Mehgcap: Didnt know about the reputation beeing reseted with the last version. Some people really must have lost lots of millions^^I think the possibility to change the value of armor and speed is a great thing. The problem is that even really strong weapons, like the m60 or m240 are extremely weak without some skillpoints in it. The balance between skilled and unskilled weapons is not given anymore. Due to the high rate of bloody clothes, I am forced to use a strong enough weapon. Thats a shame, as lots of the very cool new weapons cant be used without skilling anymore, atleast not in dangerous situations. You are right, about having more strategie in the game now, but that was part of the fun in older times that we could use all the weapons effectivily. I just dont have the time or interest, to collect about 10 Xp, everytime I want to use some other cool weapons. People that play and level all the day maybe dont mind, but for me, w
ho I just play some hours when I have some time, it becomes a bit frustrating.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160681#p160681

Mehgcap, I once also lost the ammo after my connection had interrupted in a 35 a.c. mission.Ultradude306, Ive already given instructions about how to register the three files on a 64-bit version of Windows on the previous page. As for 32-bit systems, you only have to exchange the location C:\- or cd\ in the command prompt -windows\syswow64 with c:\windows\system32. For more information read the readme within the Swamp-folder.That applies for all others too, who dont know how to register the files. Aprone had included the readme to make sure that everyone can run Swamp. And if you dont understand it, use Google translator or instant translate, that amounts to the same thing.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160685#p160685

[Audiogames-reflector] How to manually register Swamp

2014-01-05 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Articles Room: SLJ

How to manually register Swamp

Introduction:This guide tells you step by step how to register the .dll file manually which is required to play Swamp. This works in Windows 7 and 8, both 32 bit and 64 bit. There are a few 64 bit users who cant get this to work by following the guide. sorry, I dont know what you can do there. There are other ways to do this than Ive described here, but I chose to describe it in this way, to make sure you can master it no madder what keyboard layout and language youre using, because the backslash key is placed differently on the different keyboard layouts. Here is what you have to do:Copying the dx7vb.dll file:If youre running Windows 32 bit, you have to copy the dx7vb.dll file into the following folder: c:\windows\system32.If youre running the 64 bit version, you have to copy the file into: c:\windows\syswow64.How do I check if I have 32 bit or 64 bit?Thats simple. Locate your C drive, open
up the Windows folder and see if you have a folder called Syswow64. If you have this folder, then youre running 64 bit. If you dont have it, youre running 32 bit. Please note that system32 is in both operating systems.Using the command prompt:When you have copied the file to the folder, you have to open the command prompt. You need to do this the following way:1: Find the command prompt in your start menu. In Windows 7 its in all programs, and in Windows 8, its somewhere in the programs list.2: When youve found the prompt, then press shift f10 to right click on it.3: Arrow down to Run as administrator and press enter.4: Type: cd.. and then press enter. Remember to press periode twice.5: Type cd.. again and press enter.6: type cd windows and press enter.7: type either cd system32 or cd syswow64 and press enter.8: type regsvr32 dx7vb.dll and press enter. You should now get a message
telling the file has been registered successfully.9: Type exit and then press enter to exit the window, and youre done.I hope that works for you. If not, I hope Aprone can give any advice on what to do.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160688#p160688

Re: Describing pictures for blind people

Blackbird,I hope this might help you.The way blind people from birth imagine things is determined by several factors: First of all, the environment. We are taught by others that the sun in the sky is a relaxing presence. So even though we cant see it, a part of our mind, a deep part of it, can envisage it. Secondly, the way we feel things also has a relation to our imagination. I, for example, can imagine that a blue sky, with the sun shining down upon you and a pleasant wind is relaxing, and imagine that the eyes are seeing it, which would obviously be more relaxing for a sighted person.Best,ThunderfistURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160700#p160700

So what most of you are saying is that a description doesnt need to be tailored to blind people specifically? That a description that is concise and may contain visual cues is good enough to help you imagine it? I guess Ill try to take the middle ground then until Im able to link actual sound to the picture. Re: teaching myself piano?

