There are only a limited number of people who care about what is going on in the cultural change. It's not what you think it is -Caveat Lector- http://www.proliberty.com/observer/20030602.htmFrom the June 2003 Idaho Observer: Money? It's not what you think it is. There is nothing so revered, yet so misunderstood as the subject of money. Most adults spend half their waking hours laboring to acquire it. Many people measure a person's standing in society by how much ”money” they have. And nearly everything in our modern world is measured by its monetary value. But how many people have a clue what money is? Where it comes from? What gives it value? The history of money? And what value would our modern money have if everyone knew what it really was? Pull out a dollar bill, look at it, and ask yourself, How did this get here? What gives it value? Do you know what makes money, “money”? by Hari Heath In the Beginning Before money, there was barter. One thing traded for another thing. This only works if both traders want the other's thing. Otherwise, no trade. By having a commonly accepted third medium of exchange, expanded commerce became possible. Coins, drilled shells, beads and animal skins were among the early forms of money. In the early forms of money, value came from the rarity of the material or the labor to produce it. So how did that paper “dollar” in your hand become money? An excellent answer is found in G. Edward Griffin's 600+ page book, “The Creature from Jekyll Island.” This highly illuminating and educational study on money covers the history of money, banking, wars and the political shenanigans behind the money powers. But we don't have 600 pages here to answer every detail of that question. The short history is that coins made of precious metals became the favored medium of exchange since at least the Roman times. The word money comes from the word “Moneta,” an epithet for the Roman goddess Juno. A temple to this goddess, who was considered the guardian of the Roman treasury, was converted into a mint, according to James Ewart in his book, Money -- Ye shall have honest weights and measures. The Romans began to call this temple “The Moneta” and later used the name for other places where coins were made. Moneta evolved over the years to an abbreviated “mone” or “monet.” The older English spelling of “monie” eventually became “money.” From Roman times through Medieval Europe there was a proliferation of coinage and various ways to debauch the coins by lightening their weight, plating or alloying with less valuable metals. But the ultimate debauchery came from the Goldsmiths in the 1200s who discovered the dirty scheme of fractional reserve holdings. The Goldsmiths issued paper receipts for gold they held in storage for their customers. The receipts came to be used “as” money since they could be returned to the Goldsmith for the gold held in storage. The Goldsmiths discovered that, since not everyone wanted their gold at once, they could issue more receipts than they had gold and create wealth for themselves “out of thin air,” or more accurately, paper and ink. This little experiment has been tried over and over again ever since. It forms the basis for the banking industry and has repeatedly led to the same inescapable result -- financial collapse caused by unfettered greed. What is Money? Money in the pure sense of the word, can only mean coins, not paper currency. Congress was only given the power in the Constitution to “coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin.” The Constitution does not authorize Congress to issue currency or create a central bank. Constitutionally, only coins can be money. Ewart makes another clear distinction. Money is not something to be used “as” a medium of exchange, money “is” a medium of exchange. Money doesn't represent value, like a note, it “is” something with intrinsic value like a coin. But all of these otherwise correct definitions do not correlate with our modern misguided notions of “money.” Do you have coins in your bank account? When you write a check to someone can th

[CTRL] Eric Margolis - Is Tony Blair crazy, or just plain stupid?
-Caveat Lector- Is Tony Blair crazy, or just plain stupid? By ERIC MARGOLIS -- Contributing Foreign Editor Tony Blair, Britain's prime minister, proposed a "compromise" last week to the deadlocked UN Security Council: President Saddam Hussein of Iraq should go on TV and admit he had weapons of mass destruction and had committed other transgressions. Blair's offer, reeking of mock sincerity, was clearly crafted to dampen down a storm of Labour party criticism over his sycophantic support of President George Bush's impending crusade against the Saracens of Iraq. But it was an offer Iraq was certain to reject, thus ending diplomacy and opening the way to war. Small wonder the French call Britain "perfidious Albion." Blair's demarche was high hypocrisy, even by Downing Street's usual standard. Why doesn't the insufferably sanctimonious Blair go on TV and explain why Britain still retains nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons in sizable quantities? Are they to stop a cross-channel invasion by France or the Vikings? Perhaps Blair could discuss Winston Churchill's plan to use poison gas against any German landing in World War II. More to the point, Blair should explain why Britain and the U.S. supplied Iraq with germ warfare agents and many of its chemical arms during the 1980s (confirmed in U.S. Senate hearings). Or why British government technicians, discovered by this writer in Baghdad in 1990, were producing anthrax and Q-fever germ weapons for Iraq? Instead of harping on Iraq's brutality, Blair might discuss Britain's savaging of Ireland, brutal colonial conquest of almost half the known world, the addiction of millions of Chinese to British-grown opium, and crimes in India, Africa and Burma. And admit that some of today's worst political problems - Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir, India vs. Pakistan - are due to British imperialism. Blair may well owe a political debt to the financiers and press barons who launched his meteoric political career and badly want this war. But plunging Britons into an unjust, unnecessary war to please these neo-imperialists is intolerable. The only other explanation - that Blair is doing all this out of conviction - is even more frightening. Bad