[Dx4win] About version 9.05

2019-06-25 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello all: I wonder if, in the new version, the user can edit the

Many thanks beforehand...

[Dx4win] QSL from FR4FA/Juan de Nova

2019-01-17 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello all...

A friend of me made some QSO with FR4FA in Juan de Nova island. He put
them in Dx4win, writing "FT/J" in the "Prefix" field. But, each time he
updates the country database, the "Prefix" field return to "FR".

Has somebody else found this behaviour?

Thanks for any answeer.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN report for LoTW

2018-08-27 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello all. Many thanks to SV1DPI and to N7NU for their answers. I had
done what Kostas suggested, but the resulting numbers always included
all QSOs, whatever I clicked only LoTW, only Paper QSL, or both. I
tried deleting (temporarily!) the QSOs confirmed only via paper QSL, but
I guess this method is not the best.

Well, I keep looking for a way to get a DXCC summary using only the LoTW
confirmations, or using only the paper QSLs. Thanks beforehand for any
idea!

Best greetings,

[Dx4win] DX4WIN report for LoTW

2018-08-19 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello. I'm trying to make a DXCC report only for the QSO I have
uploaded to LoTW. I click on Report > DXCC (include deleted) > Summary
and I get the table with a lot of numbers. But there I can't tell which
entities are confirmed through LoTW from those confirmed through paper
QSL. I filtered my QSO to see only the QSO confirmed through LoTW and
made a new report. I get the same results.

Question: How can I get a report only for LoTW and another report only
for paper QSL? Is that ever possible?

Thanks a lot!

[Dx4win] Dx4win 9.01... How much?

2017-10-28 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello. I downloaded and installed the new version. After some tests

In previous versions I found a text file with the price to ask for the

much I should pay to get the register file?

Thanks...

2014-10-21 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hello. A friend of me has a problem:

He is a registered user of DX4WIN and he has just installed it in a new
computer. Now, whenever he tries to save the log, in whatever folder, he
get the following message:

An exception occurred!
Unable to create directory

He is not trying to create anything, but overwriting the already existing
.dxl file.

Here is a screenshot

He has installed DX4WIN in root folder. The machine is an AMD A10, with 8

Re: [Dx4win] Windows Not Visible

2012-10-14 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello Bud and all others:

I moved from a two monitor old computer to a single large monitor
computer.
Band Map, Calendar and World Map were located in the second window.
They now don’t show up in the single monitor.
How can I restore them to my single monitor.

Go to File Preferences Screen

and uncheck Leave all windows in original position. Next time you run
DX4WIN, all windows will appear in the main window.

Re: [Dx4win] rx frequency in note for this qso field

2010-05-02 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello all...

It sounds like N1MM exports both the FREQ and FREQ_RX fields, even when
the QSO is simplex (i.e. the latter is not needed).

You would have to go into the ADIF file, find all the FREQ_RX fields
(both name and value) and completely delete them. May not be so easy.

I use to change the unwanted fields, adding a _ before them (FREQ_RX...
becomes _FREQ_RX...), so they are not recognized and imported by DX4WIN.
If necessary, I can later restore the correct name.

Re: [Dx4win] Callsign maps to wrong country

2010-03-20 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi Steve and the fellows...

 ...
I recall that there is a way to map a specific callsign to an
alternate country, but I did some text searches in DX4WIN's helpfile and
didn't find anything about it. How can I get the log entry for this
callsign to show correct as Bosnia/Herzegovina?

May be your countries database file (dx4win.cty) is outdated or has some
errors. There are many cases of country prefix changes after some date
(OK=Czechoslovakia became Czech or Slovak, YU4=Yugoslavia became Bosnia
Herzegovina, YU3=Yugoslavia became Slovenia, etc.).

I cannot seem to search the QRZ data base on web using DX4Win. Is anyone
 using this feature?

Go to the Main menu File Preferences ExtData and put the following

lookup address:

http://www.qrz.com/db/

Exit with save and then, in the log window, press F3. When the Callsign /

Re: [Dx4win] Problem in DX4WIN v 7.07

2010-01-19 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello Andy and the fellows in the reflector...

 I use DX4WIN v 7.07.
Also has found out that it not correctly defines the country for the
 Russian stations with fraction.

