Chowdhury,

I am not running my rkm 7.2 with patch002. I have directly applied patch003.
I have already done for Main, Incident and Problem consoles. Currently I
have an issue with Requester console. Please guide me on it.

Thanks

Ram,
We had the issue you mentioned and this is what I got from BMC Support.
However, others on this list think that this is not an ideal solution but it
did work for us. Good luck.
See below:

The problem you are facing is related to Defect#SW00309893 which is going to
be tentatively fixed in the RKM7.5

Below is what we did as a temporary workaround to resolve the issue:
If you are in fact running RKM 7.2 patch 2 please take a look at the
following.
With the install of RKM 7.2 patch 2 there were 4 Active Links that needed to
be imported what I am seeing from other customer is either the Active Links
do not import correctly. Or the active links were not imported. I would like
to verify that each active link was imported correctly. If this is the case
then the next step as work around to the following would be to

Remove the run if qualification on the following Active Links,

KMS:Main_Create_SessionID
KMS:HD:Create_SessionID,
KMS:PM:Create_Session_ID.

Please Note this is only a workaround for the time being please test and see
if you have any other issues with this work around and let me know this is
being escalated to verify a permanent fix. But has resolved the issue in all
cases so far.

Subject: Why K.M. continue to ask me login and password Remedy ITSM 7.0.03

Hi List,

I integrate K.M. with ITSM. When I try to modify an Incident, using a
K.B. solution, the system ask me the K.M. login and password. I cannot
understand why it doesn't use Remedy Login and Password.

If manually I insert login e password, the procedure go on correctly; but
every time that try to modify a new incident or change Tab, the system ask
them againg.
The solution i have for Incident management and problem management are as
below:

1) Try editing the KMS:Main:Create_Session_ID active link.
Remove the values in the Run If section of the basic tab.
On the If Action tab edit the push fields setting the Run If equal
to ( 'User' = $USER$) AND ( 'Request ID' = $LASTID$)

I found a similar A.L. KMS:HD:Create_SessionID for Help Desk Tab. I
modified it in the same way and now the system doesn't ask me
login/password more.

and found a similar A.L. KMS:PM:Create_Session_ID for Problem Tab. I
modified it in the same way and now the system doesn't ask me
login/password more.

Now i am looking solution for KMS:REQ:Create_SessionID AL. the kb access
without asking authentication in requestor console.

Please help.

Thanks

Re: Merging two systems

2010-03-16 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

Do you want to merge the applications, or just move both into the same
server?

Things to look out for when moving them into the same ar server are:
- Overlapping Group Ids (Group form)
- Modifications of the system forms (permissions in User etc)
- Direct SQL, PLSQL/Stored Procedures
- External integrations

Move to the platform where you have the most Direct SQL, PLSQL/Stored
Procedures or complicated integrations.

When I have done this, I use RRR|Chive to copy the data into the new
system. This allows for extensive testing and minimal downtime.

Hi gurus,

Does anybody of you the same problem in installing this midtier version

I had no problem with this software package except Midtier 7.1 p4.

I always get the error message A compatible JDK was not found, but
i had the same JDK as before. It is

Even a change to a higher version was not sucessfull !

I have set correctly den systems variable

Does anybody of you an idea !

Where can i found a more detailled installation log for this midtier

Hi Christine,

Just noticed your entry on the ARSList about Advanced Interface Forms.

You may want to consider Abydos Designer as an alternative since this
provides all the functionality available in the AIF through a simple

Force Asignee Assignment

2010-03-16 Thread Frank Caruso
ITSM 7.03 p5
ARS 7.1

Is there a way to configure a support group so that on assignment of an
incident an assignee must be specified?

Reason: we have a few support groups that have 100's of members and group
assignment would never make any sense.

I know I could create a filter to enforce this rule but was wondering if
ITSM can be configured to do it.

Thank you.

3.   I then modified the document and clicked save

4.   I then took the draft document click modify

5.   The I clicked on promote.

6.   That then saved and closed out the article.

7.   This brought me back to the main page

8.   The draft article was no longer there.

9.   I looked at the published article and it has the changes I made.

10.   I reindexed the server and the draft version is showing up again.

I looked in the RKM Data folder and the draft article document never left.

It seems like the problem is once I put a published article in draft to modify
I can never get that draft out besides if I manully delete it.

