@25, I don't do XAML. Usually though when you do that, it adds it. Tab around the form -- you'll find it. Then pres f4 to modify its properties, or enter to add an event handler. To view XAML, go to the solution explorer, locate the form you want to modify, expand the node, and find the .xaml in there.

I feel in an awkward position now because I thought we were no longer derailing this thread and were to restrict off topic opinions of each other to PMs. I really am sorry I over-reacted to Jade's post. It had much more to do with my feelings about his heavy-handedness elsewhere than his comment re this conversation, and if it'd been in isolation, I would have ignored it. I still would have wondered why people have to start by detracting from others points of view instead of just posting their own, but I would have bit down on it for the sake of peace because that's what I've learned to do. I was het up and went off on one. Forgive me. It was far too aggressive, but I stand by the fact that every flame war begins with people who are more concerned with undermining other people's opinions than relying on the strength of their own. If we don't understand the catalysts for flame wars , we'll always have them.

Re: advice needed. No snide comments please

@Cae, I wouldn't be surprised myself if bi men are more common than commonly thought, as I said, I think on a cultural level its probably easier for women who are bi simply because women are generally freer with expressions of affection and do not have to be perceived as rampantly "gaay!"  just to express an interest, but equally since I am neither a woman nor bi I might be %100 wrong here.I confess, just as I have no truck with the hole "homosixuals are evil!" school of thinking, I am really not a fan of the hole "Everyone who is hetero/bi is really a bit gay" sort of radicalism either. why can't people just be whatever they happen to want to be and let others do the same?

It's said that bisexual men are quite rare, but it's also said that there's this nasty stereotype going around that one must be into one or the other, that bi men are "really" gay in denial, and other such rubbish. I think it's probably more common than the data shows, if still rare, just because of the combination of misconceptions and stigma.Wait, is OKCupid accessible on iOS? I looked not too long ago and found that their questions appeared to have the question and answers all in one object, and that label was put on every interactive element on the page, and other similar confusing confusamajigs. But for the original question, I think Dark has the right idea.

@8:  Do you really have to bring up forum drama on a thread that has literally nothing to do with this?  Jade was not speaking as a moderator in his post.  Come on, people!Anyway, I agree with what most people have said.  Like others have stated, just talk to her and make things clear to her.  for all you know, she may be battling the same issues you are. If she's not interested in you, take some time to feel sorry for yourself, then move on.  There's plenty of people out there and spending too much time being sad over one person for too long will just result in bitterness and resentment.

When a played redspot a while ago i hated that turning system where you had to use q and e to turn quickly. Re: Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

I am glad to see a new online PvP project with (probably) big potential. Nevertheless, want to warn the author: do not repeat Redspot mistakes! Each player must be first of all a human of flesh and blood, not a tank with large-caliber gun and 200-mm armor. This is the reason why I am against the points system. The influence of character stats should never be considerable, cause it will lead the game to highs and to total disbalance. The only way the points system can be safely used is an online raiting. Simply raiting, which does not give any game advantages.I think that it should be right to make one central server (absolutely no personal servers, because they are only splitting the community), but implement an arena on main server, where people can fight by prior agreement.Hope a replacement of Redspot will come soon Good luck!

Re: Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

sounds very cool. Reminds me of pub g if anyone knows what that is. Players can go in teams of up to 4 and work together or play alone. up to 100 people can play on each round. They parachute out of a plane and onto the map which is randomised each time. There are various items to pick up, IE things to defend you like bullit proof vests and helmits, various guns and boms and many more things. Planes perform drops every so often with new items. There is also a feature that you cannot just stay well away from the action and try to win by doing nothing. You start taking damage if you are not in the correct zone, for example a zone can be made around players to draw them more together. Just some ideas there.