enough born-again George Bush apparently believes he is commanded by God to go to war. That his chief advisers on the Mideast seem to want to recreate biblical Israel. That many of Bush's core fundamentalist supporters believe this war will hasten the conversion of Jews to Christianity and bring the world's end through Armageddon. Blair is too intelligent to swallow such claptrap. Every Iraqi "weapons of mass destruction site" claimed by British and U.S. intelligence has thus far turned out, when inspected by the UN, to be clean. If Blair still believes these clearly debunked claims, he needs help. The CIA and MI-6 still claim they know Iraq is still hiding stores of nerve gas. So then, why not give the locations to UN inspectors? Iraq's feeble, 150-km range al-Samoud missiles might have exceeded their permitted range by an inconsequential 10-15 km. Big deal. They are being destroyed. Worry instead about North Korea's new Taepodong-II missile, which the CIA says can deliver a nuclear warhead to the United States. Unbelievably, Iraq-obsessed Bush dismisses menacing North Korea as only a "regional problem." Saddam's notorious "Winnebagos of death" - germ-making trucks - turned out, on inspection, to be mobile food testing labs. Last week's U.S. and British-promoted canard, Iraq's "drones of death," were three rickety model airplanes unworthy of World War I, rather than dispensers of germs, as the Pentagon claimed. Only one had managed to fly - all of two miles. Iraq's only true potential weapon of mass destruction, VX nerve gas, remains an open question. But Iraq lacks any offensive capability to deliver VX. Its sole use is as a defensive battlefield weapon, CIA Director George Tenet noted. Iraq's most important defector, Gen Hussein Kamel, who headed its biowarfare projects, stated he personally supervised destruction of all of Iraq's nerve gas in 1991, a fact not mentioned by the White House. Other experts say any germ or gas weapons held by Iraq have by now deteriorated through age into inertness. As for Bush's charge Saddam might give such weapons to anti-American groups, why didn't he do so from 1990 to 2003, when the U.S. was daily bombing Iraq and trying to overthrow his regime? Because he's not suicidal. Unable to locate Iraq's U.S./British-supplied weapons, unable to link Iraq to Osama bin Laden, Bush and Blair shifted gears. They now claim Iraq's suffering people must be "liberated." But why weren't they liberated when Saddam committed his worst rights violations during the 1980s, when Iraq was a U.S./British ally? And what about the startling revelation by the former CIA Iraq desk chief that the gassing death of 5,000 Kurds at Halabja; an event endlessly reiterated by Bush - may have been accidentally caused by Iran, not I

Out of it's 128 pages that comprised 162 pictures (front back covers not incl.), there was only ONE picture of the Pentagon, and only ONE picture of the Pa. Crash scene. Now get this. the pentagon pic was POST rebuilding, and the Pa. pic was take LONG after all the grass in the field had grown back and the (missing) wreckage removed. Now I wonder why they didn't include crash photo's of those two sites? It must be because I couldn't see a single airplane part anywhere. But on the other hand there were 27 pictures of wtc in ruins, which we know planes indeed hit. So they try to re-tramatize me with all these pictures lest I forget,... then omit 2/3rds of the crash scenes.interesting. There were 57 flags in pictures... So the priority is 1) Be Patriotic ...so you will be 2) retramatized by the wreckage of wtc and 3)learn toput in the back of your mind 2/3rds of the crash scenes that planes wreckage wasn't found in. Winds could be six to seven hundred miles per hour at times so some sunglasses might have a double benefit at a point here and there during the week. Flying debris such as large buildings, vehicles and vaporized people could be an obstacle. Shortly after these high winds and extreme high temperatures, the sky WILL become cloudya rare phenomenon where there will be a single cloud taking on the shape of a favorite pizza topping! Speaking of which, even FROZEN pizza will cook in a literal "flash" with no oven required during this unique weather pattern so be sure to take advantage! You can watch it cook right before your boiling eyes! Be sure to wear some extra thick sandals as all the sand in the area will be at least partially on the way to becoming glass and this might stick to your feet and once again, there is a danger of severe burns, so be careful!!! For those that want to get a jump on things, we recommend marinating your camel with barbeque sauce or a nice bitter chutney sometime Wednesday morning and it should make for a scrumptious dinner before EITHER sundown on Wednesday evening This has been your Optomistic Weatherman report for the greater Baghdad area for the week of March 17, 2003. [CTRL] JOKE Bush visits a school.
-Caveat Lector- President Bush was visiting an elementary school one dayand before he left he declared he would have a brief question and answer period with the children in the classroom. Billy, a determined looking young boy piped up and said "Mr President,I have three questions for you: 1. What is the necessity of going to war with Iraq? 2. Why didn't your dad do it right the first time? 3 What are you going to do with the oil in Iraq? Just then the recess bell rang and all the children went out to play. Twenty minutes later when the children had returned and the classroom settleddown again Tommy addressed the president and said: "Mr President,I have five questions for you: 1. What is the necessity of going to war with Iraq? 2. Why didn't your dad do it right the first time? 3 What are you going to do with the oil in Iraq? 4. The police are told not to "break ranks" (ie: suffer the abuse) until they are in a very heated, frustrated fenzy. When they are "cut loose", they go rampant billy-clubbing, macing, pepper spraying, tazing anything they can. There's some really good footage from the Seattle WTO riot that is cleary indicative this. As we all know, the story ends by the constitution being effectively suspended in Seattle. The film also documents the ever increasing militarization of the police, and integration with the armed forces, contrary to posse comitatus. Re: [CTRL] CFR: Iraq Reconstruction Could Cost $20 Billion/Year...