No ACTL or FLTR can be triggered in the underlying table-form where the

Remedy Reports Help

2010-03-16 Thread Melillo, John
I'm hoping one of the experts on this list can help me. I have become
the defacto Remedy Admin in my company since the official Administrator
left a couple of years ago.
I'm not a Remedy developer, but I have learned enough to keep the system
afloat. Our installation is Remedy 5.1 (yes it's old and unsupported)

I'm having an issue with some Crystal reports that have names and
addresses hardcoded into them and they need to be modified. Simply put,
my question is where are the Crystal report templates stored ? Are they
kept in the database ?

There is a Remedy Form which contains a View PO Button that is used to
create a Report which is saved as a PDF and is then sent to Vendors.
I need to modify the Crystal Template that creates the PDF. The View
PO Button runs an Active Link which specifies the report name in the
Report Information Tab.

The Name field on the Report Information Tab contains the full path to
the report, D:\Remedy Production\POReport.rpt.
However that is a Windows directory path and our installation of Remedy
is on Unix, so the information doesn't really help me. (actually it's
confuses me)

If I can find the template I can modify it, I have Crystal Reports. I
just need to find the darn thing.
Believe it or not nobody can tell me if we have a Crystal Reports
Enterprise Server where the templates might be stored.

I appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Thanks
John

I don't know what you are doing or not doing wrong, but I have the same version

Admin tool crashing

2010-03-16 Thread Pruitt, Christopher (Bank of America Account)
Has anyone ever encountered this before?

I am getting the following errors error every time I try to save a new object
to the server from my Admin Tool or copy an existing object by doing a Save As :

ARERR 303
ARERR 320
ARERR 323
ARERR 346
ARERR 366

Then it crashes my Admin tool. It does not matter what server I try it on it
happens on every server. Now here is the funny part, when I go restart my Admin
tool the object is on the server and fine so it is not lost but I don't
understand why it keeps crashing on saving a New object or Save As object. I
can update existing objects (Filters, Active Links, Forms, etc.) and no issues
but when I try to add a new Filters, Active Links, Forms, etc. I get this error
and my admin tool just crashes.

According to the Error Messages Guide this error means that one of two
conditions exists
I am on the wrong server, which I can see how that is even possible since I
am only logged on to one server or
no object by that name exists, well since I creating the new object of course
it would not be on the server

This is not happening to anyone else on my team so it is isolated to my desktop
only. I also have verified that there is not a space issue on our Oracle
database and our server so that is not the issue.
I am at my wits end trying to figure out why this is happening or how to

Remedy Reports HelpJohn,

There is a Reports attachment form where you will find what you want.. The
data in that form configures the menu on the reporting application where
these reports are launched from.

Hope this helps you find what you are looking for..

I'm hoping one of the experts on this list can help me. I have become the
defacto Remedy Admin in my company since the official Administrator left a
couple of years ago.

I'm not a Remedy developer, but I have learned enough to keep the system
afloat. Our installation is Remedy 5.1 (yes it's old and unsupported)

I'm having an issue with some Crystal reports that have names and
addresses hardcoded into them and they need to be modified. Simply put, my
question is where are the Crystal report templates stored ? Are they kept in
the database ?

There is a Remedy Form which contains a View PO Button that is used to
create a Report which is saved as a PDF and is then sent to Vendors.

I need to modify the Crystal Template that creates the PDF. The View PO
Button runs an Active Link which specifies the report name in the Report
Information Tab.

The Name field on the Report Information Tab contains the full path to the
report, D:\Remedy Production\POReport.rpt.
However that is a Windows directory path and our installation of Remedy is
on Unix, so the information doesn't really help me. (actually it's confuses
me)

If I can find the template I can modify it, I have Crystal Reports. I
just need to find the darn thing.
Believe it or not nobody can tell me if we have a Crystal Reports
Enterprise Server where the templates might be stored.

I appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

What does the location field have? If it says Reporting Form then open a
form called Reports and you will see the DEF of the report as an attachment.

Has anyone ever encountered this before?

