I had a play around with this as my Arcam AVR360 has DLNA support. It's
horrific. No criticism levelled against Squeeze2uPNP - it's simply that
the DLNA/uPnP-AV protocol is complete crap and should never have been
approved by anyone.

I was previously using a V3 in the kitchen, which was sat on top of the
kitchen units. I've replaced this with a Duet and moved the V3 (I won't
call it a "Classic" as it's a Slim rather than Logitech branded unit)
into the living room - after giving it a thorough cleaning to get rid of
the grease that's built up on it! :D

This player feeds a set of A-Part coaxial ceiling speakers via the
analogue outputs. It does actually sound a bit better than the
Squeezebox V3.  My bathroom system uses the same setup as the original
kitchen one, with a V3.  I replaced the V3 with a Duet in the kitchen
mainly to avoid the grease issues. I'd say that both the V3 and Duet are
comparable to a good budget CD player via the analogue outs.

The living room system uses the digital output from a V3 into an Arcam
AV receiver powering Monitor Audio RX6s, so this is basically audiophile
quality.

The master bedroom has a V3 feeding a Yamaha DSP-AX620 AV receiver with
Gale 4 speakers. This is a good mid-range system.

Short version - if you're using the SPDIF output there's no difference
between the different players. With analogue they'll compare favourably
with a £200-ish CD player.

[slim] Squeezebox 3 replacement PSU

So the PSU died on one of my Squeezeboxen. It's a Slim V3 wired-only,
pre-Logitech.

Have tracked down a replacement which does the job just fine:

Total cost £5.66 with the VAT, free delivery. (I have a trade account
with CPC/Farnell so the free delivery may not be universal.)

This unit is 1000mA rather than the original which was 2000mA, however
as this Squeezebox is wired-only it should be more than adequate (the
wi-fi card is a big power drain). It's been on for the last couple of
hours and it's not getting anything more than slightly warm.

Just thought I'd let people know in case anyone else has the same issue.

Been following this thread since the beginning. To see the progress you
gentlemen have made in this short period of time (presumably while still
working and having a life) shows what motivated individuals can do on
their own. Keep up the good work.

I, too, would be willing to be a .5 version tester if you need another
body. In the past I was Project Manager, developer (mostly BAL
Assembler), have built a couple of houses, rescued cars from sitting in
fields, built stereos...you name it. Sort of like Jack of All without
all the Linux knowledge. I have fiddled a bit in Linux, C, C+, Visual
Basic, but I am by no means expert. I also have a Classic, a Boom, and a
Radio. I run my LMS on a Windows 7 box.

Squeezebox things are working well, but I can't image music without
something like them.

Again, keep up the good work, and if I can helpI'll try my best.

I've been an avid user/lurker of the Squeezebox forums, and am very
excited about this venture. I wish there was some way that I could
contribute but I doubt there is. I'm definitely a "Jack of all trades"
but importantly a "master of NONE".

I'd be a willing participant of GEN2. I can't image life without my
squeezeboxen.

Best of all to you with the appropriate skills. I'll be following
closely here on the forum.

Yeah, other threads have gone through this before. Many seem to have had
their power brick pack up. Try testing the output from the power brick.
You could search for the specs in the forum they're there several times
and I don't recall them.

IMO there are two ways to travel this road (Probably more but just for
sake of discussion, two.) One is to have a multi-room stereo that feeds
that same source throughout the house. The second is to have multiple
SlimDevices throughout the house that can be sync'd to achieve the same
as number one or run separtely to the taste of occupants of the
different rooms.

Me, I walk the line in between. I have a Niles speaker switch that
distributes the source to several of the public rooms of the house, but
also have a Boom as an alarm in the bedroom, one planned for the shop,
and an SB3 (with the AV amp connected) in the "entertainment" room.
It's great music EVERYWHERE! 

I know you'll have fun planning and executing either/any solution.