 For example:

UA0BA/3 - DX4WIN defines AsRus actually should be EuRus

 As should be if:

 UA0BA/1 - Eu Rus
 UA0BA/2 - Kaliningrad (UA2)
 UA0BA/3 - Eu Rus
 UA0BA/6 - Eu Rus

 UA0BA/8 - As Rus
 UA0BA/9 - As Rus
 UA0BA/0 - As Rus

 or:

 UA3AA/1 - Eu Rus
 UA3AA/2 - Kaliningrad (UA2)
 UA3AA/3 - Eu Rus
 UA3AA/4 - Eu Rus
 UA3AA/6 - Eu Rus

 UA3AA/8 - As Rus
 UA3AA/9 - As Rus
 UA3AA/0 - As Rus

I think UA0BA/3 should sign UA0BA/UA3, and UA3AA/9 should sign UA3AA/UA9.

A similarly, some times a EA station in the Canary Islanda sigs EA4xxx/8,
but he/she should sign EA4xxx/EA8, or vice-versa.

Re: [Dx4win] Strange errors in ADIF export

2009-12-28 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello all.

About the strange errors in ADIF export, I made the following test:

1. I added TK0KP/SAN to my log. Dx4win (v8.03) tried to assign it to
Sweden, but I writed down TK in the prefix cell (I guess Dx4win created
an exception for this call).

2. I exported part of my log (i.e. only the TK QSOs) to ADIF.

3. I reviewed the ADIF file with the Notepad and I found the TK0KP/SAN
record, which had PFX:4SAN0 (bad prefix) and DXCC:3214, as it should be
expected.

I think Dx4win is exporting correctly the unusual calls, provided they were
assigned to the proper entity. Don't you think so?

Best season greeting...

Re: [Dx4win] Print bureau labels

2009-07-22 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello Hamad and the fellows...

I do have a question is there a way which I can print bureau labels for a
specific country? I do have more than 2000 bureau labels to print, and to
print them all together will take very long time (i'm printing directly
on the qsl card) so i thought it will be better if i can specify a
country to print for. any Idea?

There may be a simpler way, but this one worked for me:

1) Make a backup of your log.
2) Filter your log on what you want (a country, Label=Y, etc.).
3) Export the filtered log to DX4WIN6.
4) Create a new log and import the DX4WIN log just exported. This new
log only has the QSO exported (ie. filtered by a country, Label=Y,
   etc.).
5) Print the QSL labels from this log. After that, you may discard this
   log.
6) Re-load the original log.
7) Filter the log again with the same criteria used in step 2) above.
8) Select QSO Multiple QSO Operations Set QSL Date, and put the desired
   QSL date.
9) Save the log.

I hope you will find this useful...

The following was posted on CQ Contest by CT1BOH, Jose.

Anacom, the Portuguese local regulatory agency for the amateur radio
service, has published new legislation. There is a part in the
legislation that will impact the callsign structure of Portuguese
(Portugal, Madeira and the Azores) callsigns.

Starting next June 1st, this will be the prefix block allocated to each
area: Each area will have four blocs (old calls under old legislation,
new calls under new legislation, club calls and special calls)

 Portugal
 Block 1. CT1, CT2, CT4, CT5
 Block 2. CR7, CS7, CT7
 Block 3. CQ0, CS5
 Block 4. CQ7, CR5, CR6, CS2

 Madeira
 Block 1. CT3
 Block 2. CR9, CS9, CT9
 Block 3. CQ2, CS3
 Block 4. CQ3, CQ9, CR3

 Azores
 Block 1. CU1, CU2, CU3, CU4, CU5, CU6, CU7, CU8, CU9, CU0
 Block 2. CR8, CS8, CT8
 Block 3. CQ1, CS4
 Block 4. CQ8, CR1, CR2

 Notes
 Callsigns from block 1. (CT1, CT2, CT4, CT5. CT3, CU#) will no longer be
issued. Current hams will keep these calls if they like or submit to a
new exam to have the new prefixes (CR, CS, CT, 7,8,or 9)

New hams will have block 2. and will be issued prefixes according to
category. Category 1 will have CT 7,8 or 9, category 2 will have CS 7,8
 or 9 and category 3 will have CR# 7,8 or 9

 Club stations will have call in block 3 (CQ0, CS5, CQ2, CS3, CQ1, CS4)
Special occasion and contest calls will have block 4 (CQ7, CR5, CR6. CS2,
 CQ3, CQ9, CR3, CQ8, CR1, CR2)

 Clue for contesters:
 Portugal
 No new prefixes. Several lost

 Madeira:
 One new prefix CQ2

 Azores
 New prefexis - CR8, CS8, CT8, CQ1, CS4, CQ8, CR1, CR2

Re: [Dx4win] Printing QSLs with Alternate Call (Different from Licensed Call)

2009-03-03 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi, Joe and the fellows...

