When the user select on the table field, I want the user to be able to
select multiple Record ID's within the table, and merge these records together

I know if the user selects 1 record, and then presses a button workflow

records in the table and an action is triggered. I hope this is possible.

Is it possible to populate a field as you typing in another
fieldlike real time information and not populating it after losing

What I am trying to do is while you tying into a text field it should
display how many characters are left for you to type in another text
field like the example below.

Any Ideas?

Ok I understand what the entry means, what I cannot find is, what is causing

Yes Multiple selection of tables is allowed (This is controlled by the Field
Properties -> Advanced Display -> Single Selection Allowed and User Selection
Allowed checkboxes). You can then trigger the action with a button on the form
or the Return Table or Level Double Click action. You will have to write your
own workflow to collect the list of selected rows (I have done this with a
Guide that does a Table Loop on Selected Rows Only)

Hello Oracle4Me..

If you mean on the immediate selection of multiple records for the ARS to know
that multiple records have been selected, no ARS has no way of knowing that.
You have to create another action like a button which needs to be presssed to
process the multiple records that have been selected.

The most you could do use use interval which may be a bad idea cause if the
user changes the selection while the system is processing stuff, you might get
unexpected results..

Cheers

Workflow newbie

2010-03-12 Thread Larry Barnes
Good morning,

I have created 2 Filters that run against any non-Standard Change
Request.

The first filters executes on "Modify" and the Run If statement is: (
'Change Request Status' > "Planning In Progress") AND ('Change Type' !=
"Standard Change")

If true it reads a filed from another from, "CHG:Associations" with a
Set Fields If statement:
  ( 'Request ID02' = $Infrastructure Change ID$) AND ( 'Request
Type01' = "Configuration Item")

A temp filed called: z1D CI_RelationshipCheck is set to the value
found in the $Request ID02$ field.

The second filter runs after the first (execution order is 1 higher) and
also Executes on "Modify"
  The Run if statement is:
  ( 'z1D CI_RelationshipCheck' = $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Change Request
Status' > "Planning In Progress") and ('Change Type' != "Standard
Change")

All seems to work well, if a CI has not been related to the ticket then
an error message pops up on the screen.

What I'm trying to do, and can't figure out is,
* Once the ticket is modified the Change Request Status Field
gets changed from
"Planning In Progress" to "Scheduled for Review"
* If there is no related CI then I want this field changed back
to "Planning In Progress".
* The user is required to select the "Next Stage" option in the
Progress Flow bar in
order to have the status changed back.
(This is what I'm trying to avoid having the user do)

Can this be done with in the second filter? This is where I'm stuck, I
would like to make this a better process than selecting the Next Stage
option twice to reset this field value.

I come form the old days of programming and having requiring the user to
select the Next Stage option twice to reset the Status filed seems like
poor programming.

Thanks for your time in looking at my dilemma,

Larry B.

Merge Workflow

2010-04-16 Thread Kemes, Lisa
I have a Filter that sets a field on Submit. I have another Filter that sets
the same field (with slightly different data) on Modify. I made the mistake of
adding Merge to my Submit Filter, thinking (foolishly) that it would only do
what I needed it to do if the Merge was a "submit" or new record. Well it did
what I wanted the Submit Filter to do even though my Merge was updating records.

I know how to fix this (make a separate Merge Filter) but does this happen to
anyone else? A Merge is a Merge I guess whether you are creating a new record
or updating

Unless I have not understood what you want right, I think this is fairly
simple..

If there is no semi colon after the last value, count the number of semi colons
in the string, by running a loop on the string while looking for the semicolon
using something like strstr() and then add 1 to get the number of values
separated by semicolons...

If there are some strings that end with a semi colon, then add some sub logic
to see what the final character in the string is...

If you were to replace the semicolon's with Null values, then the difference
in length between the two strings would give you a count.

zLen = LENGTH($Dept$)
zTmp = REPLACE($Dept$,";","")
zInt = LENGTH(zTmp)

valueCount = (zLen - zInt) + 1  (assumes pre-check for non-null)

Of course, you could combine all that into one action. Depending on your
rules for semi-colon placement you may need to change the "+1" part.

