solidarity and
they openly praised ARR from bottom of their heart. Many emotional speeches.
During the speech by legendary singer S. Janaki in which she mentioned about
ARR's dad. During the moment, it was first time to see ARR got emotional and he
bowed down to wipe out the tears. MSV and Ilayaraja patted him. It was like
parents patting their child. Wonderful sight. I think lot of people in the
audience also got emotional. I am sure many of the people who were watching the
show also wold have got emotional.

Carnatic Maestro Bala Murali Krishna told that he feels like a father and ARR
as his son and felt so happy within himself. It was heartening to see the
purist of carnatic music praising ARR.

Totally unmatched felicitation show and I guess no other show can be like this
in felicitating ARR.

I feel it is ARR's greatest ballad.
Anyone feels so ?
There have been some awesome melodies from him.. like 'Thendrale' from Kadhal
Desam, 'Tu Bin Bataye' RDB.. but this one tops..
for the brilliant chords..and the range of notes.

Recently there was a bashing on Pyarelal was going on in this group just
because he spoke his opinion. I cant take it also. Lakshmikant-Pyarelal pair
have given us so many hit numbers in hindi. Also they composed for few tamil
numbers. As a matter of tribute to them, even our ARR has composed 'Ring Ring
Ringa' inspired from 'Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai'.

Again and again I request our group members to observe decorum of the group.
Opinions are welcome but not bashing otherwise this group can be equated into a
group without directions except bashing on people who speak otherwise.

I also expect that people in this group will start bashing me for expressing my

what I express. I hope this makes sense and this group will continue to focus
on ARR and his music.

hey Mohamed Amin, i couldnt agree more with u about the members now days are
rather rude towards some members when they speak something that the former
doesnt like. its never the same like in the earlier 2000s. wonder where are
those set of members went to. back in those days we can hardly see any members
using sarcasm or using share words like nowdays. even becoz of this kind of
attitudes in nowdays members in our group has made me limit my participation in
this group.i used to be an active user here with the id "jeansdi". nowdays all
i do is come here, read the news and leave.

i do hope members of learn to respect and love our very own frends here. we r
all brothers and sisters that r loving the same A.R.Rahman and his music. do
not look down or ridicule any1 of them. thank u.

Re: [arr] Ilayaraja hails Rahman as “phenom enal”

2009-03-03 Thread Mohamed Amin
Guys,

please remember what ARR has advised his fans about not to condemn or write ill
of other musicians.

No one can deny the genius of IR also. IR's story is also like the story of
Slumdog Millioinaire. Who in this group knows that during IR's first recording
the power went off. So what a rippling effect it could have been to that man's
confidence. Inspite of it, he rose and conquered the Tamil film music. Do
please remember that every person has their own talent. Its wrong from our part
to deroragete anyone.

The primary purpose of this group is to discuss ARR's music but not to abuse
anyone else. We must give credit to good music where its due even its not from
ARR.

As a person who in this group from the year 2000, I find lately that this group
is into bashing people whoever slightly speaks in different tune. Hope all the
members adhere to the recent advice by ARR.

tks with regards,
Mohamed Amin

There is nothing wrong in saying that every Tamilian is proud for ARR winning
an OSCAR.

As a Tamilian I am proud of my language and proud of ARR for contributing so
much for Tamil music and world music.

As an Indian I am proud of my country for accepting all languages and all
culture and all religion.

These are not contradictory.

Every one should be proud of his achievement.

Guys,

any of you has the collection of Vairamuthu's poems with ARR's music? It was
shown in Jaya TV during his initial days for the period of 13 weeks. I think
its right after Duet. Also ARR composed special theme music for one of the
Jaya's functions.

For the last 15 minutes of the interview, ARR was asked to compose
something for the Sun TV viewers on occasion of Pongal. It was the
first time (and last time i think) that ARR produced LIVE music .
Couple of "Nadaswaram" and "Thavil" people were there in his studio
and ARR gave them the swarams in verbal and asked them to play, and
he recorded them as they played (This was done 2-3 times after some
corrections) . He also gave notations to the Thavil person which was
awesome to watch. In the end, ARR mixed it completely and played it
for the viewers which was a TREAT to watch.

