I need to pass a record (sales quotation) to a report so the report
only prints for that record. I know it's possible and I've tried to
follow how its done but I cannot see how I can do this. In the forms
it's easy passing using the datasource in properties but I can't seem
to action reports this way.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Navigation Pane New entry

2007-05-01 Thread Andrae, Tobias

Hello Diego

first of all, create a menu in AOT\Menus.
Then, after adding some menuitems to this menu, go to the Node Main Menu,
right click and create a New Reference. From the new Window select just
drag and drop your new menu to the main menu.
Now you have got to stop and start the client or just re-open the current
company.
After these steps the new menu should be visible somewhere in the main menu,
normally as last entry.

 Hey Zappia

 I've developed a ASP.NET web application in C# that works with the ABC.
 Maybe we can share some knowledge?

 I've never been keen on Axapta's IDE and tools myself, and take virtually
 any opportunity to steer clear from it.

 I've gotten hold of the same articles that you got hold of, but in the end
 I used the try-catch block in C# as it was probably the simplest way to do
 it.

 What I did find that alarms me to this day, is that you can get in with
 only passing the username, and an empty string for the password.

 I'm going to be changing the login to disallow blank passwords and make it
 a rule that the default password for a user has to be greater than an
 empty string.

 What Axapta seems to be doing in the background, is to take a hash of the
 password that is entered and compare it with the hash of the password that
 is stored at database level. Oh, and by the way, if you ever forget an
 Axapta password, you can just update it in the database (table UserInfo)
 to an empty string, and the system will allow you to get in without typing
 a password for the user. You won't find this table in the AOT though, so
 you'd have to use a tool such as SQL Query Analyser and run the statement:
 SELECT * FROM UserInfo
 to view this table.

 Below is a sample piece of C# code where I use the TRY-CATCH to trap
 invalid passwords. The user is the windows user, not a portal user though,
 but so far it is working okay.

 private void cmdLogin_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
 {
 AxaptaCOMConnector.Axapta2Class oAxapta = new
 AxaptaCOMConnector.Axapta2Class();

 Please feel free to mail me. I'm very much interested in the way that you
 use the ABC.

 I use it to do all my CRUD (Create Read Update Delete), and a couple of
 other things. I've found too many snags by doing straight SQL inserts and
 updates. One of them being the RECID field that is on every table. There
 are ways and means of working around it, but it is better to do inserts
 and updates through the ABC as Axapta is then the culprit should something
 go wrong... :)

 Good luck...

 Hi everybody!
 I'm experiencing some troubles trying to get the return values for the
 IAxapta objects of the Business connector.

 For example, official documentation (AxDvgCOMUs.chm) claims that

 HRESULT Logon2(
   [in, optional] VARIANT user,
   [in, optional] VARIANT userPassword,
   [in, optional] VARIANT company,
   [in, optional] VARIANT language,
   [in, optional] VARIANT serverManager,

   [in, optional] VARIANT configuration,
   [in, optional] VARIANT isWebUser,
   [in, optional] VARIANT reserved2,
   [in, optional] VARIANT reserved3
 );

 is the declaration of the Logon2 method (defined in the IAxapta2
 interface)

 Official help claims also what follows:

 The return value obtained from the returned HRESULT is one of the
 following:

 S_OK  Success
 E_FAILGeneral failure
 E_INVALIDARG One or more of the arguments is

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: SQL Server timeout

2006-02-07 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi,
this seems to be a normal behaviour when you use a named instance of SQL
server, as you do (local\AXMSDE001).
When you need to disconnect from the network while working with Axapta just
stop Axapta, stop the SQL service, disconnect from network, wait some 10 - 15
seconds and then start SQL again. Now everything should work.
The reason is that the connection to the *named* instance seems to use the IP
address to connect - and this one will change after e.g. disconnecting from a
DHCP service.

 Thanks David, unfortunately that didn't help.

 I've made an additional discovery. If I'm connected to my work
network, it behaves normally. Once I disconnect, I get these errors.
It could be some sort of name resolution problem. Axapta does seem to
think that the DB is on the network. It's not, it's on the same
machine and always has been. Any ideas at all apreciated because, at
present, Axapta is useless to me.

   Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] SQL Server timeout

   My Axapta 3 demo was working fine. It started throwing connection
   errors occassionally. They have been increasing over the last week or
   so and now I find I can't log in at all as the timeout occurs before
   the login dlg is shown. The error is:

   --
   SQL has reported the following error:

   [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired. Connect
   information was

Userid=[bmssa],Database=[AXDB],Server=[(local)\AXMSDE001],DSN=[AXMSDE001],
   Other=[]

   You may refer to the error log file for further details.

   Retry the operation
   --

   Previously, a retry would get things going again, sometimes after
   several attempts. Now, nothing works. I've done some reading around
   regarding SQL Server timeouts and tried reinstalling both Axapta and
   the Desktop SQL Engine numerous times without success. The log files
   and system event log contain nothing that I can relate to this.

   The one thing I have noticed is that the AXMSDE001 datasource doesn't
   connect if the local domain is used. If I change it to use
   garys-laptop\AXMSDE001 (the machine name) it connects. The error
   shows that Axapta is trying to use local. What I don't understand is
   why local fails. Changing the datasource to use garys-laptop doesn't
   stop Axapta failing, even though the datasource connects.

   As always, any ideas are appreciated.

   Thanks,

   Gary.

Hello there,

I was wondering what the Type field in the form Users online is actually
displaying.

All our users are running Thin on Citrix, but some displayed connections
are of type Thin, some of type NotAOS. We have NO COM connections.

The strange thing is, that we have two Axapta instances running on one
single machine. One is displayed as Thin, the other one as NotAOS.

Running Axapta 3.0 SP3.

Any input is highly appreciated.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Users online - Type field ?

2006-01-13 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi Jens,
always keep in mind, that an AOS cluster just means that there are two (or
more) servers for one application and one database - there is no such thing as
a common administration for these servers.
So each client is connected to its own server.

Hmm, it seems like this feature originates from the pre cluster age ... :-)

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch-Job running on AOS?

2005-11-07 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi Herbert,

1): If you run the batch server at night, you will use one (or more) of the
absent normal user licenses - Axapta licensing is per concurrent user ;-)
2): you could set up a 3-tier fat client an the AOS server, so you don't need
an additional machine.
You could start that client automatically each night and shut it down in the
morning.

3) ok - this one is still not very nice...

Hi!

I know about the batch-server. Sorry, if I didn't mention.

But there a several things, I do not like:
1.) I need a separate user-license for the batch-server. (Why? There is no
USER-interaction needed.)
2.) I need a machine for the batch-server. (Why? AOS-Servers often are idle
over night.)
3.) I have to monitor the batch-server by using Terminal-Services or the
console. (This kind of monitoring is very cumbersome.)

Now I see, there is no technical possibility to run jobs on the aos (without
GUI, without ax32.exe).

But if the AOS would be able to do my jobs, and if I had smooth monitoring
tools, I would not need batch-servers. Especially thinking of jobs, which
can be done overnight - I would not need a separate machine, because most of
our customers do not work at that time.

Yes. If you intend to offset the load on the AOS it's best to use a batch
server. This should be a server equivalent to or almost equivalent to the
AOS and in the same area as the AOS and database servers with a high speed
connection to the database server (probably 1Gbps). This is simply a 3-tier
FAT client where the application is loaded via the AOS and executed on the
batch server. In addition the batch server is connected directly to the
database server and not via the AOS.

Hello All,

 I am wondering... how can one, in code, detect the current user? I
know that the function curExt() returns to you in a string what the current
company is. Is there a function that exists that will tell you the current user?

thanks in advance!

Hi Sherin,
as you dont have the field mandatory for all cases, the easiest way would be to

only problem: The field will not be shown as mandatory because in fact it is
not ;-)

AW: *SPAM* [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Error number sequences

2005-08-02 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi Danny,

try this:

Numberseq numberseq;
;
ttsbegin;

numberseq = numberseq::newgetnum(smmparameters::numrefrelationaccount
());
if(numberseq)
{
print numberseq.num();
numberseq.used();
ttscommit;

}

Hth  Tobias

System does not support setup 'continuous' of number sequene 'CRM_119'
Number selection is canceled.