Re: Workflow

2011-06-03 Thread Joe Martin D'Souza

This would however fail if the last value of the string is inconsistent..
meaning if some strings have a semi colon in the last value and some do not..

You would need to append logic to see what the last value of that string is and
then continue with using what you described.. which by the way is cleaner and
should be faster on significantly long strings, than running a loop as I
earlier suggested.. I like the approach..

Again also if there are some strings that happen to have something like
value1;;value2;value3...

with 2 or more semicolons separating two values then you would need to do a
replace to replace 2 or more consecutive semi colons with a single one..

Cheers

Then its even more simpler if every string is terminated with a semicolon..
it’s the number of semicolons in the string.. You’ll just have to make sure

Clean the logic that inserts the semicolons while adding or removing values

semicolon using something like strstr() and then add 1 to get the number of
values separated by semicolons...

If there are some strings that end with a semi colon, then add some sub
logic to see what the final character in the string is...

Re: Workflow

2011-06-03 Thread Joe Martin D'Souza

Just as Thad suggested which is better than what I did earlier..

Calculate the string length first, then replace all semi colons with null, take
the second string length, and then calculate the difference.. The difference is
the number of values, and since you terminate the string with a semicolon, you
do not need to add 1..

Cheers

None of the strings have consecutive semicolons with no value in between them.
The workflow is setup that when a user selects a menu value, workflow inserts
the menu value + a semicolon after each entry.

I apologize - but I am totally lost. How would I count the semicolons in the
field so that I know how many entries I have?

In this case if the field has:  IT Services; Accounting; Facilities;
I want to be able to set zTmp field = 3.

Then its even more simpler if every string is terminated with a semicolon..
it’s the number of semicolons in the string.. You’ll just have to make sure
there none of the strings have consecutive semicolons with no value in between
them..

Clean the logic that inserts the semicolons while adding or removing values
from the string to ensure no consecutive semi colons in case you find some
instead of having logic to consider that while counting the number of values..

2011-06-03 Thread Thad Esser
The orginal poster has clarified his requirement in this regard, but if the
situation was that the ending semicolon varied, then this could be handled
by string functions as well:
 REPLACE(($Dept$ + ";"),";;",";")
Basically, always add a semicolon, then replace doubles with singles. That
would also clean up any doubles that were in the middle.

Granted, there are lots of vairations to this, but it sounds like the format
of the field is well controlled anyway.

For some reason the zInt field is not calculating the value as 3. I get

For example the zTmp field displays: Services;[space]
Accounting;[space]Facilities;
The $dept$ field values pass into zTmp and contains a space in between
each dept so there are 2 spaces total.

Isn't there a way to calculate that there are 2 spaces.
I want to run an IF condition that states if the zInt field has 2 or

Re: Workflow

2011-06-03 Thread Thad Esser
Two potential issues.
1. Is your database Unicode? It'd probably be better to use LENGTHC()
instead of LENGTH()
2. In your replace action:
   REPLACE($Dept$, ";", "")
Make sure that there isn't a space between the double quotes in either
of the last two parameters. It should just be ";" and then "" (no space).
If the above replace is done right, the zTmp field won't have any semicolons
in it.

Here's an annotated log snippet:

$Dept$ input is "IT Services; Accounting; Facilities;"
--
 Checking zzzTest:Count It (0)
-> Passed qualification -- perform if actions
  0: Set Fields
zTmp (536870920) = IT Services Accounting
Facilities // set fields action: REPLACE($Dept$, ";", "")
  1: Set Fields
 zInt (536870922) = 33 // set fields action:
LENGTHC($zTmp$)
 zLen (536870921) = 36 // set fields action:
LENGTHC($Dept$)
  2: Set Fields
 valueCount (536870923) = 3// set fields action:
$zLen$ - $zInt$

Workflow ideas

2014-01-21 Thread Morrison, David A.
Good day.