You guys are making some great points out there. And yes, I was inspired by the Battle  Royale genre, I just forget the name? Planes with items? Cool ideadAnd about the map, it will be randomised by each game play, to prevent old players memorizing all the strategic spots

Re: Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

I tend to agree, central servers are cool for mainstream games who have thousands if not tens of thousands of players, but the thing is, there are more than one of said servers. You have maybe 2 or 3 in each region, for big countries, like the U.S. its like 3, but you will also have 3 European servers, etc. The problem here is that we have players from all over the globe, and while that's cool in one aspect, its not in another. The issue here is that travel distance. If the server is located in the U.S., people in eastern Europe will lag it out with their traffic. If its in say, Australia, U.S. people will lag it out, and so forth. It could be somewhere in Asia, in which case, extreme ends of the globe would lag it out. Travel time isn't a big factor, but here's what is. It is unfortunate to note, but it is the truth, a lot of people here are from developing countries with not so great of an infrastructure for the internet. Whenever you have this, it badly lags a server. You could have people averaging say 60ms ping to the server, but some guy who is pulling 400's is gonna cause the server to have to slow way down to keep everything in sync. The opposite is true too for people who have extraordinarily fast pings, like 20ms and everyone's averaging 100, its creating sync issues. So, I don't think its fair for people with worse connections to bring down everyone else's experience, but I also don't think its fair to exclude them because of circumstances outside their control, so, the compromise is let players run their own servers, and have a main server only for validation or some such thing. And if someone in India wants to play with their friends in Australia, fine, if a group of people from the UK want to play with one another, fine, but I don't like playing games where people have bad connections that just make the experience go downhill for the rest of the people. I tend to get into games, especially online ones, and when there's constant issues such as lag, etc. it just takes me right out.

Re: Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

@9 I see where you're coming from on the centralized server thing, but I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree. Lets say that I want to play the game with a friend, but I don't have the choice of making my own server. Next thing you know, some guy named averagejoe420 is shooting me with a rocket launcher and taking crates and stuff like that, and I don't get a chance to fight my friend because I'm having to give averagejoe420 my attention. We already have tuns of games that all have centralized servers, Red spot and The Killer to name 2 out of the dozen or so that probably exist. Although, I maybe exaggerating a bit as I do confess I'm falling asleep as I right this post.

Re: Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

Hm, this is sounding a bit like the Battle Royal style of games that are the current rage in the mainstream.Generally speaking if your going to have progression outside of the gameplay then you'd need a centralized server to keep track of it, if people can setup their own centralized private servers then you could end up with all sorts of servers competing with each other in a chaotic fashion. Although you could still implement private servers without a progression system, but have the option to connect to your main servers for progression. With Fortnite: Balle Royal people parachute into a combat zone and scavenge items and weapons from towns, buildings, and crates left all over the place, then murder each other until one person is left. Because of the size of the map there is an ever shrinking circle called the "storm", anyone caught outside of the circle loses heath and eventually dies. This serves to push the dwindling number of players together to keep things interesting and manage game length, otherwise as the player count diminishes they'd have an increasingly harder time finding each other within the map area which could stretch the game for hours of boring crate smashing.Progression also consists largely of cosmetics, things like character and weapon skins, emotes, dances, sound effects, etc. Nothing that would give anyone any inherent advantage in the actual game. I'd imagine the same could be done with unlockable sound packs for characters, dance music, weapon sounds, etc. Unless you plan on going with more of an RPG power slide, though long term this could produce powerful players and put new players at a disadvantage, and make balance more problematic. Sticking with cosmetics could make things a bit easier, since you could introduce new environments with different audio to shake things up, or new character sound packs, etc. to help take the pressure off adding new items and weapons, which can be done more gradually to help iron out balance issues over time.

One thing I'd say is can the whole item drops on ground. I'd suggest making them found in crates, desk drawers, boxes, cabinets and cupboards and so forth. Also, do fly overs where planes fly over an area and drop crates which parachute to the ground, that way you have to fight for the items.

I think you should have both a main server and a private server. You wouldn't be forced to make your own to play if you don't have the means to make it, and at the same time if you want to play by your own rules you can. I like to play by my own rules, I don't like being moderated by another person or team.