I have already declared the IT9/K2XX QSOs as a separate group and
imported them into a separate log. Normally when a QSL label is
printed, it starts the label with K2XX confirming QSO with and then
the call of the recipient station is inserted. What I would like to do
is replace K2XX with IT9/K2XX in the preceding phrase. Changing the
greeting menu entries doesn't affect this phrase. Or am I missing
 something?

I think Dx4win only prints the other's callsign, not our callsign. The
only method I know is putting it in the group name. I'd also like the

Re: [Dx4win] World Map

2009-01-26 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi Mike, and the fellows in the reflector...

Strange problem and I'll bet there is a solution so simple I can't
see it. When I bring up DX4WIN, the world map comes up but the
time stays frozen and the day/night line does not move. If I close it
and reopen it, it will have the correct time at that instant but it stays
frozen. I checked the help file but didn't see a fix or solution. What
did I miss or did some file get corrupted and I need to re-install the
 program. Thanks for any help.

 73, Mike WA5POK

Try checking the Options Update Day and Night in the Map window.

Re: [Dx4win] Reassociation of DXL files -Help

2009-01-20 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello Paul, and the fellows...

I accidentally mis-associated the extension of the DX4Win DXL files
somehow (don't know how but some late night befoogle I guess) and I
cannot get the filename.DXL to be directly associated again with
 DX4WIN.

You may right-click on the .dxl file, then select Open with (if this is
one of the options), and then, if the DX4WIN is not among the programs
which can open the file, select Browse and navigate to where DX4WIN is
installed. Select dx4win.exe and click on Always open with this program.

I use Windows XP in Spanish, and I am not sure about its English dialogues.

This is the easy method, but if you don't get the Open with option when
right-clicking, then the procedure is a bit more complex... Please ask for
help from a local friend (sri).

I hope this will be useful...

I can copy from a back-up directory, but only want to copy the relevant

Yes! You only have to copy the dx4win.iep file from your backup save

One example is that I want to clear QSL Date fields that are older than

The Range option does not appear to work on QSL date or the QSO. There
is no prompt. I could have used that one instead.

Re: [Dx4win] Freq doesn't change properly when clicking a spot.

2008-12-11 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hi all...

DX4WIN 7.06 doesn't change mode on my FT-897D. I am using a home-modified
rig file. I checked with the original rig file for the FT-897 and it
doesn't work too.

The frequency is set correctly (no offset), but the radio behaves like if I
had checked Ignore mode in real time. I tested both (Ignore and
non-ignore) with no success.

I am going back to release 7.05...

By the way, I am still waiting for a way to set split frequencies properly
on the FT-897... :(

Re: [Dx4win] HELP - Multiple QSOs on one QSL label

2008-11-25 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hello Dick and all the fellows...

Help.? I've read and re-read the User's Guide and I've diddled all
theparameters I could to get two QSOs (with same station) on one QSL
label.? I've also searched the Archives without success.? Can anyone tell
me how to trigger it?

I've tried MAX QSO at 0, 1 and 2, but I get the exact same results -
separate labels for each QSO.

I use 25.4x70 mm labels (A4 sheets with 11x3 labels, APLI 01270) and I get
3 QSO per label. My setup is as follows:

Label name: Custom1
Units: mm
Label width: 70.00
Label height:25.40
Nr across: 3
Nr down: 11
Horz pitch: 70.00
Vert pitch: 25.40
Paper size: A4
Spacing left:0.00
Spacing top: 8.50
Horz shift: 3.00
Vert shift: 0.50
Max QSOs:0
Portrait:checked
Callsign font: Andale Mono (normal, size 12)
Body font: Arial (normal, size 8)
Commercial: unchecked
Use lines: checked
Call right aligned: unchecked

Remember that, if you have two QSOs with the same station, one already
confirmed and the other still unconfirmed, Dx4win will print two labels,
one with Thanks QSL and the other with Please QSL.