I am getting the following errors error every time I try to save a new object
to the server from my Admin Tool or copy an existing object by doing a Save As :

ARERR 303
ARERR 320
ARERR 323
ARERR 346

Try to add the datatype as first word in the comment like this

#define AR_SERVER_INFO_FT_COLLECTION_DIR 231 /* char deprecated - scheduled

 /*  removal in future release

#define AR_SERVER_INFO_FT_CONFIGURATION_DIR  232 /* char deprecated - scheduled

Subject: Admin tool crashing

Has anyone ever encountered this before?

I am getting the following errors error every time I try to save a new
object to the server from my Admin Tool or copy an existing object by doing
a Save As :

ARERR 303
ARERR 320
ARERR 323
ARERR 346
ARERR 366

Then it crashes my Admin tool. It does not matter what server I try it on it
happens on every server. Now here is the funny part, when I go restart my
Admin tool the object is on the server and fine so it is not lost but I
don't understand why it keeps crashing on saving a New object or Save As
object. I can update existing objects (Filters, Active Links, Forms, etc.)
and no issues but when I try to add a new Filters, Active Links, Forms, etc.
I get this error and my admin tool just crashes.

According to the Error Messages Guide this error means that one of two
conditions exists
I am on the wrong server, which I can see how that is even possible since
I am only logged on to one server or
no object by that name exists, well since I creating the new object of
course it would not be on the server

This is not happening to anyone else on my team so it is isolated to my
desktop only. I also have verified that there is not a space issue on our
Oracle database and our server so that is not the issue.
I am at my wits end trying to figure out why this is happening or how to
correct this.

I am running Admin Tool 7.1.00 Patch 008. We also use MS SourceSafe 2005. I
uninstalled all my Remedy apps (User, Migrator, and Admin tool, etc.). I
even uninstalled my SourceSafe app. I cleaned my registry and made sure
there was no trace left of Remedy or SourceSafe on

Is the NAME of the server you're logging in to correct? It obviously is
correct in terms of DNS (or you wouldn't be able to log in), but is it
one

Hi,

The answer is no.

No ACTL or FLTR can be triggered in the underlying table-form where the
search is done.

You may have ACTL connected to the table-field itself that may be
triggered on row-choise.

Currently I am looking at the performance of one of my table fields

have what may seem like an odd question. When you refresh a table
which
lists the Ticket Form, do any active links on the Ticket Form fire?
 Display, Window Loaded, Window Opened?

I am pretty certain the answer is no but thought I would ask.

 This is what I did

1.Took publish document and click modify

 2. This opened it up in draft status

It seems like the problem is once I put a published article in draft to
modify I can never get that draft out besides if I manully delete it.

Change source code or compile with the correct API library / headers.

When the API changes (in this case to 7.5) you cannot use the old api Perl
source code without changes.

The changes are generally minor. I have not done this for this release but
have done so for a previous release. (and the error will be in the same f()).

The Perl source code will have some #ifdef against the API version. Generally
wf functions do change from release to release. You can either wait for the
Perl source to change or change it yourself.

Here is something else to try that I ran into.

If this is the Developer Studio tool, Did you change the devstudio.ini file
settings for the max memory to with
-Xms1280m
-Xmx1280m

That will crash it for sure if the values are too high.

If your using the original tool than you may need to reinstall because of a

According to the Error Messages Guide this error means that one of two
conditions exists
I am on the wrong server, which I can see how that is even possible since I
am only logged on to one server or
no object by that name exists, well since I creating the new object of course
it would not be on the server

This is not happening to anyone else on my team so it is isolated to my desktop
only. I also have verified that there is not a space issue on our Oracle
database and our server so that is not the issue.
I am at my wits end trying to figure out why this is happening or how to
correct this.

I am running Admin Tool 7.1.00 Patch 008. We also use MS SourceSafe 2005. I
uninstalled all my Remedy apps (User, Migrator, and Admin tool, etc.). I even
uninstalled my SourceSafe app. I cleaned my registry and made sure there was no
trace left of Remedy or SourceSafe on my desktop. I then rebooted and
reinstalled them again and still I am having this issue. This just started to
happen last week and I am pulling my hair out trying to get this resolved.

Environment:
Remedy Server Version: 7.1.00 Build 200708221849
Database: Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
Server OS: SunOS 5.9

Is the NAME of the server you're logging in to correct? It obviously is
correct in terms of DNS (or you wouldn't be able to log in), but is it
one

2010-03-16 Thread William Abdo
Hello Ben Chemys,

Thank you for your answer

I have a couple more questions if you don’t mind.