[arr] Musicians in harmony shower Rahman with rhapsodies

2009-03-01 Thread Mohamed Amin
Guys,

please stop abusing others music. This is the strong message sent out by ARR.

http://www.hindu.com/2009/03/02/stories/2009030257350200.htm

Report from the daily The Hindu:

To the scores of musicians, who extolled the musical talent of A.R.Rahman on
Sunday, and to the rest of world, the Oscar-winner had just one thing to say:
“Music is oneness. Abusing each other in a music industry is unhealthy. I
request my fans to stay away from degrading someone else’s composition because
every work is worth its effort.”
As the audience, who were freezing the moments on cameras, looked up to hear
more, he continued: “This award belongs to every person in the music industry.
God just had selected me to collect this on behalf of you all.”
A piercing applause rounded off the felicitation function for the Academy
Award-winner that organised by the Cine Musicians’ Union.
Veteran Carnatic musician M. Balamurali Krishna, said the award was a
recognition of Rahman’s musical creativity and hard work. Producer A.V.M.
Saravanan recalled the chartbuster days of ‘Minsara Kanavu’ and the more-recent
‘Sivaji,’ composed by Rahman, and said both the musical albums played a major
role in the movies’ success.
He expressed optimism that veterans in the film industry such as
M.S.Viswanathan and Vaali will be honoured justly for their immense
contribution to the industry.
Tracing the journey of music in Tamil films, Director K. Balachander said his
Oscar took the Indian films to a global stage. Films like ‘Nayagan,’ ‘Devar
Magan,’ ‘Lagaan,’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ were not lucky enough to notch the
Academy award simply because they were not in English, he said.
M.S.Viswanathan blessed Rahman with many more such awards and said the
recognition was only a start for the Indian music industry. Music Director
Ilayaraja spoke on the richness of Indian music, which has produced
“world-class musicians who revolutionised the film music with their
creativity.” “Musicians who have won more than one Oscars had their awards
spaced out between a span of good many years. But Rahman made history by
winning two awards in the same year,” he said.
Other composers, including Bharadwaj, Deva, S.A.Rajkumar, Harris Jeyaraj, Yuvan
Shankar Raja, Devi Sri Prasad, and singers Janaki, Chitra and Mano participated.

Wow..I never imagined something like this would ever happen...Never thought an
oscar win will make people crazy like this...Its Rahman all over in chennai..

Huge banners / billboards across the city congratulating rahman..I see some of
them en route to office daily..what a view...what a feeling

Most of the city's walls are dominated by posters from politicians, movie
stars, corporates congratulating rahman..

In local news papers you see many advertisements congratulating rahman..

Caller tunes, ringtones dominated by Rahman.. people here are like..No one
else, only Rahman please..

I go to local grocery shop, a guy welcomes his customer by saying Jai Ho..a
Father sings Jai ho with his some 8yr old son..

All these may be just for few days. .but its our fortune that we are
experiencing these magical moments in our lifetime..

[arr] All praises to GOD

2009-02-22 Thread Mohamed Amin
As expected GOD has been kind to A.R. Rahman and its the moment of
proud for all of us. Now the third phase of his musical journey kicks
in. The first phase started from jingles to tamil movies and hindi
movies. The second phase started from hindi movies to westend musicals
culminating with Slumdog Millionaire. Now his third phase has started
after he has attained the cynosure of all the eyes with 2 wins. So, our
beloved ARR is a global phenomena now. Congrats and Good Luck ARR. You
deserve much more and you will go beyond this.

Its high time the tamil film fraternity makes the planned celebration
event to much bigger and bigger scale. Its the moment of triumph for
all of us.

Re: [arr] Bollywood artists response for Jagjit Singh

2009-01-29 Thread Mohamed Amin
Hi guys,

I guess ARR's answer will be silent again and he will prove everyone wrong by
composing powerful ghazal when the situation demands.

Tomorrow some other singer will tell, ARR doesnt know this raga. Only if he
composes then he is a full musician. Someone else may say some other stuffs.
ARR knows the best in terms of what to do as a response. ARR evolves in every
work he does. So change and experiment is the only thing which we can expect in
his works. That will shut others mouth.

Hope the controversy dies by itself. Its just my thoughts.

Jagjit Singh challenges AR Rahman
1/29/2009 8:33:07 AM

Ghazal maestro challenges Rahman to compose ghazals

AR Rahman's fans maybe raving about the 'Slumdog Millionaire'
soundtrack, but that hasn't stopped Rahman from being criticised.
For ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, Rahman's music is not 'real music';
and he has challenged the Oscar nominated music composer to sing
ghazals.

"It is a fact, just that nobody is saying it, but everybody
knows...Rahman josh mein aa kar ghazal banayee (If he has it in him,
he should compose ghazals)," Jagjit Singh said on asked about
Rahman's music in 'Slumdog Millionaire' .

