[AsburyPark] Next Door Asbury Park

2013-09-08 Thread asburysteve
Hello List Members:

Some members of this group(not me) decided to create another network for
everyone is Asbury Park. It is called Nextdoor.com
https://asburyparknj.nextdoor.com/

The forum is very Asbury Park-centric.

You must be either a resident or business owner to join, as you have to
give an Asbury park address.

I have found this forum to be very interesting.

I also created an LGBT group within Nextdoor for issues that may apply to
same.

Check it out if you haven't already done so.

The forum has Leads that run Nextdooor Asbury Park.

They are: Jill Potter, Heather Jensen, Daniel Baum and Stefan
Microutsicos.

You can ask them for help any time you have a question concerning the
forum.

As of now, there are 767 neighbors that have joined so far, and that number
 changes daily.

Some members are even from the Police Dept, which helps to keep them aware
of things that are happening: robberies, shootings, etc. And, yes, they
do reply to your postings.

It is a very useful forum to talk about anything and everything here in
Asbury Park.

[AsburyPark] Re: Strategies to stop the shootings in Asbury Park

2013-09-04 Thread 2fast4u
All great points. Glad you published it here, for our out of town friends, who
can't join Nextdoor, which is only for AP residents .
I said it there and I'll say it here, YOU are the voice of the voiceless for
AP! Committees accomplish nothing and delay action when they number more than
5! When I hear a politician say, let's have a study, I read, waste money
and delay. Over 300 votes thrown out just so you and others can't govern.
Yeah, I said it! Shaking my head. It would be funny if the powers that be,
enact any of your suggestions! Keep holding that mirror up to them!

Strategies to stop the shootings in Asbury Park

 By Jim Keady

[triCity note: Keady is a former Asbury Councilman, who was the high
vote-getter on the A-Team council ticket in May. That slate has a pending
legal challenge to the election results which could change the outcome if
 successful.]

In his August 22nd Publisher¹s Message, Dan Jacobson delivered a perfect
example of why his publication to date has been absolutely useless in
serving the Asbury Park community with regard to stopping the escalating and
ongoing violence in our city. He spent 1000 words offering nothing of import
to the much-needed discussion on what should be the number one issue for
every Asbury Park resident and business owner ‹ stopping the shootings and
murders. I could go on with regard Mr. Jacobson¹s failings on this matter,
but what is more important is laying out a course of action to address the
 problem.

I offer the following list of actions that the Asbury Park City Council
should take immediately. I am limiting my focus to the City Council for two
reasons: first, they need to lead our community on this issue; second, there
is not another stakeholder in the City that can marshal resources in the way
that our duly elected officials can if they make it a priority.

 1. Put ³Stopping the Shootings² on the City Council agenda. Literally, put
it on the agenda of the Executive Session, Workshop Session, and the Regular
Public Meeting and make it the number one agenda item at every meeting. If
it is on the agenda, week in and week out, it will begin to get the
attention it deserves. If the governing body regularly met and discussed
this issue half as much they discussed the waterfront redevelopment, we
would begin to see real action flow from the dais.

2.Do NOT form another giant committee to discuss the issue to death. It
is not rocket science that needs to be employed to solve this problem it
takes leadership, action and follow through. Name a small committee, maybe 5
people, and set them to work in concert with the governing body to get to
 the goal of ZERO SHOOTINGS.

 3. Direct our Police Chief to implement the High Point Initiative
 (www.nij.gov/journals/262/high-point-intervention.htm) in our city.

 4. Re-deploy the Special I and Special II police officers from the
boardwalk and downtown areas. There is no need to have a dozen special
officers walking these beats and no officers walking the Prospect Ave
basketball courts, Washington Avenue, DeWitt Avenue, Bangs Avenue, etc.

