Is this a joke. Are they drinking coffee to stay awake in the domes now?

If anything is bound to interfere with those subtle level of awareness it's
coffee. That's what I was taught anyway. Obviously it's not an official TM
product but then David Lynch drinks it like it's going out of fashion. And
smokes like a chimney too! I look forward to the vedic coffin nails advert...

Shame on you MHJ. Om, First-Class Bull-Manure you Spread Wide and spread Thick

declare that it is. As we used to explain in the olde days, “Om no, TM is not a
'cult' like christian cults or the people's-temple may be; TM is way too
dis-organized to be that. . It's about meditation and the evident scientific
spiritual value of meditation”. MJ, there is something malevolent in what you
do to something that is so good in itself as what is simply transcending

BTW, regarding the double quotes, Bhairitu was the one who said "just kidding"
and "wound up" when he described his imaginary Starbuck's FFL get-together, and
I addressed my question to him (see below). "Expert" was quoting your
disdainful characterization of me as the "expert" on Robin. So those double
quotes were perfectly appropriate, and you're the hypocrite to object.

Just for fun, as part of my ongoing "one post in the morning challenging
Judy's projected image will keep her crazy all day long" campaign :-), let's
see who here is sharp enough to catch a LIE in one of Judy Stein's own posts
recently. Here's the first example (full context below):

 > Remember what Barry said about his therapist telling him that the person
 > suffering from NPD "makes it up as they go along"?

Does anyone see the LIE? Hint: it's two words -- "his therapist."

Anyone who has been following my posts knows that the psychiatrist whom I
cited as my mentor about Narcissistic Personality Disorder was my *friend*, not
my "therapist." Anyone who has paid attention for some time also knows that our
"sessions" were conducted over coffee at Downtown Subscription, our mutually
favorite coffee shop in Santa Fe, not in a therapist's office. Anyone with a
longer memory will remember me posting that I have only seen a real therapist
once in my life, back when I was 16 or 17, and my parents forced me to see him.
( That was a fun story in itself, because the guy was an asshole who was
actually served with a malpractice lawsuit while I was waiting in his office to
see him, and then acted like such an asshole in our session that I unloaded on
him, told him exactly what I thought of him, and who afterwards as a result
refused to ever see me again. That was the full extent of my personal
involvement with shrinks, from a patient POV. :-)

Yes, this is a little nitpick, but I think everyone here knows that this was
intentional on Judy's part. She, after all, is the one who comes roaring in
screaming about how someone is LYING when they misquote something she's said or
describe her in some way that varies in any degree from the way she describes
herself.

I don't think she left out the word "friend" in her sentence by accident. She
did it intentionally, to try to create the impression that Barry was "seeing a
therapist" to deal with his issues about Rama, MMY, and other NPD-afflicted
spiritual teachers. And if she claims that it *was* unintentional or an
accident, I think anyone here (plus her clients) should be wary of ever hiring
her as an "editor." There is a world of difference between "his therapist" and
"his therapist friend," and Judy was IMO *intentionally* trying to use the
phrase she thought would demonize her obsession Barry the most.

This is just one example of the type of LIEs that Judy Stein specializes in --
intentional putdowns and mischaracterizations that she can later deny or
hypocritically "explain away.". Take another recent example, when I pulled her
own nitpick number on her and chided her for claiming I had used the phrase "

[FairfieldLife] Beatles review from London Times, 1963

2014-02-14 Thread authfriend
It's by the senior music critic of the Times of London, December 1963. At the
time, the U.S. critics were almost exclusively writing unpleasantly scornful
dismissals.

Bhairitu will be able follow the technical music theory analysis; I sure can't!

The outstanding English composers of 1963 must seem to have been John Lennon
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/people/john-lennon/ and Paul McCartney
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/people/paul-mccartney/, the talented young
musicians from Liverpool http://leiterreports.typepad.com/features/liverpool/
whose songs have been sweeping the country since last Christmas, whether
performed by their own group, the Beatles, or by the numerous other teams of
English troubadours that they also supply with songs.