Re: Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

hi, I'd really like to see such a game. What I'd like to see is basically what you described, though I don't quite know what you mean. Would other players fight to the death with each other, or against other foes like in undead assault? What exactly do you mean with "the powers of nature". Do you mean the ability to say ensnare your enemies in a tangle of vines, or crafting better weapons while you are hunkered down somewhere? Regarding servers, I'd actually like to see a system where you would be running a main server somewhere, however if people want to play on their own with possibly less lag, they can set up their own servers. They would be able to toggle whether the server should be public or private. If it is public, you can see it in the server list and everyone can join and host games on it. If it is private, you will have to enter the IP of the server, or its address to connect to it.

Looking for the advice on the game I'm working on

Hello,I am starting to work on a game. It would be the first person survival game. You would connect to the server with other players, and...The round would start, everyone would be given a knife, and the goal would be to be the winner, just be alone on a map. How you would accomplish this depends just on your creativity. Will you fight for your life? Or will you just escape from your enemies? Or maybe you'll use powers of the nature to protect you?I have some questions, as I don't want the game to be overloaded with the features.1. What would you like to see in a title like that?2. Should there be some kind of a points system? For example, you are the winner and you are given some points to spend on upgrading your char for the next plays?3. Central or player run servers?I am taking this project very serious, so comments are highly appreciated.Regards,N

Advice for managing MacOS and Windows OS

Hello,I'm not sure how to proceed with my situation.I am running a MacBook Pro Mid-2015 with High Sierra and Windows 10 bootcamped.  My machine works just great, but bootcamped Windows obviously is not optimal for energy consumption for a Mac machine.  I get maybe 3-4 hours battery out of this computer running the Windows side (I've posted about this before), and wasn't sure what to do.I was debating getting a portable battery with 20,400 MAH.  This could charge my machine about 2 & 1/2 times, giving me up to 10 hours on Windows.I was also contemplating getting a Windows machine on its own.  I was looking at a Dell Inspiron 155000 or a Lenovo Thinkpad X270.Getting another machine entirely would definitely be more money, but getting a battery exhausts convenience, what with connecting a cord in a classroom environment (for college) and placing the battery somewhere out of harm's way (I also have a guide dog).I do like having one machine that can do both, which is part of the reason why I bought this MBP, but getting a day's worth of battery wasn't part of the deal for bootcamp. What should I do?  Should I get a battery, or another Windows-only machine?Best,Luke

Re: Skullgirls / 2D fighting games advice for a complete beginner

The last questions:1: I've never had the controller vibrate when playing Skullgirls, I don't think its supported unfortunately.2: I don't think its impossible to beat sighted players online. I think higher level competitive play would not be possible, but I think online play in general could be doable. If you try it, keep in mind that initially you will be ranked against random players that don't match your skill level so you may be obliterated regardless. For tips:Don't attempt to play as a team of two or three first. Learn the game mechanics and how a single character plays, then branch out. Play through that character's tutorial and a story/some arcade modes on normal to learn how the flow of the game works. If you are stuck with any tutorial section, you can play the game and come back to it later. Playing the game will most likely help you learn enough to get through it.Don't just throw out attacks randomly. A lot of them leave you slow to recover after hitting or being blocked randomly so your opponent can hit you with a faster attack and combo you.Learn what the notations mean and practice using them a lot:lp, mp, hp: light punch, medium punch, heavy punchlk, mk, hk: light kick, medium kick, heavy kick.qcf, qcb: quarter circle forward (down, down forward, forward) quarter circle back (down, down back, back)dp (dragon punch): forward, down forward, forwardCharge motion: For parasoul for example, for her napalm shots you have to hold back for a set amount of time, then quickly hit forward and a punch.