 5. Now that the Prosecutor¹s Office has thrown down the gauntlet [TriCity
note: the acting Monmouth County Prosecutor this week said that the city
police have to increase their presence and activity on the west side of the
city] the Council should request help through their office to flood the
 Westside with a police presence.

 6. Publicly request direct help from the Governor to bring the State
Police and/or the National Guard into the city until the killings have
stopped for at least one year. This is a state of emergency. We have had 6
people murdered and more than 70 shootings in the past 15 months. I can tell
you that if this were happening in Belmar (the town I grew up in) or Spring
Lake or Deal, every resource would be delivered to stop it. The elected
leaders of Asbury Park must demand the same for our city.

 7. Exhaust the Community Development Fund and immediately invest in staff
and 24-hour programming at the Westside Community Center and the Boys and

Strategies to stop the shootings in Asbury Park

 By Jim Keady

[triCity note: Keady is a former Asbury Councilman, who was the high
vote-getter on the A-Team council ticket in May. That slate has a pending
legal challenge to the election results which could change the outcome if
 successful.]

In his August 22nd Publisher¹s Message, Dan Jacobson delivered a perfect
example of why his publication to date has been absolutely useless in
serving the Asbury Park community with regard to stopping the escalating
 and
ongoing violence in our city. He spent 1000 words offering nothing of
 import
to the much-needed discussion on what should be the number one issue for
every Asbury Park resident and business owner ‹ stopping the shootings and
murders. I could go on with regard Mr. Jacobson¹s failings on this matter,
but what is more important is laying out a course of action to address the
 problem.

I offer the following list of actions that the Asbury Park City Council
should take immediately. I am limiting my focus to the City Council for two
reasons: first, they need to lead our community on this issue; second,
 there
is not another stakeholder in the City that can marshal resources in the
 way
that our duly elected officials can if they make it a priority.

 1. Put ³Stopping the Shootings² on the City Council agenda. Literally, put
it on the agenda of the Executive Session, Workshop Session, and the
 Regular
Public Meeting and make it the number one agenda item at every meeting. If
it is on the agenda, week in and week out, it will begin to get the
attention it deserves. If the governing body regularly met and discussed
this issue half as much they discussed the waterfront redevelopment, we
would begin to see real action flow from the dais.

 2. Do NOT form another giant committee to discuss the issue to death. It
is not rocket science that needs to be employed to solve this problem it
takes leadership, action and follow through. Name a small committee, maybe
 5
people, and set them to work in concert with the governing body to get to
 the goal of ZERO SHOOTINGS.

I can
 tell
you that if this were happening in Belmar (the town I grew up in) or Spring
Lake or Deal, every resource would be delivered to stop it. The elected
leaders of Asbury Park must demand the same for our city.

 7. Exhaust the Community Development Fund and immediately invest in staff
and 24-hour programming at the Westside Community Center and the Boys and
 Girls Club.

 8. Hire a full-time grant writer that can be accessed by all non-profits
and churches in the city utilize Community Development Funds for this.
 The
sole focus of this grant writer will be to secure funding for both
 immediate
violence prevention programs and programs that are geared towards getting
 at
the root causes that are driving kids to gangs and lives of violence.

 9. Reallocate all Federal Community Development Block Grant Funding to job
creation initiatives for youth and young adults in Asbury Park. This should
be done by bringing Youth Build (https://youthbuild.org/) to Asbury Park
 and
funding it with the CDBG money.

 10. Immediately bring in the following programs to Asbury Park and have
them run through the City, through the schools or through non-profits. The
Amer-I-Can program (www.amer-i-can.org) and the Getting Out and Staying
 Out
 program (www.gosonyc.org).

 11. The Mayor and Council should utilize their bully pulpit and go to every
church in Asbury Park and speak on this issue. They need to challenge
residents with the following truth. Our churches, our families and our City
Government have failed on this matter to date. This must

 the lives of our kids.
Every church should be offering daily programming for at-risk kids and young
adults. They get their non-profit status and their tax breaks with the
understanding that they will meet community needs that the government cannot
meet. It¹s time they started delivering.