When you say Generally Minor, this would inspire me to try the mods, since I
really need this to work on this Linux platform.

Is there an older API version that works with both 7.5 Remedy and ARSPerl 1.91?

I am not aware of a newer version of the Perl API than 1.91, is there one?

If I were to attempt to modify the ARSPerl as mentioned in your email.

Understanding the full extent of what I need to change is the real question
here.

Can you be a little more descriptive of the types of things I need to look at
here?

Maybe a small example or list if applicable?

Any and all help is appreciated.

There's a developer version available on sourceforge that can be
compiled against the 7.5 API. This version can be retrieved using CVS, see

There have been, however, problems getting it to run with the 64-bit
Linux libraries (acknowledged by BMC as a product defect).

Re: Active Link Firing Question

2010-03-16 Thread Mueller, Doug
Thad,

Just to make sure that there is no confusion down this path, the answer is NO.

Misi is right. Refreshing a table will not fire any workflow on the source
form that the table is from.

A table refresh does a Search using the GetList operation from the system. It
does not use the Get
operation to get the details for an entry. Get fitlers fire on the Get
operation when you retrieve the details
of an entry (yes, this includes the get multiple calls). But they do not fire
on the GetList or search
operation.

Why? Performance pure and simple. If every time you did a search and got a
hit list -- that may be 1000s
of items -- we looped through the list of hits and ran filters that fire on get
on every entry You would have
terrible performance.

So, there is no workflow fired on the source form -- either active links or
filters.

There may be logic fired on the form that contains the table -- on table
refresh, on row select, or tied to
the button or whatever you used to cause the refresh to occur if you used an
external operation to force a
refresh. But that would be on the form holding the table you are refreshing
not on the source form of the
table data.

I hope this helps,

Doug Mueller

Hi,

The answer is no.

No ACTL or FLTR can be triggered in the underlying table-form where the
search is done.

You may have ACTL connected to the table-field itself that may be
triggered on row-choise.

I am pretty certain the answer is no but thought I would ask.

Here is something else to try that I ran into.

If this is the Developer Studio tool, Did you change the devstudio.ini file
settings for the max memory to with
-Xms1280m
-Xmx1280m

That will crash it for sure if the values are too high.

If your using the original tool than you may need to reinstall because of a

to the server from my Admin Tool or copy an existing object by doing a Save As :

ARERR 303
ARERR 320
ARERR 323
ARERR 346

I am at my wits end trying to figure out why this is happening or how to
correct this.

Hi Christopher,
Here is something else to try that I ran into.

If this is the Developer Studio tool, Did you change the devstudio.ini file
settings for the max memory to with
-Xms1280m
-Xmx1280m

That will crash it for sure if the values are too high.

If your using the original tool than you may need to reinstall because of a

Thanks Mark.

As you mentioned, It appears to be related to the known issue with the
Oracle Client 10.2.0.4 as documented in SW00333862. Though the article
offers a workaround, in our case, a decision was made to downgrade the
client back to 10.2.0.1, which was on our original build and is known to
work.

Thanks!

**

Do you have some localised views of this form installed on Unicode server?
If so it sounds like defect SW00333862.  Try the following workaround;

*) start the server with the older client and open the
SRS:ServiceRequestConsole form in the admin tool.

*) Save the background graphic image from the Default Admin View to disk
(Form, Current View, Properties, Appearance, Save to Disk) and then delete
it from all the other views and save them.

*) restart the server with the updated client - hopefully without errors

*) open the form again and add the background image back to each view and
save.

*) restart to confirm the errors are not present.

Hi Listers,

We are having issues getting arserver to successfully start after having
patched the Oracle Client to level 10.2.0.4. Has anybody experienced any
issues in this area? The error message we are seeing on startup are:

Then a long list of subsequent errors from workflow that can't see the
SRS:ServiceRequestConsole form.

After startup, logging into the User Tool produces an error (Can't generate
Application List) on the Home Page, and no navigation links are present.
Other forms can be accessed, as long as the form does not contain an
Application List field.

ITSM: 7.0.3 Patch 008

Notes:

. We have three (3) app servers which point to the db instance
mentioned above.

. Two (2) of the servers (running the 10.2.0 client) work fine and
start without errors.