Mostly custom site her using AR 7.1 on Windows server and SQL. I have a
request to track HelpDesk tickets involving particular PCs in assets that have
gone off warranty. I have flagged the pcs in the asset file and need a way to
track and report on the helpdesk tickets which have the particular asset number
in either the Short Description or the Details. Just wondering if anyone would
have an idea of the best way to handle this. Thanks in advance for any
suggestions.

Workflow Explorer

2007-06-11 Thread Dave Headley
Hi All,It's been a while since I was on the ARSList - jobs change and
focusses shift. My latest move has brought me back into the Remedy world
and I'm looking at how other people explore their home grown and Remedy's
packaged application code. The master AR Suite used to provide a good
set of documentation but I was wondering if anyone can tell me of new
code explorer software that is out at the moment. I'm using version 7 and
want to be able to search through the workflow to browse for dependencies
between workflow objects so that anything I add doesn't conflict with
other workflow. Incident Management is a whole lot more complicated than
Help Desk used to be and I'm finding it difficult to follow all of the
links around the application so am looking to see if there are any helper
applications. Thanks in advance Dave Headley.

Workflow Concern

2013-07-18 Thread Kathy Morris
Hi,

We tried to set a normalization rule for a class of CIs and it was not
working properly.

If we used a filter to set a field attribute in class BMC_OperatingSystem -
would the filter be more of a performance hit?

Not sure of how the workflow is queried/modified thru the normalization
rule. Is it about the same performance hit as a filter?

workflow query.

2011-03-09 Thread Frex Popo
Dear all,

I am having a "little" problem with the workflow which controls the stages of
task execution. I have recently applied patch7,8,9 to ITSM7.0.3 suite. The
paches created havoc in my ITSM application. I have managed with the help of
Migrator,
few data dictionary queries and a .def backups to fix most of the worfklow that
has been broken, but I am having a problem with tasks created from the change
infrastructure forms. Here is the scenario:

1. I create a change and a group of tasks from a change template.
2. I set the sequence of this change to 1.
3. I move the change to status Scheduled, the tasks attached to this change
move to Pending.
4. I create a second change and a group of tasks from a change template.
5. I set the sequence of this change to 2.
6. I related the second change to the change created in 1 so that the second
change depends on the first.
7. I move the second change to status Scheduled, the tasks attached to this
change move to Pending.

The relationship that I set in 6 means that I CAN NOT move the tasks created in
the second change to any status until the tasks of the first change have all
been completed. But this is not the case. The application does not show any
error. I am thinking this might have been affected by the patch.
So the question is which part of the execution does the worklfow mark the tasks
of the second change as dependent of the first one. Enabling the workflow log
shows me
plenty of data when for example the tasks get created in the task form and task
group form and when the first change gets related to the second in the
CHG:Association form etc etc.. But nothing on when the workflow checks the
dependency of the second group of tasks on the first.

Anyone has the same environment and can tell me what workflow (at least the one
that should check the sequence of the tasks and their dependencies) should stop
the user from changing the status of these tasks.

Many thanks in advance
frex

Is it possible to populate a field as you typing in another fieldlike

What I am trying to do is while you tying into a text field it should
display how many characters are left for you to type in another text field

Any Ideas?

Re: Workflow

2007-01-30 Thread Rick Cook
The bottom line is that it would have to be something that resided on the
client. Can you imagine the client/server traffic involved if it had to
have workflow or a DB trigger update a field every time a character was
typed?

Perhaps the easiest workaround would be to size your field to exactly the
field length of it. That would at least give the users a visual cue as to
how much more they could type.

Re: Workflow

2007-01-30 Thread Rick Ponzo
I thought of one way to make the counter work...you can use an active
link that fires on gain focus of the field and on a 3 second interval
and sets your counter field based on the LENGTH() function. I haven't
thought about it long enough to figure out how to stop the active link
once the interval begins.

It's not real time...but 3 seconds is close if you're a slow typer...

The enhancement request for the full client and the Midtier would be
great but there is an alternative with AL workflow and the interval.
Granted it has a minimum of 3 seconds but you could fire a set fields on
interval that counts the length of the current field and subtracts it
from the known max length of the field.
Now there is the issue of trying to activate/deactivate the interval so
it only runs when needed. Maybe inside an AL Guide?