I took this camera, charger, and an inexpensive plug adapter (the
recharger is rated for 120v - 240V so an converter is not required) to
both St. Lucia and Barcelona this year. NO PROBLEMS. It's great because
the recharger works quickly. Something less the 30 minutes for a full
recharge. However, I do carry an extra battery around while touring
just in case I use up the battery. (I've already been stuck at a
graduation an run out of batteries before my son walked on stage.)

I felt the same way you did a while back, but after utilizing a couple
of tools found that they really are in my library. The issue at hand,
IMO, is the Squeeze Center and you are looking in different places. The
easiest tool to use is probably MP3Tag or Tag & Rename. For me, the best
way was to use MySQL Viewer (I do work some with relational databases so
this is probably a "geek only" option). Using the tools I was able to
locate and modify (in the FLAC tags) the weird genres. Oh, I also used
Album Catalog Creator as a visual verification tool too. Search the
forum, there are many discussions about all of these.

I think they meant that all of the products except the Controller will
meet your needs. (Many on the forum do have many different products
within the line up.) It all depends on where you want to start. Boom is
a self contained stereo that run on your network system, Classic and
others interface with your existing stereo equipment. Transporter is
the ultimate in network stereo equipment (In my and many others
opinions.) Pick the one you like best. They all function using the same
software! As a matter of fact you can download Squeeze Center and
install their software player, Soft Squeeze, and try it all out. Search
the wiki and the forum for more details on that.

Oh, okay - so "connected to SN" is what the player reports on the
display. 

I presently have two choices under Setup Squeezebox (4 of 4): "Connect
to Squeezenetwork" or "Connect to [server name] (IP Address)". The
server name (my computer's name) and the IP address for it are
correctly entered.

After selecting "Connect to [server name] (IP Address)", SC finds the
player. So all that stuff seems to be working.

However, my Favorites (streaming radio stations), which SN knows about,
are missing in SC and in the player. Do I have to do something to import
the favorites list into SC?

I'm back. I had to exit the SC application and re-launch it for it to
respond.

It now finds the player. Since I didn't change any settings from when I
first posted my request for assistance, I have no idea why now it works
but I'm happy with this progress anyway. 

Unlike SN, though, SC can't find my favorites. It looks like I have to
run SN to play those. Ideas?

Disabling the server's firewall does not change the behavior, SC still
reports that the player cannot be found. 

I'm not certain what you mean by trying to connect to SC "while [I'm]
on SN." I can report that SC cannot see the player whether or not my
browser has http://www.squeezenetwork.com/ open. 

Going through the network setup on the player: the music source setting
specifies the correct IP address for the server. When I then hit the
right arrow, it displays "Connecting to Squeezecenter . . . " sits
there for a while, then "Now Playing" displays. 

However, now when I right-click on the Squeezecenter application and
select "Open Squeezecenter," nothing happens. It used to open a new
browser window, but not now. That looks to be a different problem which
I'll try to sort out then come back to this issue.

So until then, thanks for your help on this.

[slim] SN finds SB2, SC doesn't

I recently moved to a new house, set up new wireless routers, finally
unpacked my SB2 and reset it so it could connect to the network. It
needed a firmware update, which I installed, and I installed SC. 

SN was initially unable to see the SB, but I plugged in the SB2's PIN
into SN* and it found the SB and my favorites, etc. Works fine, I can
operate the SB through SN.

SC cannot find the player, though. I have the SC service running. SC
reports "Your player was not found."

So: SN can see the player and SC cannot -- what do I need to do so SC
sees the player?

Never mind -- I got it sorted. Looks like I needed to uninstall SS and
install SC, then launch SC, and it found the SB2, determined that it
needed new firmware, which I followed the prompt to install, and
everything is now working peachy. 

Many thanks to all who helped me overcome the initial password problem.
If this group was not here, does there exist documentation on
slimdevices.com that would have gotten me over that hump?

