[SlimDevices: Beta] Plug In Updates Are Available problem

2014-10-16 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I'm on 7.9 latest (SoA) and I had a problem where I am being told 'Plug
In Updates are Available (YouTube)', but I can't update them. Looking at
the PlugIns tab under settings, I see YouTube (0.16) available to
enable, but if I do that and reboot, it still shows I need an update. I
guess something is corrupted, can you suggest how I delete the plugin
and reinstall?

Not sure if this has been asked before (or Michael has a definite plan).
Is the plan to do a 7.8 final which is the best version for everyone to
migrate to?

[SlimDevices: Beta] Post 7.7.0

2011-11-16 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

after 7.6 and the migration to SQLlite, then 7.7.0 and the push to get
a release for the Revue do we have another milestone that is driving
the next 7.7.x release? Just interested when we might see the next
version which will hopefully have more bug fixes and increase
stability/reliability (not that I have any issues at the moment)

 be
an improved MOG radio. Hopefully somewhen in December, well before

I will wait for the Dec release.

Hi there,

I thought I would have another try at 7.7 as it is close to release,
but I have scanning issues. Before upgrading I was running the latest
nightly of 7.62 and scanning was perfect. After loading 7.7rc6 I get
the following

Discovering files/directories: D:\shares\Music\Music (17246 of 17246)
Complete 00:00:54

Scanning new music files: D:\shares\Music\Music (1 of 14958)
Complete 00:00:02

Media scan terminated unexpectedly (Scanning Progress)

Looking in my log there is nothing, let me know what logging I need to
enable.

Yep, WHS 2003.

By the way, even with the photos directly accessed I still got my scan
unexpectedly quit after 10hours only 25000 in to my 35000 photos. I am
ready to give up now and move back to 7.6.1. Ithought I would give it a
final go just with music (stopping the photo scan in file types) but it
seems to have hung on the pre-caching artwork stage on the first file.

Hi Michael,

this is all on my Windows Home Server (HP EX-490). Its a 2.2GHz Celeron
with 2GB RAM. Who collection is around 120GB, I guess the average photo
is shot with a 6MP camera.

I wouldn't be so worried about the initial scan if I could actually get
it to finish. I have had multiple times when the scanner has quit
unexpectedly or it's just hung on a (very standard) photo.

2011-08-18 Thread Chunkywizard

Just upgraded to RC3. The initial scan look quite a long time (1h47m for
14,500 songs) and then CPU usage went to 100%. I left in 30 minutes or
so, but got fed up waiting. A restart of SBS seems to have fixed it.

Hi there,

yesterday (31077) and today's (31089) WHS 7.5.2 beta download are
broken. The download page

50.4MB but they only download to 39.9MB.

Can you fix this please?

[SlimDevices: Beta] upgraded to 7.5.0-r30195 and now scrobbling not working

2010-02-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I just migrated to 7.50 from 7.42 and scrobbling has stopped working.
To be specific, it has stopped working on my local library, scrobbling
works fine when connected to test.mysqueezebox.com. I created a new
account on the test MSB.com and set up the Last.fm app just as I did
before. I still have the Last.fm plugin in SBS and it is linked to my
Last.fm account. Is there some issue with the plugin on 7.5?

Any help appreciated,

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Radio: Alarm, sleep sync problems issues

2010-01-29 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi Ben,

can you explain why it's out of scope for 7.4.2? I thought (undoubtedly
incorrectly) that if you diagnosed the issue on 7.5 it could be back
ported to 7.4.2 quite easily. I know there is a rush on 7.4.2 and I
guess this might delay it but does the integration into 7.4.2 take very
long? I hope you don't think I'm criticising here, I'm not. I'm just
interested in the development decision process.

Cheers

[SlimDevices: Beta] Broken iTunes Playlist import in 7.2 Nightly?

...or is it user error? I am on the latest 7.4.2 (downloaded this
afternoon) and I am trying to get iTunes playlists imported (I have had
this disabled up to now). If I do a full rescan I see in the Information
screen iTunes Playlist Import (60 of 60) Complete 00:00:08 but
they are not showing in the Playlist screen in SBS. I have them prefixed
with 'iTunes: ' according to the settings if that makes any difference.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Duplicate tracks in SC in r28459

2009-09-10 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

i'm still seeing this, even on r28476. My scan looks like this:

Total Tracks: 15,288
Total Albums: 1,496
Total Artists: 615
Total Genres: 20
Total Playing Time: 1197:11:33