The Mayor and Council also need to share, with our predominantly black
Churches in particular, that the majority of these crimes are young black
men shooting other young black men. These are our kids, our brothers, our
uncles, our fathers, our nephews... The blame for their ongoing criminal
activity lays squarely with each of us. These are not alien monsters who
just dropped into Asbury Park and are wreaking havoc on our community. We
ALL have to be responsible for what is being done and we have to stand up to
these young men, offer them tough love [even if this means turning in or
³snitching² on a relative], and an opportunity to live life in a much
different direction.

12. If by chance there is another murder of one of our residents, the
entire governing body should be at the funeral. As far as I could see, none
of them were at Tyrell Howard¹s funeral on Saturday. This speaks volumes to
the community about the perceived level of commitment and concern that our
elected officials have for these murdered residents and their friends and
families.

The Council should immediately get to work on the items above. This is by
no means an exhaustive list and I hope it serves as a springboard for
discussion and more importantly ACTION.

Peace,

Jim Keady

[AsburyPark] Parking article in Today's APP

2013-08-29 Thread oakdorf
So I wrote:

Misleading article. Read on:

1. Pay for Parking is nothing new - just in AP now that it was PUT BACK after
years of not being needed. See http://www.asburyboardwalk.com/cards/c6.htm old
map for parking along with rates circa 1964...

2. The article FAILED to mention the pay by smart phone app - MPayToPark.com -
many cities are using this app/system for public parking. Download the app on
your smartphone, and you don't have to stop at a pay station - however you will
be charged an extra .35 fee. BUT - you don't have to run back to a pay station,
don't have to stand on line, no cash, no credit card AND you get a reminder
BEFORE your time is up.

THE DRAWBACK - you have to establish an account with a $25 balance - so you pay
up and then every time you park, it draws down - just like ez pass which many
people b about. the city should kill the balance requirement or processing
company - it likes a deterrent to those who only come a couple times and don't
feel like having a $25 upfront balance they may only draw upon once or a couple
time. Other cities it's simple - pay as you same concept.

As for problems - I had two - one resolved by letter to the court, the other
resolved within 2 hours by the MPay2Park customer service - they answered, took
down the info, passed it on, got back an email and a credit.

3. EASIER TO PARK - when they did FREE parking in the winter, ALL the people
living on cookman PARKED ON COOKMAN, taking up all the spaces for the customers
(as do workers and business owners)

4. CHEAPEST PARKING - $2.00 an hour on ocean ave..., $1.00 hour
elsewhere.big deal. $1.00 or $2.00 to park while you spend $10 on a drink
or $20 for pasta or $12 for a burger?? And there are 15 minute short stops
where you can park for free if you need to run in somewhere.

5. Income - Never understand why you have to spend almost ALL you take in on
expenses. And you don't need an officer to run a parking authority. either
outsource it or hire someone (non pd) to manage it and run it. Let a trained
officer do other pd work. Not sure the setup, but that's a thought.

SO - Promote the parking app, maybe USE THE MONEY for other programs that
REALLY HELP the kids and not to admin expenses - like RECREATION and OTHER KID
PROGRAMS.

[AsburyPark] bulletproof vests are a complicated issue for firefighters....

2013-08-27 Thread oakdorf
as are cameras that function,

street lights that function

schools that function

The danger of being shot is real for first responders in Asbury Park, says
Robert Fahnholz, the president of International Association of Fire Fighters
Local 384 — and that's why he says bulletproof vests for city firefighters are
a good idea.

It's been talked about in the past. However, it's a complicated issue, he
said.

Shame when you have to be in fear of doing your job - of saving someone else's
life and risking your OWN life and that of your OWN family.

anytime you want to put a new tenant in, they check your sewer tax and property

and they are pretty tough on inspections.