Skullgirls / 2D fighting games advice for a complete beginner

Hey guys!Well, today I finally managed to do something that I've been wanting to do for the longest time: I installed Windows 10 on my Mac using Boot Camp, then downloaded the Steam client and created an account. It was a bit tricky, especially since I don't really use Windows a lot, but using the many awesome tips and tricks on here I was able to get it all set up eventually. So then, I began looking into which mainstream game I should start with and soon came across Skullgirls, which I then purchased and downloaded. And really, I guess that was probably the best choice I could have made, as it really is totally amazing what the developer has done in order to get this to work with screen readers! Also, I picked up and dusted off my Logitech Cordless Rumble Pad 2, which I think I received as a Christmas present a very long time ago, but which I have never actually used for anything really. That setup was very painless and I was excited to see that Skullgirls recognized the controller in no time. Not sure how most of you guys play this and similar games, but I'm pretty sure that using a controller is much more efficient than using the keyboard, but please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. So here I am, just managed to complete some of the tutorials, though I'm still not sure how to do any of the advanced moves / combos. But then, I've never really played any such games previously, so I guess that's normal...I'll probably just have to figure this out step-by-step, but was wondering if there might be anybody on here who may be willing to help me out? Some tips would definitely be greatly appreciated, or if anybody would be interested on doing a Skype session and doing some online fights, that would be totally awesome.I could probably just create a lobby and try fighting whoever decides to join, but since I'll probably end up failing horribly, I think I'd rather wait until my skills are a little more developed, haha! Also, 2 quick questions:1. Right now, I'm not feeling any force feedback in my gamepad when fighting, even when I'm being hit. Is this the intended / recommended behavior, or is it something that I can / should enable somehow?2. For those of you who are more experienced playing this game, is it actually possible to successfully battle sighted players online, or would they have too much of an advantage as they'd be able to see the screen? Not sure if this question makes any sense in the context of this game, but I remember playing Audio Quake years ago, where you could also connect to mainstream Quake servers, but killing sighted players was pretty much impossible for the most part.Well, that's it from me right now! Thanks for reading my rather lengthy post, looking forward to hearing from y'all! :-)Robin

Re: Considering moving to the UK, any advice?

Hi.I've not moved out of my grandparents house so can't help you there. I can tell you that flats (apartments) are expencive in London. How are you going to get money to pay for the flat or house you are thinking of getting?I'm not sure if someone who isn't from the UK can get disability money so that's something to think about. There are busses and trains that tell you what stop you've arrived at.The fredom pass,, which allows you to get on busses and trains for free. (trains must be in London though and the fredom pass will not work outside of it.)There's com cab and taxi card, which is a survice that allows you to get cheeper taxis and, if you're willing to book a day or two in advance, free rides. There's a limit on the free rides though, I can't remember what it is at the moment, I think it's seven miles but could be wrong.I understand wanting to move to another place to see diffirent countries and how they treat the Blind/VI/Disabled and all that but the problem with that, in my oppinion,, is that every country is going to have its good and bad places. So let's say you move to the UK and find that you don't like it, will you have enough money to move back to the US?

Cool, I'm glad it works for you. I'm a Thunderbird user myself, but in my travels around a bunch of different email lists where such topics are often discussed, I try to remember a thing or two. I'm not sure why Thunderbird would crash, unless you've got a lot of emails, and it really would have to be a ton, because there was a time when I had over 1, and the worst that happened was that it operated a little slower than usual. It was more of a headache trying to sort through all that crap than it was to use the client itself, I'll say that much.

@turtlepower17Thank you for that tip about Pop Peeper, have some karma.I had been using GMail Notifier which is mostly accessible, some areas require that I switch to JAWS' touch curser to navigate.Pop Peeper seems to be fully accessible and does one thing GMail Notifier didn't do which is a big plus to me and that is that the system tray icon caption tells you how many new emails are waiting for you. GMail Notifier's icon just said the program's name, you had to open it, switch to the touch curser, then browse to the table with the number of new emails, a lot of work only to find you have no new emails.Although I don't need the features of the Pro version, in fact I didn't install any of the pro features, I will probably buy it just to show my support for such a nice and accessible program.

The addon is generally useful for stuff around windows 10 even if you have removed most of the native aps.Myself I never stored emails in the mail client if I could help it so outlook express file format never bothered me, though having to export contacts as a plane text file did, particularly since windows 10's default contact manager is rather dire. It was only intended as a stopgap measure anyway.

Re: Need email advice

I'm personally using Thunderbird, and have no problem with it. Do you have thousands of Emails in a single folder? If so, that might slow it down, and you should consider organizing your mail into folders.Keep in mind that Thunderbird does use a standard .mbox file format for storing mail, which should be able to be imported into other clients. However, other clients may use their own proprietary/undocumented formats which may make it difficult to get your mail out again. One example is dear old Outlook Express, which stores Email in .dbx files. However, there are programs to convert those to a readable format.