I hope this will be useful...

Re: [Dx4win] Help file problems

2008-10-24 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hello all...

Double click on the Windows START button to open the listing of programs
and file in your computer. Find DX4WIN and double click to open folder
listing. Double click on DOCs to open the folder. Double click on
helpfile.pdf and the HELP file will open. You can make shortcut to the
file if you wish or just find helpfile.pdf to open.

The helpfile.pdf IS NOT the helpfile, but a printable version of the help,
if you want to make a book from it. The actual help file is dx4win.chm in
the dx4win's main folder.

I have not the problem described by several users, but I had it with the
previous release. I suggest to right click on every shortcuts used to
start Dx4win. Click on Properties and make sure the start on box
points to THE SAME folder where dx4win.exe (and dx4win.chm) resides.

By the way: if you start dx4win by simply clicking on a .dxl file (e.g.
yourcall.dxl file), you probably will be unable to access the help. You
have to start dx4win with the shortcut, or directly clicking on dx4win.exe.

Re: [Dx4win] Label Questions

2008-07-13 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hi John, and the fellows...

1. I wanted to only print those labels which meet the selection of
Confirmed=Y and Label=Y. When I tried to print labels, it would not take
the selection - it wanted to print all of them. So, I created a new file
using DX4WIN export version 6.01 and later, the latest export filter I
have (I'm running V7.03). The file it created had a DXQ extension, not
DXL, so couldn't be opened. Or, should I have used the import function?

Yes, you have to re-import from the DXQ file. But it will not help...

2. So, I created an ADIF file instead, created a new DXL file and
imported that. I had my 144 QSOs OK, although the Label field lost the
Y's. I used that file to print the labels I needed OK.

3. Now I need to use the Multiple QSO function to place today's date in
the 144 selected ones in the real file. Whoops, it uses the QSO date.???
What did I do wrong there? I guess I'll have no trouble resetting the
print flag, but I need a good date. And, I could import them, replacing
the originals, but I think that ADIF fails to carry along much needed
fields, like Checked, etc., so can't do that.

I just went back and created a new blank file, and imported the Version 6
file. Now I see all of the fields OK, but every record now says,
Invalid(DX). The preferences are OK and I re-imported them just in
case.

It is a bug in the v7.04 DX4win.

Where do I go from here?

1. First of all: make a backup copy of your original .dxl files (if you
didn't it before). Then...

2. Go back to your original log file (before your step 1) and change the
QSL method of the QSOs you want to make a label (or that of the QSOs you
don't want to make a label, whatever it is easier), to an unused method
(for example $$$). You may use the multiple QSO function (after filtering
QSOs with Label=y, Cfm=n).

3. Print the labels ONLY for the method(s) you want. You might have to
print in several steps (one for Bureau, another for Direct, etc.), setting
the QSL date every time.

4. Finally, restore the QSL method you changed in step 2.

I hope this help...

Is the bug that the date used is the wrong date, or that all records in

[Dx4win] .rig file for FT-897D

2008-05-22 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hello all. I installed DX4WIN v7.04.04 in my Windows XP machine without
any problem. It seems to work ok, but the .rig file for Yaesu FT-897 is
the same one packed with the previous release, so I replaced it with my own
modified .rig (ft897d_1.rig). Now I discovered a little error in my
modified .rig file: When I set the radio to CWR, the software reads SSB.
I corrected it (I think so...) and I renamed it as ft897d_2.rig. It is

think the problem is with the Hamcall new .dll.

[Dx4win] Global label change

 It's a known bug in 7.03.

Go to Labels - Set Print Flags

This will set the label flag for all QSOs, so you might have to create a
filter for the new QSOs you just added.

[Dx4win] A strange Bug continues

2008-03-16 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi all...

Per AD1C's suggestion, I've reloaded the latest .cty file
(twice) and find no change in how the program handles
the entry of any W5Axx call. It still instantly shuts down
at the A keystroke. If I enter W5xx and backspace to
insert A the entry is accepted.

If I make the same entry on another of my computer's
(a laptop, the program accepts the entry as it should.

If any of you are so inclined, please make a test entry
for W5ADC and see if your log crashes.