I am not concerned here with the social phenomenon of Beatlemania, which finds
expression in handbags, balloons and other articles bearing the likenesses of
the loved ones, or in the hysterical screaming of young girls whenever the
Beatle Quartet performs in public, but with the musical phenomenon. For several
decades, in fact since the decline of the music-hall, England has taken her
popular songs from the United States, either directly or by mimicry. But the
songs of Lennon and McCartney are distinctly indigenous in character, the most
imaginative and inventive examples of a style that has been developing on
Merseyside during the past few years. And there is a nice, rather flattering
irony in the news that the Beatles have now become prime favourites in America,
too.

The strength of character in pop songs seems, and quite understandably, to be
determined usually by the number of composers involved; when three or four
people are required to make the original tunesmith's work publicly presentable
it is unlikely to retain much individuality or to wear very well. The virtue of
the Beatles' repertory is that, apparently, they do it themselves; three of the
four are composers, they are versatile instrumentalists, and when they do
borrow a song from another repertory, their treatment is idiosyncratic - as
when Paul McCartney sings Till There Was You
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/songs/till-there-was-you/ from The Music Man,
a cool, easy, tasteful version of this ballad, quite without artificial
sentimentality.

Their noisy items are the ones that arouse teenagers' excitement. Glutinous
crooning is generally out of fashion these days, and even a songs about 'Misery
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/songs/misery/' sounds fundamentally quite
cheerful; the slow, sad song about 'This Boy
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/songs/this-boy/', which features prominently
in Beatle programmes, is expressively unusual for its lugubrious music, but
harmonically it is one of their most intriguing, with its chains of
pandiationic clusters, and the sentiment is acceptable because voiced cleanly
and crisply. But harmonic interest is typical of their quicker songs, too, and
one gets the impression that they think simultaneously of harmony and melody,
so firmly are the major tonic sevenths and ninths built into their tunes, and
the flat submediant key switches, so natural is the Aeolian cadence at the end
of Not A Second Time http://leiterreports.typepad.com/songs/not-a-second-time/
(the chord progression which ends Mahler's Song of the Earth).

Those submediant switches from C major into A flat major, and to a lesser
extent mediant ones (eg the octave ascent in the famous I Want To Hold Your
Hand http://leiterreports.typepad.com/songs/i-want-to-hold-your-hand/) are a
trademark of Lennon-McCartney songs - they do not figure much in other pop
repertories, or in the Beatles' arrangements of borrowed material - and show
signs of becoming a mannerism. The other trademark of their compositions is a
firm and purposeful bass line with a musical life of its own; how Lennon and
McCartney divide their creative responsibilites I have yet to discover, but it
is perhaps significant that Paul is the bass guitarist of the group. It may
also be significant that George Harrison
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/people/george-harrison/'s song Don't Bother Me
http://leiterreports.typepad.com/songs/dont-bother-me/ is harmonically a good
deal more primitive, though it is nicely enough presented.

I suppose it is the sheer loudness of the music that appeals to Beatle
admirers (there is something to be heard even through the squeals) and many
parents must have cursed the electric guitar's amplification this Christmas -
how fresh and euphonious the ordinary guitars sound in the Beatles' version of
Till There Was You - but parents who are still managing to survive the decibels
and, after copious repetition over several months, still deriving some musical
pleasure from the overhearing, do so because there is a good deal of variety -
oh, so welcome in pop music - about what they sing.

The autocratic but not by any means ungrammatical at

According to Weinberg, "If Hal Blaine had played drums only on the
Ronettes' "Be My Baby", his name would still be uttered with reverence and
respect for the power of his big beat." Rolling Stone magazine listed the

decades of work. Blaine is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,

The term "button-pusher" is frequently used to discredit an opposing
position in an argument. This can amount to an ad hominem argument; a
purported troll of this nature may actually hold an insightful but
controversial position that is generating controversy precisely because
it has successfully challenged entrenched opinions.

You probably don't even need a car over there - in fact, it would be a
problem. Over, here a car is just another tool for most people. Without
one, I'd be dead in the water. Some people who are rich probably drive cars
just for fun and pleasure, like my neighbor, who doesn't drive these cars
much - there just for shows.

