Yes, the comedy never stops. I keep saying, these spineless people should
be ashamed of talking about Rahamn. Where was sukhwinder before chaya chaya?.
Now he is saying that he would like to sit down and talk with Rahman as though
there is something wrong with AR.

Damn snipwinder,

Just do your job. AR needs no free advice. He is happy and the BEST at what
he is doing. You guys don't do the bad apple act.

AR Sir,

for heavens sake, please stop working with these unprofessional people.
Please, you don't deserve any of this NON-SENSE.

I'm seriously shedding tears for what is happening around to our BOSS. I was
not able to control my tears when I saw our BOSS winning OSCARS for India and
now I'm doing it again, when I realize the amount of recognition that AR
achieved for India has been forgotten.

SHAME on the MEDIA !!!

This has happened before with other great MDs of the past.

I can't tell you how many Raj Kapoor/Shankar Jai Kishan songs using raaga

For me, I find too many differences between Behene De and Satrangi Re to spoil

From the day it got released, till today i am putting my best efforts and
was hoping that Raavan's songs will grow on me one day. But unfortunately it
dint. This has never happened to me in any of ARR's albums. The reason
probably is except for Kille re, others sound very familiar to me like
Ranjha Ranjha(mayya mayya), behene de(jane tu mera kya hai), Thok De Killi
(Loose control from Rangdebasanti), and even Jaare Ud Jaare (Jaane Tu Ya
Jaane Na title song) to a certain extent(not just bcoz of the similarity in
the words). Whenever i listen to these songs my mind automatically switches
to the song that i hv quoted in bracket. So i loose control of the song that
i am currently listening to. Its really frustrating to experience this. I
think the problem is actually with me than the music of our boss.

So to all of you guys who are enjoying Raavan's music, i must say im really
jealous of you guys. But i can do nothing but just simply wait for his next
 album.

  Friends,
It is that time when a new album from our boss is releasing. Makes me get into
a reflective mood in terms of how do I listen to a new album from ARR. I
primarily can think of 3 approaches/patterns under which I listen to a new
album. Let me know what you guys think.

Approach 1: Take the album listen to all the songs at one stretch and then
repeat the same process. Advantage I found of this is that you listen to all
the songs at one shot, but disadvantage is that first 2-3 times I feel
completely lost. I follow this pattern a lot.

Approach 2: Take one song at a time, listen to it a few times and then only
move to the next song. This I rarely follow. Advantage is, it helps you
internalize one song at a time. But disadvantage is it takes lot of patience
and effort !

Approach 3: Listen to entire album once, pick the ones that stand out right
away and stray towards them. I find this most suitable approach and I easily
follow this path. But, downside is that I naturally tend to neglect some songs
and never truly enjoy them unless I revisit the album later. This is most
preferred approach for me.

So guys, what do you think ? I am curious to know how others do this.
Ram

  Translation:
It was a fine Sunday morning, when I got a call from my friend,
cinematographer Rajeev Menon, asking if we can meet!

The meeting happened at 5 pm that day. I was then the sub editor of India

Today, and was handling movies section too. Those days, Rajeev was working
more on Ad films, than for movies. He told me about a youngster who was
composing for his ad films - His name is Dileep. He has tremendous music

sense. He's extremely talented in playing and handling all modern
instruments. Moreover, Mani sir has signed him on for his next movie, after
listening to some of his jingles.

Wow.. thats something new, I thought, and collected a pic of Dileep shot
by Rajeev and his phone number from Rajeev. Next day, I called up Dileep and
he answered. I introduced myself and asked for a meeting with him. He

immediately refused saying No sir... No Interviews now! Mani sir has asked
me not to speak anything about the project!

I retorted - You dont have to speak about the movie; speak about you! I

would be pleased if India Today publishes details about the new music
director who is Mani Ratnam's new find.
I also told him that I'd already collected his photo from Rajeev Menon.

Finally, later acceded to my request!

The meeting happened at 4 pm. He was not a school kid. He was not yet a
college student. He seemed to be just in that transition phase, with a shy

smile on his face! His mom and sister were with him. His mom offered me cake
and savouries they had purchased from the neighbourhood bakery, for me.
  Coffee followed.

Then, we started talking. He told me a lot - about his father RK Shekar,

about how music became his full-time job after his father's death, about the
family background, about the conversion to islam, about his name change! He
mentioned that the Mani film was a God-given gift for him. He conversed with

him as though we're very close friends for a long time! He took me to his
studio and played 2 songs from his new film.

One of those songs was Chinna Chinna Aasai. After listening to it, I

requested Rahman to play it once more. He was overjoyed and played it again.
Just this one song is enough to take you to heights of fame, I told him
and wished him all luck. Other their Mani sir, others connected with the

film hadn't listened to the songs. I played it just for you. Your words are
very encouraging, he said and thanked me. When I was leaving, he came out
till his front gate and bid farewell to me.