Now we're talkin'! Thanks all. Factory reset let me enter the new router
password, the SB connected and obtained IP address from DHCP server, no
problem. 

Then it asked for the IP address for my SqueezeCenter. Not sure what
that is. I entered the IP address of the computer which has my
SlimServer on it, but the SB2 sat there for a bit then went dark. 

Powered the SB2 back up and it hung at "Connecting to SlimCenter"

Out of curiosity, I launched SS and it could not find the SB2. 

So ... what's my next step?

Thank you. Yes, batteries in remote are fresh, SB2 responds to
keypresses to set up networking just fine. I can scroll and select the
desired wireless router. It's when I get to the Password screen, which
presently shows a series of , that the remote doesn't appear to
do a darn thing. Pressing number buttons accomplishes nothing, though
arrow buttons allow me to go back to previous screen, or move on to
next step, where the SB tries to log on to the selected router but
can't because I've been unsuccessful at entering the new password.

Should the Enter Password screen show the results of button presses on
remote, e.g., if I press 1234 then "1234" should display on that screen
during the entry process. 'Cause I can't get it to do anything but show
the "***"

[slim] SB2 - entering password w/ remote?

We just moved to a new house, and new wireless routers have been
installed. The SB2 finds the new router fine, but when it comes to
entering the password key with the remote, I'm stumped. Pressing the
0-9 keys doesn't result in any response on the SB's display, and even
if they did, how can I access letters? What about uppercase letters?

I've had an old 766/1 GB box sitting in my office waiting for me to set
it up as a stand-alone, always-on Squeeze server. I'm willing to give it
some testing from the perspective of a Linux newbie. I'll load up some
of my CD's, copy some of my existing library, and generally "kick the
tires" if you'd like, but as a warning my testing time is limited at
the moment with completing construction in my basement for Thanksgiving
(an extra guest room & bath) though I should make that "dead line" (&
I'm the one who'll be dead idf I miss it ;)

Slim product. IMO, they are in order by best results:

1. Contact Technical Support. The very best way to do that is to call
the support line but second to that is email them at

2. Search the forum. Actually this very question has been presented
more than once and the answer has been provided.

3. If that doesn't work post a request (as you did) and provide all the
details you can about you system (OS is required), the version of

Although the Slim employees do contribute here a LOT, as you probably
already know, the best way to contact them is through Tech Support. I'm
in the states and have had tremendous success calling and getting all
the answers I need, but depending on your location, email is the other
alternative. Or, I guess you could wait for a bit, but I'm never that
patient ;)

HANG IN THERE! How we can we help you solve your issues unless you tell
us what they are and what your set up is? That way you're contributing
to improvement and learning along the way. I would advise you of
opening a new thread, telling us about your system, version information
(from the WebUI), and the problems you're having. Many people who know
how to help, which pretty much excludes me ;), will get into a dialogue
with you and make the system better for EVERYONE (which includes you! :)
My guess is that there's something specfic to your set up that is giving
you problems.

I have a very similar story just slightly different ;) It all started
for me somewhere around 2000, I think. The CD player in my car took a
dump and rather than ripe up the dash or spend the cash to replace the
trunk unit I purchased an Archos 2000. I then started ripping my music
collection to MP3's and then happily transmitted an FM signal from the
Archos to the car's radio. Then, in 2002, we built a new house and I
wired it for central stereo and wired network. It was then I started
looking for some network player that I could interface into the house
system. For years it was just lusting around the Net drooling because
all our cash had gone into the house. Somewhere around 2004 I was
pretty firm on getting a Roku but just as I was about to make a
purchase Slim announced the SB2. The wired version and open source, I'm
a geek afterall, made the decision a no-brainer. I then set out on a
mission to convert to FLAC with the addition of replay gain. We've
impressed many visitors with our whole-house stereo that "never needs
the music changed", however, the prospect of the Boom (& a necessitated
wireless network for everyone's laptop/iPhone) new areas now have the
possibility of music (my workshop and garage). I still haven't dusted
off the credit card yet, but a Boom is definitely on my Christmas
list.