The ghazal maestro has accused Rahman of replicating western tunes;
and he is also not impressed with Gulzar's poetry.

"What to say if Gulzar writes such songs. He can say 'no' if he
wants. He is a man from great literary background," an angred Singh
said.

However, his fellow ghazal singer - Pankaj Udhas does not
agree. "Rahman is a very talented artist; and yes, he can compose
very good ghazals too," Udhas said.

Bollywood is, however, divided on Jagjit Singh's response to
Slumdog's music.

Popular singer Alka Yagnik feels Bollywood music is
situtional. "Music connected to films is situational, Music
directors are asked to compose songs accoding to the script of the
film."

While Yagnik feels Bollywood music is made accoding to the script,
singer-composer Sonu Nigam completely agrees with Jagjit
Singh. "Bollywood music is not real music, so that way I agree with
Jagjitji, but Rahman is very talanted," he said.

Music director Lalit sen also agrees with Jagit Singh. "Whenever
Jagjitji says something, it is always good...I completely agrees
with him," he said. But, his bother and co-music director Jatin Sen
echos Alka Yagnik's views. "We make music according to the script,
but Jagitji is also not worng. There are no films nowadays where we
can put ghazals, so we have to keep the script in mind."

As the debate continues, music composer Adhesh Srivastav feels
Rahman has composed some wonderful music. "Rahman has made some
beautiful classical compositions like Dil Se, where he has used
Darbari Raga and Khwaja Mere Khwaja, so he can definately compose
ghazals."

Rahman may have bagged several international awards, but the real
test of Rahman's music lies in the reactions it evokes back home in
India.

I have been working with him and am very fond of him. I think that is time that
some one like Rehman, if he is recogonised internationally it would be rightly
so, deservingly so. If there is some one who has to get a golden globe from

Yuvvraaj - Colossal score by Rahman

IndiaGlitz  [Monday, October 20, 2008]

Yippee! For those who yearned to heed over spellbinding musical scores, here
comes A.R. Rahman's phenomenal gifts of composition, literary and playing skill
surmounting to the extremum. The sensational duo combo Subash Ghai-Rahman
electrified with their scintillating piece with 'Taal' and of course 'Yuvvraaj'
offers chest-full-of delights. Perhaps, before owning a copy of this album,
make sure it is not for those of you who want Rahman's full-toned sweet
melodies, but those who desire to listen to the driving energies of Mozart,
Yehudi Menuhin, Beethoven and indeed contemporary musician Rahman blended
together. If you're gonna question, "Are the tunes so entrancing?" Obviously,
it isn't a clichéd piece of work of turning Gulzar's lyrical lines into tunes.
Singers have displayed their emotions and it's stupendously balanced by sharp
clarity of instrumental texture. You're sure to lose yourselves out on the
purity and sweetness of realistic music.
Dil Ka Rishta – Enchanting score by Rahman
Singers: Sonu Ningam, Roop Kumar Rathod, A.R.Rahman, Clinton Cerejo, Suzanne
D'Mello, Vivinenne Pocha
The interlude goes on with fortepiano followed by fast flowing orchestral
violins and stringed instruments played together. The elegantly noble Andante
cantabile keeps accompanying throughout 7.39mins of songs turning down the
spotlights and arresting your senses. Never-seen-before vocalisms of singers
who keep sustaining at high level tones and A.R. Rahman rendering his voice in
middle parts are fascinating. Sonu Ningam strides with his uttermost spirits in
churning the best out of him. Roop Kumar Rathod, Clinton Cerejo, Suzanne
D'Mello and Vivienne Pocha add more to the attractive quotients. Moreover, the
song has a mix of symphonic genre blended with contemporary western beats and
of course the carnatic ragas. This should have really evoked your previsions of
how this exquisite melody would sound. Go ahead; get yourselves transfixed with
it ….
Shano Shano – Merely for disco floors
Singers: Sonu Nigam, Srinivas, Kartik, Timmy, Sunaina, Vivienne Pocha, Tina.
Again it's Sonu Ningam taking on lead along with Srinivas, Karthik and Sunaina.
But their exquisite voices get eclipsed by the winkling techno-beats. Well, the
melodious tunes seem to be bit mediocre at certain parts. But Subash Ghai with
his sorcerous abilities in cinematography would have got the best on visuals.
The song would go reiterated over and over straight onto the discotheques.
Shano Shano (Remix) – Sleek and stylish
Ember Rap
Distinctive peppy mix of instrumental synthesizers in hand with brilliantly
engineered work gets the best sound. Jazzy beat with chorally-stringed chords
blended with techno-bass all throughout the rap is sure to turn you zippy.
Preludes are completely played on sync-thick leads and Ember sways tattling
with rap lines are awesome. With refrains of 'Shano Shano' continually
recapitulated by female chorus, makes the entire 2.35mins effectually lavish…
Mastam Mastam – Chilling your senses
Singers: Sonu Ningam, Alka Yagnik, Naresh and Benny
Looks like Sonu Ningam haps to be the ducky lad for Rahman. He fleets rendering
his voice for end-to-end of different genres all throughout the album. Well,
this song sounds to be having been placed in elated situation. So, what makes
the song so special? A perfect orchestration of singers and instruments don't
overshadow voices at any extent… Rhythmic Rumba chords on guitars keeps flowing
through and last minute of the song you've the best combo of strings and
percussions blended…. Probably, you can expect a better dance over there on the
screen.
Manmohini Morey – Mix of classic 'n' western
Singer: Vijay Prakash
Merely, a fusion of Hindustani Ragas rendered by Gulzar and synthesized western
beats by maestro. Vijay Prakash vocalizes more or less similar with the styles
of Ustad Ali Khan and 'Sang-froid' would be the best term to entitle this
number. Surely, you'll feel this to be an already experienced musical and of
course it's alike 'Dheem Ta Dare' from Thakshak (singer: Suja Bhattacharya,
Music: A.R.Rahman).
Tu Hi Meri Dost – Ever-cherishing melody
Singers: Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghosal, A.R. Rahman.
Over-the-top! No other words to ennoble this