-Caveat Lector- More likely they say that to put it in the budget and then look good for having a surplus. They haven't rebuilt anything in Afghanistan except for a pipeline that wasn't built to begin with. Any rebuilding done in Iraq with be entirely in the energy sector. I simply do not believe that the money will be spent on anything of real benefit to the only true victims in this: civilian Iraqis. - Original Message - From: William Shannon To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2003 6:10 PM Subject: [CTRL] CFR: Iraq Reconstruction Could Cost $20 Billion/Year... -Caveat Lector- http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/03/12/sprj.irq.costs/index.htmlReport: Reconstruction in Iraq could cost up to $20 billion a yearThink tank says American support critical to missionFrom David EnsorCNN Washington BureauWednesday, March 12, 2003 Posted: 2:43 PM EST (1943 GMT)WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Stabilization and reconstruction efforts in Iraq could cost up to $20 billion a year for several years, according to a report released Wednesday by a think tank. The report from the Council on Foreign Relations urged President Bush to "make clear" the U.S. intention to "stay the course" in any post-war operation and win the support of the American public for such an endeavor. The council -- comprised of experts from the government, the military and academia -- based its estimate on an assumed deployment of around 75,000 troops throughout a post-war period. "Winning the peace is task number two," said retired Gen. Gordon Sullivan, a member of the task force that drafted the report, "Iraq: the Day After." Sullivan described a military victory in Iraq as the first goal. The report says the president "should announce a multibillion dollar, multiyear post-conflict reconstruction program and seek formal congressional endorsement." That program should commit at least $3 billion a year to the reconstruction of Iraq, the report says, in addition to the estimated $17 billion-a-year cost of 75,000 troops. The report called on Bush to stress two messages: Explain the United States' vital interest in Iraq's future to the American people, so they will be willing to bear the cost of reconstruction; and to make the public commitment, so Iraqis understand the United States will not walk out before job is done. Task force co-chairmen Thomas Pickering -- who served in the Clinton administration-- and James Schlesinger -- who served in the Nixon and Ford administrations -- said at a news conference that Americans should not assume Iraq's oil wealth will be available in the early years to help pay for Iraq's reconstruction. "In the early years, oil revenues will be insufficient," Schlesinger said, noting that Iraq's oil infrastructure is in dire need of refurbishing and that the country's oil revenues are committed to supplying food and essentials. The report also says that if the United States has to keep more than 75,000 troops in Iraq, which it calls "a genuine possibility," then the funding requirement "would be much greater" than $20 billion a year. The Bush administration has refused to publicly say how much it thinks a war or reconstruction effort would cost in Iraq. Some administration sources say the White House is likely to ask Congress for between $60 and $95 billion to pay for a war and reconstruction. Various administration figures have said there are too many variables to make such an estimate worthwhile. The lack of any number has frustrated many lawmakers, particularly Democrats, who say the U.S. public has a right to know what a war and cleanup operation in Iraq would cost. www.ctrl.org DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list. Re: [CTRL] An Open Letter to PropagandaNetDaily
-Caveat Lector- PropagandaNetDaily don't you mean? I'm not quite sure of the defining moment when I ceased to be a sheep and became an independent thinker, but as the veil was lifted over my eyes I began to get my news from "alternative" sources such as the WND you mention. Being of a primarily conservative mind, I found it quite easy to demonize liberals and read heaps upon heaps of self deluding left/right TRASH! (it all seemed legit at the time) Then as time progressed I found a wealth of information on other websites that contradicted my "holy grail of all conservativeness.. aka WorldNetDaily" I then learned a false left/right paradigm is in place to conquer and divide us. I soon realized that WND isn't nearly the Free Press for a Free People it claims to be. It's like reading salon.com then "flipping channels" to another infomercial. Two groups selling the same sh|t with a different brand name. Joseph Farah is a SHILL and nothing more. I once respected this man but I can no longer make than claim. Any praise I ever made of him turned to self disgust for opening my mouth ages ago. Nothing would please me more than to read some coked-up psycho gave him an "immediate dispatch". That also goes for a lot of politicians too. (99%) Gee... could wishing he got his "up & comings" get me kicked off this list? [CTRL] Why France is America's True Friend
-Caveat Lector- Seems to be the case in my mind http://www.canoe.ca/Columnists/margolis_mar9.html Why France is America's true friend By ERIC MARGOLIS -- Contributing Foreign Editor MIAMI -- Watching American TV can be a surreal experience. Sandwiched between ads for instant weight loss products, predigested fast food, and incontinence panties, cable TV commentators bay like rabid dogs for war against Iraq, and subject nations daring to oppose President Bush's crusade to venomous abuse or sneering disdain. France, which speaks with the strongest, most logical voice of those opposing war, has become the special target of vituperation and hatred in America's leading neo-conservative media - Fox TV, the Wall Street Journal, New York Post - and the Bush administration's bete noire. Particularly so, now that France, Germany, and Russia vow to veto U.S. attempts to ram a war-enabling resolution through the UN Security Council. France, many Americans claim, should do whatever Washington orders out of gratitude for the U.S. "saving" it in two world wars. U.S. television features angry veterans standing in American military cemeteries in Normandy, denouncing France for "stabbing America in the back" - as if invading Iraq to grab its oil and crushing Israel's enemies had anything to do with World War II. Few flag-waving pundits mention America sat out almost 40% of WWII until attacked by Japan. In 1940, the German armed forces were the equivalent