The code is used during data import to assign values to relaccount .
In the data import definition x++ code on a field print numberseq.num
() should be input = numberseq.num()

I have been using this before without problems. So if someone could
help me out here please let me know.

Of course I could solve this by disabling the continuous flag, which
seem to work.

Regards,
Danny

the system does not crash

the classes should be in this layer (and will be once get time to do the

need the quickest and most reliable way for the customer to function at this

The customer has MorphX so

I'm working through the Axapta v 3.0 Financial Series I book (pub.
date 2004) and I'm up to Test Your Skills - Journal Name Setup (page

I follow the instructions exactly and try to create a new record and
I attempt to enter the voucher series 'GLGJ' and I get the following
message:

The value 'GLGJ' in field 'Voucher Series' is not found in relating
table 'Number Sequence'.

I think I need to create a new Voucher Series which has something to
with number sequences but I'm at a loss as to how to do this or how
all these things fit together in Axapta.

As you can probably tell I'm kinda new.

Can someone tell me what exactly the statement

public Object dialog()

DialogRunbase dialog = super();

dialogField = dialog.addField(typeId(Integer));
dialog.addTabPage(Tab label);
dialog.addField(typeid(itemid));

What is the benefit of using that approach?

All MBS training materials are distributed by Arvato in Germany (at least for
EMEA). You could also order them at our company (STZ) for the same price.
For any additional infi just drop me a mail.

My company is signing the contract to purchase Axapta and consulting as
we speak. I will be heavily involved with developing and implementation. I am
having major trouble finding training materials (can't get anything from the
VAR until the deals is inked).

Gloria has an outstanding question. Maybe this is common knowledge to
Axapta veterans, but to newbies, training materials are non-existent.

Any help obtaining training materials would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Aos exam

Hi all,

I am preparing for the Axapta server.

I found this question on the partner quide. i would appreciate if anyone tell
me what's the right choices.
An Axapta Server Cluster has been established behind a firewall, and each
Axapta Server runs one AOS instance. Below is a description of the IP addresses
and the TCP port numbers of each instance.
Axapta Server One: IP address = 192.168.10.1, TCP Port = 22035
Axapta Server Two: IP Address = 192.168.10.2, TCP Port = 22035
Cluster name is Finance.
The following rules exist on the firewall:
  - Allow all incoming TCP traffic on TCP port 22035, to IP address
192.168.10.1
  - Allow all incoming TCP traffic on TCP port 22035, to IP address
192.168.10.2
  - Allow all outgoing UDP traffic on Internet interface
  - Allow all outgoing TCP traffic in Internet interface

What rules need to be set up to gain access to the Axapta Server Cluster
Finance located behind the firewall? (Please select TWO responses)
A: Allow incoming TCP traffic on TCP Port 22035, from 127.0.0.1, to IP address
192.168.10.1
B: Allow all incoming UDP traffic on TCP Port 2712, to IP address 192.168.10.1
C: Allow incoming TCP traffic on TCP Port 22035, from 127.0.0.1, to IP address
192.168.10.2
D: Allow all incoming UDP traffic on UDP Port 2712, to TCP Port 22035
E: Allow all incoming TCP traffic on TCP port 22035, to IP address
192.168.10.255
F: Allow all incoming UDP traffic on TCP Port 2712, to IP address 192.168.10.2

Thanks.

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] SQL7 to SQL2000 upgrade

2005-06-30 Thread Andrae, Tobias
As I remember, the upgrade of SQL-Server 7 to SQL 2000 did not work so well.
So I would install SQL 2000 on the new machine, backup the old DB on SQL 7 and
restore it on the new one. Of course you must set the owner for the restored DB.