Hi, PL.Saravanan:

I have a suggestion, but it might be a performance killer.

Create an active link that fires on Interval every 3 seconds, where
$FIELDLABEL$ = "my field", that sets your counter field with the length
of the text. Or, with the Field Size - length of the current text.

Example: Let's say I have a Description field with 1000 characters
Execute On: Interval, Gain Focus on Description
Basic Qual: $FIELDLABEL$ = "Description"
Set Fields Action:
My CounterField: LENGTH(Description) This will give me the length of
the text.

Or, Set Fields Action
Or, CounterField: 1000 - LENGTH(Description) This will give the space
remaining in the field.

I've tested it on ARS 6.3 P20 and Remedy User 6.3 P20.
The Active link will stop once the focus is lost from the field.

The three second interval makes it seem kind of slow for fast typists,
but it works.

Is it that much of a performance hit if the SET fields is done on the

I mean, there should be no DB request for this action and anything that
would process a count would use some CPU time. Correct?

The enhancement request for the full client and the Midtier would be
great but there is an alternative with AL workflow and the interval.
Granted it has a minimum of 3 seconds but you could fire a set fields on
interval that counts the length of the current field and subtracts it
from the known max length of the field.
Now there is the issue of trying to activate/deactivate the interval so
it only runs when needed. Maybe inside an AL Guide?

still be enough C/S traffic for the server to know that the Active Link has

That's a great solution Michelle. Now all that's needed for real time is an
interval of 1...or create 3 active links that are set to interval 3...or
something like that

All,

Funny that this subject would come up like this, but just Monday I got a
request to build the three second interval counter to show characters
remaining. Works.

I was concerned about performance too, so my test form has one active link
that calculates the remaining space in 16 character fields (set fields X =
255 - LENGTH($field$) every three seconds (one set field action, 16 fields).
The integer fields have no label, disabled change flag, and is displayed as
text adjacent to each character field. If you watch closely Aruser's CPU was
up by a (one) percent when this window is open, but you're only typing in
one field at a time. No human-discernable pause, but the workflow log gets
pretty large...

There's no client-server traffic in this, networking's not an issue.

Doug, not that this is a big deal or anything, but if the earlier report
that the 3 second interval AL was synced to happen all at once for multiple
clients, that means that either there is C/S traffic, or that there is some
variable set on the client as a result of the AL and form load.

Plus, you mentioned that logs got larger when it was active. Were those
client logs or server?

I'm not picking at you, I just want to be as clear as I can be on some of
the find points of how it all works.

Re: Workflow

2007-02-01 Thread Hugo Visser

Rick,

I think the misunderstanding is that all clients fire the interval at the
same time. This is not true, as there is no synchronisation between clients.
What could be true (I haven't verified, but I can imagine), is that there's
one "queue" that handles all interval activelinks, like the escalation queue
on the server. So if you'd have multiple activelinks that fire on a 3 second
interval, those activelinks would fire at the same time in the client (ar
user or midtier). As the clients are not sychronized the load on the server
is more randomized. For client side stuff the interval impact should be
neglectable.

We're using the interval links in several places in our application (
www.expertdesk.com) and we haven't had any reports or proof of spikes in the
server load when the interval links fire. Of course you should not be
hitting the server every 3 seconds if it's not absolutely needed. And if you
do, remember that it has impact on users that are using floating licenses,
as each server interaction will renew the license token.

Regarding the log files, I assume Doug was pointing at the client side log,
as each "on interval" link would be logged to the workflow.log if you enable
that.

There might be another way to do this in v7. ( I did not notice a
version reference in the previous emails, but I might have missed it
too.)

How about this idea?

Setup a DVF (Data Visualization Field) (maybe a view field would work
too?) that would use Javascript to "emit" ARS events every second. The
event would signal a guide to be run on the form and the recount to be
done. Assuming that the above model works then I would think that
Javascripts setTimeOut could even be set to run every millisecond
seconds too. (now I have no idea how long it takes for an even to be
processed and you might actually be able to flood the User Tool with
events and never get the active links to stop long enough for you to
actually type in the field too. (So do not set it to ever millisecond.
:)

But that might work and get you a smaller interval than 3 seconds.

