Re: Business Objects reporting problem

2016-06-16 Thread Thomas Miskiewicz
Bruce,

we are using Remedy ARS 8.1. 3 Mid-tier servers.

Apart from that we got a Business Objects 4.1 SP5 server on which we installed
another mid-tier (the installer wouldn't allow you to install the viewer only
anymore).

In the end, we just want users to print. And we got all the .rpt templates
already in our Reports form in Remedy so it would be nice to be able to use
them.

When I go into the reports directory that is located under the mid-tier install
dir on the Business Objects server I see our .rpt arrive there when we try to
print using the Mid-Tier server w/o Business Objects on it... But in the end it
just doesn't work.

Failed to process the request!!

Adding Crystal Report "PrintIncident.rpt" failed. No authentication credentials
were provided to the FRS. (FWB 00058)

com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.reportadd.internal.ReportAddException:
Adding Crystal Report "PrintIncident.rpt" failed. No authentication
credentials were provided to the FRS. (FWB 00058)

I sent you our config to your private email. Maybe something catches your eye.

Regarding the problem, I found this URL:
http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/errors/14/0/en/html/topic198.html

Doesn't tell me much, esp. as where to look or what is failing. We checked our
config for -disablelegacyclients as the doc suggests but it looks perfect.

Re: Business Objects reporting problem

2016-06-16 Thread Pierson, Shawn
We use Business Objects and BMC Analytics, but we don't do it in the "normal"
BMC way with a standalone server supplied by BMC. We had to work with support
to get a copy of the BMC Analytics universe, and install it on our enterprise
server that all of our applications use.

Thanks,

Thomas,

Is this the BMC version of Analytics? If so, did you purchase the Crystal
Reports for WEBI or you are just attaching a Crystal Report?

What version of Remedy are you using?

buying BMC Analytics will not get you reports in AR System over the web. BOXI that comes with BMC Analytics is for use with BMC Analytics ONLY. You can't use it as your Crystal Report Server for the web. The version that comes with BMC Analytics is Business Objects Professional. Professional limits use to ONE BO module in this case, Analytics. To use with multiple modules (analytics and reporting) you have to purchase the upgrade to BO Premium from SAP.  Or just buy Crystal Reports module and don't have Analytics.

Re: Business Objects 3.1 (BOXI 3.1) Support

2009-09-23 Thread Easter, David
BOXI 3.1 is not supported by AR System 7.5.00.

This is due to, as stated in the compatibility matrix, a backwards
compatibility issue introduced by SAP that made it technically infeasible at
the time of the 7.5.00 release to support both BOXI R2 and BOXI 3.x in the same
release. BMC is planning to work around this issue in the next scheduled
release of AR System so that BOXI 3.x can be supported.

I checked with Engineering and yes my statements are true. There are several customers using the option. For those who already have Premium it allows BMC Analytics to just snap in. For those who start using BO by purchasing BMC Analytics, they can go to SAP for an upgrade and save significatly upgrading the OEM version of BOXI Professional to BOXI Premium. Once upgrade, they can use BOXI license to implement Analytics, Crystal and several other cool reporting options.

Tim, BMC believes the issue you are having is that BO gave you a Professional License, not a Premium license. They are going to contact you.

It is supported - http://media.cms.bmc.com/documents/BMC_Analytics_2_5_01Compatibility-Matrix_v1.pdf and this was the plan for how our customers could leverage BOXI more effectively. We’re trying to reduce the BOXI installs in our environment in order to free up servers.

Ok, you can’t use the limited BOXI that comes with Analytics as your Mid-Tier reporting engine. Fine.

SO if you own the full BOXI Enterprise Premium R2 SP2 (which works with MT), can it work with Analytics?

Anybody gotten that configuration to work?

We having issues with this in that when using the full BOXI Enterprise Premium R2 SP2 (11.5), the Analytics Universe will not install.

Hi Brian,

Yes, I copied just all the files in the one directory, preserving the
directory structure of course.

My configuration is BOXI on a non mid-tier server with just the mid-tier
report server component loaded on the BOXI server. I am able to connect
multiple mid-tiers to the one BOXI server. I just create different ODBC data
sources for each server. Occasionally I come across some idiosyncrasy or
another but it generally works well. We did run into the licensing issue in
that we have 10 concurrent users, where 1 named user would probably be
better.

Good luck with it,

Rod

BOXI that comes with BMC Analytics is for use with BMC Analytics ONLY. You can't use it as your Crystal Report Server. The version that comes with BMC Analytics is Business Objects Professional. Professional limits use to ONE BO module. To use with mutliple modules (analytics and reporting) you have to purchase the upgrade to BO Premium from SAP.