One week later, Rahman's mom called me - When can we see my son's photo in
the magazine, dear brother? I could sense the eagerness and excitement in
  her voice.

It will hit the stands in 2 days, mother. I'll come and give a few copies
to you, even before that, I told her.

En-route to my house from office, I visited Rahman's house with 5 copies of

India Today, and gave it to them. The images of the proud mother and sister,
smiling and sharing their happiness on seeing Rahman's photo in the
magazine, still remains fresh in my memories. But, Rahman took this big news

in a calm and composed manner. With a smile, he thanked me. His humbleness
was there with him right from that time.

In fact.. ARr even asked his representatives to get us a cake, cut it for our
sake.. and then we sang for him. We wanted im to sing, but he blushed. The best
part that I forgot to mention is we had bought a gift for his son Ameen. we
bought a Remote Control Car Toy for his son, and ARR was very happy seeing
that. he called his son, and we presented that to him. he started playing then
and there, and we were also overwhlemed.

ARR made us feel that we were one among his family members , and Word are not
sufficient to praise him.

[arr] Another Rahman album growing on me

2007-12-11 Thread Nithin Sujathan
Frnds,
I feel like sharing my experience with sillunu oru kaadhal album. I
was really disappointed when it was released, bcos apart from munbe vaa
newyork nagaram I didnt like other songs from it.
But now since last week machakari jillunu oru kaadhal is growing on me badly
that i am playing it continuously. Orchestration is too good.

Rahman is truly great injecting his music among his fans slowly...

I too share an emotion with this song. When I listen to some songs of Rahman i
get goosebumps. Thirakkatha includes that group. Especially the humming

Don't you guys think this song is just perfect in all ways possible??
Not that his other songs aren't but the composition is just fabulous!
A lot of ppl don't talk about it like Iruvar and Bose but when ever I
listen to this song it makes you feel good and refreshed.

The singer selection couldn't have been better with a lot of classical
touch in between the lines and great instrument usage and
orchestration. The piano interlude which I am guessing played by ARR is
sooo soothing. I think this is one of the classics of ARR. Even though
the song is 7 mins long it feels like it can go on for ever and ever
and you will just need more of it.. I simply love this song and feel
greatful to be able to hear such wonderful classics.

To break the record created by Sivaji, the forthcoming movie Sultan is going
to be screened in 1200 theatres. After the world record in collection created
by Sivaji, this is going to be Rajnikanth's next movie. Rajni is donning the
role of Sultan who happened to rule India once upon a time. Being a historic
film, Rajni's daughter has been taking extra care in drafting the film.

A.R.Rahman is scoring the music for the film, and the initial part of shooting
happened in Brazil, Belgium, Germany, America for six weeks. The initial acting
was done by Rajni, upon which the animation is being carried out in Ocher
Studios ( Rajni's daughter Studios ). Now, the final part of shooting is being
carried out. Rajni has been impressed by the way the film has been directed,
and has given 20 days of call sheet for the remaining part of the film.

Soundarya speaking about the film says Her father has been quite happy about
the scenes that have already been shot till date. His father has been
motivating her right from the beginning abt the film, and shooting. One can see
her father in a more youthful and stylish form in the movie .

The Trailer of Sultan which is being shown everywhere has been welcomed
everywhere. The same sort of treatment is expected for the entire movie. In the
history of Indian Entertainment, this is the first time, that a Super Star
animated film is being shot and prepared. The final bit of shooting is on
progress , and will be shot entirel in Chennai.

The cut-outs for the film is being raised at AVM Studios, and Prasad studios
in Chennai. The climax fight scene woudl be picturised similar to the Lord of
the Rings. ARR has already composed six songs for the movie, which also
includes a special Introductory song.

Soundarya has planned to release the film for April 14th ( Tamil new years Day
) . It is expected to beat Sivaji's records, and the trailer is already being
shown in more than 1200 theatres, all across the globe.

[arr] Why No One Speaks Abt this ARR Album????

2007-10-06 Thread Nithin Sujathan
Group Members,
If my memory is correct, I havent seen anyone of you guys
mentioning this tamil film album of rahman named Parthale Paravasam starring
Madhavan simran. Film was really bad. But album was a decent one. Nee thaan
En Desiya Geetam sung by Balram ( who sang Kaatrinile from film Mozhi) was
the pick of the lot. In fact this album, Sivamani was involved in full sing.
Lot of experiments was done in this album by rahman. Why no one mentions this
album neither among arr favourites / non favourites???

kumar shan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Nishant

5.1 MP3 (MP3 surround) sounds terrible than the normal stereo MP3 if you listen
it in stereo sound system. you can only feel the difference of the MP3 surround
if you listen to it in any 5.1 system with the proper output (speakers)
itself.