of the U.S. armed forces today - a full military generation ahead of other nations. France's entire army was destroyed in battle by the invincible Germans; had the U.S. fought Germany in 1940, it too would have been routed. The Soviet Union, not the U.S., defeated Germany, destroying over 100 Nazi divisions. So enough with all the bombast about Word War II. In the eyes of Europeans and most of the world, George Bush's administration looks dangerously aggressive, dominated as it is by petrohawks and neo-conservative ideologues linked to Israel's far right. These little Mussolinis have no time for diplomacy or multi-nationalism. No wonder a recent Pew Research poll found that formerly favourable ratings of the U.S. have plummeted in 19 of 27 nations surveyed. It seems at times that President Bush is even more eager to bomb Paris than Baghdad. In fact, the administration has been treating France like an enemy, rather than America's oldest ally and intimate friend. Neo-conservatives even accuse France of anti-Semitism, a disgusting slander. Doing the right thing Far from being an enemy, France has been doing what a true good friend should do: telling Washington its policy is wrong and dangerous, unlike the handkissing leaders of Britain, Spain and Italy, who crave Bush's political support, or the East European coalition of the shilling, ex-communist politicians pandering to Washington for cash. Seventy percent of British, and 90% of Italians and Spaniards oppose Bush's crusade. France's President Jacques Chirac speaks for an overwhelming majority of Europeans and, indeed, the world's people, in urging the U.S. to opt for diplomacy and UN inspections over a war that will not be worth the loss of a single American soldier, not to mention tens of thousands of Iraqis and chaos across Mesopotamia. So, too, warns the great and wise Pope John Paul II. The contrast between France's reasoned diplomatic response and Bush's belligerent behaviour could not be more stark. As is the dignified, logical tone set by President Chirac and Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin compared to the bullying, low-brow, locker-room talk issuing from the White House that has seriously damaged America's reputation and image around the globe. Last week Turkey's new parliament, chosen in the first truly democratic election in memory, followed Europe, courageously rejecting Washington's bribes and demands that U.S. ground forces be allowed to attack Iraq from Turkish territory. Washington's churlish response - withdrawing its bribes, threatening punishment - contrasted curiously to Bush's claims his goal in Iraq is bringing democracy to the Mideast. Democracy, its seems, is fine so long as it does U.S. bidding. Inconveniently, Turkey's people and democratic government voted a resounding no to war. How long the Turks can resist intense pressure from the U.S. and its friends, Turkey's hard right generals, remains to be seen. Bush's crusade against Iraq will go on with or without Turkey. The war will be akin to throwing a grenade into a huge hornet's nest. France, which lives next to the Arab world and has 5 million Muslim citizens, warns an invasion and occupation of Iraq will roil the entire region, spark more terrorism, and hit Europe with a dangerous backblast. But Bush couldn't care less, as he would say. While Bush prepares war against demolished Iraq, he is ducking the surging nuclear confrontation with North Korea, which, unlike Iraq, truly threatens North America. Outrageous dereliction

United States Supreme Court, Ex Parte Milligan, 1866, declaring Abraham Lincoln's suspension of habeas corpus and other abuses of the Bill of Rights unconstitutional We may never know the name of the patriot who leaked John Ashcroft's draft of a sequel to the USA Patriot Act to Charles Lewis, head of the Center for Public Integrity. Lewis put the 86 pages on his web site (www.publicintegrity.org) on February 7, and that night Bill Moyers interviewed Lewis on his PBS television program, Now. This broke the story of the most radical government plan in our history to remove from Americans their liberties under the Bill of Rights. As The Washington Post warned in a February 12 editorial, this proposed lawprepared in secret for months while the Justice Department told Congress it had no such legislation in mindgives the Bush administration "more power unilaterally to exempt people from the protections of the justice system and place them in a kind of alternative legal world." For more on the liberties that may be lostthrough secret arrests, stripping Americans of citizenship, dragnet collection of DNAsee last week's column, "Ashcroft Out of Control." On Bill Moyers's program, Charles Lewis said it took "the most incredible kind of courage" for a member of the Justice Department to have leaked this draft. "There's gonna be a witch-hunt," Lewis predicted. "[If found, the leaker] could very likely not only lose their job, but . . . be ruined professionally. [And I] have an incredible respect for anyone who does that." Called the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003, the legislation was most likely intended to be sprung on Congress and the rest of us once the war on Iraq began. As Charles Levendosky, editorial page editor of the Casper, Wyoming, Star-Tribunea ceaselessly vigilant watcher of the Justice Departmentsaid in his syndicated column: "The DSEA isn't a working paper. It's a complete proposal for legislation. One cannot escape the ramifications. The thoroughness of DSEA is meant to discourage congressional changes, deletions or amendments. . . . It attacks the fundamental framework of our democracy by removing the checks and balances that hold it together and make it work." In addition to the judiciary and Congress, the other check the Framers relied on to stop uncontrolled government power was what used to be called the Fourth Estate. That's why the First Amendment guarantees "Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the . . . freedom . . . of the press." But most of the media treated this unprecedented revision of the Constitution as a one- or two-day story, and there was scant mention of it on television. Interestingly, the largest response soon after Bill Moyers's program was from 3581 radio stations. And Moyers's Web site got more than 200,000 hits after the February 7 interview with Charles Lewis. But as happened with The Washington Post's front-page story on the torture of prisoners in CIA interrogation at our military bases overseasand the Los Angeles Times' detailed report on the CIA's targeted