Brian,

I ran into the same exact error. To correct, I had to create the path it
was looking for and probably copy over a few of the files as a workaround.
Sorry, I no longer recall what those files are and I'm at a different
company now. I was told that the next patch was going to correct that
issue. At the time I was on ARS 7.0 patch 3 and ITSM 7.0.1 patch 3. Since
you're at a much later version than what I was at the time, I'm guessing
they haven't patched that or that they reintroduced the problem.

What level of detail do you need? The reason I ask is because to do this, we
have some ASP pages that the .NET team built to redirect to the proper BOXI
report directly. In other cases, we simply link to the "home" page of the WEBI
server, and since we have single sign on enabled on WEBI server it
automatically logs them in and they can do whatever they want.

So we aren't doing anything as complex as letting users run queries in Remedy
and output the results to business objects, we just link over to business
objects reports, where they enter their search criteria on the report itself.

We have the same thing here (BO on a separate server maintained by another
reporting group). Could you provide some detail on where the links pointed to?
Sorry I do not know Business Objects at all. Where is WEBI on the BO server? If
this works I owe you a beer :)

Thanks,

I see. In our environment we have a separate business objects instance
maintained by our reporting team that is used for multiple applications. For
the ITSM apps, we bought BMC Analytics, and for our custom apps we just pull
the data directly from the database in the custom universes we created.
Instead of doing reporting directly from the Mid Tier, we just have links to
the appropriate portions of WEBI (the web-based Business Objects environment)
to pull up those reports. To the end user, it doesn't make a difference if you
have BOXI installed right on the Remedy Mid Tier server or if it's on another
server, if you run the full BOXI version since it's just a matter of pointing
hyperlinks to the right place.

Crystal Reports Server XI, as bundled with the old Crystal Reports Professional
XI, with mid-tier configured to communicate with it as a BOXI server since the
user model in XI changed from 5 concurrent to 5 named and mid-tier doesn't work
that way. It is a huge can of worms, and now that SAP BO no longer even offers
the same product line (as near as I can tell - I have been trying to talk to
their sales folks for a week), we are stuck with what we already have.

Might the problem be because 2 applications uses the same jar files and
they cannot be started simultaneously???

If so I had faced something similar with SRM and SLM and Mid-Tier to work
together but resolved it with a workaround.. I worked with BMC support on that
for a while but they didn't manage to give me a solution but thanks to L J
Longwing, who had faced something similar, and had resolved it, I managed to
get it working. If that is the same problem you are facing maybe there is a
solution.

Re: Business Objects

2009-02-26 Thread strauss
After a fair amount of unsuccessful testing, I was told this week by BMC
Support that it is impossible to use the BOXI server under Analytics (we are
evaluating Analytics 2.5 on BOXI R3) on the same server as mid-tier:

"Regarding the Analytics/Mid-Tier question, Analytics and Mid-Tier can't live
together on the same webserver due Analytics restrictions.

...and therefore I would not be able to use the instance of BOXI that is
installed with Analytics to accomplish Crystal web reporting for the mid-tier.
I still need the separate support server setup that I have now, where Crystal
Reports Server XI is on a server using .NET and IIS, and mid-tier is on the
same server using the bundled Tomcat server, and this server is specified for
serving reports by any or all of the normal mid-tiers that serve ITSM users.

We have the same thing here (BO on a separate server maintained by
another reporting group). Could you provide some detail on where the
links pointed to? Sorry I do not know Business Objects at all. Where is
WEBI on the BO server? If this works I owe you a beer :)

Thanks,

BO uses the following directory to view the reports

During the webex demo they were able to successfully view and print the

Hi Brian,

You are having quite a saga with this. I don't have the server in front
of me right now. I didn't copy everything - just that directory. Sorry I
didn't read all of your email. I just saw the error message and jumped
in. You have dealt with this message.

Maybe try this. I'm using the dynamic HTML viewer and it works well. I
don't think it has an activex print function. If you switch your BO
system to another viewer maybe this will help. For me changing my viewer
preferences does nothing. I think it takes the default from within the
BO system itself.

Hi Rod,

Yes that is what I did as well. My report would not even load on screen.
Now since I copied reportadd.exe over to the C drive the report loads
OK. My problem now is it will not print. When you click on the print
icon in the report it loads an active x print control and then throws
that same error. I think it is still looking in the wrong directory. BMC
is saying I should copy the entire BO directory to the C drive.

Did you copy all the folders to the C drive? I just copied the one exe
and two related DLLs.

Tomcat can be used either as a servelet against another web server like
apache or IIS, etc or as a standalone ie performing the function of a
web server as well as the servelet engine..