I use Noteworthy Composer for reading / composing music, but its accessibility is weak and most people go for QWS. I finally looked into QWS properly when I figured out its onscreen keyboard, but am not so impressed with its note/control editing (if NWC sent better information to screen readers, Id recommend it hands down, but as it is, you have to know your way around before you can get meaningful information out of it with Jaws or NVDA).Regarding learning to play, Id say Dark covered most of what I could say. It really does help to understand how scales and different keys work, though; my cousin sometimes tries to get me to teach him to play individual songs, and he did take a semester of band playing Euphonium, but his understanding of keys/scales is practically nonexistent, and Im not much of a teacher besides, so progress has been slow and difficult. That, and Im self-taught, which has all the drawbacks Dark mentioned. I certainly can
;t jump around across four octaves, and the chromatic scale is actually the trickiest for me at higher tempos, just because my fingers get all tripped up over each other.Actually, Take piano/guitar/violin lessons is on my list of things to do if I wind up in a 20-year temporal loop or become reasonably wealthy. I play well enough to show off to non-pianists, but I imagine anyone who actually knows how piano works would pick up on my weaknesses pretty quickly. All of which is to say, learning proper fingering FTW.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160702#p160702

with its lightning and iceblast, but the bard is only good for putting enemies to sleep or charming, pretty useful btw but its attacks are farely week,1.2 damage even though it has some good weapons. All of them are muscular, smart, creative, clever and agile.Suggestions?tips etc?grryfURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160703#p160703

Re: Describing pictures for blind people

Blackbird, this may be a terrible example, but Ill post it anyway. Keep in mind that I am fully sighted so my opinion actually means nothing, hahaha. If you are a Star trek fan, then youve seen countless episodes where they will discuss engineering problems they are facing. Warp coils need to be realigned, polarity is reversed in ion fields, and all sorts of that sort of thing. You have no real life experience to relate this to, but you accept that in the rules of Star trek these things make sense and fit with the situations they show up in. As time goes on you become familiar with the sorts of things they say in different situations. I wish I knew enough about Star trek to give some better examples. While people who are blind since birth have never experienced sight, they have grown up their entire lives
hearing the phrases and associating them with real life situations. If we can start to figure out the rules to a TV show weve seen a few hundred episodes of, then imagine if it were your entire life for the past 18-30 years. So as a result, even if someone has never experienced sight for themselves, they have a large enough history of examples to understand how to interpret the descriptions. There will always be exceptions, and always be some words and phrases that they dont know exactly how to interpret, but the same is true for sighted people. Have you ever picked up a cheesy romance novel, as an example? The sun was blaring upon him like the footsteps of rose pedals marching forth in the despair of a full moon. WTF?!ROFL!You basically just roll with it when something crazy gets thrown out there, and you use the rest of the writing to give it context. Avoiding those confusing lines seems lik
e a good idea, except running in to those better prepares us for the next time we encounter something similar. At some point just about everything we read was vague and we didnt know quite how to interpret it. Thats all part of the process.Once again, this is the opinion of someone fully sighted, so take it with a grain of salt.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160710#p160710

hi mason.first, thank you for releasing 2d platformer. i enjoy playing and making lots of maps in it.and, I have a question and I hope my english knowledge helps me to write it in a best way.well, in room3 of the game, there is a river, and when you reach to that river and pass it, you could hear the river ambiance in addition of the main ambiance sound, and it adds the feeling of reaching and walking in the river. but, in map maker, even if you add a platform by river sound, you couldnt add the river ambiance and set it to that specific platform. is there a way to do that? i want to make a map with different areas such as a jungle, a river, and finally a cave, in a 1 map file and id really like to have multiple ambiance sounds for multiple platforms.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160714#p160714

Im beginning to have a hunch that KM player just doesnt do subtitles for avi. Try a bleach download with MKV extentions and english subtitles. Make sure that it mentions those somewhere... that it has hard coded english subs. If not, then just google srt files for bleach. lolURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160716#p160716

Okay. So apparently KM player right now only supports subtitles embedded for the following formats.ASF, MKV, OGM, MP4, MOV, VOB, 3GPAt least, thats what wikipedia says... that was what I came up with after a google search. So if you plan to watch anime with embedded subtitles, download MKV formatted ones as theyre pretty easy to find.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160717#p160717