killingsthere has been hardly any follow-up in newspapers or on broadcast and cable television. Aldous Huxley once wrote of our "almost infinite appetite for distraction," and that attention deficit has increasingly characterized the effect on the press of the 24-hour news-cycle race. I wonder what the job qualifications are these days for assignment editors. If any member of the press is interested, the American Civil Liberties Union has prepared a 19-page, single-spaced, section-by-section analysis of the myriad constitutional violations in the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003. The ACLU released a similar, invaluable dissection of the first USA Patriot Act, but very little of that appeared in the media. And to this day, not many Americans know what's in that omnivorous lawlet alone how it's being implemented. The new ACLU analysis of USA Patriot Act II was written by legislative counsel Timothy Edgar. In his initial summary, Edgar notes that this bill, if signed into law by the eager president, would, among other consequences, "threaten public health by severely restricting access to crucial information about environmental health risks posed by

[CTRL] GM OnStar
-Caveat Lector- I was just listening to the local talk (fraud) radio a few minutes ago when I heard a commerical that used a recorded conversation between a GM car owner who'd locked himself out of the car in the middle of nowhere, and an OnStar rep. The OnStar rep does whatever on the computer and opens the door for the car owner who is very greatful. Now while this certainly puts a positive spin on having a GPS tracking device in your car, it also make me wonder if they also have the ability to shut a car's engine off with no "manual override". The positive spin being it deters car theft and high speed chases should police call Onstar. What I'm really wondering is If there's a suitcase nuke or bioterror somewhere in N.A. and for our safety the feds want to lock down cities, could OnStar be used to shut down whole columns of fleeing traffic trapping millions on freeways for convenient round up? June lets face it NOBODY is arguing that pedophilia is either: a) predetermined by an individuals sexual orientation. or b) precluded by an individuals sexual orientation. You know it, I know it, the whole list knows it. Whether or not the culprit was caught by a male or female is in this case irrelevent and moot. If the BSA was to allow homosexual men to be scout leaders, whom would the pedophile segment of that group prey on? Boys obviously. And if the BSA also had some HETEROsexual leaders who were ALSO pedophiles whom would they prey on? NOBODY because there's no young girls in the boy scouts. So IOW that would leave the pedophile percentage of the homosexual population with their choice of sexual conquest at their disposal. Whereas the hetero-pedophiles would still have NOBODY to molest. Basically you've said time and time again June that you'd like to see the ONLY group with any reasonable feasibility of molesting boy scouts allowed to participate. Can you explain that? I think we all agree here June that pedophiles come in both flavors my question is: Which one will be molesting the boys? If a person can be "turn(ed)" into a homosexual as you assert, being so knowledgeable on the subject, why would we as a society want our kids put into a position by homosexual Scout Masters where they could be "turn(ed)" towards other sexual orientations contrary to the position put forth by the homosexual activists that people are "born that way"? Be it gay or STRAIGHT? There's a contradiction here June. Would you care to clarify? Not that you should expect a reply though I already promised Kris in the subject line... Nuff said! -Caveat Lector- blah blah > When they get the free use of public facilities, such as public schools, then it costs the public money. > > If they wish to continue to utilize public facilities for their meetings, let them pay rent like other PRIVATE > organizations do. To the best of my knowledge schools are publically funded however the buildings themselves are not public as such. Every "public" school I've ever been in has very prominent signs to the effect of: " Visitors must report to the office. Trespassers will be prosecuted" How does one trespass on public property? You can't. Therefore in a public school it is called public because members of the public may attend it. But as I illustrate with the example of the school sign previously, the edifice itself is not a public place. My complaints about the demonization of the BSA is about the TRUE public places. Take Nat'l parks for example, they are truly public not pseudo-public like a public school. That's what gets my ire up. I could care less about any schools that quit supporting the BSA. That's their preogative. > > On another note, have you ever looked at your manners when you refer to > > people as homophobes? > > First of all phobias are mental illness. > > You got it. > > > > To imagine you have the audacity to infer anyone who contradicts > > your lesbian/homo slant...err RANT > > Whatever slant/rant I have is not 'lesbian/home', since I'm straight... And by the way, private citizens ARE members of the public too. And if the homosexual members of the land wanted to start their own private group then I'd be damned well fighting for their allowed use of public facilities. Personally I couldn't care less if the BSA was a ONLY homosexual group! They should still be able to go to the park, forest, campground...whatever...just as you and I can enjoy. Do you have a "boy scout" tax where you live June? Is that how they are funded? No! If the BSA was funded the way the gay and femenist lobbys in Washington they'd get so much from the public tit they wouldn't need all those fundraisers they do. Better yet, can you name one single public facility those aforementioned groups are BARRED from thereby causing this inequality and predjudice you so zealously work to overcome? Why is it that Satanists, Neo-Nazi's, The Black Panthers et alia should be granted the use of Main Street USA to parade down but not the BSA? They all seem exclusive in membership. On another note, have you ever looked at your manners when you refer to people as homophobes? First of all phobias are mental illness. To imagine you have the audacity to infer anyone who contradicts your lesbian/homo slant...err RANT is "predisposed to mental illness" when rebutting, debating, ignoring or displaying apathy towards the lesbian/homo socio-political agenda. [CTRL] A law allowing the cops to break the law.