As I mentioend in an earlier post I am looking to upgrade SQL7 to
SQL2000 with Ax2.1

I am wondering what is the best approach to do this, considering also
the SQL2000 is going to be on a new machine.

Any suggestions on the following two appraoches:
A) To create an empty Axapta database on the SQL2000(new machine) and
use Axapta's data editing export and import to populate it (including system
tables)

OR

B) Upgrade the existing SQL7 database to SQL2000 (on old machine) and
then backup the database and restore it to the new SQL2000 machine (I am not
sure how much work or problems there potentially is in a SQL7 to SQL2000
upgrade, is it fairly manual or mostly automated via install/upgrade wizard?)

Hi James

Our first experience of Axapta was with version 2.1 running on
SQL 2000, so I know that works. I don't recall having to do anything special to
make it work (probably just as well as we were SQL Server Axapta newbies at
the time).

We have always run inside terminal services and don't get any
problems with that either. You will need to install Axapta through the
Add/Remove programs function in Windows (or execute the command Change user
/install before installing and then Change user /execute afterwards) or it
won't load correctly.

I would install 2.1 as described above from the installation CD
(including applying any services packs using the same approach) then replace
the Appl directory with your existing one.

Hope that helps.

Hi I hope some out there are able to help with a rather
old setup...

I have a customer who is running Ax2.1 and they are
very happy with it, therefore they do not want to have to go through all the
trouble of upgrading etc but they want to run on SQL2000 (due to IT audit
security concerns etc).

Does anyone know if it is possible to run Ax2.1 with
SQL2000? I know it will not work straight out of the box as I recall for Ax2.5
there was some configuration on SQL you had to do (something about Axapta and
SQL reserved words clashing so you had to turn off some features in SQL...or
something like that...)

Anyone have an actual site/experience with this
configuration?

Also they want to run on Windows 2003 via terminal
services, to move the application to such a machine what is the best approach?
1) install a standard ax2.1 and then delete the folders
and replace with the actual application?
OR
2) just copy the files to new server (I think this has
possible system files not registered problems right)

Is there any know issues with Windows 2003 termainl
services and axapta?

Hoping some one can help
Thanks

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Sales Order - Question

2005-06-30 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi Brandon,

there are some methods on the table object SalesTable which are fired each time
a record is created. Maybe you want to overwrite the insert() method and do
your export here after the super() call. To do so, you coulod use a
ODBCConnection (see help in System documentation).

Hello all,

Ok let me give you some information, that will hopefully help
explain what I am trying to do. You see we have a Web Site and Database
structure for that website in place. We are currently implementing Axapta, and
in order not to change to much at once, we are wanting to replicate data from
Axapta to our Web site database.

In order to do this, I am wanting to run a piece of code every time a
Sales Order is created that would replicate that Sales Order to our web site
database.

Does anyone have a clue as to the best way to do this? Is there a class
that is always called when a new Sales Order is created? I figure
SalesAutoCreate, but I am not so sure.

Anyway thanks in advance! And please let me know if you don't
understand that question and I can give more details!

thanks,
Brandon

Hi Igor,

you have to purchase one
SQL user license for each Axapta user no matter if 2-tier or 3-tier.

So the decision if you
want to buy a license per user or per processor is just a matter of
calculation.

Hi

ad question 2: the normal procedure by MBS is (as I know) that if a
new version of Axapta is released, that new version will be
certified (if possible) for the latest available versions of DB
servers.

So, as Axapta 3.0SP4 is released, MBS is probably now in the process
of certifying it against SQL2000 SP4 and Oracle 10 something...

That also means that older versions of Axapta will *never* be
certified for newer versions of DB servers. (at least that is
what MBS told me once).

Best regards
Helmut

AW: *SPAM* [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Trade logistics Materials

2005-06-15 Thread Andrae, Tobias
This one sounds different ;-))
First of all: It will be a great help to visit the Axapta courses matching your
exam.
Then, there is a list of topics on partnersource for all exams, including the
importance of each area of questions. Try to get this list; if you do not have
access to Partnersource maybe your Axapta partner or MS partner account can
help you with this.
Last not least: Maybe it is a good idea to get used to the menu structure and
buttons of Axapta - - there is a lot of questions asking for procedures (how to
do this, is something possible, and if, how, etc.)