 I'm using 7.02.15, BTW

Checked here. No crash at all. It seems as if you had some key-logger...

[Dx4win] Re: Lost QSO's

2008-02-19 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi all...

Well, a power failure is only one cause of lost QSO's.
As I learned a few weeks ago, Bill Gates' infernal device will do it too,
when it downloads a 'patch' and reboots twice during the night, over
writing the temporary file that holds your 'automatically saved' Q's that
you forgot to actually (Alt-S) save.

Why automatically download patches? I let my computer to advice me that
there is a new patch, and I decide when to download and install it (after
saving everything). I like to have control over my machine, not be
controlled by it ;)

[Dx4win] Proper way to log MM

2008-02-04 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi Dick, and the fellows...

Earlier this week I worked a friend of mine who was operating maritime
mobile on the high seas between New Zealand and Tahiti. I know I can't
claim it for DXCC credit, but how should I log it into D4W so it doesn't
confuse any of the D4W databases since I don't have a Country Prefix for
 it??

No problem. Log it as usual (with /mm) and the DX4WIN will ignore that QSO
for DXCC purposes.

I remember DXBASE had a list-type export. Someone could write a program to

Hello Dave, and the Reflector...

 That's strange.

As reported earlier, I could create the new country; but I cannot enter

[Dx4win] Saint Barthelemy Info

2007-12-20 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello Natale, and the Reflector...

I have updated with new Country FJ, everything seems okbut when I
enter a prefix FJ he will show as Country FRANCE.

It seems you deleted the FJ mapping prefix for both St. Martin and St.
Barthelemy. Check this:

1) Go to St. Martin's mapping list and be sure there is an FJ prefix which
ends on 14/12/07. Click on Mapping Update to save the change.

2) Go to St. Barthelemy's mapping list (I think you already created the new
entity) and be sure there is an FJ prefix which starts on 14/12/07. Click
on Mapping Update to save the change.

3) Exit saving the changes.

You should now be able to log an FJ callsign under St. Barthelemy (if the
QSO's date is on 14/12/07 or after), or under St. Martin (if the QSO's date
is before 14/12/07).

I hope this will help...

P.S.: I think the end date and start date may be the same, because the
end date means in fact the QSOs before that date.

By the way, you may click on the File Check for errors to check if
there is any error (usually an overlapping error).

Happy Holidays...

[Dx4win] Multiple QSOs on a label

2007-10-29 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi Ernie and the reflector...

I have a bug somewhere in my label printing set up.

When I go to print a label with, say, three QSOs, I cannot always get
DX4Win to accomplish the task.

As often as not, it will print out one QSO on one label. And, of course,
take three labels, and ostensibly three QSL cards, out of the system. Or
it will print two QSOs on one label, and one on the next. But not the
three QSOs on the same label.

Then, at a later time (and having closed DX4Win, and sometimes my
computer, down in the meantime) I will try the same exercise again, on
the self same QSOs, and all is well; that is, the three QSOs get printed
on the same label.

This same behaviour occurs over and over, completely randomly, and has
done for several years.

I have tried many, many combinations of changes to try to overcome the
problem, including complete downloads of software, etc etc but to no
avail.

Is anyone else suffering this problem, or is it only me.

I can/do get around the issue, if absolutely necessary, by exporting
relevant QSOs out of DX4Win into another program, where I print the
label perfectly every time, and life goes on.

But, ideally, DX4Win should do this - shouldn't it?

Can anyone out there offer advice?

Be sure EVERY QSO to be printed in one label has the same status:
confirmed or unconfirmed. Otherwise, a label will print the confirmed
QSO(s) (with the Thanks QSL text), and another label will print the
unconfirmed QSO(s) (with the Please QSL text).

I hope this will help...

By the way, I'm using version 7.03.16

[Dx4win] Cable interface

2006-12-26 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hola Josep. Felices fiestas...

 Hi guys..!

which kind of cable PC-to-radio do you use with DX4WIN..? Is it a normal
CAT cable..? I would like to try some PSK31 and RTTY from the program now
that I have it already configured.

ordenador (LINE IN). Posiblemente necesites alg?n circuito de adaptaci?n
entre ambos equipos, aunque yo uso los cables sin m?s y funcionan bien.

[Dx4win] Cable interface

2006-12-26 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi Jo, and the fellows in the reflector...