My music life was changed forever and continues to get better and
better!

I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't look at my SC at the moent.
However, I believe there is a setting in the Server Settings area that
keeps the computer "awake" while playing. Sorry to not be very specific
but take a gander there.

>From an IT perspective, I don't agree with this addition. As I
understand the 7.3 release and any other release may include changes to
the data base. If that is correct your system would not function
correctly if you did not delete and rescan your library. IMO, the
rescan is a temporary inconvenience for permanent peace of mind. (I
realize that it's not that temporary for those of us with gigantic
libraries but stillthe system would work as updated.)

followed those guidelines using MP3Tag with great results. I think the
one thing that made the most difference was removing all the tags
except for ID3.

If you're a handy sort of bloke, you might look into repairing your
remote yourself. Search the forums! There are several threads regarding
this and it seems as though the IR sender is liable to crack it's solder
joints when dropped. There's everything from how to open the remote to
pictures of the internals and where the repair is needed. (Sorry, I'm
too lazy to do the search for you...oh, and I'm at work)

Things change quickly! I just tried that link and got a $399 after

Yes, there are EMF meters out and about but they're pretty expensive
for just one use. Maybe you can rent one or have an appliance repairman

I definitely agree with the glitch assessment. I live in the US, own a

You're correct. Squeeze Center doesn't process the regain tags unless
you turn on the processing. I believe the setting can be found in the
server settings page, but am not at home to check.

I'm no expert but I recommend not messing around with the database.
Besides it being risky, you'll have to make the same correction, which
will be boring and labor intensive, every time you do a rescan. I would
recommend going into your playlist directory and deleting the playlist
there or point Squeeze Center to an empty folder for playlists and do a
rescan.

Sounds like you're on the right road, but have you installed
SoftSqueeze? I think you have to have a player attached for the right
panel to perform correctly. So, if you haven't already, open up
Softsqueeze and get it started playing some music.

Building a playlist can be done from either the Web UI, SoftSqueeze,
the SB3 remote (when you get it), or even a Controller (which neither
of us have...yet). My preference is to use the Fishbone Skin in the Web
UI and build my playlists there, but try a couple of different ways to
find your favorite.

Welcome aboard Brandon! It's great that you're working head before
getting your SB3. Yes, you can create playlists without the physical
unit. After installing SC did you scan your music directory? If not,
that's something you need to do. Then I recommend that you load
Softsqueeze and play around with your lists there. (SoftSqueeze is
downloaded from the Help portion of SC.)

I built my server out of OLD Pentium III (766) machine with 512M of
memory. I took everything out of the box that was not necessary
(floppy, sound card, etc.). Then I download Ubuntu 7.10 server and have
been using Putty to run it headless (it's in the basement). I do all of
my ripping on my normal desktop and the FTP it to the server. (I
instantly have a backup plus when I back up the desktop I have a third
level backup of my library.) I have NO performance issues but I also
have only a couple of plug-ins installed. I only spent money buying a
larger disk drive to handle my library. I'm going to pick up a wattage
measurement device to see the energy draw, but I love my server and it
was basically free.

I'd vote no for a separate amp. However...

A Squeezebox with a reasonably powerful (40-60W RMS) built-in amplifier
would be a goer. Especially if one was made in a form factor that would
fit on a dual-gang electrical outlet plate with all the connections
(power, wired LAN and speakers) concealed at the rear. Would obviously
need a deep back-box but one of these could mount on the wall in my
kitchen and have the speakers powered directly from it.

A "boom-box" type device (wireless, internal amp and speakers, possibly
with an internal rechargable battery) would also be a goer.