Re: Workflow

2007-02-02 Thread Doug Blair
Matt, Rick, Hugo et al

I did have a chance to experiment a little with the event flooding idea this
morning. I have not been able to use a data visualization field to send an
event that would trigger the count, but I did play a bit with the following:

Active link one sends an event to the current window when your counted field
gains focus. I chose to send an event named $FIELDID$

Active link two handles the event - if $EVENTYPE$ = $FIELDID$ then do the
counting and send the same event (named #FIELDID$) to the current window.

You would think this would make a loop that would only run while your
counted character field has the focus, but what actually happens is that all
those events are handled in the same queue (thread?) on the client. If
you're watching the client workflow log you'll notice that you never get a
"Stop processing - on event" message. The event is sent (on my workstation)
about 190 times before the client blows up ;-). Might be able to break this
into separate active links but I don't think it would help.

And Hugo's right about there not being any synchronization between clients
across the network for active links triggered on interval. All the active
links that happen on interval are processed in synch. In other words if you
have a 3 second interval and a 15 second interval, every 15 seconds they
will both execute together (in some order, but in response to the same
trigger). There's no clever way to use some combination of intervals to
happen every second. All the options are multiples of 3 seconds, so that's
the smallest interval.

Thus ends my Friday afternoon,

And. with apologies to Colts fans in the Super Bowl...

GO BLAIRS!

(and Bears fans too, I guess)

Re: Workflow

2007-02-02 Thread Axton

With the DVF architecture, an interval shouldn't be necessary. You could
write the DVP so that a character entry triggers an event. One of the next
tasks I have for the DV Plugin Architecture I am writing is some type of
generic event handling.

Re: Workflow

2007-02-02 Thread Carey Matthew Black

Axton,

My idea was that the DVF field would be hidden. It's sole function
would be to "fire" events back to the form based on a javascript
clock. (So that you can get events every second instead of only every
three seconds.) I think that model should prevent the behaviour that
Doug Blair was seeing with the unending nesting of Active Links.

Yes you could also use a DVF to display the "Character Field" and the
"count field". However, that would require a bit more DVF than want I
was trying to suggest would be needed. (And if a View field could
actually be used to send events back to the Client then you might not
have to really have a DVF at all. Just use Javascript to emit a
"count the length now" signal when you want it to.

Incident Management workflow

2008-03-30 Thread Murray, Greg
I am trying to find a bit of workflow that populates some hidden fields
on the Incident (HPD:Helpdesk) form that has been modified and I am
getting a bit lost and wondered if someone can help me out.

I follow these steps:

- from Incident Management I bring back a People record

- I select modify to modify the People record, and change some of the
Location Information (eg. Region, Site Group and Site)

- On window close there is workflow to populate the z1D Char hidden
fields with Company, Organization, Department, Site etc.

I cant find the Workflow that populates the hidden fields on Window
close. I can see the Active Link (HPD:INC:CS_100_Chk) that runs to see
if any of the Location Information has changed against the z1D Char
fields(( 'Region' != 'z1D Char01') OR ( 'Site Group' != 'z1D Char11') OR
( 'Site' != 'z1D Char02') OR ( 'Street' != 'z1D Char04') OR ( 'City' !=
'z1D Char05') OR ( 'State Province' != 'z1D Char06') OR ( 'Country' !=
'z1D Char08') OR ( 'Zip/Postal Code' != 'z1D Char07') OR ( 'Desk
Location' != 'z1D Char09') OR ( 'Mail Station' != 'z1D Char10') OR (
'Time Zone' != 'z1D Char12')), but I cant see where it populates them
before checking. I have turned all logging on and gone through the logs
many times now. Maybe I am missing something?

If anyone has any tools or information that could help me with
understanding this better I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Usually turning on your SQL logs can tell you the cause of such errors.. turn

Trigger the action or actions that cause that error as soon as you turn on your

logs the PO field is being populated and then the HD tkt is being
created.
So is the timing in the logs accurate? If so any idea why this is
happening?