http://www.canoe.ca/CNEWSLaw0009/14_law.html Lawyers wary of proposal Suggestion cops be allowed to break laws met with reservations By DOUG BEAZLEY -- Edmonton Sun EDMONTON -- A federal proposal to give cops leeway to break the law - and even commit violent acts - to bolster investigations is getting nervous looks from the legal community. A Justice Canada white paper being shopped around provincial governments and police forces suggests cops be empowered to commit crimes ranging from drug trafficking to violent assaults, if they believe they need to in order to pursue an investigation. "The question we want to ask here is, why?" said lawyer Stephen Jenuth, head of the Alberta Civil Liberties Association. "There are provisions in the law now to allow officers to do things like sell drugs. Why is the government pursuing such sweeping powers all of a sudden?" The white paper deals mostly with undercover police operations and drug stings. The paper says "intentional use of force" outside of the law wouldn't be permitted except in special circumstances - such as a situation where an undercover cop uses violence to prevent another undercover cop from being exposed or to protect evidence. "Say a cop wants to infiltrate a biker group and they ask him to, for instance, go beat up Stephen Jenuth," said Jenuth. "He could make a mistake and end up killing me, I guess." Actually, the white paper says the liability shield would not cover the commission of sexual offences or assaults leading to "grievous bodily harm" or death. And a senior lawyer with Justice Canada said the shield probably wouldn't cover undercover cops committing assaults simply to prove they're not cops. "The officer would be expected to find another way," said Michael Zigayer. The special liability protection proposed by the paper would kick in when the officer got clearance from a "senior law enforcement official" designated by the Crown. But in cases where communication with that senior officer isn't possible, the cop could make a field decision to go ahead and do the crime. "It's a slippery slope, and one never knows what's at the bottom of it," said local criminal lawyer Robbie Davidson. "I can't see how this is justified." Const. Grant Obst can. The head of the Canadian Police Association said police need to be able to bend the rules occasionally in order to fight organized crime. "There are situations where we're better equipped to infiltrate criminal organizations if we're able to ... compromise the law in certain situations," he said. And Zigayer said the white paper policy wouldn't protect a cop if a subsequent criminal trial found he went too far. "The officer would face prosecution for the crime, and the evidence he gathered would be thrown out," he said. An Alberta Justice spokesman, meanwhile, said the department has "reservations" about the use-of-force provision. He wouldn't elaborate. The lawyers, justice ministers and police will get their chance to critique the paper Oct. 5 when the feds hold a special round table on their proposals.

Re: [CTRL] What is a T----? June, Bill and Aleisha
I refrain from profanity on this list for the simple reason it is profane. However, the word in question and the abhorence thereof is IMHO nothing more than the continual assualt on the english language by those who wish to ram gender-neutral language down our throats. To exemplify, if a man has a very anti-social attitude we call him an @$$h0le. If the @$$hole also happens to be vindictive we then change anotimical references and call him a prick. Both refer to parts of the body, whereas if you do the same to a woman, all hell breaks loose. What makes me sicker than the profanity in question, is to which the double standard is applied. Sorry... but I grew up with a militant feminist mother. My opinion is educated. But for the record I prefer civility. [CTRL] GUN OWNERS PLEASE READ --Police pull gun law support --- Alberta officers say Ottawa broke promises
Dear Reader, Thank God I live in Alberta. Alberta is the one rebel province in confederation. I suppose much as Texas or Alabama could be considered to be in the good ol' US of A. The Fed's in Ottawa about five years ago began their diabolical drive to surreptitiously disarm Canadians en masse. This gradual disarming has not been officially announced as an agenda by the goverment but, hey, who are we kidding here? Certainly not ourselves. The law in effect at this point is a gun registration requirement. This is for each and every gun. All gun owners must register their guns no later than Jan 1, 2003. Recently I saw on television a government payed for commercial that was rather intimidating to gun owners basically inferring heavy handed police tactics, large fines, jail time and a criminal record to those who do not comply. We all know that those who do register their guns are really registering for gun confiscation in the end. Does anyone seriously believe a criminal will register his weapon prior to a bank robbery? As good fortune has it Alberta has been against Bill C-68 since its beginings. The one beautiful thing about our Canadian constitution is the "notwithstanding clause". There is no 2nd amendment here. Gun ownership is a priviledge. But the notwithstanding clause allows my province and other provinces, to tell the Fed's to screw off and the law in this province will not stand. Period. My province has rattled that sabre before to the Fed's. In the news article that follows, it looks like soon it might be coming to a head. It's not often you see the police sticking up for the gun rights of law abiding citizens. God bless Alberta, :o) Mike Smith Friday 1 September 2000 Police pull gun law support Alberta officers say Ottawa broke promises Emma Poole, Calgary Herald Rank and file police officers in Calgary and Edmonton will withdraw their backing of Ottawa's gun control registry today -- a move they hope will spark opposition to the controversial law from departments across Canada. "Alberta is putting a resolution forward that is to withdraw support for Bill C-68," said Calgary Police Association president Al Koenig. "The Alberta federation feels that the gun legislation promises made by the federal government have not been kept." The provincial association will vote against the controversial registration at the Canadian Police Association's annual meeting being held in Halifax until Saturday. If a majority of provinces vote against the legislation, the Canadian association, which represents front-line officers across the country, will withdraw its support. "The gun registry as it sits right now is causing law abiding citizens to register their guns but it does nothing to take one illegal gun off the street or to increase any type of penalty for anybody that violates any part of the legislation," said Koenig. But supporters of the legislation -- which requires firearms owners to obtain licences by Jan. 1, 2003 -- say if the association pulls its support it will surely send