Music Scan Details
Directory Scan (14262 of 14262) Complete 00:30:09
MusicIP Import (14262 of 14262) Complete 00:00:46
Playlist Scan (84 of 84) Complete 00:03:57
iTunes Import (14264 of 14264) Complete 00:06:14
iTunes Playlist Import (62 of 62) Complete 00:04:52
Merge Various Artists (1471 of 1471) Complete 00:00:17
Artwork Scan (1495 of 1495) Complete 00:23:33

The server has finished scanning your music collection.
Total Time: 01:09:48 (Thursday, September 10, 2009 / 12:13 AM)

I have a discrepancy between the directory scan picking up 14262 tracks
and the actual total tracks (15288). The 1022 extra tracks are all
duplicates. Is there anyway to find out what is causing this? My gut
feeling would say MusicIP as it is all that has changed in my setup
recently? I'll try scanning and turning that off to see if it helps. Any
other ideas?

I disabled MusicIP and rescanned and now it is right so it was MusicIP.
The duplicate tracks were only one physical track, ie in SC I had 2
copies of Black Celebration by Depeche Mode. Every track was duplicated.
Checking my music directory I only have one copy of the files in
Z:\Depeche Mode\Black Celebration. The duplication seems random.
Sometimes it was just one track in an album, sometimes a whole album. If
you want any more info I can reenable MusicIP and replicate.

Let me know

It was set to this :-S I did have it on the other setting first of all
but the last scan was set to Only Read Mixable Status. I don't know if
it was a side effect of my tracks being validated, what do you think?

If you need me to check anything else just shout, I'll keep MIP off for

[SlimDevices: Beta] Duplicate tracks in SC in r28459

2009-09-09 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

just upgrade to 28459 (from 28259ish) and my overnight scan has found
1K more tracks. These appear to be duplicates. Some are only tracks and
some are whole albums. Scanning pre 28459 was perfect. I don't know if
this is a bug or to do with the MusicIP validate that is currently being
done on my library (and would have been on going when the scan
occurred). Any ideas? Any one else seen this?

[SlimDevices: Beta] Any way to change preset titles?

2009-09-06 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there

now presets and favourites are different is there anyway to change the
stream name of a preset? I ask because all of my presets are radio
stations. These current have titles like 'BBC Radio 1 (London, United
Kingdom). The length of them causes the name to scroll. I would like to
truncate the name to just 'BBC Radio 1'. Is this possible?

I found this out after I complained my favourites and hardware buttons
no longer seemed to be linked! As I understand it now presets can only
be set on the device not using SBS. There is no mechanism for

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Changes to ip3k menu in tonight's 7.4 (8/26)

2009-08-26 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

just upgraded to 28276 to try this out and it's not working
particularly well! I am just trying to get my menu back in order and
nothing I try allows me to change it. First of all I tried from SBS
Settings: Player: Menus. If I press the X icon on say Line In then it
disappears. However if I then press X on Extras, Line In comes back into
the menu! I thought maybe I needed to edit from mysqueezebox.com so I
went to Players: Menus and tried to delete the menu items from there. I
click on the red icon and nothing happens (apart from the browser
telling me error on page). I tried Chrome and IE8.

Is this meant to work?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Changes to ip3k menu in tonight's 7.4 (8/26)

2009-08-26 Thread Chunkywizard

My problem is just in the web interface, before I even look at my Boom.
On my previous version I press the X icon and the item disappears from
the list on the web interface. On the latest version it doesn't. I
downgraded to my previous version and it works again. Definite bug.
Didn't try FF but I would expect IE8 to work.

Yep I noticed that. A few builds back you could pick a button but now it
has gone. There is a cut and paste mechanism instead but I think it's
broken. I thought you were meant to have then in order and the first 6
would map to buttons 1-6. If you hit the X icon it cuts the favourite
and paste appears at the bottom of the list but I can not see how to
paste it anywhere than at the bottom.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Preset #1 Not Defined

2009-08-19 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I have an issue which has just cropped up on the latest build (28225).
One of my favourites has disappeared and really doesn't want to come
back! If I press button 1 on my Boom I get 'Preset #1 is Not Defined'.
Looking in SC I have 6 favourites. Playing the one associated with
button 1 from SC works just fine, but if I press and hold button 1 on
the Boom whilst it is playing (to reassociate the button) nothing
happens. Butons 2-6 work fine. I have tried to delete the problem
favourite and reload it but nothing works. Is this a bug or user error?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] What was the last working 7.4b?