Helpdesk 5.6 Workflow

2010-03-02 Thread Brad Terhune
Hi list!
For any of you out there running the older Remedy Helpdesk app, I
could use some workflow assistance. In HPD:HPDOnRtnRequesterName+01
and +02. Once you bring up the Search form and select the proper
individual and then click OK, what action takes the selected person
back to HPD:Helpdesk and populates the form?

If I look someone up through Requester Login Name+, it brings them
back into HPD:Helpdesk fine. However I can't find any differenence in
the HPD:HPDOnRtnRequesterName ALs and the
HPD:HPDOnRtnRequesterLoginName ALs.

Any help you all could give would be great!

What about doing your check with Active Links instead? That way, you can stop
the save action before it gets to the server and change the status of the

Good morning,

I have created 2 Filters that run against any non-Standard Change Request.

The first filters executes on "Modify" and the Run If statement is: (
'Change Request Status' > "Planning In Progress") AND ('Change Type' !=
"Standard Change")

If true it reads a filed from another from, "CHG:Associations" with a Set
Fields If statement:
  ( 'Request ID02' = $Infrastructure Change ID$) AND ( 'Request Type01' =
"Configuration Item")

A temp filed called: z1D CI_RelationshipCheck is set to the value found in
the $Request ID02$ field.

The second filter runs after the first (execution order is 1 higher) and also
Executes on "Modify"
  The Run if statement is:
  ( 'z1D CI_RelationshipCheck' = $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Change Request Status' >
"Planning In Progress") and ('Change Type' != "Standard Change")

All seems to work well, if a CI has not been related to the ticket then an
error message pops up on the screen.

What I'm trying to do, and can't figure out is,

* Once the ticket is modified the Change Request Status Field gets changed from
"Planning In Progress" to "Scheduled for Review"
* If there is no related CI then I want this field changed back to "Planning In
Progress".
* The user is required to select the "Next Stage" option in the Progress Flow
bar in
order to have the status changed back.

(This is what I'm trying to avoid having the user do)

Can this be done with in the second filter? This is where I'm stuck, I would
like to make this a better process than selecting the Next Stage option twice
to reset this field value.

I come form the old days of programming and having requiring the user to select
the Next Stage option twice to reset the Status filed seems like poor
programming.

Thanks for your time in looking at my dilemma,

Larry B.

Re: Merge Workflow

2010-04-16 Thread Mueller, Doug
Lisa,

Merge is something that can do a create or can do a set. It depends on whether
there is a record in place or
not. That is correct.

Be careful using the Submit filter as you describe because that will fire on
Submit as well as Merge
which may or may not be right because you may or may not actually want the same
thing happening.

So, what to do

Well, we have just been discussing DB and TR

If you put a qualifier on the filter of 'DB.Entry ID' = $NULL$, you will know
the difference. If it is TRUE, there
is no existing record so you are creating a new one during Merge. If it is
FALSE, there is an existing record
so you are updating the record. Entry ID is ALWAYS present in any record so
there are no error cases.

Now, it turns out that On Submit, 'DB.Entry ID' = $NULL$ as well.

So, if you really did want identical logic to run when you Submit an entry and
when you Merge and it creates
a new entry (vs. updates one), you can select both the Submit and Merge firing
condition, put the run If to
'DB.Entry ID' = $NULL$ and go with one filter.

HOWEVER, you do need to be careful that you don't have an ELSE action. If you
do, you have to use
separate filters for Submit and Merge or you will get bad behaviour.

If you have additional run if criteria, not a problem just AND and the clause
above with the entire preceding
qualifier in parenthesis to make sure it all holds together. But the else
action is a problem if present.

Anyway, my suggestion is it is best not to tempt fate and cause complexity and
to keep Submit and Merge
filters separate. Typically you do want different logic to run on them (not
always, but often). If you want
to differentiate between create and set happening during merge, the 'DB.Entry
ID' = $NULL$ (or != for the
set test) is the answer.