a message to criminals that law enforcement in Canada doesn't care about gun activity. "Gun registration will provide vital safety information to police officers and be a very valuable tool in detecting stolen or smuggled firearms and prosecuting related crimes," said Emile Therien, president of the Canadian Safety Council. "We're talking public safety here." Therien is confused that the association would reconsider its gun control position after five years of support for the legislation. This isn't the first time a provincial association has challenged the legislation at a national meeting. Last year in Regina, delegates from Saskatchewan called on the federal group to withdraw its support for the gun registry, The Firearms Act, passed in 1995, requires gun owners to obtain licences by the end of this year and register each firearm by the beginning of 2003. The Quebec delegation has already stepped forward and declared its support for the registration. On Thursday, the group reaffirmed it would be voting for the legislation and feels it is an important aspect of firearms control. "Registration of firearms and licensing of their owners are essential for the protection of both public and police officers against unfortunate accidents, domestic violence and other tragedies," said Quebec's police association president Yves Prud'Homme. The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police is in full support of gun registration and supports the registry fully, said Calgary police deputy Chief Rick Hanson. But Koenig said there are just too many bogus issues in the current legislation for the association to support it any longer. Just when I'd thought I'd heard it all... this happens. The law of the land in America (and perhaps my nation of Canada??) says that parental consent is NOT needed for Teens aka KIDS to get an abortion. A surgical procedure no less, yet the law FORBIDS that same person from being splashed with mere water in the name of Jesus Christ? I can only say that when I read things like this it... "only serves to confirm my suspicions that I'm still a man in need of a savior" ~ DC Talk ~ What a sick, perverse world we live in! Mike Smith <>< http://www.mcjonline.com/news/00b/2830c.htm Police Investigate Church That Baptized Under-Age Youth Woburn, MA (MCNS) -- A church that has previously been accused of baptizing under-age youth without their parents' permission is now under investigation for pornography. Police carted away boxloads of evidence on Friday August 25. Among the items taken from Anchor Baptist Church in Woburn were baptismal gowns, photographs of baptisms, songbooks and documents, The Boston Herald reported. "We preach against it [pornography], and that is a principle of ours," Assistant Pastor Duaine Phillips told the Boston Globe, which also reported on the investigation. "If there were any incident even tentatively close to it, we would be more interested in finding out the truth than anyone." There appeared to be no warning before the warrant was served and no charges have been filed. The congregation stands behind its pastor, Chris Pledger, who in 1996 was investigated for baptizing under-age youth. Anchor Baptist church was packed on Sunday following the police raid. "The pastor is a man of God, walks with integrity and is a man of dignity," one member told WCVB-Television reporter Cara Birrittieri. In the earlier case, Pledger was charged with luring youth from housing projects to the church with the promise of candy and basketball games, the Boston Herald reported. When children arrived at the church, they were asked to change into baptismal robes and be baptized, but could decline, the paper added. Anchor Baptist has a large bus ministry. Church officials conceded that at one time some youth may have been baptized without parental permission, but agreed to enforce a policy that would prevent that in the future. Parents had specifically complained that youth were asked to change into the nylon baptismal robes although they were allowed to do so in privacy, the Boston Globe reported. Some of the youth wore pants, but others stripped naked under the robes, one parent told the Globe. Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley declined to comment on the current investigation. She also headed the 1996 inquiry. © 2000 Maranatha Christian News Service (Post date: August 30, 2000)

Re: [CTRL] Wormwood - revelations
Revelation 8 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. I think it might pertain more to Chernobyl than a national forrest. I saw a documentary some time ago that shot some film footage in and around some of the evacuated zone surrounding Chernobyl. Not only does wormwood the plant grow there, but Chernobyl just happens to be named after it. Wormwood translated into Ukrainian is in fact "Chernobyl". Coincedence? The Chernobyl power plant is still producing electricity to this day. Its sarcophagus built to contain radiation is crumbling to pieces. I wonder if there will be a next time? Re: [CTRL] Twisted: Open letter to Bill Gates. OR. How fucked up ARE Libertarians.
Well that is all fine and grand. But I PERSONALLY caught Bill Gates's Microsoft in a DELIBERATE I REPEAT DELIBERATE act of comsumer fraud. I tried to mitigate the matter prior to legal action but was "brushed off" until I felt it necessary to SUE Microsoft. Since that time I initiated legal proceedings Microsoft I have been THREATENED by Microsoft that I will be SUED by them as recompense for their time and money spent. My suggestion to you Mr. Bill-Lover would be that when Microsoft writes an application that can draw blood from a stone, you should invest heavily in Microsoft stock! To sue me for legal expenses...rofl I'm still saving up for a pot to piss in! What is the consumer fraud I make allegations of? In the End Users Licence Agreement that ships with MS Flight Simulator 2000 it states in section 6 that if the original media (ie: the CDrom it came on) is necessary to play/use the software, the end user (ME) may make a copy of it for the strict purposes of "archival and back-up". Well guess what? MicroSHAFT incorporated a new form of CDrom encryption so that any copy (burned CDrom) that you try to use is REJECTED by the game as an "incorrect CDrom", CONTRARY to my rights granted to me under the End Users Licence Agreement. If it doesn't work, it's not a TRUE back-up! This act of consumer fraud was effectual BEFORE I even left the store I bought the game at! Before I even removed the shrink wrapping. In other words this fraud was PREMEDITATED!!! Last night their lawyer left me a message on my answering machine with an out of court settlement offer. This offer I am not at liberty to discuss because part of the offer included a Non-Disclosure Agreement, and it would be rather imprudent of me to say anything at this point that might jeopardize my case against them. I replied to their lawyer that he should fax me the wording of this non-disclosure agreement as I am reluctant to waive my right of freedom of speech. So the matter is still in limbo at present. To prove that I am suing them and to PROVE that they are wanting me to be SILENT about the potentially damaging evidence I have on them I will say this much: 1) The court docket number for the case of Michael C. Smith v. Microsoft Canada Co. is P0090104280 This is in the Province of Alberta, Canada, and in the city of Calgary. This is a matter of public record and anyone can verify this info is indeed true. 2) Their lawyer is Colin Feasby [EMAIL PROTECTED] from the lawfirm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt. You can ask him yourself if I'm suing Microsoft. 