Other things I'd like to see - and I'm sure there's a demand for it:

A 17" hi-fi sized Squeezebox with a display and front panel controls.
Doesn't need the dual displays or the fancy knob and DAC of the
Transporter, just standard SB3 functionality with buttons on the front
to control it if you can't find the remote.

Someone mentioned a Squeezebox chip (probably implemented by
incorporating a SlimServer/SqueezeCentre client into the controller of
an AV receiver) to be used into other hi-fi components. This would be a
work of genius as this would provide network audio functionality to
"proper" hi-fi and AV. Currently I'm using a Turtle Beach Audiotron to
stream audio to my hi-fi downstairs (Arcam AVR-250 and upstairs (Yamaha
DSP-AX620) through the digital out. I'd rather use a Squeezebox but
can't get one in a form factor that won't look a bit out of place in
the kit rack.

I suppose a SB2 could sit on top of the Sky+ box under the telly with a
long Toslink at a push but the SB3 would look out of place there.
(Trying to track down a second hand wired-only SB2 if anyone in the UK
has one for sale?)

In the past I have had this happen (but not ten minutes worth). When
checking in Task Manager I found that FF had grown huge in memory
assigned. (This must have been cured in one of their latest revisions
b/c I haven't had in happen in awhile. Then, just stopping & restarting
FF solved the problem, but I image you've already tried that.

Oh, perchance do you have automatic update of FF? They just had a new
release recently. Maybe...

You picked a rather old thread to tag onto, and development work has
past even SC 7.0 (it seems like 7.0.1 is about to be officially
released soon), and you really haven't given any detail information to
your exact problem. 

I'm certainly not an expert here, but it seems you either need to give
much more information about your system, operating system, exact
version of SC your having problems with, and anything else you can
think of that one of the forum experts might need. That said, I would
recommend that you download the latest version of 7.0.1 and see if/how
it works for you. That's where the development team is working now, so
they're more likely to pick it up.

OH...BTW, you might need to compose a bug report if you have no success
to get the SD/Logitech team to look at what's going on.

This topic has discussed MANY times. Check out some of the threads in
the forum. To consolidate it all just go ahead and download the latest
from the web site and install over your current Slimserver.

As to which version, you have to decide for yourself. 7.0.1 (the daily
build) is still in beta, so if you're up to a few possible problems
(none that I've had or read of) and you're willing to report bugs if
found, go that route. Otherwise, I'd recommend 7.0

Verdemar,

I had the same issue, but read a couple of posts in the past that tell
you to change a setting in your tagging software to not change the file
date when updating tags. It seems as most tagging software has that
option. MP3Tag definitely does and made all the difference for me.

"Jagged Little Pill", rescanned, and ran RC4. The output looks perfect!

You're correct, I have two complete libraries. I guess I'm being lazy
doing that as I could use something like Media monkey for my MP3
players, but the MP3 files should not be in the Slim database. I'll
have to check and see if a couple may have gotten in the playlists. Is
your script looking at the playlists? I haven't reviewed your code, but
will investigate my playlist regardless.

It sounds like it's just "noise" in my database that I need to correct.
For now I'll use version 2 and it doesn't "see" that noise.

that the URL had that %20, which I know means "space". Yet it didn't

Well -- that's weird. It's the first one that I tried. All I got was the
URL to scroll across the front of the SB and no "checking stream,"
"buffering." Just a scroll and silence. And now it works. I remain

I just downloaded and ran RC4a. The run time wasn't much longer, but
the results were a little disappointing. I still get the same results
of multiple listings for some albums. As an example, Alanis
Morrisette's "Jagged Little Pill". I get four listings: the first with
one track (track one) and album art, the second with just track two &
"No Cover Available", the third with tracks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,
11, & 12 with art, the fourth with just track 13 no art, and the fourth
with just track 13 with art.

I checked the tags in MP3Tag. There is only one genre per track. The
album name has no special characters.

I'm stumped. RC2a worked the best for me so far.

Sorry for my bad results!