2013-08-26 Thread oakdorf
Up up and away.

I still say the AVG they use isn't quite right. Looks like only another $20
month... - like having a cosmo on the boardwalk off happy hour.

but for those above average it's a bigger hit.

You need new construction that is taxable to help soften this what look like
little hits each year. you also have to hope that the schools continue to get
state aid and remain troubled - the more problems, the more money they get to
fix it. Kind of like raising homes in flood prone areas. The next genius will
say they have to build the roads higher as well.

in today's press

On the GSFF maybe looking for a new home - given that MM and city have issue
with CH/Paramount.

One interested municipality is Atlantic City, where the city's Casino
Reinvestment Development Authority board heard a proposal from representatives
of the Garden State Film Festival last week.

This is a tremendous opportunity for Atlantic City, said James Kehoe,
chairman of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority board, in a
statement. This event has shown continued growth throughout its history and
could become a signature event for Atlantic City.

2013-07-09 Thread Sharon Boone
Thank you!  For those who know and those who don't, my husband Roland
transitioned into Paradise on 7/5/2013, at the age of 66 from the ravages of
cancer.  Services are Friday at Hunt's Funeral Home, Ridge Ave., Asbury Park.
Viewing is from 9:00AM -11:00, American Legion and VFW Services are combined.
The Eulogy will be read by our 5 children and religious service to follow.
Interment
is at 1:30 PM at Brig. Gen. Doyle Cementary, Wrightstown, NJ.  Because Roland
had over 20
years military service, he receives a 21 Gun Salute from the US Navy.  Any and
all residents
of Asbury Park are welcome to pay their respects.

[AsburyPark] Re: Does it matter in AP anymore if...

2013-07-08 Thread oakdorf

Sharon,

I totally thought of you as I wrote that. I always respected your lessons and
recall that you and your husband raised some good kids.

1. The Senior Center. You should call them 732-988-5252 . Im sure they would
love to have you there.

2. The election. Again, I agree 100% . If people think the election was
tinkered with on either side, then either have a new election or figure out who
is and who isn't eligible to vote, how they voted, if they voted and did they
understand who they voted for - without fear, intimidation or payoffs. - Did
they vote freely.

3. Asbury has had and still does in all areas of the city - schools, public
service, churches, social programs, courts a very large racially diversified
group of qualified people. Male, female, straight, gay, italian, jewish, irish
etc - mix it all up any way you want. This is where my comment:

 - Graduation has not gone up
 - Taxes have not gone down
 - Crime has not decreased

No one has a magic wand to stop the problems. You and your husband seemed to
have that and some luck.

Not everyone has the parenting skills and LUCK it takes to keep a kid going in
the right direction.

4. As for the profiling - when your own jewish princess get's profiled -
finally had to get a lawyer to put an end to it. Funny things happen when a
girl turns down a date from an officer.

Drive through allenhurst - we call it the Gestapo.

[AsburyPark] Re: Does it matter in AP anymore if...

2013-07-04 Thread 2fast4u
Oak,
As of today, I am still Black, last time I checked. Born to People of color,
during WWII, in a public hospital, because there were no
hospitals built for families of Gi's until after the war.

After researching my roots since 1996, when I began the research, using
excerpts of conversations between my father and mother, both of mixed heritage,
I would soon find that I, myself, is whiter than i first thought.

I was born in the South, when segregation and Jim Crow was the 'norm.
I attended all Black Catholic schools because the French and Spanish
settled New orleans in 1600 as a trading post, where French trappers traded
beaver, fox and bear skins from the indigenous tribes of the area. My being
Roman Catholic is no accident.

My father, himself, was an alter boy, played CYO basketball and baseball, being
a left-handed pitcher. He also played in the Negro Leagues, always treated as
an afterthought, by Major league Baseball until 1947, with the signing of
Jackie Robinson, breaking the color line and still revered as one of the
greatest baseball players of all time.