Re: [arr] Marmayogi postponed!

2008-06-29 Thread Mohamed Amin
There was a article published in the recent edition of tamil weekly
'Anandavikatan' in which they covered 'Lifetime Achievement Award' given to ARR
on behalf of Rotary Club. It seems that during the awards ceremony, they showed
the clippings of various celebrities praising ARR. One of the celebrity
clipping was from kamalhassan who told that ARR's awards is not for his past
contributions alone but for his contributions which he is going to make in
future. Also he stressed that he will meet ARR in 'Marmayogi'. Atlast he
understood the value ARR can bring to his film. May be due to his Dasavatharam.
The movie is running to packed houses but its music sucks. Hope they together
can create more musical magic in their mega outing 'Marmayogi'.

tks with regards,
Amin

Marmayogi postponed!

By Behindwoods News Bureau.

June 26, 2008

The latest news from the stable of Marmayogi suggests postponement! No, not the
film, but the inaugural pooja. The inaugural pooja of Kamal Haasan's Marmayogi,
which was earlier scheduled to be held on July 13, 2008, has now been postponed
to July 25, 2008. It is rumored in Kollywood that Pyramid Saimira expressed its
inability to conduct the

inaugural pooja, as they would be distributing the film worldwide. But Kamal
insisted on a grand function and managed to organize one himself. Incidentally,
Marmayogi, a joint venture between Kamal's Rajkamal Films and Pyramid Saimira,
is produced on a first copy basis by Kamal. Marmayogi, touted to be a mega
budget film, will be shot in various important cities across the world.

This song is undeniably one of rahman's best romantic melodies. Cant
get enough of it... Thanks for the lyrics... Do we have a website for
all rahman's lyrics and translation? Can this group's database be used
for storing all rahman's work? There are so many things we used to say
in messages, maybe we should think of a way of building up a knowlegde
base of rahman's music... Just an idea.

Cheers,

The singer of this song has amazing voice clarity. I wish ARR uses her again

One of the Songs in Thakshak was a song composed and sung by Sukhwinder
and the ARR gave credits for that in the inlay card itself. Sukhwinder must be

Re: [arr] Re: Sukhwinder on Rahman ...

2007-12-13 Thread Mohamed Amin
One of the Songs in Thakshak was a song composed and sung by Sukhwinder and the
ARR gave credits for that in the inlay card itself. Sukhwinder must be
referring to that one I guess. But not most of the songs as he claims. Also in
one of the interviews he mentions that ARR respects him not as a singer but as
a fellow composer.

Re: [arr] Re: Another big Rahman release (JA).......your expectations?