Good luck, Tobias

Hi,

Do try and take the web application training if available in your
neighbourhood... 'cause back in the old days, building a videowebshop
was one of the things you learned. The simularity I see is that the
videos can be seen as rooms, they are bought ones and then used to be
rented. People could track online if something was available (on stock)
or could make reservations. All kinds of combinations are possible :-)
Perhaps there is still someone out there who has some demo video
webshop
for you to look at? You can also try and find the keyword 'service' in
your own Axapta documentation.

2005-05-27 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi Islamgalal,
you can find the topics of both exams at Partnersource (Training /
Certification). As told before, there are no sample questions or braindumps,
but if you prepare well the exam should be no problem.

The training material ios also available via Partnersource; there is a order
address for each region.
I would recommend to really read all the course material or (better) visit the
courses.
Also make sure to read and understand the Best Practices Handbook.

Good luck, Tobias

I think it may be a little too premature to assess SP4 in a
live environment, as it was released on May 19, and unless you have an Axapta
installation with pretty much no customizations and the will to charge at it
without planning, nobody will be up and running on SP4 yet.

Check back in 3-4 weeks, and maybe the early adopters will be
up  running.

Whena client makes a request to login to the AOS windows load
balancing determines which server as the least load and facilitates the

Hi Kenan,

you have two problems at
the moment:

a)
you are not allowed to post exam questions and MS will
retire your certificate if they find you ;- more, MS could be tempted to
let you pay for new, unposted questions which will be
rather expensive.

b)
The Axapta AOS exam is not available anymore and has been replaced
with Axapta Installation  Configuration.

The best thing you could
do to prepare for this exam is to read: the new Install Config manuals
(part I II) and the Best Practice Handbook and some of the whitepapers
provided on Partnersource.

Good luck for your exam,
Tobias

Hi Kenan,
yes, i took the exam (and some others also). Of course you are right - the
documents on the CD are definitely not enough. And some of the old questions
(Axapta Server) were wrong. But the course material (see below in my last post)
 is a good start to learn everything you need. By the way: Some of the
questions can only be answered if you have *practical experience*, so just
learning is not everything.

Good luck!

Hello there,

This might be a weird question for some
people, but I will ask anyway... :-)

I am doing some modifications to the
InventTable form. When the user enters a given value in a (new) field, Axapta
will look up some specific data from another table and put this
informationinto the corresponding form fields.

This is of course no big deal.

I handle this through a method on
InventTable. Now, my knowledge of Axapta is limited to putting data into a
simple form. As you know, the InventTable form has several data
sources, e.g. InventTableModule.

Howdo Iput a given
valueinto other form fields, that are not based on InventTable, e.g. the
form fields Purch.UnitId, Invent.UnitId or Sales.UnitId that are based on
InventTableModule ?

Normally I would do a:

this.thisfield = ThisValue_from_somewhere

which works fine, since this
is equal to InventTable, but my skills are somewhat limited.

I am sure there is a very simple solution
available, so please let me know...

(For your information: I have20
years of programming experience, but not that much in Axapta) :-)

Thanks in advance !

/Jens

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Moving data from table to form; question ...

2005-04-26 Thread Andrae, Tobias

Wait. Is your method placed  on the *table* InventTable or on the *datasource* InventTable on the form?

If it is on the form you can fill all the other
datasources as well, like

purch.UnitId = somefield

invent.UnitId = some other field

sales.inventlocationid = some third field.

However, Axapta shows these values not before
reopening the form or refreshing the data. This could be done with

Purch_ds.reread() etc.

Thanks, Tobias,

Hmm, you lost me there.

The method is based on table InventTable,
so my problem is that I would like the form fields in form InventTable to be
populated.

This works: this.itemType = somevalue,
also InventTable.itemType = somevalue.

However I need to do something like this
to form fields that during insert will be put in table InventTableModule,
something like:

purch.UnitId = somefield

invent.UnitId = some other field

sales.inventlocationid = some third field.