In 1954, I was 10 years old. When William Frantz elementary school was
integrated later, after Central High in Arkansas, a little girl named Ruby
Bridges was escorted into Frantz school by four, armed, federal agents, every
day and is immortalized in portrait by Norman Rockwell's Four Freedoms series
of paintings. schools are now named after her in the south. In 1960, the
white catholic schools attempted integration at Dominican high School and I was
offered to be one of the 5 to integrate and I abruptly told my mother to leave
me at Xavier!

Race mattered then and with the Republicans dominating the House and the
turning back section 4 of the Civil Rights act, with the Supreme Court,
legislating from the bench, watch how voting will change for blacks, hispanics,
asians and other minority residents, either native born or immigrants in this
country.

Look at the riot if 1970, right here in Asbury Park over alleged racism, by the
Asbury Park police and the beating taken by a Black youth while in custody,
which triggered the riot, according to sources who gave me a rundown on how
segregated this area was, which is why blacks and Italians were relegated to
the West side that those in power in the City repeatedly ignore, until it's
time for an election!

As a Senior Citizen, by law, I'm entitled to be a member of the Senior Center
on Springwood Ave, but I don't have a clue as how to get involved! I guess you
have to be 80 or something.

Until this country and places like this city, don't wise up and think of all
Americans born here and naturalized, race will continue to matter!

There are a lot of inconsistencies in the last election. Absentee ballots were
seized illegally by the Monmouth county prosecutors office, reminding me of
vigilante tactics down in the name of the law,
rigging the election so that certain candidates have to fight in court
for the ballots and this is a form of voter suppression.

I had no idea that a meeting of the 5 who won, until the courts relieve the
candidates who questioned the outcome due to votes not being counted and from
what I understand, thE Board of elections can't
negate these votes, because federal authorities should resove this matter.

Monmouth County has to let federal authority decide whether any inconsistencies
have taken place, so yes, the complaining party is
Black and most of that ticket consisted of people of color, except
Mr. Keady. You tell me, if race doesn't matter? Unless you are Black,
Hispanic, Jewish, Italian or Asian? in Louisiana ALL of the
aforementioned were discriminated against.

Ask President Obama if race doesn't matter? Profiling of Blacks in
NY is just one example; see NJ State Troopers, that profiled Black Students on
the NJ turnpike.

Say what you like about Jim Keady, but he is trusted in the Black Community
because he speaks truth to power and we hear Him!

[AsburyPark] Garbage location

2013-07-03 Thread wernerapnj
I posted this in the new Nextdoor group and thought it would be of interest
here.

I've been following the comments about dumpster/garbage storage location and
see an increase in improper location of trash containers. Trash containers are
not permitted in front yards. A front yard is defined as the area between the
wall of the building and the property line. In the oldest parts of the City
that distance is 25 feet. which is known as the front yard setback. Front yard
setback is consistent with the age of the neighborhoods. Corner properties are
considered to have 2 'front yards'. Porches are not considered the front of the
building, they are within the front yard.

The point of all that is trash containers are to be out of sight. There are
exceptions when planning board approvals of developments are granted, but
screening/enclosures are usually required. If you see containers at a typical
residential property it is probably a violation.

[AsburyPark] City Council Swearing In!

2013-07-02 Thread asburysteve
I just watched the video of the new council being sworn in. I think it is
appalling what has transpired.

John Loffredo, Sue Henderson and Myra Campbell went against the vote of the
 people.

I hope the Judge in Freehold today allows a recount of the votes in
question and that the three conspirators are removed from office. They have
shamed this City and G-d only knows what the repercussions will be.
Greed and Ego took over the three of them. They should be ashamed of
themselves. They have all lost my respect.

John Moor should be Mayor and Amy Quinn Deputy Mayor That is the will of
the people of the City of Asbury Park. I hope that the State of NJ will
step in and rectify this miscarriage of justice.