Hi Lisa,

Yes, a merge is a merge. The API-call is what defines this. The Import
tool uses ARMergeEntry() wich either creates new, updates or overwrites
records. A submit in ARUser performs an ARCreateEntry() which is a Submit.

elementary, but it caught me by surprise! I ended up creating a separate

Mass renaming workflow

I would like to modify a workflow naming convention, which leaves me with
several hundred disabled active links and filters that have an asterisk "*" on

Has anyone done a mass rename like this? It certainly seems like you could do
so through the database, but I'm concerned that there is more than actlink.name
that will need to be simultaneously modified. (Or perhaps there is a server

Re: Workflow problem

2007-11-15 Thread Chris While
Hi,

You can loop the results into a single field.

For example if the single field is field is $Mail_Output$ and the
column is $TableFieldColumn$, the set fields on the table loop would
be;

$Mail_Output$ = $Mail_Output$ + ""+$TableFieldColumn$

That way each row in the table would be given it's own output line -
once table loop complete, then push contents of $Mail_Output$ in an
e-mail

Synchronization Of Workflow

2007-02-23 Thread Chandru
Hi List,

I am experiencing a problem with triggering workflow
in a synchronised manner.

Suppose I have
Form 1 (1 record)Order
Form 2 (3 records) Product
Form 3 (12 records) Question To Product Mapping
Form 4 (36 records) Question To Order Mapping

Each order will have n products
and each product will have n questions

1. I am reading all questions for that product
into a char field in Form 2 via a table loop on Form 3

The problem I am facing is, I have to set a flag in Form 2
indicating that all the questions for all the products have
been read in Form 2.

When this flag is set, a record is created in one more form(say Form
X),
which inturn reads the data from Form 2 via a Table Loop and
once the data is read a flag has to set over there also, which
in turn pushes data from Form X into Form Y(a form which acts as a
interface for VQSM)

I am not able to synchronize these events, to make them happen one
after
the other.

This code was written by some one else so I cant change the forms
since the data
for these forms are coming from webservices, and am
stuck up with this synchronization thing. Tried all options (including
creating a different
form which acts as a trigger) and am running out of ideas.

Any pointers in this regard would be a great help.

Hi,

Are we talking about the future or old records?

I would seriously consider creating and enforcing a more structured way to
point Help Desk tickets towards assets (one to one or one to many)?

If it is easy to spot the numbers in text, you could create one or more
relationship records based on Short Description and Details. Maybe using a
guide and a tmp-field looping through the data until all PCs has been found
and a corresponding relationship record created.

When you have your relationships stored in a table, you can do a join and
report on assets flagged for counting.

Hi David. You'll need a new form that will include the asset number and a
field for warranty end date. Load your assets into that, and do a real time
lookup from your HD form against the new form. That will tell you if the
asset is in warranty. For reporting, do a join, either with a Remedy join
form or a db join with a Remedy View form.

The first part can be done with multiple assets at one time, but that's out

** Hi David.

I think the idea that multiple asset numbers could be in the Short Desc or

Re: Workflow ideas

2014-01-21 Thread Ray Palla
Yup. that sounds right to me. Consider a filtering mechanism triggered by
your lookup escalation or filter. With the mechanism you could do all
sorts of tasks like: parse the fields (Short Desc and Details), count the
number of asset numbers, and then iterate through the count to grab each one
individually. Remember you can set filters to be asynchronous and not use
phasing, allowing you to control the order they run in. You could have a
handful of filters that capture a variety of issues, possibilities or
concerns. Within that architecture you would be able to add another
requirement later if it came up.

Kool beans.

Hi All,
It's been a while since I was on the ARSList - jobs change and focusses
shift. My latest move has brought me back into the Remedy world and I'm
looking at how other people explore their home grown and Remedy's packaged
application code. The master AR Suite used to provide a good set of
documentation but I was wondering if anyone can tell me of new code explorer
software that is out at the moment.

I'm using version 7 and want to be able to search through the workflow to
browse for dependencies between workflow objects so that anything I add
doesn't conflict with other workflow. Incident Management is a whole lot
more complicated than Help Desk used to be and I'm finding it difficult to
follow all of the links around the application so am looking to see if there
are any helper applications.