It is not a compressed format, those MP3 surround (5.1 MP3) actually squeeze
out the extra channels from the normal MP3 (stereo), obviously it will sounds
terrible if you listen to it in the normal stereo sound system or headphones
(because there is only 2 channel outputs). You will sense that the normal audio
CD / stereo MP3 sounds better, because all of the frequency of sound are
encoded in those 2 channels only. Meanwhile 5.1 MP3 have splitted those 2
channels to 6 channels (front R L, Rear R L, Center and LFE - Subwoofer),
so, you cant listen to the sounds which redirected to the other extra channel,
by listening to the track in a stereo system, it only can be listened in at
least 5.1 system to get the full satisfaction.

at the same time, 5.1 MP3 requires a specific player or codec to play the track
with the full effects. normal players can play it (since it is a type of MP3)
but it is unable to give you the real feel of the sound itself.

   Hi Nithin

These 5.1 MP3 songs that you are talking about are ripped from the DVD
which have Dolby or DTS 5.1 sound. The basic difference between these
MP3 5.1 songs and the original songs in an audio CD is that the MP3
5.1 songs have extra channels - 2 surrounds,1 center and one Low
 frequency channel (subwoofer).

The audio CD only has 2 channels but the sound quality is better than
 these MP3 5.1 songs.MP3 is a lossy (compressed) format,so there is a
loss in sound quality. While a audio CD has sound in a lossless
format,so you get better sound quality.

Also these DTS songs released on the net are ripped from DVDs don't
have the sound quality of a commercially released DTS audio CD.This is
because the DTS track in DVDs are encoded at a bitrate of around
768kbps while the commercial DTS audio CDs have a bitrate of 1411Kbps.

So if your looking for the best 5.1 sound then DTS audio CDs and
theatres with DTS/Digital sound are the best to experience them
as they have higer bitrate audio when compared to DVDs.

Hey Wasim,
Thanx man for posting this..This weekend or so i shall

good work..

kaissiom [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello
Rahmaniacs,

I've posted the song online. Please provide feedback, share the
experience, and let me know if you agree with me on the quality.

I can not explain in words.. the experience of listening to certain
songs in this quality, the most notable experience of euphoria
occurred while listening to the following songs:

 - Mustafa Mustafa (I had never heard the bass like that)
 - Urvashi Urvahsi
 - Humma Humma
 - Dil hai sanam (Chor Chor)

Tip: Your computer or ipod may not be best equipped to listen to this
format. If that is the case, I highly recommend burning the song onto
a CD and listening to it on a high end system.

Some technical details to keep in mind:
 - Volume levels on this audio is lower than most other formats, due to
the averaging logic, I don't want to get into details.

 - High quality means already high levels of treble and bass. If you
have an amp, set it to modest settings. I don't want to get blamed,
if you blow up your speakers :)

Re: [arr] DVD-Audio: anyone interested?

2007-05-25 Thread Nithin Sujathan
 the version of
the song that is better(quality) than the version on original CD. I
recommend you burn this song and listen to it in a hi-fi system if
possible or using a decent pair of headphones (BO, Sennheiser, Bose,
SHURE) And if you can't listen to it on a hi-fi system now, you could
probably keep it for future use.

But before I post anything, I was not even sure if anyone would
actually be interested in this high-quality audio. I mean I truly
don't know if people care about quality or size for that matter or is
it just me? Why post something and waste bandwidth if people don't
really care? So, I thought.. what better way to find out than to ask
 the group itself?

So, if you are interested in this song at all, reply to this post or
 reply to my email.

WARNING: (From my own experience) Negative side-effects of listening
to high-quality audio sound for prolonged period of time include but
are not limited to: increased craving of high quality audio, dislike
or even deletion of your mp3 file library, and last but not the
least.. pure indulgence. You have been warned!!

 I love Rahman.

 *NOTE: (for the audio-junkies)
The audio I'm referring to is DVD-quality audio, not to be confused
with DVD-Audio. It is not in 5.1 Sorround Sound. It is high-quality
Stereo Audio with R/L programming. Having 5.1 SS programming would
mean you would have to burn it on a DVD. But I rip it using 2.1
setting, so it is in Stereo .wma format and can be burned onto a blank
CD, because the CD-muic burning logic only considers *time* while
burning and not size. More questions? Feel free to contact me, I love
 to share the joy :)

Re: [arr] ARR @ TVM - A first hand Report

2007-02-14 Thread Nithin Sujathan
arun ur really luckyy...
thanx for sharing those photos

--- arunkbganesh [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 Dear Fellow Group-Mates,

First of all, apologies for the late report..