I inherited the Eldorado from Mom. She bought it new off the show room
floor and it's been garaged it's whole life. She still had a driver's
license at age 86, but hadn't driven in about ten years. So, one day I just
took it - I'm using it for highway driving. I put some new tires on it and
 a new disc brakes.

You can't get anything these days for a car like that - maybe $1500.
The AC still works and it has cruise control. Also, it has a kick-ass Delco
Bose sound system with CD player inside. Sweet!

No. Barry and I have no private conversations. I have no knowledge of his

Namely that yagya's are a crock of shit and the TMO is keeping a bunch of kids

prayers in the vain hope of making their lives better. The Fairfielders also

According to my insider sources, there are about 5% of the older pundit
boys that came from Kerala that cannot read or write any Sanskrit and
cannot recite from memory a single phrase other than the bija mantra
they were given with the TM instruction. These men were given plane
tickets back to India where they got jobs doing computer IT work in
Kerala. There are no missing pundit boys in Vedic City. Go figure.

FYI:

A "pundit" in India must be able to recite the Vedas from memory in a
prescribed ritual based on prescriptions laid down in the Samhita for
the Agnihotra. Some pundits can also read, write, and understand
Sanskrit and they are permitted to place the designation 'shastri' after
their name. Some pundits also hold additional degrees such as M.A.,
Ph.D., etc. In addition, some pundits become priests or swamis, and lead
millions of Hindus all over the world.

It is doubtful that the pundit project will end anytime soon. In India
there are thousands of students attending MMY schools in India learning
how to be pundits. From what I've read in the Indian press, the TMO is
currently training thousands of pundits at Noida, at the Brahmastan of
India and at numerous Maharishi Vidya Mandirs all over the Punjab and Goa.

Apparently, MMY was one of the few people interested in establishing the
ancient art of Sanskrit recitation. According to The Times of India,
there are over 10,000 pundit students at Maharishi schools in India, all
learning how to recite the Vedas, while at the same time learning a
secular trade. It seems that MMY was almost single-handedly reviving the
lost art of punditry in India. Go figure.

So, how exactly does a network analyst like Edward Snowden get access to
top secret information stored at the NSA? Sure, as a contractor you get a
password so you can analyze the network, but you can only go so deep into
the servers without tapping the fiber optic at the data center itself in
Utah.

If any respondents here have read Kevin Mitnik's book about hacking, you
would already know it is through "social engineering" that most hackers get
at secret data. Social engineering is not complicated: first you simply ask
someone for their password.Or, you call them on the phone and trick them
into revealing their password. It's that simple. In Mitnick's case he posed
as a computer tech co-worker on the telephone. Once you get a password,
it's only a few small clicks to get at the root level of the server where
you can run a script of your own that changes everything and makes you the
invisible administrator.

Sound implausible that anyone would give just out their password? Go
figure.

security clearance for allowing former agency contractor Edward Snowden to
use his personal log-in credentials to access classified information,
according to an agency memo obtained by NBC News."

See what I mean about challenging her projected image driving her crazy?  :-)

What you should expect for the rest of the day -- if not week or month -- is an
avalanche of posts about what a liar Barry is.

This from the woman who *still* claims that Robin Carlsen wasn't lying about
striking his students, even after he admitted it on this forum, even after her
only supporter here (Ann) said that it probably happened at least once *at a
seminar* (refuting the dodge she used to claim he wasn't lying even after he
admitted it).

It's all a matter of "knowing" things, you see. Judy just "knows" who is lying
and who isn't. The same way she claims to "know" what everyone here was
'really' thinking when they posted something she doesn't like. So whenever
Robin said something about himself or about anyone else, he was always telling
the truth. Unless he was being "ironic," of course, or...uh...lying, as he was
about never striking any of his students, using phrases like "I would never do
that."

But whenever Barry says something, Judy "knows" that I'm lying.

The thing Judy is ignoring in all of her tirades -- and will continue to
ignore, I'm fairly sure -- is that NO ONE is rushing to her defense. So far,
not even Ann, who probably has her tongue stuck up Judy's butt and has been
unable to post yet today. :-)

NO ONE believes her "I don't lie" horseshit. NO ONE.