Maybe it's the windows 10 ap essentials addon I am not sure, though in fairness windows 10 mail isn't the worlds' best client and I was only using it until I'd investigated alternatives as there are many things in it such as contacts management or navigating long lists of mails that are a miner pain.I was thinking about thunderbird, but now I'm not sure.

I'm more looking for a full client. Notifications would be nice, but not really required. I don't need features like calendar, news groups, chat, etc. If they're there, and can be avoided or gotten around, fine, but mainly I would like alternatives to thunderbird if there are any that work reasonably well. I'd also like to take universal apps off the table, as I don't use them, don't like them, and don't care to mess with them much Thundrebird uses toast notifications when mails come in, its more like a check every 15 minutes type of thing, but that's OK.Basically, is anyone using a mail client that they're happy with on PC, that does what they need it to do, is reasonably accessible, and makes it easier to keep their mail in check?

With nvda at least the Windows 10 mail client works fine. It does give notifications as mail comes in which helps, thenagain I don't know how it'd handle that much email as I tend to delete as I go so my inbox is never that full. thenagain, it's not an ideal program as it's a bit of a pest to move email around and work on draughts, likewise  is still the odd bug where it doesn't read words as you type, though reading lines and actual emails is okay. it's not the worlds' best client, but I much prefer it to the extra clutter and shenanigans with the over complex outlook, albeit I need to find a better client. I still miss outlook express.

I'm wondering what to do for a mail client. I don't really like thunderbird, as it gets laggy with large inboxes, and I have over 10K emails. I also don't really like outlook, as its generally too much for what I need it for, and the extra stuff gets in my way. The windows 10 mail app isn't accessible, so, I need a client.I've been using the gmail web client and its fine for the most part, but I do have a lot of emails that desperately need cleaned up. I'd also like to get notifications when email comes in, so it doesn't pile up. Basically, I want to stop being a digital slob, and try to get things cleaned up. There's no way easily using the Gmail client I've found to delete more than 50 at a time, and the keystrokes are just weird and not suited to quick action. So I am looking for advice, on clients and strategy how to get things cleaned up and dealing with new mails.

Re: I'm hoping to check out android next week, any advice?

The only thing I can recommend is for you to purchase an unlocked phone directly from the manufacturer. This eliminates the need to wait for updates from your carrier. then again, you could always install a custom rom, but that is advanced. You may also wish to purchase a cheaper Android tablet if you simply want to test Android and the screen reader. I can't speak for Samsung devices, but I've heard they've been getting better and better. I'd personally go for stock devices from Google or the Motorola Moto phones such as the moto E or Moto G. Speaking of those, is it true that you can't enable TalkBack when you unbox them? If so, that is unacceptable!

Re: I'm hoping to check out android next week, any advice?

@BradTo turn on Voice Assistant from S8/Note 8 onwards, press "Volume-Up+Power," since they do not have a "physical" home button. As For the A/J-Line and S-Line before the S7, do a "triple-click-home" on the "home button. The acception is with "Verizon," as it uses "Talkback" by default, as discovered within the below podcast:https://iaccessibility.net/iacast-unbox … galaxy-s8/@GrryfSince Brad lives in the Uk, things indeed may be different than US models. For example, if reading the vision" section of the "accessibility" settings of the "J7-Perks" from Sprinthttp://eguides.sprint.com/support/eguid … tings.html, you'll see it says "Voice Assistant" in there, and not "talkback." This also applies to the "J3-Emerge" from Sprint as well. However, you are indeed correct that the "J7-Prime" from "T-Mobile":https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-35595, does indeed use "Talkback" and not "Voice Assistant." The same goes for the "J3-Prime."

Hi,@Trenton +1 for the detailed post, however a small correction if I may.If you are wanting the easiest transition from IOS to Android, your best bet is to get either a Samsung Galaxy phone from either the S-Line, the A-Line,or the J-Line. All have a screen reader called "Voice Assistant"Unless the J line consists of something else or the device I am thinking of doesn't fall in the j line, all the phones in the J series in fact do not have Voice assistant speaking from personal experience here. The J7 prime 2017? for one.Grryf

Hi Trenton Goldshark.Do you own an android device?I think the Samsung device might be nice, however there is one issue.Turning on the screen reader. It says in the article that I need to scroll to settings and turn it on that way, but if I can't see, that's kind of impossible. What would you personally go with if you had to choose android? Samsung or other devices?