I also need the answer. Could someone be kind enough to translate this
into English, please? Tnx es 73 de Jo, YC0LOW

Sorry, I didn't think my message could be of general interest :) ... Here
is:

The cables you need depend on what do you want to do. To control the radio
with DX4Win, you need the proper CAT cable for your radio. To operate on
digital modes only, you need a shielded cable from the LINE OUT connector
on your PC to the TX audio input on the radio (preferably not the MIC
input, but some other for higher signal level), and another similar cable
from the RX audio output on the radio to the LINE IN connector on the PC.
You might need some adapting circuit between both equipments, but I use
only the cables with good results.

Best season greetings!

[Dx4win] Master call

2006-12-21 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hola Josep...

that correct..? I have it in the main dx4wim directory. Thanks help.

 Josep
 EA6BF

derecho y elige Convert.

2) Close the Import/Export window. Now inside the MasterLookup window,

OK, sports fans, here is the lasted update in the saga to get my IC-706MKIIG
talking to DX4WIN and WriteLog. I went home at lunch and changed some
settings in DX4WIN and on the 706, no cigar. Next I loaded the testing
software CIVTEST to test communications between the radio and the computer.
First I tested the CT-17 on COM4 and I could not communicate. Then I tested
the CT-17 on COM1 and the same results, no communications. I have one of
those cables made by the N9 in Arkansas and put it in line. First I tried
COM1 and it worked! Then I tried COM4 and it did not work. I only have
COM1 internal to my computer and then I have a ByteRunner Serial card with
COM ports 4 through 11 on a spider cable. I know COM8 is working because
that is how I key my Mark-V with the W5XD interface. So I moved the cable
back to COM1 and changed DX4WIN to COM1 and again, no cigar.

There are 8 settings for the second radio in DX4WIN and here are my
settings:

Type: ICOM 706
Address: 48
Baudrate: 9600
COM Port: 1
Poll Rate (ms): 5000
Max Tries: 6
DTR high: checked
RTS high: unchecked

I know that the rig talks to the computer when I use CIVTEST but it does not
work with DX4WIN. I need some configuration help at this point and then I
can figure out why COM4 does not work.

I think it is valuable information in a detail report but not in a

Hi Les,

I asked for this flag. I'm often going through contest logs trying
to find out whether I need to QSL a new prefix, for example. If I
see that the status for that prefix is W then I need to make a
label. If I find the status is L then I don't need to make another
one. I find it useful.

I don't understand what has to be added in. Let's take DXCC as an
example. The Totals column is all the entities you've ever
worked. The CnfTotal column to the right is all the entities
you've confirmed. These are the only two numbers you really need,
and there's no addition needed to get them.

[Dx4win] Another Custom Award Question (WAE CW)

2006-04-27 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi all...

In the WAE CW Award Full Listing the 6th entry is:
 4U/VICUN Vienna
I cannot find that prefix in the DX4WIN Prefix window.

That's because it isn't a DXCC country, it's only a country for the
purposes of this award. ARRL counts it as Austria, OE, but it's a
separate multiplier in CQ WW DX contest.

I included the OE prefix in the dx4win.awd, so I will be able to add the
4UxVIC QSOs to the WAE.

Sorry to hear that Garry.

As far as I know things DO get backed up. I.e. the modified meter doesn't
lie. And if DX4WIN crashes, you *should* get a prompt the next time you start
it, to try to recover the backup file.

There are 3 possible places to look for your missing QSOs:

   dx4win/save/NI6T.~XL
   dx4win/dx4win.dxb
   dx4win/dx4win.~xb

You must copy these to a file named something.DXL then open each one in turn
and see if you can find the missing QSOs. The file with the most bytes may
have them.

I started an app. note about DX4WIN and backups but it spiraled out of control
and I have not had the chance to edit it down.

most recent QSO--I don't know why I did not see it when it first opened.

Subject: Lost QSO

I had thought that DX4WIN autosaved, but recent events suggest otherwise.

I have had several entered QSO's go through the Modified sequence --and
then be lost when something rebooted Windows. The termination backup did not
save the QSO's. Is there an antidote, or must one manually save the log at
all times?

[Dx4win] Custom Award WAE-CW Problem

2006-04-26 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi to all...

Probably it will be necessary to change the 4J1 entry to R1MV in the
dx4win.awd file, so it matches to the countries database.

