Have said this before but thought its apt to hammer it into some heads...

Deespite a very very very busy schedule, Gopal Srinivasan does a damn good
job of moderating this group. If one or two silly messages get through,
shouldnt we be critisizing the poster rather than the moderator?

We try our best to get all details about AR on time or preferably as an
exclusive..somethings are beyond our control and AR's...we dont spend 24
hours with him to know every minute detail and he himself is busy like mad
travelling across continents so please spare us sarcasm like we have t beg
or we will see it elsewhere first

will have the credit list updated on the site this evening..

and yes, the above listing is a figment of someone's idle brain

Karan Johar was the host of the evening...started off by saying "before i
say anything ladies and gentlemen, A R Rahman is in the house".HUGE
APPLAUSE...

When he announced A R's name for the best background score and A R went on
stage to get it, Rashid and me kept on clapping and stood up as I couldnt
control my excitement for him. And know what? everyone in the room stood up
and kept on clapping even as A R started his thank you speech. The claps
wouldn't stop. A R says " I feel akward getting these awards. SEL salim
suleiman do a good job too.""..WHAT HUMILITY MAN !!

So that's what..net net..bollywood was genuinely happy for him and showed
it.

I think I can sum up and give a perspective of why Gopal reacted the way he
did.
When there are no releases, there are innumerable posts on this group asking
for release dates and superlatives going to the extent of saying "I cannot
wait for XYZ soundtrack and believe me its going to be the best" blah
blah...

Simultenously, as people who manage www.arrahman.com, we keep trying to find
out the most authentic information and since we are also part of the group,
it is always the group which gets the information first hand. Also consider
the fact that A R R himself would have worked hard to complete the
soundtrack.

And then at the end of it all, when after listening to 2-4 lines from a
promotional song, comments like "I cant believe Rahman did this" or "This is

True, every album / soundtrack may have pluses and minuses  - And i say this
for all musicians worldwide but a detailed review and thought sharing can
happen later.

Its only 2 days and only 2 lines from a song from a soundtrack which has 8
songs has been played and we are already debating.

By the same logic, please tell me why Enigma, Deep Forest, Michael Jackson,
Madonna, Nitin Sawhney, All the boy bands, Mark Snow, Jean Michel Jarre or
even S E L, Vishal Shekhar, LP, Salim Suleiman, Harris Jayraj, Ilayaraja
cannot re create the magic, popularity and the huge sales of their first few
albums / soundtracks ??!!.

I go by a logic and im urging you to go by it too which is that if we with
our limited knowledge of music and access to limited people and limited
technology know so much (in our opinion) surely an artist like A R R with
the vast knowledge, access to so many talented musicians , filmmakers and
other creative people and the latest technology will also know not only as
much as we know but surely 2 cents more.

So dear all - let us wait for Yuvvraaj which should release in the 3rd week
of this month.

well atleast the sound still remains very very A R Ryou can
recognise an A R R track immediately even if you never heard it before
this has been the case for the past 16 yearsspare a thought for
music lovers of other musicians/groups.Enigma and Deep forest for
example whose music i absolutely adored...the E5 album changed
everything and the E6 didnt have the sound of Enigma...ditto for Deep
Forest's Music Detected.On the other hand a guy like Nitin Sawhney
is very much moving on the same path as A R R...his Beyond Skin still
remains my all time favourite but he still maintains his sound with his
latest work.

well this is a series of 9 colouring books for children based on stories
which will help them to understand human values...as of now only the 1st
issue is out...you can choose to buy each issue at a time or swipe your card
for all 9.also you may promote this within your community by talking to

assistance.i repeat, this is an entirely non profit venture and we are
all doing our bit towards making it a successso while you enjoy the
sweet melodies of A R R on the CD system, do take 5 minutes out of your busy

Dear All,

Since there is sometime for JA music to release, I'm hoping we will all
focus on something different but close to A R R's heart for sometime.

The PFMB coloring books are now available at all leading book stores /
stationers across India. Infact I'd like to see a discussion here on where
the books are available (the same way that we ask about CDs). We can compile
a list of leading bookstores in cities and towns that will be helpful for
other visitors to our site know about it.

Request each one of you to go out and buy the book priced at Rs99/- only.
The proceeds from the sales will go to the A R R Foundation.

Also since this has nothing to do with music lovers or music, let us
encourage others also to buy it and look at gifting it to kids also.

The first colouring book is a video grab of PFMB. Over the next 9 months, we
will release 1 storybook each month. Hope all of us buy all the books.

*Clarification*


There has been considerable speculation that I have been appointed the brand
ambassador for HMV Sa Re Ga Ma, as reported in the media.

While I have agreed to be a part of HMV Sa Re Ga Ma's talent hunt programme,
'Ooh La La La' as one of the judges, my role & responsibility begins and
ends with judging the contestants as part of the jury and providing tips to
them which will help them hone their skills and help them in their endeavour
to be the best.

'Ooh La La La' is a talent hunt for a musical band and the auditions for the
show will be conducted across Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh.

What excites me about this talent hunt format is the challenge for the
participants, which is to compose music and the emphasis on team work
wherein individual effort and creativity will have to be fused to bring out
the best in them.

While comparisions are always bound to be there and i have no doubt that 
Another Day in Paradise was a masterpiece, I think its unfair to cite genres of 
music with the cause that its supportingsince you mention 
rap...because there are innumerable hip hop artistes who are all 
singing for a cause (or rapping) ...not necessarily poverty eradication but the 
bottomline is the CAUSE...and have a huge fan following and are winning 
awards..
   
  Thus the point being while oh bosnia and another day...may have been superior 
melodywise, it takes nothing away from the fact that pfmb still manages to 
deliver the punch !

Hey, thought i d tell you about this LIVE performance i was invited to yesterday...very very private affair.Ustad Gulam Mustafa Khan's 75th Bday celebrations at Bombay last night.performances by Shaan, Hariharan, MAdhushri, Sadhana...for a minute i thought i was a t a n a r r concert...then a r r performed 2 songs with Ustad's sonsHaji Ali and Noor Un Ala and Khalbali with Naresh...and a r r was on the Harmonioumofcourse no prizes for guessign who invited mewas seated on the first row :)     -Cheers  Vij     Was looking out for anyone to accompany me and called up Swapnil but yet again he could NOT make ittough luck !