Axapta does not complain about the above 3
lines, but nothing is displayed in the fields...

Am I totally out on a limb - or just plain
ignorant ... :-)

It's not the first time an ERP product such as GP or Axapta or anything
in that category has been delayed. Your statement makes it obvious that you
are new to Axapta, possibly even new to ERP systems in general, and statements
like this are truly worthless opinions. Before you get upset, let me tell you
that we are many people that are tired of this happening again and again, but
we've grown to expect it, and although it may be a cynical view, we'll be
surprised if there is ever a release that comes out as promised.

With regards to the ERP strategy, it has never been Microsoft's
intention to keep several (competing) ERP product lines, and it's obvious that
Great Plains is at the end of its life cycle along with XAL, C5, C4, Solomon.
Also, I would not be surprised to see Navision go into maintenance mode soon.
And that's the way it is with great products. Even Henry Ford discontinued the
Ford T, because although popular, it was also getting old and outdated with
time, and never technologies provided for cheaper and better models.

Microsoft has pushed back the 4.0 release of its high-end ERP
offering to 2006 and is hinting it will soon move some its ERP wares
into 'maintenance mode.'

Microsoft's ERP strategy is morphing.

Axapta, one of Microsoft's four ERP products, has fallen victim to
Microsoft's slip-date curse. Meanwhile, it sounds as if Microsoft has
started to take measures to streamline its stable of four different
ERP lines.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Invoice Posting

2005-01-18 Thread Andrae, Tobias

Hi Tushar,

this can be done (more or
less) easy.

First you have to access
your Excel sheet use the COM object Excel.Application for that. Excel
provides a good help on programming using the document object model for Excel.

Within Axapta save your
data in a table and use the SalesAutoCreate framework to generate your
Salesorders. More details on MorphX integration.

This is possible using the Axapta Business Connector. You can use VBA
in excel to upload the data via the Business Connector. When you use the
Business Connector all the business logics in Axapta are available for posting
and validation.

If you take a look at the

I think, that ptmhki already tried once, failed and now tries to
find all the answers he (she?) didnt know the first time.

More, the getlast() and

Hello Andrae,

The question, to me, appears to be a question that anyone wanting
to know more about programming in Axapta would ask. As the documentation
if inadequate, it is though forums like this that we obtain the information /
insights we require. Not everyone has easy access to the training
courses, or materials.

Unless ptmhki had already undertaken the exam, he would not have
known it was on the exam, well at least until you told him so.

Barry.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Web form question

2005-01-16 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Lets play copy  paste ;-))

WebForm Basics

WebForms are created in the same way as normal Microsoft Axapta forms. However,
it should be noted that WebForms hold certain qualities that make them differ
from normal forms.

When you are working with a form in Microsoft Axapta using the Windows client,
the form executes on top of the database, which means that the data flow is
fast enough to allow a rich interaction with the system. This is not the case
with WebForms, where the clients (browsers) accesses Microsoft Axapta via the
HTTP protocol with many different distances and band-widths.

Part of the user's rich experience when using the Microsoft Axapta Windows
client comes from the fact that this client may interactively evaluate code as
the user browses the data. While the Web application certainly has access to
all the business logic that the Windows client has, it may only be accessed at
particular times. In short, what the user sees in the browser is a result of
HTML code generated from the WebApps framework, as the result of specific user
initiated actions. Consider the case where the user is filling out a field in a
form on the Windows client. As soon as the user leaves the field in question,
X++ code is run to determine the validity of the field content, and the user is
notified if the value is illegal. On the Web, however, the browser does not
evaluate X++ code, and validation is deferred to the time where the user
submits the form for entry. This is not a restriction caused by flaws in the
Microsoft Axapta WebApps Framework, but simply a consequence of the way the Web
works: The server generates the whole content of the page at once.

this one was taken from the Axapta Dev. Handbook - for more detais just read on
...