A friend of mine once had a problem to register Swamp, because she forgot running the command prompt as Administrator. This guide will hopefully introduce blind people to the game, and learn blind players to master the game without any help from sighted people. My hope is that blind people like me can just buy the game, read this guide and start playing all accessible things in the game, without any help from sighted people to read the menus or describe anything at all.I will go through the very basics, so hopefully blind people who have never played any mainstream console game before can jump right in, and start playing the game after some practicing. Please note that this guide is written out from the Ultimate ps3 version, and Im not sure about if there are any differences between the different versions of the game, when it comes to the menus. This guide is written out from what Ive read in Berserkers guide onwww.gamefaqs.comDirect link:http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/672472-inju … faqs/66904Without this totally awesome and fantastic guide, this guide would have been nothing, and i would never have had any chance to get into the game so fast.At the time Im writing this introduction, I have only had the game for two days, and I already feel this guide for blind gamers is very much needed, because this game is simply awesome! Hi Aprone,Your explanation and example is actually immensely helpful and makes a lot of sense. I just never thought about the fact that blind people must have been confronted with visual descriptions of the world they live in their entire life. So even though they might not have a visual concept of colors they heard their names thousand of times and can contextualize them well enough to give it some meaning.I guess it is one of those situations where I dont have to adjust to the sight impaired community because they have already been forced to adjust to the world of the sighted. [Audiogames-reflector] Injustice: Gods among us: Game guide for visually impaired people

2014-01-05 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Articles Room: SLJ

Injustice: Gods among us: Game guide for visually impaired people

Injustice: Gods Among us, Ultimate edition: A guide for visually impaired people.Written by SLJ.Introduction.Welcome to my guide for visually impaired people to the very accessible mainstream fighting console and pc game call: Injustice: Gods among us. this game will not describe all features, characters, moves etc. in the game. thats already described very well at other places. For this reason, my wish is to give so many blind gamers as possible the chance to experience this game, no madder if they have sighted assistance or not. I have no sighted assistance, so it have been pretty difficult for me to get the menus written and other details which is important for blind gamers to know.My goal is to keep building on this guide together with other blind gamers, until every single feature which is accessible in this game for every console has been mentioned and described in an easy way, so all gamers understand how it works, no madder how many experiences the gamer have when it comes to console gaming. If you have any tips, details, typos, wrong grama you wants to inform me about, feel free to let me know in the simular topic in the General games discussion room, or by sending me a mail by clicking the mail link by this post. Please, dont send me private messages using this forum. I dont check those very often, and the forum doesnt alert me when I receivve new messages.English is not my first language, but Im doing my best. So for this reason, you might find some misspelled words or any other kind of wrong english.I hope youll enjoy the guide. What is Injustice: Gods among us?Injustice: Gods among us is a 2D fighting game, made by NetherRealms Studio, the same company behind the Mortal kombat games. the controls are much easier to master in my opinion. For those who have never played any mainstream games before, Ill tell you that 2D means: Left, right, up and down. that means you can walk forward which is either left or right depending on which way the character is facing, and the character can jump up and duck. All this is fully accessible to handle in Injustice, thanks for the great stereo sounds in the game. The game offers a long storyline to play through, which mostly takes 6 hours depending on how well you do in the battles, practice mode where you can practice all attacks and moves for each characters in the game, battleing in many different ways, online gameplay, Star labs missions which is, as far as I know not accessible and a ton of trophies to unlock. So even when all features in the game isnt fully playable, Ill say the game have a ton of hours of fun, depending on how much youre willing to learn how it all works.Accessibility modeNetherRealms Studio, the company behind this game has been super awesome and made something which is called Accessibility mode, which can be enabled in the settings in the game. How is how the accessibility mode works:When player 1 is nearby an interactable, a low beep sound is heard. When player 2 is nearby an interactable, a higher beep sound is heard. the beep sound is heard from the interactables persission in stereo, so you can easily get an idea about where the interactable is placed on the arena.Read more about how the Accessibility mode got added into the game at the following link:http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=11640the basicsHere, Ill try my very best to explain the basics of the game out from a blind persons perspective:Player 1 and player 2:At the beginning of the fight, in round 1, player 1 is always to the left of the arena, facing to the right, and player 2 is always to the right, facing to the left. that means, if you wanna walk forward, you have to press the right arrow or