2009-06-24 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I too had come across the problem with the zip files. The workaround
(unzipping them) worked for 3 of my plugins, but when I tried 3 more it
no longer worked. Even removing the 3 new plugins manually still caused
the server not to start. I ran the server with debug as suggested. The
output is attached.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Upgrade problems to V27181 -Squeezesvc failed to start

2009-06-21 Thread Chunkywizard

Ok I've fixed it. It was similar to a report I did a while back and
forgot about
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=417848postcount=22) I
think the reboot is key here. Anyway, I'm up and running on v27181 now
as I was a day or so ago. Just rescanning and going to add back in my
plugins.

Are all plugins compatible with this version of SC? It was at this
stage that things started failing last time.

2009-06-21 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I have tracked down what is stopping the server from starting. It's the
contents of C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Squeezebox\Cache\DownloadedPlugins

If I clear this folder then the server starts, if it has a plug in, it
doesn't.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Upgrade problems to V27181 -Squeezesvc failed to start

2009-06-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I have just tried to upgrade SqueezeCenter on my WHS and am having
problems. I was stable on v26406 with ActivePerl 5.8.9 Build 825 and I
tried to upgrade to v27181 and ActivePerl 5.10. The upgrade appeared to
go smoothly but I added back in my PlugIns and when SC restarted it
would try to start and then stop. I rebooted my WHS and I got a message
about SC being blocked (by something like DEP). I added SC to this and
the message went away. I then tried to uninstall (via the console) and
reinstall but I got the message:

Service 'squeezesvc' (squeezesvc) failed to start. Verify that you have
sufficient privileges to start system services. The selected add-in
failed to install. The error code was 1603. Please contact the add-in
author for assistance

I then read the threads and saw it was advised to uninstall SC from
Add/Remove Programs. I did this but still see the above message.

I'm stumped. I am just going to try to go back to AP 5.89 and V26222
(The closest version I have to my original setup). But any hints on how
I can upgrade to 27xxx would be appreciated.

Cheers

We only do regular releases every few weeks or rather months. One day

In your (beta tester's) case, this might be a bit different. Look for

 checkVersionInterval: 3600
 checkVersionLastTime: 1240923414.00915

The interval is the aforementioned interval, lastTime the time stamp.
 I've
set mine to hourly checks, as I have to test (sometimes even set it to

something like 300). You can also wipe the timestamp while SC is shut

Hi there,

I'm using 26222 at the moment and I haven't had any update
notifications or auto downloads at all. I checked my prefs and they
say:

checkVersion: 1
checkVersionInterval: 86400
checkVersionLastTime: 1240908217.05567

Any ideas why I haven't seen 229? I checked my settings and it's set to
download automatically. BTW, it used to work on old builds

By the way, I did get one issue (which I have seen before), see below.

Hi there,

the problem is back :-S I had 7.4-26132 (I think that was the build)
installed and stable but I noticed that there was no details of scans
in SC and so I thought it might be a bug and decided to upgrade to the
latest build (last nights). I deinstalled '132 and then tried to
install the new build. I got the same error message as before about not
having the correct priviledges to install.

I also noticed when I rebooted my WHS I get a scanner.exe error, this
is also below.

Any ideas? I have tried the trick I used last time to get up and
running but I can't install it at all at the moment.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Installation problems with 7.4-26071 (maybe linked with SoftSqueeze beta)

2009-04-24 Thread Chunkywizard

Still poking around, I noticed a couple more things that might be of
interest. I am trying to install 26189 but after the failed install if
I go to the SC Control Panel on the WHS (as before it seems it
partially installed) then under settings it tells me there is a new
version of SC available. This ties up with the error message above
saying that the error is on 26132. It almost seems as though the
install is from the last version I had installed not 26189. Also I was
wondering how do I get a scanner.exe error after reboot when I
uninstalled SC from the WHS before reboot? Its almost as if I have 2
installs. WHS doesn't find scanner.exe when I search but I have heard
it doesn't pick up system files so this might not be totally true.
Anyway I can search for scanner.exe?