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Sort order on Customer Accounts

2004-12-30 Thread Andrae, Tobias
Hi,
the easiest way is to find a index field which meets your sorting needs. Then
you create an index for that field (or find an existing one) and just change
the index property on the datasource of your form to that index - voil,
that's it ;-))

Betreff: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Sort order on Customer Accounts

Hi All

Urgently need help with a problem sorting customer accounts. Our
client decided on a 'open' structure for their customer account
codes, meaning any number of alpha characters. What happens is that
Axapta stores these codes with spaces in front, eg.: _ _ _ABC in a 6
wide field. When sorting _ _ _ _ YZ and _ _ _ABC ascending, YZ is
above ABC - this follows ASCI sorting rules - no problem, except for
the guy working with the data set!

The InventTable does not pad with spaces in front like the CustTable.
I have changed the Extended Data Types for Justification and
Alignment, at the lowest level, to be similar between the CustTable
and the InventTable. Have re-indexed, rebooted, re-imported,
recreated and just about any other re- you can think of, but with no
joy.

How do I get the CustTable to behave like the InventTable!!

Please help

Lourens Botha

No that is not working.
You can check it when you print for example:
print custTable.name + num2str(custTable.RecId)

Now that is not what I am trying to do but it gives me the quickest
result to check whether it is possible.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: backgroundcolor

2004-10-07 Thread Andrae, Tobias

Hi Danny,

you need three decimals:
the first is fort he red part of your desired color from 0 (black) to 255 (very
red). The second is the same for green and the last for blue.

So (255,0,0) will be plain
red, (128,0,0) a dark red, (0,255,0) a bright green and, lets say, (0,200,200)
a nice green-blue color. You just have to play around with these values. As a
help, you could use e.g. PaintShop Pro which tells you the values for each
given color.

So, try something like
DialogField_Startdate.backgroundColor(RGB2Int(0,128,128)) -- of course only,
if your dialog field has this name ;-)

I have been hacking the dialogfield class but it

requires 3
decimals.

Tobias,

This is what I did.

static void TRA_Job_Dialog_2A(Args _args)
{

Dialog dlg;
 DialogField dlgFld;

 dlg =
new Dialog(Example TRA_Job_Dialog_2A);

 dlgFld =
dlg.addField(TypeId(CustAccount), Account
Number, Account Number Help);

 dlgFld.backgroundColor(13);

 window 80, 50 at 10, 10;

 dlg.run();

 pause;
}

I can only use a digital number here.

regards,
Danny

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Insufficient licence rights error starting Axapta for 2nd user onwards

2004-10-06 Thread Andrae, Tobias

Are there any read-only-flags
in your Application directory? Try to reset everything to readwrite,
including subdirectories. Important: Do this for zhe user that runs that Axapta
client ;-))

Insufficient licence rights error starting Axapta for 2nd user
onwards

I have a situation running Ax3 SP3
2-tier whereI cannot get more than 1 person logged into Axapta.

The technet discussion below is
exactly the same problem. The resolution was to shutdown ArcServe
backup software but we have stopped all services and still nothing.

Has anyone a suggestion?

Thanks

Steve

Axapta Technet 7316.4

Insufficient licence
rights. Can not start Axapta as more users are running the system than the purchased
rights allows.
My license code in Axapta is for 20 users and when more than 1 user tries to
connect the Axapta we get the message above.

We check the permission
(full access) on the Axapta folder and defined as shared.

We
can concurrently run Axapta on Axapta application server (Axapta install+ Sql
Server install same machine) and we can run one client machine, then no other
machine can connect, we receive the message that we can not login because there
are no available liceneses on any other machine .

If we log off client Machine 1 then we can start from client machine 2 but no
other machine then can login, or sometimes If we can run Axapta on server,
client machine 1, client machine 2 then no other client machine can connect.

Hi Steve,

Client read-only should
not be a problem here. Did you ever try to delete axdat.udb from the
Application directory? (you have to stop all clients and or AOS before this is
possible).

Hi
Tobias

Thank
you for your post.

We have
taken read-only off all of the application folders...but I am unsure about the
client folders.

Thanks

steve