Which country file are you using, Joe? The prefix was changed to R1MV a
year or two ago. Maybe the program is hard-coded and still thinks the
 prefix should be 4J1.

DX4Win 7.01. I am making entries for the WAE CW award. The first two

Next is 4J1. I entered 4J1FS and found that in the Custom Award drop
down list in the QSO Window there is no WAE CW award to be selected.
That means that I am unable to proceed to the Value List to enter MVI.
 Thanks for any help.

I try to save it to a floppy the entire log file is saved.
What am I doing wrong?

Saving always saves the whole log.

What you want to do is EXPORT those parts of your log into DX4WIN#
format. Then you can make new .DXL files and import the .DXQ files.

[Dx4win] Configuring DX4WIN to work with QRZ.COM

2005-06-19 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hi Jim, and all the DX4win fellows...

Can someone please send me instructions or a screen shot showing how
to configure DX4WIN F3 callbook lookup key to work with QRZ.COM?

1) In the main menu go to File Preferences Ext Data
Website callsign lookup.

2) Mark the Enabled box.

3) Put http://www.qrz.com/ in the Callsign lookup address box.

4) Put http://www.qrz.com/callsign?qsl= in the QSL manager lookup address
box.

5) File Save changes and exit.

Now, when you have a callsign in the QSO log, hit F3 (The Callsign/Mgr
lookup windows will appear with the related info). Hit Enter and the
Internet browser will open with the QRZ.com page showing the QSL manager
data.

Note: If you invert the steps 3) and 4) (i.e. puting
http://www.qrz.com/callsign?qsl= in the Callsign lookup address box and
vice-versa), when you hit Enter after F3, You will get the QRZ.com page
showing the data for the callsign, not for the manager.

Dear users, I have the following problem.

F2 is set to mark as confirmed and put label field to Yes.
When I have more than one QSO with a station, but he sent me only a QSL for the
first
QSO, I use F2 to confirm that QSO and set label flag to 'Y'. The other QSOs
labels
are set to 'Y' by hand (with the mouse).
When I print the labels, the confirmed and non-confirmed QSOs with the same
station
are split up and printed on two different labels.

How can I group these QSOs in order to get them on the same label?

[Dx4win] Auto update QSO window from spots

2005-06-07 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández
Hello. Is there a way to avoid the QSO window being updated when receiving
spots? If no, there would be a nice feature to be able to enable/disable
the auto updating...

Best greetings...

Hi everybody,

I've a notebook HP Pavilion ze4805us, AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+,
256 MB RAM, Windows XP SP2 with latest updates.
Dx4win is version 7.01.

I can't run it under lower user rights like user or power user,
only as administrator :-(

When I try to run dx4win as power user I get this:

Please copy the driver: from blabla to blabla
The Appendix Files has more information about this

but the driver is there.

What I have to do if I want to run it as user or power user?

TIA

Andy,

I also use Ve7CC in conjunction with DX4WIN. My understanding is that what
ever you set up VE7CC to filter, i.e. in your case only to show 6m spots,
this is ignored by DX4WIN which continues to show all spots received. I
believe you need to make the filtering process within DX4WIN. I have not
done this as I don?t wish to make such a filter but I have seen these
comments made here in this reflector.
Not a complete answer but I hope of use??

GE all,
After reading recent mail and the good things being said about VE7CC
I
decided to try it out myself. I am impressed! I have it working FB as a
stand alone and also working thru DX4Win, however on the VE7CC dx window I
have it set to show only 6m spots. When I look at the DX4Win packet window
all the spots on all bands I have selected in set up are appearing.

Any ideas anybody?

My favorite is the VE7CC AR Cluster/DX Spider User program. It can be
downloaded at:

http://www.ve7cc.net/

Its very easy to setup to work with DX4WIN, and the details can be found at:

http://www.bcdxc.org/ve7cc/logging.htm

VE7CC's software can be configured to display only the spots you want, on
any band, from any continent, any cluster, any mode.

Connecting DX4WIN to the software is pretty easy.

1 - Start VE7CC and it will automatically connect to your favorite DX
cluster if configured to do so.
2 - Connect DX4WIN's internet function tolocal and data from VE7CC is
ported to DX4WIN.

I've used Fabio's DXTELNET for years, and it too is a great program.

Joe