Come on in! The "water is fine"!

I feel your "pain". I guess I'm never happy with what I have and look
to move up when everything is working. I guess it's the geek in me. I
run a pretty vanilla system with one or two plug-ins, but I have never
looked back after "going beta" in the end of November. I do not have
experience with your plug-ins but have not heard any problems with
upgrading them here on the forum. Just remember that you HAVE to
download the version 7 plug-ins!

fullness," and "Screensaver when playing:" set to "now playing," the SB
is playing, and it is displaying (with the occasional scroll) "KUSC/FM
Los Angeles, CA" Oh, I have been hitting the "Apply" button on the web
interface whenever I change the display settings.

Thanks, Andy. I spoke too soon -- right after I asked if SD had
addressed this issue, the stream slowed down and I've experienced a
couple days now of the SB repeatedly getting stuck rebuffering. Oh
well, I can just press the "play" button on the remote when that
happens ... although this is the kind of stuff that we were promised
automata would take of for us. 

Say -- side issue -- I'm trying to get my SB to display buffer
fullness. I have that selected under Player > Display > Now Playing
Information. "Screensaver when playing" is set to "none," and what I
see on the SB is information about the radio station I'm streaming. How
can I see how full the buffer is?

Thanks for your concern but at the moment it's 13:30 here and I'm on my
lunch hour. It would be nice chatting, but I won't get home this evening
until 19:30 Eastern Standard time (I think six hours after you get
there) and I image that you will be sleeping by then.

The SqueezeCenter software is what plays your MP3s. (In the future you
might consider switching to FLACs because even my 57 old ears can hear
that difference.)

It does read as though you can hook your iCub directly to your
Squeezebox/Duet either using the digital or RCA plugs. Personally, I
have a central stereo system for the house and that's where the
Squeezebox lives. Mine is attached via a cable, but MANY people here on
the forum use WiFi though there seems to be some challenge at times
doing that. It actually connects to your PC which would need to be
running or SqueezeNetwork which is an Internet "cafe" of radio stations
run by Logitech's SMS (Slim Devices). (On SqueezeNetwork your PC doesn't
have to be turned on.)

The difference as I see it between the SB2 and the Duet is the nifty
remote that comes with the Duet. It connects to your network
wirelessly, gives you full control of the player anywhere in your
house, shows you albums covers, displays the weather, displays RSS
feeds, slices breadwell, not yet ;) but it does a  LOT! If I were
starting with things now, I would purchase a Duet, but that's my
personal preference.

I'm afraid you missed something. You connect the SqueezeBox/Duet to you
Amp/Receiver.

There are many places that compare the products, but since I'm supposed
to be working I'm going to let you search for them. I agree that the
Transporter is a bit pricey, especially for my "mature" ears, but it
does have the best performance. Me, I just want a system to handle my
music and feed my audio system. I just put it on random and let it play
away. It's like listening to a radio station (which you can also do) of
music that I picked.

I love it! Many have the same results! I hope you do too!

Rene,

I think you've found the right product...at least IMHO. Where to
start...hmm. First, if you just want to play music on your computer you
can download Slimserver/SqueezeCenter from slimdevices.com, load the
software, scan the music on your computer, load SoftSqueeze from the
Help tab, and play away with you music. SLimServer/SqueezeCenter can
"slice and dice" your music many more ways than just alphabetically
(like by genre, artist, etc.) However, should you want to hook your
music up to that excellent stereo of yours then you should buy the
product. Then you hook the device to your network and stereo and pesto
the music is coming out of that stereo. BTW, the Transportor might be
for you because it has absolutely the best sound of all of Slim Devices
as I understand (Me, I just have a Squeezebox 2 and LOVE it). Though the
new duet looks awfully tempting.

I hope that makes some sense!