3) Our next court date is 9:30 am Sept 1st. Court room 202. 603 6th Ave. SW Calgary, Alberta T2P 0T3 Your invited to attend me slamming your "boyfriend" Bill Gates. ;) The fact of the matter remains that the man and company you love Soo much has been caught in a CRIMINAL act of fraud, although I preferred to take them on in civil litigation. It is still a CRIMINAL act! When they want a non-disclosure agreement I know they're running scared that this will make it to trial and besmirch their name.God Forbid it could even set a PRECEDENT!!! When those crooks offer an out of court settlement to a blue collar high school dropout when they posses billions of dollars to hire the brightest legal minds in the land you know they're scared and have their backs to the wall. They know they got caught and they know they've already lost! You can always count on Microsoft to do thie right thing but only after they've exhausted every other possibility. Do you still see Bill Microshaft in the same light? I simply don't see the point in blasting away at the inevitable gun collection agent(s) who will one day walk up your sidewalk to ring on your doorbell. Unless of course you'd already picked that day to die and wanted to take a few of them out with you. Besides a little gratification it accomplishes nothing but to further the inevitable gun confiscation and have more draconian gun laws legislated. I'm sure everytime there is another school shooting the politicians rejoice privately while send public condolences. And by the way, I wouldn't talk about American readiness to fight tyranny. For instance my fellow compatriots were fighting and DYING in two world wars long before Americans entered the war(s). Whoo hoo! America came in WWI in the last friggin year. In WWII they had to be attacked before they could work up enough adrenalin to get up courage to fight and enter the war. Ya ya... sure sure.. you guys are ready to fight. But only when it suits you. Pardon me for me inserting my two bits of opinion on an american election from a non-american stand point. I really don't think it matters who gets voted in. The end result will be the same although one president might make it more expedient than the other. The end result WILL BE the same. ...now to digress I realize that there are Christians, theists of various beliefs and atheists on this list. I mean to offend nobody. However, I simply cannot seem to escape the fact that so much of circumstance around us in the world today regarding a new world order (more aptly termed one world governance) seems to mirror biblical prophesy in the book of revelations. [CTRL] Let the CARNIVORE choke on its MEAT!!!
Dear Reader, As most of us are now aware, the FBI has an electronic Big Brother device it can attach to Internet Sevice Providers to monitor e-mails and other types of inbound/outbound traffic. This insidious machine is named "carnivore" because it is supposed to get to the "meat" of it. In other words, the machine, (alleged to be a windows 2000 computer) parses internet traffic looking for certain keywords. These keywords would then be flagged. The more keywords, and the higher the occurance, the higher priority given to a flagged e-mail for instance. These high priority flagged e-mails no doubt in the end, have to be reviewed by a human. That costs the FBI time, manpower and money. It is my belief that we, the subscribers to these e-mail lists and news groups are the people who care about goverment intrusion, the new world order as well as other insidous intrusions by the "elite". Most people I know would rather be pacified by the survivor tv show than fight for justice. I also believe that many of us are boiling inside to act out in civil disobedience but don't know how or when to protest. Well my fellow resistors, (the squeemish need not apply) this is what I think can send the FBI a very strong message. But I need your help. No it isn't writing some fat assed congressman or senator, it's exploiting carnivore's weak spot. Carnivore takes in staggering amounts of information. The system simply can't filter through it all. So as I said above, it parses for keywords. That is its point of exploition. What needs to be done is this: 1) Send this e-mail to every "sympathetic to the cause" person you know. 2) Be prepared to have the FBI look into your life, or perhaps the IRS. (if you have nothing to hide/loose...great!) I'm canadian so they can't touch me...lol 3) Create a few different web based free email accounts. 5 would be a good number. Try and pick a provocative e-mail name. [EMAIL PROTECTED] for instance. The sender/recipient names might also be parsed too for keywords. Pick e-mail accounts that have their server on american soil for best results. 4) E-mail letters to all of your new e-mail accounts. Then forward them back and forth. Include "quote original" so that every generation has a greater occurance of the keywords that trigger carnivore's appetite for "meat". Eventually you should get noticed by the system. And with enough of us we should be able to bog down the system to a crawl to the point that the FBI will no longer be able to discern the gibberish from the genuine McCoy. Try e-mailing the Whitehouse using nothing but keywords so there's no threat implied. That will get you noticed by carnivore. Some suggested keywords are: bomb, gun, allah, kill, president, nerve gas, assasination, grenade, missle, clinton, reno, bush, gore, explosion, well you get the idea but don't forget there's a war on drugs. coke, herion, pot, deal, transaction, etc etc It's the same principal that "mafiaboy" kid did a few months back grinding down those websites. EXCEPT this PREFECTLY LEGAL! You see, mafiaboy controled and used many computers to flood these servers. We in unison with our computers could do the same thing. Why was his a crime but this legal? Simply put, he deliberately targeted those websites in violation of the law. He flooded them. The difference in legality here is that we would not be targeting anything besides one of our own e-mail addresses. No crime there. And it certainly isn't our fault if by excersizing our right of freedon of speech, the FBI's carnivore can't keep up with the flow of high priority data is it? So my fellow civil-disobedients, is anyone up for it? :o) Mike Smith