Off to a great start, one big happy family.

And over at the BOE

nice to see an old super from Ocean Twp come over as a temp to help improve the
49% graduation rate and oversee $90 million in 94% state funded monies.

the new mayor and whomever comes in as city mgr has to look at a budget where
there are more on retirement pensions then actual payroll. And in looking at
the ranks of potential retirees - there are quite a few who are approaching
that time who stuck it out and deserve it.

You gotta figure out how just to cover all those accumulated sick days and
v-days that no one ever seemed to take.

Taxes HAVE to go up . Hopefully Istar chugs along and continues to build so
someday, that land will begin to pay into the fund.

I think I counted around 15 cops/special cops around the bw on my bike ride

[AsburyPark] Eat Cinnamon to Curb Appetite, Lower Blood Sugar and Prevent Diabetes II

2013-06-26 Thread asburysteve
, and are very effective at storing excess calories that become fat.
Research shows that cinnamon may actually mimic insulin, which can
translate into fat loss.[9]
WARNING: Don’t Go Swallowing Cinnamon by the Spoonful
Most people don’t know that cinnamon contains volatile oils, and when used
frequently in high doses, it can be toxic to the liver.[10] Your best bet
is to take a cinnamon extract supplement, but make sure it is says “
water-soluble” on the label which insures that the toxic constituents have
been
removed while leaving the important active compounds intact. Currently, most
experts recommend taking 500 mg a day of a standardized, water-soluble
cinnamon extract.
The PERFECT Blood Sugar Solution
As many of you may know, in addition to my work with Live in the Now, I
own a company called SAN, which has been making premium-grade dietary
supplements for over 15 years. Working with the SAN Scientific Advisory Board
and
Product Development Team, I created an affordable and highly effective
cinnamon formula called _CinnaPure_ (http://www.stopagingnow.com/cinnapure116)
™
that is superior to anything else out there. I encourage you to do your
own research, to make sure I’m not just shamelessly promoting my own product.
I am confident, however, that CinnaPure is simply the best cinnamon
extract out there.
* The Perfect Dose: Just one small capsule per day provides 500 mg
of the only water-soluble cinnamon extract available, and the only cinnamon
extract that contains the water-soluble polyphenol polymers recognized to
be the most active compounds found in cinnamon. CinnaPure is manufactured
through an innovative water-based process using no chemical solvents.
*   Standardized: _CinnaPure_
(http://www.stopagingnow.com/cinnapure116) is produced from a superior source
of cinnamon bark, validated to have
the highest concentration of active type-A polymers, which have been shown
to support healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels and have potent
antioxidant properties.
* Safe and effective: CinnaPure is made using a method that
effectively removes the toxic constituents while leaving important active
compounds
intact, making it completely safe for everyday use.
I personally inspect the manufacturing facility where CinnaPure is made on
a monthly basis to make sure my rigorous quality standards are being met,
so I feel comfortable saying that I stand by this product 100%.
Whether you’re concerned about avoiding blood sugar trouble down the road,
losing weight, protecting your heart or simply increasing your energy
levels and feeling better every day, CinnaPure is a smart investment. There is
a
special offer going on right now and you can get CinnaPure for as low as
$14.99 per bottle

[AsburyPark] Try the new COTIJA on Main St. in AP - It's great!

2013-06-14 Thread Doug M
Try the new COTIJA on Main St. in AP - It's great!

http://www.cotijalatinflavors.com/

Last night we ate at Cotija on Main St. in AP. This restaurant has been around
for several years serving authentic Mexican dishes and incredible dollar tacos.
However, it recently underwent a substantial makeover and has made a
transformation to an elegant Latin dining establishment. With new decor,
lighting and a revamped menu, the owner, Arturo Montoya has rebranded this
hidden gem as Cotija - Latin Flavors.

As part of the upgrade, Cotija is going to have a variety of unique dishes from
a number of Latin American locales, in addition to great Mexican cuisine.