Re: Working on a guide for Injustice, if people are interested

Ive now added the accessibility mode and how it works. Ive started on describing the basics in the game, which will take some time for me to finnish, sinse Im still learning the basics about the meters etc. Im having trouble on knocking the enemy out of the arena or to different places. Ive tried back and heavy attack at different places on the arena, but without any luck. When I can master this and when Ive mastered some special moves by using the meter, I can finnish all about the basics. I must say Im really excited about making this. By the way, if someone is willing to help me on doing spel checking and correct some gramatics errors, it would be very appreciated. Just give me your skype details, and we can chat about it which would work better than talk about it when Im writing all this in text.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160732#p160732

Re: Describing pictures for blind people

The talk of color associations has me wanting to go off topic and talk about how to represent color tactilely when texture/color associations are so inconsistent in reality (green vegetables and fruits might feel similar enough that a grassy or leafy texture could represent green, but what would you do for brown? Red? Blue? Yellow? Are otherwise identical t-shirts suddenly going to feel like cloth/brick/grass/pineapple in this format?).But more on topic, I remember a comment in another discussion to the effect of blind people preferring that colors and such visual descriptions be kept whenever possible. I dont remember the context; maybe something to do with muds? I almost posted that as a reply when the thread first started, but it felt like too little to be much use at the time.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160740#p160740

Re: problem with BGT

Im not quite sure how to explain this simply, so what Ill do is rewrite your code in a fassion that should be functional, and try to comment each line to explain why Im doing what I am.Comments will be added directly after each line of code.void main ()//we create the main function of the script.{//open the block of code for main, everything in this brace is part of the main function.show_game_window(test code);//In order for the program to be able to see the users keystrokes, you have to have a game window in focus. If you dont have a show game window command, theres no way to see keyboard input.alert(Hello, my name is Stinker!);//this will bring up your first message box. This message will show as soon as you start the program.while(true)//in order for the program to be able to check for commands, you need to have a while loop encompassing
all of your games code. If you dont, the program will check if the key space was pressed as soon as it starts, which will always be false (you cant hit space before the computer would have checked for it). With a while loop running, the program will constantly be checking to see if space was pressed, allowing you to hit it whenever you want.{//open our while loopif(key_pressed(KEY_SPACE)) alert(You, are a fool!);//This line is complicated. First, we have the if statement to determine if the user has pressed the key space. If they have, we show the message box. In your code above, you had a semicolon after your if statement. This will always cause an error, because the compiler then thinks that whatever else follows is more code, rather than part of your if statement. What Ive done is to put the alert call right after the if statement. If you only have one command you want to perform, you dont need to ma
ke another level of braces, and can just put the command right after your condition. Of course, if you have more than one command, you need to use braces to tell the compiler that all of those commands are part of the if statement. If you dont, it would run the first one as part of the if, and the rest as code after the if.if(key_down(KEY_LMENU)key_pressed(KEY_F4)) exit();//if you dont put in a way to close the program, the only way to get rid of it is to use task manager to kill the process, which is never fun. With the code I have there, the only way is to use the left alt key and f4 if you want to avoid nastiness.wait(5);//You always, always need to have a wait statement in your games loop, If you dont put this in, then your game will take up all of the processing power available, and the computer wont be able to do anything else that it needs to.}//close our while loop.{//close the main f
unction. //This now ends the program. If you have code after main which is not within another function, then the compiler is going to throw errors left and right, because it has no clue what the extra code is supposed to be doing.I hope this at least gives you some hints, if you have more questions feel free to ask and Ill try to clarify.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160744#p160744

Re: Braillemon status update!