Thanks in advance

Dave Headley.

It is possible - it can take a few hours, and you have to have a decent

Oooo, good reminder. It takes workflow chunks and displays them in a
flow-chart/Visio type format, if I remember correctly. Excellent for
certain types of system documentation.

Is sync search databse useful with ITSM 7? Is it possible to run sync
with that amount of forms and workflow?

Re: Workflow Explorer

2007-06-18 Thread Dave Barber

Contact the guys at Abydos, they're a very helpful bunch (have spoken to
Mark Herring, very helpful fella, I'm a tad sorry we couldn't send any
business his way).

We decided to go the Migrator route, although it is definitely problematic.
It will not reliably migrate our whole suite of applications (our suite of
apps plus ITSM 7, CMDB) without falling over. It has issues with join forms
(do them manually). the migrate forms & data option doesn't pop up with
sensible choices auto selected (if you've asked for forms & data for those
selected forms, why do you then have to re-select them and tell it that you
want the data as well).

Regards

Dave

Re: Workflow Concern

2013-07-19 Thread Kiran Patil
Hi,

It is not recommended to write custom code to perform normalization
activity. Atrium has OOB capability to perform normalization, you may need
to debug it and find out root cause for failure.

Check atrium log in atrium folder where it would be easy to identify root
cause. search in log with Instance ID or CI Name where normalization has
been failed.

And also check CI type mentioned on ProductAliasMapping form and on
Product Catalog foundation form. We have faced this issue because of CI
type mismatch.

What Atrium version are you running on?

Regards

Kiran

Checkbox Column workflow

2015-04-29 Thread Brittain, Mark
HI All

On a table field I have enabled the Checkbox Column. Now I want to use it.

I have a table with three columns Full Name, Email Address, Manager (Y or N)
The I have a check box "Notify Manager"

1. If the Notify Manager is selected, I want an active link to loop
though the table, check the manager rows

2. Next the user can check or uncheck an of the row.

3. Finally when the select OK, loop though the table for the checked rows
and get the email addresses.

ARS 7.6.04 SP5
MID-TIER 7.6.04 SP5
ITSM 7.6.04 SP2

I don't see any way to do that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wierd Workflow Issue

2011-01-04 Thread Kevin Begosh
List,
I am having a wierd workflow issue and I am wondering if anyone else has
ever had this issue. I have a filter that goes through and takes the data
from a character field and pushes it to another character field and adds
some HTML tags to it. The main one I am concerned with is the one where I
add anytime there is a carriage return. So my set fields value looks
like this:

REPLACE($Comments HTML$, "", "")

and it works fine. The problem I am having now is everytime the AR Server
is restarted the system comes through and adds a space my set fields value
so it looks like this

REPLACE($Comments HTML$, " ", "")

Has anyone ever seen this or know why ARS would add that extra space in the
filter? This is all custom workflow.

Panacea Workflow Application

2006-11-13 Thread Kaiser Norm E CIV USAF 96 CG/SCWOE
**

Hello everyone:

Can someone with experience with Panacea's Workflow
automation application answer a few questions for me?

I want to be able to migrate form changes from a .def file
to a live server.  So, for example, I have a form on a live system with 20
fields.  I want to delete 10 of those fields and add five new ones.  I want to
do it by simply doing an import.  In 5.1.2, the form is dropped and recreated,
thus dropping the underlying data.  I'm looking for a tool that will
import the new form without dropping data.  Can Panacea do this?

Also, roughly how much does it cost?

Thanks,

Norm

Newbie workflow question

2007-01-17 Thread Bezhenar, Dmitry
Hello List,

Sorry for a newbie question.

I have several escalations which take data from different vendor and view forms
and put them into different regular forms.
I would like to link these "Push fields" actions to a button click.
I tried to transform all escalations into ALs and then link them together using
AL guide. Unfortunately it does not work.
When I click a button (with a "Call guide" action) it pushes only one record.

How should I construct my workflow to have import on a button click?

Thank you.

Kind regards / ? ?