Find out from your web team how that is setup..

Re: Business Objects XI - Solaris MidTier integration issues - RESOLVED

2008-05-28 Thread Prashant Patil
Hi All,

My problem is solved. I am able to see reports on the web. The problem was
in ARWebReportViewer configuration - AR System ODBC Date Source Connection.
During installation of this application on BO server I had given a custom
datasource name. But now I changed it to match the standard name given in
Windows ODBC drivers list - "AR System ODBC Data Source"

Regards,
Prashant

Just an update on the problem: I am getting a different error now.

Re: Business Objects XI R3 and Midtier 7.01: ARWebReportViewer Error

2008-04-25 Thread strauss
I ran into the same thing. I don't have the details at my fingertips,
but I eventually got the mid-tier-installed tomcat instance to host
mid-tier, crystal reports server, and remedy knowledge management all at
once on my development web server (Win2K3 Ent x86). I know I had to
install mid-tier and its tomcat server first, then RKM, and Crystal
using java and the existing tomcat. RKM and Crystal share a preinstalled
SQL Server 2005 instance for their respective databases. In ALL cases I
use the tomcat web server (catalina) instead of IIS when using java (use
IIS only with .NET crystal). Performance is significantly better that
way.

This doesn't work at all for my production mid-tier server since it is
Win2K3 Ent R2 x64 and the 32-bit Crystal Reports XI refused to install
there properly. For production, to simplify maintenance, crystal uses
IIS and .NET and mid-tier uses java and tomcat (on the separate 32-bit
reporting web server). The production mid-tier server has one tomcat
instance for mid-tier (and flashboards), and another internal to the
Kinetic Data applications install. Even RKM got a separate web server,
shared with AIE. The rationale for separating these services onto
separate machines becomes evident whenever one of the components needs
to be patched or upgraded.

Re: Business Objects XI R3 and Midtier 7.01: ARWebReportViewer Error

2008-04-25 Thread William Rentfrow
We actually had this working with BO XI without the shared file space. We just
had to define the /arreports context root correctly in Tomcat which we did by
coping the arsys.xml file and editing it.

I say "had" because that was on a sandbox development server that we just took
down. We'll be setting up 4 more copies of it.

As far as Tomcat - you want to check the location of your ISAPI connector for
Tomcat after it's installed. This is under the properties of the default
website for IIS. You'll need to gooogle for the settings and make sure it's
looking at the right Tomcat install.

And again - as long as it's a compatible one for both servers it shouldn't
matter which is being used - but make sure Tomcat is working correctly before
going any further.

Thanks. My Tomcat default page is accessible. I'm in the process of
installing the midtier with the ARWebReportViewer in the BOXI server. We'll
see if this will make it easier for me. I appreciate your feedback.

Re: Business Objects XI R3 and Midtier 7.01: ARWebReportViewer Error

2008-04-24 Thread strauss
If mid-tier is on one machine and BOXI is on another, they must have
shared file space between them on which to move the actual .rpt files
that must be served up. BMC has several documents describing how to do
this; I found it MUCH easier to simply put another instance of mid-tier
on the BOXI server and indicate that in the report settings on the
primary mid-tier. Then it actually creates the .rpt file in the
\reports directory of the mid-tier on the BOXI server, and file-level
access by BOXI is no longer an issue.

There's a LOT of stuff to do to get this to work.

First - make sure Tomcat is alive and well. Go to http://

Hi All,

I'm in the process of setting up the BO XI R3 server with the
ARWebReportViewer so users can view reports on the web.

The ARS ODBC and the ARWebReportViewer are installed on the BO XI server.
The midtier is installed on a separate machine, the BO XI server has no
midtier. BO XI Server used Tomcat 5.5 as the default webserver and MySQL as
the database.

However, when I tried to access the ARWebReportViewer URL:
 http:// :8080/arreports/shared/config/configreport.jsp.
I'm getting the following error:

HTTP Status 404 - /arreports/shared/config/configreport.jsp
Status reportmessage /arreports/shared/config/configreport.jspdescription
The requested resource (/arreports/shared/config/configreport.jsp) is not
available.

Any ideas why I'm not able to access the URL?

Thanks in advance.

We have done the same thing (started with BO-5 and are now on XI) using the
standard views created (we are on SQL Server though).

The only trick is the "DateAdd(xxx)" function needed to convert the integer ->
date/time.

However this spring I had a note from my sales contact that BMC was to be
creating BO-Universes available for ITSM 7. Has anyone heard of these being
available? I checked my saved email and it indicated about this timeframe for
release.
