Re: Fiskars and Cdn Fjord Owners
This message is from: Cheryl Beillard [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yes Sue .. there ARE lots of Cdn fjord owners on this list .. and I, for one, managed to find a pair of fiscar scissors in the office supply section of Walmart .. I think that you might try Cdn Tire too? I found they work well but didn't discover any really spectacular differences between them and the several other brands I tried. Some of those manes are just so tough to cut. By the way, where are you located in Cda? I'm in the upper Ottawa Valley. And on the subject of names -- if and when my mare foals -- 7-8 days and counting? and if we have a filly filly she's going to be called .. get this Valley Girl! Mike are you listening/reading? Did any of you out there who actually live in the real Val halla think of this?? If not, it's mine!! And in future years, even if it's not a v year. My sister-in-law thought of it and I think it's great .. not that many V names out there that aren't taken!

This message is from: Alison Bakken [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Sue, Yes there are other Canadian Fjord owners out here. I own 9 Fjords, a stallion, four mares, a gelding and three yearling fillies at the moment. I live north west of Sundre Alberta, in the foothills. Where are you located at? Have a good spring, Alison

Re: Spring P.N.F.P.G. Meeting Confirmations
This message is from: GAIL RUSSELL [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Kathleen, I *think* I need to make a reservation for a single. Don't mind sharing a room with a female - or male either for that matter as long as there are two beds- I'm too old to care at this point. Only glitch is I ma still awaiting word from Brian Jensen about whether we can put everything together to take Romulus back as part of the deal. I should know tonight for sure. Current plan is to pick up a Fjord from Catherine Lassesen in Pendleton, then drive to Pearson's to board the horse overnight, then go to the meeting. It looks like Pearson's are about 32 minutes north of the meeting site. Unless they want me to stay around there to look after the horse, I will need a place to stay - and the Quality Inn sounds good. So... Can you add me to your list? Sorry it took so long - been trying to arrange complicated logistics. Gail At 10:18 PM 4/5/2000 -0700, you wrote: This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (James Rollins) Hello everyone! Please be sure to call or e-mail me your confirmations about either the dinner and/ or the meeting by the seventh of April. I must get this info to the hotel by then. This is especially important for those of you who will be staying at the valley suites and taking advantage of the price they have given us for overnight for two with breakfast included. The price and accomodations cannot be guaranteed after that. The dinner reservations I need by no later than the 15th. Looking forward to seeing you all. Only I can add extra pedigree's I am afraid. This is actually a copy of the info in the NFHR database you are looking at. I will add pedigree's if you wish but I will need a copy of their official papers. I already have a link to the CFHA on the Links page. If a horse has pictures uploaded they will show a little camera icon to the left of the horses name in the list of horses. Try putting in Albrough or May for the name of the owner and then hit search. You will see a couple of horses with the camera next to them. Since this only went online today there are only a couple of horses that have pictures yet. If you want the password to upload pictures for yours send me an email requesting a password. Just some ideasbut it is great the way it is! Glad you like it. I also forgot in my original message to ask everyone to check all of their horses for any mistakes that might be in the database. Look them over check for color, sire, dam, correct owners/breeders names, sex, microchip numbers, tattoo's, brands etc. If you find any mistakes let me know and I will correct them. This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (James Rollins) Cornerstone Fjords is proud to announce the arrival of Cornerstone's Ekko born at 10:40pm last night. Ekko is a large dark brown dun filly with a distinct dorsal stripe and dark mocha colored face. She is out of our mare Agneta, (Gjest daughter), and by Samstein, (Sambar son, owned by Brian Jensen of Trinity Fjords). Agneta was due to foal on March 22! This fine filly was well worth the wait and long nights sleeping in the barn. Now caretaker Kathy is hoping between checks on the girls to get in a nap or twoHappy foaling to everyone awaiting their spring arrivals! These little ones are such blessings and treasures from the Lord! Kathleen Rollins, Deer Park, WA.

Information on the Stallion Ring-NS009-S
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Claudia Galup) Afriend of mine in South Carolina was given a Fjord mare named Sophie because the owners could no longer keep her due to a move. My friend knows that Ring is her sire and the breeder/owner(?) was Jacques Lasseau in East Deerfield , Mass. Sophie is used for riding and driving lessons and has been a real godsend due to the death of another training horse. She's also just a great horse with a wonderful temperament and work ethic. She has a beautiful extended trot and loves to go. My friend, Barbie, having developed a deepened appreciation for the breed, would love to know something about Ring. Can anyone outthere help? We'd love to hear from anyone who knows about him. You can e-mail me privately unless the information might be of interest to the List in general. Thanks! claudia

Uffda

It is just IN YOUR BLOOD and you know what in means, but cannot explain it. World Show
This message is from: Janne Myrdal [EMAIL PROTECTED] Great to bring up new ideas, Catherine. I think a World show would be a great idea, not only for us Fjordies, but to attract non Fjord people as well, great promo. But, oh my what a job to organize!! Obviously for us who live in the US, a show 3 day show here would be great. But being Norwegian, I know there may be an element of non approval by the Europeans if a WORLD show is held in the US. (Ask Rune what he thinks??) MAybe another name?? #2 I wanted to throw this point out there as well, for those of us who live and work farms, the dates of Blue Earth and Libby are almost impossible to work in due to work. NOT knocking them, I made it to one day at Blue Earth last year, great!! But I wonder if there would be a better date for the BIG show, if it comes about. Lets hear what the general Fjord population would feel be a good time of year. Janne in ND, enjoying our cute 67 day old filly, but cannot find a fit name for her yet. Uffda.

World Show
This message is from: Jeri L Rieger [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am in agreement that I would rather see annual regional Fjord shows AT THIS TIME in the United States than a World or International Show. I think in the future, that this idea might be worth re-introducing. We need to further education in the states about the abilities, breeding and training of Fjords before branching out. I am one of those constantly training my trainer to reach beyond what is popular or perceived (sp?). Like another lister where wrong training concepts (neck reining and driving) are sometimes used, I have to tell my trainer - Try it, just because she is 1. young (6 years old ) 2. has different conformation than you are used to 3.hasn't done before isn't any reason to to ask it of her. She often is more willing than the Trainer! Let's increase the knowledge of our little horse world before taking on the World! Jeri in Missouri
**** New on the NFHR Web Site ****
This message is from: Mike May [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am very happy to announce that the new Pedigree Lookup feature is now up and running on the NFHR Web Site. Thanks go to our Education Committee member Lori Albrough of Capable Computing for the design of this new system. She put in an awful lot of hours on this as you will see when you try it out. Please take a moment of your time to go and check it out. I think you will all be interested in some of the things you will be able to look up with it. Here is the URL to it, or you can get it right from the main www.nfhr.com page: http://www.nfhr.com/ponyweb/ Just type in a horses name or part of it and hit begin search. You can put in lots of other requests to it also. Like if you want to know which stallions are in your state or province then put in your state/prov pick stallion under the gender. If you want a certain color stallion you can put in the color you want also. If you want to see the horse after you get the list of them just click on the horses name. It will bring up another screen with all of the horses info on it including a 5 generation pedigree. You can then click on any of the horses in the pedigree get their info a 5 generation pedigree on them. There is also a picture upload feature. If the owner of the horse would like to upload a picture of his/her horse they can do that. You can upload up to 3 pictures. Just click on the upload picture link. You will need a password to do it though. If you want a password you can request one from me from the upload screen. So try it out and let me Lori know what you think of it please. Mail can be sent to Lori's address from the Capable Computing link also on the opening Ponyweb screen. Enjoy!