Hey first just wanna say this is an awesome project, have wanted an accessible and still enjoyable version of Pokémon for so long!Ok, so the bad part: Ive been downloading the Braillemon releases from links on pokecommunity. They were all working up to version 0.0.0.9, but the most recent Ive downloaded, 0.0.1.1, doesnt get past the start screen. It lets me enter or spacebar into the first screen, sometimes enter seems to not work or act weird where you have to switch tabs before it works, but then when the voice says select an option, theres no new game or anything else. Pressing the arrows does nothing, like the screen might as well be blank, even though other new functions such as increasing and decreasing the speech rate work. Is 0.0.1.1 the latest version or is there a newer one that might fix the problem? Also is pokecommunity the best way to get the new releases or is there another site where you dont have to dig through a thread to find them? Thanks so much I hope this problem gets fixed, its weird no one else seems to be having this problem on here. Re: entombed races and jobs

Hi Gryfindore.Well its been a while since Ive played entombed but one combo I have always liked is the dwarf barbarian assassin since as an assassin you can hide and do sneak attacks and critical hits. Dwarves can take a lot of damage so they dont die easily also if you have the short swords you can do some serious damage with charge and things like that. Bards are pretty weak but they are helpfull so its good to have at least one in your party with a second job as a monk since monks can do a lot of good things like break limbs and takedown. Use the siren song to put the enemies to sleep then attack them with your dwarf that should do some serious damage. For races I would suggest sticking with the dwarves, ogers, and humans. Humans are average in pretty much every respect so they are well rounded. Also if you want to press grov during a game and type bottomsup this wil add an extra human character to your party.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160751#p160751

Re: Musical notes as wav files?

The wave types are named after the shape of their waveform (square is basically on/off, which looks like squares when you connect the troughs/peaks; triangle is linear (I think it uses abs()), Sawtooth... has something to do with mod()...), sine, triangle and square sound rather similar (in that order; square is the most distinct of the three, IMO). They are all, though, clearly synthetic.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160762#p160762

Re: Dragonflame 0.3a is out!

Hi robjoy,Sorry for the confusion about that, I didnt mean every java implementation. How about we just forget about this hole compiler stuff and continue with the normal discussion, shall we? You know that we both low the same stuff, and its, in battle comparison, sword against sword, with the exact power in both weapons. Its not possible to beat each other. However, robjoy, I do want to start programming in DFE again, but Im so busy with everything, DM2 and such, and now Im learning Vala because it is similar to c#. Otherwise, Id be glad to talk to you on Skype.Oh, before I close the discussion on the compiler, that is, the one I started, I have to say, I was write on the byte code. It has to be ran through an interpreter instead of direct execution of the byte code. Look at Python, for instance. That can compile .py code into .pyc, .pyo etc files, but you have to have python installed on your computer to run that program. A newbie isnt
going to want to do that, are they? No. Thats why I like languages that compile into direct binaries. Its because no interpreter is necessary to run the program. As Ive said, interpreters are much slower than compiled programs because they not only directly execute the program, but they have to parse it line by line, which might be good for debugging and syntax error checking, but no one wants to install Python, Ruby, Perl, etc in order to interpret their programs.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160766#p160766

Theres a few people on here that have been on there as well (theOnlyPKMNMaster is an example) and uh, lemme just say that Im not really cool with how people have treated him, or about how they ignored my and his exploits because they arent just another damn pokemon essentials title. A lot of closed mindedness there and lack of support, which sucks since I need people who can also test the genuine nature of the game.Actually, Im working on making an accessible pokemon essentials scripts file so people can play those games too, but its coming slowly and its not easy at all.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160769#p160769

Well, the movie doesnt sound any different... theres just a tts voice reading over top of it. Brad, the monotone thing is natural... you arent going to get any other result with a tts voice. Its weird, but there cant be anything done about it... as to a dropbox folder, I think you need to assess how much space it would take up, especially when not everyone has the same amount of sharing space. Most complete anime are at least 10 gb and not everyone has that kind of space period, let alone free. lolURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160774#p160774

Re: The Official Gameplay/Commentary/Let'sPlay Thread!

Ill try 2 get 2 as many requests as I can, but may not be able to, as Im quite busy, am making recordings for games I already have. However, if I do not get to a game, and you would like to record a commentary yourself, its very simple. The software I use is called OBS, and can be downloaded here https://obsproject.com/downloadIm unsure as to how accessible it is for totally blind users, however I can say that it works very well with zoom text (just make sure that you put zoom text on standby while recording. The OBS program will let you upload gameplays to YouTube, stream to twitch.tv (a mainstream gaming site), or, if you have audacity, you can convert the gameplay into a .Wav or .Mp3Hope this helpsURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=160776#p160776