Re: I'm hoping to check out android next week, any advice?

Greetings! There are two ways to go about it:SamsungIf you are wanting the easiest transition from IOS to Android, your best bet is to get either a Samsung Galaxy phone from either the S-Line, the A-Line, or the J-Line. All have a screen reader called "Voice Assistant" (formally called "Galaxy Talkback,") and its gestures are based off of "VoiceOver" from Apple. You can find the list of gestures over at:https://mediaaccess.org.au/latest_news/ … nd-s6-edge, andhttps://www.androidcentral.com/how-use- … -galaxy-s7For audio demos of Voice Assistant/Galaxy Talkback, check out the following links:https://davidwoodbr.podbean.com/e/voice … alaxy-tab/https://coolblindtech.com/samsung-s6-ed … oid-users/https://coolblindtech.com/using-samsung … e-phablet/https://coolblindtech.com/galaxy-talkba … galaxy-s6/Other DevicesNon-Samsung devices (including "stock Android" ones,) use Google's screen reader simply called "Talkback." The gestures are a bit strange at first to get use to, though they can be changed to "non-angled" ones if needed. To learn more about Talkback, see:http://support.google.com/talkbackI hope the above info helps you out in your decision.

I'm hoping to check out android next week, any advice?

Hi.After listening to the apple avent today, i'm thinking of checking out android. Apple is great but they're not going in a direction I like.Glass phones, expencive price, not being able to listen to anything with a whired headset when charging.I know that I will loos alot of apps but I'm willing to deel with that.If I find android isn't for me, when I check it out in the O2 store, I have my IPhone to fall back on and can update that for a couple of years. So for those who use android, any tips, tricks, reasons you switched from apple to android?

Re: advice needed after clean install of windows on new ssd

The system reserved partition houses the windows recovery environment. If your computer shuts down in an abnormal way, you can choose to go into this environment and performe repairs on your windows install if required. I also beleive this partition is required when using bitlocker drive encryption for your entire OS. There is no screenreader in this environment, and bitlocker will create the partition if it wasn't created by you when you turn it on, so you can just leave your partitions as they are. Next time when installing windows, you might want to select the disk and let windows handle partitioning, by just not creating any and just telling the installer you want to install windows into unalicated space.

Re: advice needed after clean install of windows on new ssd

I don't think it was hidden because the C partition was marked as active, and if there were a system reserve partition, it would have been the one marked as active. From what I've read by searching, it doesn't matter anyway.

Re: advice needed after clean install of windows on new ssd

Ahoy there,I don't know much about the system reserved partition, but if necessary windows installation automatically creates one, so if I were you, I wouldn't bother as long as the system works fine without any issues.I am using bootcamp on my mbp,so I have no choice but to use win10,thank you apple, so I don't know, my previous win7 machines did have a system reserved partition, but the win10 doesn't.Actually, it could have been created but hidden, have you tried diskpart?Just some thoughts.Grryf

advice needed after clean install of windows on new ssd

I just got a new ssd for my old laptop. I formatted it and installed win 7. After installing, I found I don't have the 100mb system reserve partition, which I believe holds the boot files. I only have the C partition which is marked as active. I have two questions, why do we need the little system reserve partition, and is my plan to rectify the situation a wise one?My plan is to create a 100mb partition, and assign it a drive letter. Then open a command prompt and type: "BCDBboot c:\Windows /S X:" where X is the letter I assigned. This copies the boot files. Then I'll remove the drive letter, and mark it as active. I once had to format the system reserve partition because backup wouldn't work because of immovable files, and this is how I did it: by copying the boot files to C, then copying them back to the system reserve partition again after formatting it.What do you guys think, is there an alternative fix, and what should I have done when in
stalling windows to create the system reserve partition in the first place? Thanks.