 Feb 12, 2007

I had no idea which flight AR was coming in - all I
 had with me was
an unconfirmed news that he was coming in the IA
 Flight reaching TVM
at 11.10AM. I went to the aiport and was relieved to
 see a KAIRALI
TV car parked there, with cameras ready at the
 airport's exit. The
flight was delayed by around 20 minutes and reached
 only at 11:30am.
Within 10-15 minutes, I could spot Yesudas inside
 the airport waiting
to pick up his luggage. I could not spot ARR.. (I
 had also checked
with the airport folks whether AR was coming in this
 flight - and
they had said yes). So I was kinda worried when I
 could not spot
him... Anyways, it took some time for them to come
 out of the airport
 coz of the cargo delay.
Camera flashes started going off like mad, People
 started
crowding all of a sudden, policemen seemed to come
 out of nowhere -
ARR was on his way out with his Amma. He came down
 the aisle, was
walking towards the car. I was wearing the group
 T-Shirt, which has
his foto on it. He gave a nice stare onto it, smiled
 at me.

I told him Hi AR Sir, welcome to Trivandrum. I am
 from the ARR
group . He acknowledged and moved on to his car

I went round and again landed in front of him and
 said, Sir, The
group in TVM would like to have a meet with you if
 it is not going to
 cause ANY incovenience to you.

AR : Hmmm... Do you have any number?

(Damn me, I didnt have a pen, a paper or a visiting
 card @ that
time) He understood my situation and said come
 to the hotel.

Well, 1 thing i noticed here was, as soon as AR
 heard I am from the
group, his response was fabulous. He kept on talking
 to me, even when
the organisers kept the car door open and was
 requesting AR to get
 inside the car.

[ Well.. after that, if anyone saw me driving to the
 hotel , they
would have understood that even a Maruti 800 could
 complete in a F1
race. :-) ] .. En route. I called up the group
 friends at TVM who
had contacted me (Srijith, Swapna, Praveen, Sarath
 Lal, Hakkeem and
the Seven Bells band) and asked them to come to the
 hotel immd. I
reached the hotel around 12.15pm, but AR hadnt
 arrived yet. (Later,
got a confirmation that he had gone to the
 Bheemapally mosque
directly from the airport to pray).

AR reached after half an hour. We were waiting at
 the entrance of the
hotel, He smiled at us and went inside the hotel
 with his Amma,
accompanied by the Kairali crew. We decided to wait
 for however long
it was going to take. After around 20 mins, the
 Kairali person came
up and said You came to meet AR right? Pls come
 this way...
There was no sign of ARR anywhere nearby, and the
 other flks had not
reached yet, so we decided to wait on at the lobby.

After around 5 minutes, one hotel staff came up and
 said Are you
guys not going there? AR is waiting for you I
 got butterflies
in my stomach when I heard that!! Can anyone imagine
 a person like
ARR waiting at the lobby to meet his fans??? We
 rushed over.. and
apologised for the miss. His face looked very tired.
 We were 5 of us,
gathered around him and smiled. Nobody UTTERED a
 SINGLE WORD! :-) I
said its a dream come true for all of us. He
 smiled.
I said more people are on their way. they should be
 here any
 minute.
AR : Oh! but I am tired.. needed to get some sleep
 since I have to
wake up at 5pm, and go for the function.. (He was
 very tired, still
he came down to meet us and was waiting for us. We
 all felt so bad
making him wait).. We all said Sure sir, please go
 ahead. This is
more than enuf for us. He said Thanks and got up
 to leave.

He started walking off which is when we rememberd
 about taking
fotos.:-) He gladly obliged for it (without a small
 trace of dissent
on his face), I took around 4-5 snaps while others
 posed. And off he
walked. ( The number of fotos in the hotel we took
 must be 2-3, since
we didnt want him to wait. Yeah, we knew this was a
 great
opportunity, but we didnt want to make the most of
 it by troubling
 ARR).

Well... The more I see him in real, the more I am
 awed and amazed at
his humility, and down to earth attitude. He is a
 celebrity who is
not living in a fantasy world, and one knows what
 real life is all
 about.

PS : Photos are uploaded at
 http://www.flickr.com/photos/ergusee

There is technical problem in getting the videos
 (airport arrival
video and Swaralaya function video)out of the
 handycam. So please
bear with me for a day. I am trying to fix it.

 Cheers!

Re: [arr] Can anyone clarify my doubt?

2006-11-15 Thread Nithin Sujathan
Enigma's first album MCMXC.AD was released way back in 1990. principles of lust
song was in this album

karthikeya murthy [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: i m not sure about
enigma... i think it should be a mere coincidence if there is any resemblence
but telephone manipol tune is originally a re recording tune(bgm score) of
roja... it exactly comes when arvind swamy comes in say that he likes madhu
bala rather than her sister...

Can anyone please tell which was released earlier? Indian or Enigma's
track?
Thank you in advance!!