We started with fresh empanadas with Oaxaca cheese and zucchini flowers, and
also an order of sopes pastor, which are like thick tortillas with a roasted
pork and pineapple topping. For an entree we ordered marinated skirt steak with
sauteed shrimp (ask for a side of homemade chimichurri sauce for the steak!)
The special was roasted pork ribs with vegetables in a Mexican broth. Side
dishes included rice, beans and sweet plantains. Even though we couldn't finish
all of the entrees (that's lunch today), we still tried the homemade flan,
which was great.

All of the food was great and very reasonably priced...and Cotija is BYOB.

We liked it so much that we told Arturo, the owner that we would let our
neighbors know about it. I'll post the same to Nextdoor.com.

[AsburyPark] BOARDWALK Questions....

2013-06-12 Thread oakdorf
Had a nice dinner at Stella tonight - invited some people down and they took me
out. Got to watch my son work - very enjoyable.

1. Noticed they added three of the new lights on the bw - one was lit. Looked
real nice - much better then the parkway lights on the bw.

2. We walked after dinner and got stopped at Convention Hall - seems they lock
the doors to the arcade @ 9pm unless the beach bar is open - that according to
the 2 AP PD working that end.

3. F-in parking meter got me again - since it doesn't take amex - I didn't have
a visa card with me, I had those singles ready - Thing stopped working after
the first dollar - started blinking on me - BILL STACKER OVERFLOW - wtf - I
hit cancel got same error - I noticed a receipt printed. I got a $1.00 refund.
I guess I am supposed to take this to city hall. Great - like the last one I
left in my shorts - went in the wash.

SAw quite a few cars with tickets. Still alot of people don't get that you have
to pay - MAYBE if they repainted the numbers, people will get it - or on the
street - PAY AT METERS .. and change the mobile app so you can pay on the
fly - instead of having to setup an account with a $25 balance...the guy I was
with was more or less an internet and app - having made quite a few $ with some
major sales of his startups - agreed - pay per vs setting up an account with a
running balance. It screws up the single use visitor.

Something about the boardwalk on a night like this

It's weird.

[AsburyPark] Re: Parking spot numbers...and mobile app

2013-06-10 Thread rzick1
I parked by the Stone Pony Summer Stage on Saturday night at 10pm and it was
near impossible to read the painted spot numbers. There are no street lights
but even with my flashlight the numbers could not be read. I had to walk down
the block several spots to find a readable number and then count down to my
spot.

It would be great to know if the spots are going to be repainted. Also, many
of the pay station printers are out of toner and only print partially readable
receipts.

--- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, oakdorf oakdorf@... wrote:

Are there plans to repaint the spot numbers - at least on first ave - if
you're a regular you might be able to figure your spot number - but I watched
a number of people guess at the spot number - because they are worn out.

City should consider going to zone parking -

as far as the mobile app -

Went to use the app (mpay2park.com) other day for the first time. Started to
register while I was the bar - and they want a $25.00 balance - or more. They
up you when your balance goes below $10.

Here again, this may be confusing or a turnoff for a regular visitor (not
that I don't use it - I look for the $1 hour spot , my wife splurges for the
$2 O ave spots) - feels like you are paying $25 to park - or that once your
account goes below $10 you got popped back up to the $25.

Curious how others use it or how well the mobile app is working.

In Ft Lauderdale - their app is paybyphone.com HOWEVER - there is a .25
transaction fee - again no biggie or a .35 fee if you want a text reminder
your meter is running low. BUT - there ARE NO BALANCE requirements.

In looking at the 2 services the Ft Lauderdale app may be easier - and
quicker and less to maintain - as they don't have space numbers, rather zone
numbers - so you don't have to paint each spot. ALSO, may be better for a
part time visitor or those without extra on their Credit card...

So who prefers what - the .25 transaction fee or a $25 balance requirement?