Obviously, not even her, since she refuses to even *address* getting caught in
one of these lies, except to try to turn it into a "challenge" that she knows I
will never respond to.

What a loon. And a thoroughly dishonest loon, to boot...

[FairfieldLife] RE: Test: Can you spot the LIEs in this Judy Stein post?

2014-02-14 Thread authfriend
Oh, and Barry did say (I quoted it) that what he dishonesty called Robin's
"12,000-word post" was "ranting," so "12,000-word rant" was hardly a
"pretzeling move." That's how I remembered what he said, but I didn't go check
to make sure. Now, please explain how you think "12,000-word rant," given what
I quoted from Barry's post, changes the meaning of what he said.

<< As far as the 12,000 word deal, I really wasn't following that too closely,
but I did not notice that funny pretzeling move a few days ago wr to this. As
pretzeling moves go, it was not that elegant So, yes, at least a strong
waffling sanction there.

I think it shows that Xeno's Theorem has held up once again, i.e., that none
of us are as unflinchingly honest and truthful as we think we are, and none of
us hasn't stretched the truth to some extent, maybe even quite a bit more than
we think. >>

Take another recent example, when I pulled her
own nitpick number on her and chided her for claiming I had used the phrase "a
12,000 word rant" w.r.t. Robin when I hadn't. Called on this, she made excuses
and *admitted* to conflating several different descriptions and making up the
phrase, and then tried to imply it was No Big Deal.

Ahem. If the Yahoo Search engine still worked properly (alas, I have now also
been "Neo-d" myself, so it doesn't work for me any more, either), I and
everyone else could easily come up with DOZENS of instances over the years in
which Judy Stein went batshit crazy over someone "misattributing" something
she'd said by putting it in double quotes. In fact, she is on record here
several times as saying that the practice of putting things in double quotes
almost by definition implies that the person doing this is quoting the source
verbatim. I'm sure that Share and others will remember Judy pulling this on
them, and accusing them of lying or worse because something they put in double
quotes and attributed to her were slightly off. But somehow when *she* does it,
it's OK, and No Big Thing.

*Just in this post* she does the same thing several times. Neither Steve nor
Xeno used the words "kidding" or "just kidding" or suggested that I had said I
was an "expert" on Judy Stein (I haven't). No one used the phrase "wound up."
Yet Judy feels no problem with citing them as di

Since when has Barry ever retracted or even acknowledged any of his lies about
me? Double standards, much?

 Point of Order Madame Speaker!

Would not unflinching honesty require a response to what appears to be a
breach of this assertion, without conditions!!?

Seems a contradiction, otherwise, to this lay person.

 2. Judy has never lied about me (or anybody else), but I've told hundreds of

 3. I have NO IDEA whether Judy has ever met Robin, and I should not have

I humbly apologize to Judy for all the above.

Clear all this foul air, and then we'll talk, you lying hypocritical scumbag.

What makes you believe he's telling the truth about the nature of his
relationship with the therapist? If he had been in therapy with the guy, do you
really think he'd admit it? Given his well-documented penchant for lying, I
think we should be very suspicious. Note that his whole reason for mentioning
the therapist was to demonize Robin. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's
been parroting the therapist's description of Barry's own NPD, the "makes it up
as he goes along" part in particular. Nor would I be surprised if Barry's way
of dealing with his NPD has been to project it onto his teachers and others
whom he doesn't like. It isn't me, it's THEM! (Maybe the therapist gave up on
treating NPD patients because he couldn't get anywhere with Barry.) Makes at
least as much sense as the ridiculous crap he says about me (and Robin, and
Ann, and others he doesn't like).

I noticed the misrepresentation about the therapist, but it was so obvious,
that I thought she might have meant it as a joke. On the other hand, she
doesn't often joke like that. On that same hand, she often indicates that its
important to clarify certain points for newcomers, and we have some here who
may still be in that category. So, we're gonna have to put that in the
"misrepresentation" column. Judge's ruling is final.

As far as the 12,000 word deal, I really wasn't following that too closely,
but I did not notice that funny pretzeling move a few days ago wr to this. As
pretzeling moves go, it was not that elegant So, yes, at least a strong