Was anything done about this? I'm asking because my SB has been set to
that station now for over a week and hasn't needed any help getting

Right, well whatever the reason, all I have to do here is press the
"play" button on the remote and the SB wakes up, fills buffer, and
starts playing. My question is whether there is some way for the SB to
do that w/o human (or at least my) intervention.

Right -- thanks. I gather, then, that there is no way to get the SB to
restart a temporarily stopped stream, at least with SN.

The manual, "WTF?!? The stupid SB is stopped again? Where's the
remote?" technique is pretty much the option, then. No firmware update
with a "if buffer is stuck at 5% full, retry"?

Well, I'd like a larger buffer, too, but that's not as useful to me as
not having to manually press the "play" button whenever the SB gets
stuck on an interrupted stream. I mean, why do I have to do it? Can't
the box check periodically its own darn self?

[slim] "Smart" Re-buffering?

My favorite radio station tends to drop its feed every so often, causing
my SB to display "Rebuffering...47%" or similar. Mostly, it will stay
like that all day unless I pick up the remote and press the Play
button, and it will then usually grab music, fill the buffer, and start
playing again. How can I automate the process, in effect have the SB
press the play button for me?

Is it possible that you have two different versions in the different
OS's? If so, they might have a different firmware version and thus
requesting a firmware update.

If not, someone who really knows what's going on will have to jump in
here.

This has been a reoccurring question on the forum lately. Personally, I
download SC 7.0 back in December and have never looked back. Sure, it
takes a clean install and requires you to update ALL of your plug-ins,
but for me with only a couple of plug-ins it was quick and easy.

Just go to the Slim Devices web site, click on "Download now", click on
"Beta and pre-release", and then select "7.0" ( or just go to this link:
http://www.slimdevices.com/dev_nightly.html)

>From the chatter in the forum 7.0 is VERY close to release and I can
attest to it being VERY stable. Give it a shot!

I checked as you requested. All the files except the MHTML have the
Firefox icon. The MHTML have an icon I don't recognize. (Whew, I
thought I was checking the associations correctly ;) )

No, it still opens the output list in IE. I have NO PROBLEM with the ZA
message and can ignore it anyway(as you probably know). Please don't put
any work in that direction!

It does "weird" me out a bit that it still open in IE even though I
checked the file associations. Will check more later but the better
half requires my attention.

I just download RC2a. Before running it I checked by file associations
like Schatzy recommended and they were set for Firefox. I still got the
Zone Alarm message about IE(no big deal), but everything ran fine as
usual!

I just get a request from Zone Alarm to allow internet access. Maybe
it's just IE making the request because I don't allow it as I normally
use FireFox.

I just ran release candidate 2 and it worked for me albiet with no
background on the window and something I hadn't noticed before. ACC
tells me I have 351 Albums and SC 7 tells me I have 348. Also, I wonder
why ACC accesses the internet.

Your wish doesn't make any sense to me, sorry. If you hide the SBR an IR
receiver on the SBR (even though there isn't one) wouldn't function
anyway. Seems as though you'd at least need RF, but why when the
controller looks SO COOL?

 I recently set up a wireless network during the beta test because
I wanted a SBC as soon as they came out not knowing that the SBC & SBR
would set up their own ad hoc network. Oh well, now my sons can use the
wireless with their laptops or iPhone (the geek in the group bought one
the first day they were available).

I just downloaded and ran beta 5 on SC 7.0 with no problems. The
results are fantastic in my opinion as I only have a straight vanilla
database. I really wanted a printed catalog for family and friends.

Just alittle more information (very little). I am running SC 7.0 on
Windoze XP Pro...non-VM machine. I'm also running on the latest FireFox
version 2. My guess is that I am running Frank's version 3 because of
the Various Artist bug.

I installed and ran it on SqueezeCenter 7.0 and it ran fine. The only
isse I had was that it listed all artists as "Various Artists", but I
noticed further up in the thread that happens when you don't enter a
compilation directory which I didn't. I hope to spend some time on the
script to see a work around.