2007-12-10 Thread Mohamed Amin
Hi all,

basically we must not have any expectations at all. As ARRs music varies from
movie to movie and all based on the compulsions of the story. So, ARR knows
best on what form of music will suit. Let us stop our expectations and enjoy
the music when released so that we dont have any disappointment with us. As we
all know ARR surprises us with each and every release. Hence we will wait for
the music to be release and savour it.

  tks with regards,

  Dear all A.R.Rahman fans,

We have had Amitabh Bachan, SRK, and Aishwarya Rai at London's Madame
Tussads Wax Museum.

I think it is time we get A.R.Rahman, the living legend's, wax statue
standing proud there !

The more the number of people vouching for the cause, the more the
possibility of getting to see him among the ace statues there.

So please, forward the message to as many Rahmaniacs as possible.

Thanks,

Its difficult to type when you're speechless. But how can I not inform OUR fan
club about the greatness of our beloved Rahman Sir. I'm just back from a
press conference at GRT Grand days hotel in Chennai. We went there thinking
the winners of the finals would be announced. Our band Srishti has lost the
semifinals. We thought we had been called to cheer the other bands. A buffet
later, we were ushered into the conference hall. Krish anchored the
proceedings as usual. We were told Rahman Sir wouldn't be coming as it was
Ramzan Day and that the verdict was recorded at his studio and would be played
to us. The three finalists in contention were : Oxygen, Zinx and V3.Then
they played a video about how it all began and where it had reached now,
interspersed with Rahman Sir talking about the show and the talent that was
exhibited. Then there was a dance performance for the Ooh La la la song. Then
there was the vote of thanks, thanking everyone involved. This
was followed by another dance performance by the same group, to Athiradee.I
could judge the restlessess of the finalists, waiting for the results! As for
our band, we were just waiting to pounce on the winning band, and ask them to
treat us.Then it was time to announce the results! Krish announced that
Rahman Sir would announce the result played on video. Rahman Sir spoke. A
brief of what he said : Sir felt all the bands exceeded his expectations. Also
he said that there were some aspects that were expected from bands, which were
not exhibited by some, and some other aspects which he least expected, but was
exhibited by the bands. Then came the surprise/shock of the day. Rahman ji
said that he didn't like judging because it was very difficult. He also said
he couldn't decide on ONE winner alone. So he had chosen 6 winners!!!
*Silence*And on expected lines, the three finalists were announced as the
first three winners (in no particular order).
Then he announced Agam, Madras Tunes and Srishti (Yes thats us!!!) as the
other 3 winners! This was the moment of my life! The biggest surprise ever.
Even thrilling was watching Rahman Sir, the only inspiration behind any music
we've made. watching the video of our band perform in the quarterfinals and
comment on our performance. Sir said he liked our boldness of expression, and
our attitude onstage, and that there was Jeevan in our music! What
happened next is just a vague remembrance now... Hugs, photo sessions, the
trophy and speaking to the media, thanking Rahman sir, 2 gulab jamoons, a
sandwich and an ice cream..a few phone calls...Back home. And here I am

Rahman's music is similar to Ilayaraja's oldies. The only difference
is, Rahman used technology & his talent to give right track to those
emotions!!

Hi guys,

Anyone read todays (21st may 2007) issue of Deccan chronicle. In the supplement
there is a writeup on Tajmahal loosing its position from 7 wonders of the
world. It says it needs 30 crore more votes to remain as a wonder and some
organization have started a campaign for saving its position as one among the 7
wonders of the world. And it is said that AR Rahman has composed a score for
supporting this campaign and will be aired soon. I am eagerly waiting for that.
Anyone got any news about that?

thanks

[arr] Sivaji pirated release doing more good than harming claims The Hindu Daily

2007-03-25 Thread Mohamed Amin
Hi all,

according to the english daily The Hindu, the pirated release is doing more
good to the soundtracks than harming since the orders have increased after
people heard the 3 songs. And also the tracks will be released 2 days in
advance. So, it must be on April 2nd.

  http://www.hindu.com/2007/03/26/stories/2007032608160200.htm

`Sivaji' soundtrack, no longer a secret
Susan Muthalaly CHENNAI: The soundtrack of Rajinikanth's `Sivaji' is
no longer a closely guarded secret with three of the seven A.R. Rahman songs
available on the Internet. AVM Productions (the film's production company)
manager K. Viswanathan said there were reportedly about 500 websites from where
the songs could be downloaded. Action awaited The company has reported
the leak to the cyber crime department and is awaiting action. Due to this
development, the movie's music may hit stores two days earlier than the
original launch date of April 4. But thanks to the talented Mr. ARR, AVM has
actually recorded an increase in orders from dealers after the illegal release
on the net, according to Mr. Viswanathan. He said the response was
overwhelming and that the current order figures stood at two lakh CDs and two
lakh cassettes. The songs that can be downloaded online are `Vaaji Vaaji',
`Orukudai Sunlight' and `Sahaan Saaral'.