. Only the server running the 10.2.0.4 client has the issues.

o If we roll back the client on this server to 10.2.0, it also works fine.

. Our requirements call for the oracle client to be at 10.2.0.4 so
we need to resolve this issue, then apply to the other two servers.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you have No workflow selected on the two properties of Row selections on the
table field properties, no workflow will be fired that would otherwise be
triggered on refresh table.. However doing that you may impact the application
by not letting it fire some of the workflow that it is supposed to fire on
refresh of the table.

Hi Christopher,
Here is something else to try that I ran into.

If this is the Developer Studio tool, Did you change the devstudio.ini file
settings for the max memory to with
-Xms1280m
-Xmx1280m

That will crash it for sure if the values are too high.

If your using the original tool than you may need to reinstall because of a
corrupt dll.

Remedy 7.1 and Windows 2008?

2010-03-16 Thread Mark Lev
Due to a requirement to go to Windows Server 2008, we need to figure out how to
best proceed.

I see the options as:

1. Upgrade Server to 2008 and leave ARS 7.1 ITSM 7.0x and hope it works, as
2008 is not on the compatibility matrix.
2. Upgrade Server to 2008 and upgrade ARS to 7.5, leaving ITSM at 7.0x. I have
heard reports that 7.0x does not play well with 7.5 ARS.
3. Upgrade Server to 2008 and ARS/ITSM to 7.5, and reapply
customizations/configurations as required.
4. Other options???

Before jumping into this, I was hoping people would be able to offer
experiences and/or guidance on this situation to help us evaluate which option
may be best. Option 1 would be the one I hope can happen. Has anyone done
this? Has anyone used 7.0x on ARS 7.5?

Your assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark

Typically in the past these events were sponsored by BMC, are they no

I’m pretty sure that it’s Incident Submitter with a Read license, if you are

Hi all,

I have this very basic question,

I have my record in CTM:people form and i see i am a support staff member =
Yes and have aread licence and Administrator permission. Currently i am
able to create a ticket from HPD:IncidentInterface_create form.

My question is if i make support staff member = No, remove Administrator
permission will i still be able to create ticket from
HPD:IncidentInterface_create form?

Apart from required fields and Z1D action , what is the minimum
permission/licence etc required to create a ticket from HPD .

please reply

Re: WWRUG10 Conference Registration is Open!

2010-03-16 Thread Guillaume Rheault
There is no scheduled BMC event of the magnitude of what the BMC UserWorld
conference was.
On the events page on the BMC web site there are only events that are one day
long:

http://www.bmc.com/events?date=All+Future+Dates

Therefore, it is fair to assume that at least this year, the WWRUG is a
replacement of the BMC UserWorld for the Remedy/ARS/CMDB/SRM/ITSM suite
applications/products (and maybe more products).

IMHO it would be a good idea for BMC to officially clarify its position on this
subject; if all the customers/partners/consultants/vendors/third parties
understand that the WWRUG is it', then attendance will be even higher than
last year. I know some people did not attend WWRUG 2009 because they were
assuming that the cancellation of the last BUW was a fluke, and were waiting
to see what 2010 would bring.

Typically in the past these events were sponsored by BMC, are they no longer
doing their own RUG events? This is not a complaint merely trying to
understand if this RUG is a replacement or an addition. I know that last year
this RUG was created to fill the vacuum left by the cancellation of BMC's own
event. Obviously BMC endorses this event, so does that mean this is our new
RUG? Apologies if this was already discussed as I was off the list for a bit.

In the client - go to AR Administration setup, general, server
information, configuration tab. Check the Record Object Relationships
box and save. This will require a server restart, and it will take
awhile to build the relationships, so do it when you have some time
where no one will be on the server. After it's done, then you'll see the
relationships in Dev Studio

Hi All,

Just browsing through Remedy's new Developer Studio. Was wondering
where the Related workflows can be found now.. (in 6, we just choose a
field then Properties, there's a tab for Related Workflows)... Is this
still available in 7.5?

Thanks!

Yea, I called the help desk, and they are living up to their name or lack
thereof. I have stumped their techs and now they are trying to research it to
see if they can understand why it is happening and yes, I did install an
earlier patch and no luck. There is something causing this, not sure if it is a
jar file or DLL or some API issue but this is something going on for sure.