[SlimDevices: Beta] Installation problems with 7.4-26071 (maybe linked with SoftSqueeze beta)

2009-04-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

yesterday I was on 7.4-26071 and was playing about with SoftSqueeze. SC
was working fine and then I installed SoftSqueeze 3.9b1 through the
extension repository. This prompted me to reboot and then I found that
SC wasn't started. Whenever I tried to start it it would tell me it's
starting and then just stop again. My next course of action was to
uninstall it and reinstall, but it won't install. This morning I got
the new build downloaded and I tried that, but that will not install
either. See a screen shot of the install process at:
www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/SqueezeBox/WHS.jpg

So, a couple of questions. How can I deinstall SoftSqueeze (without
being able to start SC) and how can I fond out if it is indeed that
causing the issue. I don't think I have any log files as the install
process doesn't finish.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Installation problems with 7.4-26071 (maybe linked with SoftSqueeze beta)

2009-04-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Just tried with latest build of 7.3.3 and it gives me the same error
(although the partial obscured DOS box in the background had some
different text in this time).

I guess I could try backing up and deleting my SqueezeCenter directory
to start a clean install but I don't want to lose all my settings, plug
ins etc. If I did this can I just add back these later or will that
cause issues?

2009-04-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I'm using Administrator (which is part of the Admin group ;D)

Although I am RDCed into WHS I am installing via the Windows Home
Server Console. Is there a better way to install (this is the only way
I know how). Because of this the windows always stay within the console
and it's hard to get the DOS box unobscured. I will try again but
perhaps you can advise me of an easier way to install the add-in.

2009-04-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

well I have managed to sort it. I un-installed everything (from
Add/Remove Programs), deleted my SqueezeCenter directory and try it
again. It worked this time :-S One slight difference was instead of
RDCing into the WHS I installed from my desktop using the WHS Console.

So I backed up my SqueezeCenter directory, can I just copy this back to
get back my plug ins, or do I have to install them all from scratch?

[SlimDevices: Beta] Unable to Process JPEG image on 7.4-26103

2009-04-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I am having my Music scan terminated unexpectedly during the Artwork
Scan. This is happening on 7.4-26103 but I saw it on the last couple of
nightlies I ran as well. I did a search of the forum and found this
problem twice before. One related it to Virus Scanning (I don't run a
virus scanner on my WHS) and the other suggested that you should clear
the cache, which I have done to no avail. I don't think this is related
to my early problems starting SC (which are now solved) as I saw this
before those occured. The log is at
www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/Squeezebox/scanner.log. I scanned three
times and each time it has terminated early, on a different cover each
time. The scan used to work on earlier builds of 7.4 (i'm afraid I
can't remember exact version numbers)

Any Ideas?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Installation problems with 7.4-26071 (maybe linked with SoftSqueeze beta)

2009-04-20 Thread Chunkywizard

OK, my problems are back. I was again playing with SoftSqueeze trying to
get it to synchronise with my 2 Booms and I found one of them would
power up, try to get an IP address and then reboot. To try and fix it I
rebooted my WHS and I found that SC wouldn't start again. I uninstalled
and reinstalled using the Console and got the same error about lack of
privileges. Screenshot at:

www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/Squeezebox/WHS2.jpg

Hopefully on this you can see the error in the DOS box.

Obviously I can try and fix it the same way as before but that's a bit
long winded. Anything else I can try?

No Anti-virus at all on WHS. As for free space I have 500GB free out of

out of 20GB.

Just tried reinstalling without deleting the preferences and I get the
same error. I'll try with no preferences in a mo unless you want any

I don't think so. I have never used that command but I RDCed into the
WHS brought up a command window and typed 'netstat'. None of the

By the way, I tried to delete all preferences and reinstall and that
didnt even work. Is there a way to get to old nightlies so I can see if
its just a problem with the latest version?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] IMPORTANT - Automatic download of SC updates(7.4)

2009-04-16 Thread Chunkywizard

From my point of view I would like the update to occur around the same
time as my daily scan (1am), ie when I know I will do be playing any
music.

Anyway, not too important for me as I use the WHS version and so it
sounds like the upgrade mechanism will be different for me. Let me know
when that's in place and I can test.

Cheers

[SlimDevices: Beta] Whs pp2

2009-03-27 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi there,

I've just upgraded my WHS to PowerPack2 and SqueezeCenter doesn't seem
to be loading. I am not certain yet the 2 things are related but I just
wanted to check if anyone has PP2 loaded and SqueenzeCenter running. I
am using a fairly up to date version of 7.4 (my sig is correct).

If I look in the WHS console it tells me that the SqueezeCenter service
is stopped and if I click on the Start SqueezeCenter button it tells me
it is starting and then less than a second later I get told the service
is stopped again. I have tried rebooting the server and it didn't help.
I can upgrade to the latest nightly if you think it would help but it
was only released hours after PP2 so I doubt it will help.

Obviously my issue might not be related to this at all so any other
ideas greatly appreciated.