Re: [arr] Re: Sivaji-no excuse for rahman!!

2007-03-19 Thread Mohamed Amin
Hi guys,

we should all stop dictating ARR. Please refrain from posting these kind of
comments. Also, please refrain from asking for old ARR. Can we go back to our
childhood now? We cannot. Likewise there is a transition happens in all the
things in this world. ARR's music is not exempted from this transition. Please
be patient and appreciate his music. There can be only one Kadhalan or one
muqabla. So, ARR is unique in all the songs. Let us all wait for the Sivaji's
music. When Sivaji music will be out, there will be knee jerk reactions and
someone will say cannot wait for Akbar Jodha. So, stop talking all these things
and just appreciate his music.

I think you might have omitted Mano, who has sung many songs like Thillanna
from Muthu, Aathangarai from kizhaku cheemaiyale, kicku eruthey from Padayappa,
Oh Kaadhale from Kaadhal virus, putham puthu bhoomi, Veerapandi Kottayialae
from Thiruda Thiruda.

Also Shahul Hameed who sang Rasaathi from Thiruda Thiruda, Usilampatti from
Gentleman, Maari Mazhai from Uzhavan, Ethukku Pondatti from Kizhaku
Cheemaiyale, Varayo Thozhi from Jeans etc.

Subject: Re: [arr] The "singlers" list..!

There are few corrections and additions to the list
(Only Tamil and Hindi songs):

I. Following singers have sung more than one song:

1. ANUPAMA has sung many songs for ARR like
"kuch bhi na socho" and "Poovukenna" from Bombay;
"Maaro maaro" from Boys;
"Chandralekha" from Chor Chor;
"Sandhipoma", "Kama kama" from Enakku 20 Unakku 18;
"Love Theme" from Jeans;
"Hello Doctor" from Kaadhal Desam & Duniya dilwalon
ki;
"Ye ye ennachu" from Kaadhal Virus;
"signore" from Kannathil Muthamittal;
"If you wanna" from New;
"July madham" from Pudhiya Mugam
"Spirit of Rangeela", "Aiyaiyoh Kanavaa" from
Rangeela;
"Mercury pookkal" from Ratchakan;
"Sundara en sundara" from Super Police;
"I wanna be free" from Tehzeeb;
"Jaan tum ho meri" from Vishwavidhaata

2. MINMINI
"Saagar se milane ke liye" from Humse Hain Muqabla;
"Paarkathe" from Gentleman;
"Indiraiyo ival" & "Kaatru Kudhirayille" from
Kaadhalan;
"Satten aden thattu nenjam" (BGM) from Kannathil
Muthamittal;
"Pachakili" from Karuthammaa;
"Killigal Rendu" from Manidha Manidha;
"Eduda antha" from Pudhiya Manargal;
"Sambo sambo" from Pudhiya Mugam;
"Chhoti si asha" & "Chinna chinna aasai" from Roja;
"Chithirai" from "Vandi Cholai Chinrasu"

3. P. SUSEELA
"Meettu podu" from Duet;
"Kannamma" from Indian;
"Azhagu" from Pudhiya Mugam;

BTW "Poo koodiyan" from Iruvar is sung by Sandhya.

4. RINA BHARDWAJ
"Baba kichu kichu" from Baba;
"Main vaari vaari" from Mangal Pandey;
"Aaha thamizhamma" from Kangalal Kaithu Sai;
"Yeh rishta" from Meenaxi

5. ABHIJEET (Not Abhishek!!!)
(I simply hate this guy after reading whatever he
said in the Filmfare magazine last year about ARR...)
"Ae naazneen suno na" from Dil Hi Dil Me;
"Chidiya tu hoti to" from Nayak;
"Teri meri baat" from Sapney

II. I am not sure whether Bhattacharya (one who sang
"Jack n Jill") and Surjo Bhattacharya (one who sang
"Dhim da dare" from Thakshak) is the same person or
not. If both are same then he has sung couple of
songs. But I guess both are same person.

III. Kumar Sanu has sung only one song for ARR and
that is "Mil gayi" from Kabhi Na Kabhi. Hindi version
of "Mel isaiaye" from Mr. Romeo is sung by SPB.

IV. "Naramugaye" from Iruvar is sung by Bombay
Jayashree only and it's her only song for ARR. It's
not by Nithyashree.

V. I guess Sunidhi Chauhan has sung two songs for ARR.
one is "Saiyyaan" from Nayak and other one is "Tham
gaya toofan" from One Two Ka Four. Experts please
clarify.

So as far as my knowledge of ARR's songs is concerned,
list can be modified as:

Alisha Chinai ("Jumbalika" - Thakshak)
Apache Indian ("No problem" - Love Birds - Both Hindi
and Tamil)
Arjun ("Chittukuruvi" - Parasuram)
Arvind Swamy ("Udal mannukku" & "Unnodu naan" -
Iruvar)
Ashutosh Gowariker ("Pal pal hain bhaari" - Swades)
Baba Sehgal ("Rukmini" - Roja - Hindi)
Babul Supriyo ("Taram pam" - Doli Sajaa Ke Rakhanaa)
Bharatiraja ("Kaadupotta" - Karuthamma)
Bombay Jayasree ("Narumugaye" - Iruvar)
Boney Chakraboorty ("Rasiya" - Mangal Pandey)
Caroline ("Thee thee" - Thiruda Thiruda)
Deepika ("Vaa maanava" - Thaalam)
Gopal Rao ("Thulli Thulli" - Oonjal)
Hans Raj Hans ("Saiyyan" - Nayak)
Johnson & Mukesh ("Theekkuruvi" - Kangalal Kaithu Sai
Kalpana ("Tirupachi arivala" - Tajmahal)
Kamal Haasan ("Aalangaati mazhai" - Thenaali)
Kishori Gowariker ("Ghanan ghanan" - Lagaan)
Kumar Sanu ("Mil gayi" - Kabhi Na Kabhi)
Madhumita ("Sundari" - Kannathil Muthamittal)
Manmohan Waris ("Mera rang de basanti" - The Legend of
Bhagat Singh)
Manoj ("Echi elumichi" - Taj Mahal)
Manorama ("Madrasi sutti" - May Madham)
Nabaron Ghosh ("Sun le o jaanam" - Tu Hi Mera Dil)
Nachiketa Chokroborti ("Ekla chalo" - Bose - The
Forgotten Hero) * He has sung Bengali part of the
song.
Nagoor Mohammad Ali ("Monalisa" - Mr. Romeo - Hindi &
Tamil)
Neyvaeli Ramalakshmi ("Alaipayuthe" - Alaipayuthe)
Niraj Vohra ("Shabba shabba" - Daud)
Nirmala Sheshadri ("Patchai kiligal" - Indian and
"Pyaare pancchi" - Hindustani) * Only start of the
song.
Nusarat Fateh Ali Khan ("Chanda suraj" - Vande
Mataram)
Pamela Jain, Gayatri ("Zindagi hain dua" - Dil Ne Jise
Apna Kahaa)
Poonam Bhatia ("I am sorry" - One Two Ka Four)
Prabhakar ("Ajantha Oviyam" & "Endhan Uyiril (Other
version)" - Monalisa)
Prabhu ("Kavithaikku Porul" & "Sitha

Hi Thineshan,

your worries are unfound. ARR composes universally so he can make song in
tamil and make it hit in hindi or English or vice versa. Take for example, Doli
Sajake Rakhna, when it was dubbed to Tamil as Jodi, it became a super dooper
hit. Hopefully, the tamil version will be more enjoyable if it has lyrics by
Vaali or Vairamuthu.

[arr] Semi-ARR: Sunali Rathod wants to sing for ARR

2006-03-09 Thread Mohamed Amin

Hi guys,     I was just surfing the channels this morning and happened to see Sony Music where Sunali Rathod(For tamil music fans, she is the one who sang Yamunai Attrilae from Thalapathy for IR) was being interviewed. Finally she mentioned in her interview that she wants to sing for Rehmanji since he is the one who comes out with innovative music and showcases the singer's talent. Then she mentioned other MDs names but again in the last she mentioned again that its her longing wish to sing for ARR.      This shows that when singers sing for ARR, they get instant recognition as well as full show case of their talents which other MDs may notice. (Since most of the Indian MDs always look out for ARRs releases to draw inspiration)     Thanks with regards, Amin__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam

[arr] ARR redefines Kuthu paattu with Kamma karayilae

2006-02-20 Thread Mohamed Amin

Hi guys,     once again ARR establishes that he is a trendsetter and redefines the kuttu paattu with kamma karayilae. Cannot get over the ooha oooha. Its mindblowing. Dont be surprised if this song becomes no. 1 in all count downs. Its very peppy.     And once again ARR-Vairamuthu combination redefines lyrics standard. The lyrics are excellent and sometimes funny also. Wonderful usage of words.     What you guys think abt it?     Thanks with regards, Amin

Even though ESK did not win any accolades, it is stillremembered for 1 or 2 of its catchy tunes and a refreshing break in 1999 after ARRs Cultish Dil Se. [arr] Music of WOHE used in trailers

2005-12-02 Thread Mohamed Amin

I was watching trailers in Sun TV and chanced to see the trailer of Kalaba Kadhalan and the whole trailer has been filled with WOHE bgms. I am not sure how many of guys noticed.      Is that considered a blatant violation of music rights?     Anybody could throw light abt it?     Thanks with regards, Amin

[arr] A. R. Rahman takes a trip down memory lane

2005-10-18 Thread Mohamed Amin

Hi all,

I just wanna share the article featured in today's (19/10/2005) THE HINDU daily. For those who cannot see the attached message, please use the following URL to read:

A. R. Rahman takes a trip down memory lane
Sudhish Kamath

"It's nice to have a place dedicated to music" he says

AT HOME: It was a get-together of sorts when A.R. Rahman paid a visit to his alma mater on Tuesday. The music director inaugurated the piano section at Musee Musical. — Photo: V.Ganesan

CHENNAI: Little Dilip used to come here years ago, and grew up watching many musicians finetune their skills.
For many like him, it was second home.
Musee Musical, the best known landmark for music, musicians and instruments, opened yet another door on Tuesday evening, when a Toyota Innova made its way through a rain battered lane off Anna Salai.
For Dilip, it was a trip down memory lane as he stepped out of the car to a warm welcome — now as A.R. Rahman.
New piano section

Clad in a white embroidered kurta, a blue waist-coast with matching corduroys, he quickly proceeded to cut the blue ribbon to declare the new piano section of the store open.
After obliging lensmen with a quick 15-second test of the Yamaha piano, he went around to check out the other beauties crafted out of ebony and ivory.
"I first came here when I was ten or eleven," recalls the music director. "I used to come with my father. I wrote all my music exams here."
"Jacob John, the piano teacher was his master," M.H. Das, managing director and owner of Musee Musical, adds.
"It's nice to have a place dedicated to music," says Rahman, fondly recalling his long association with the centre.
"I was busy and hadn't been here in a while. But I came back last year. The last thing I brought here was a shehnai. I tried to learn and failed miserably," he laughs. After a quick chat on his forthcoming films, he then steps into yet another section of the store upstairs for photographs with the staff. "He's such a humble man. I met him yesterday at 15 minutes notice and he immediately agreed," Das smiles. "He is just the same boy, he hasn't forgotten us."
The folks at Musee Musicals were thrilled, some of them had their cameras loaded with pictures and others showed off the prized autograph. Dilip, surely, made their day.

[arr] ARR-Shankar-Vairamuthu combo for Sivaji

2005-08-25 Thread Mohamed Amin

Hi guys,

It has been confirmed that the magical combo of ARR-Shankar-Vairamuthu will be back again for Sivaji as reported in the latest issue of the tamil magazine Anandhavikatan.

Hope it becomes true and we can sense that this combo will be back during the cassette release function of Aah Aaha when Shankar described ARR's music as layers of cake which has to be enjoyed slowly and gives surprises at every layer.

Its gonna be a musical mega movie.

thanks with regards,
Amin

Re: [arr] current events

2005-04-01 Thread Mohamed Amin

Hi Rano,

I expected that referring him as GOD will certainly depress him because its called Kufr in Islam. I raised this point long back and no one seems to abide. I feel that people should love his work and dont ever call him as GOD or anything else. What we have got from his the gift of pure music. We have to cherish that.

I appeal to the group that hereafter please dont refer him as GOD of music or anything else associated with GOD. It will depress and hurt our composer.

Thanks with regards,

This group is going thru a downward spiral into nothingness. What's the allegation against Margazhi Poove. How is it copied if EVERYONE knows what it is? It's used with a point, just as Saare Jahan se Achchha is used in Hindustani as an interlude I think. Also the comments that Sangamam is not electronic. It is SO electronic. It is full of samples and synths. The folk aspect is new and fresh and awesome, but to say it's not electronic! And A R R requests, please please don't refer to him as God or whatever. It certainly DOES NOT reflect the opinion of the entire group with its varied background, and most of all, it DEPRESSES A R R to say the least.
