Re: [Audyssey] Park boss report.
Hi all Thomas is spot on here. The park report is not inaccurate, it just doesn't look at the human side of running a business. Also, you can pay the staff the suggested wages, they won't be happy but they won't strike unless you get more visitors. In terms of negotiation, all you have to do is adjust their pay. They'll go back to work and will let you know if the change is good enough. I've tried to make the staff expectations realistic. Entertainers are normally quite high paid, think actors and musicians. Maintenance staff are genera pretty well skilled and includes people like safety assesses as well as the engineers that keep your rides running. Ride operators are generally unskilled and quite often temps or students. Hope this clarifies things. Nick. > On 6 Oct 2014, at 03:04, Thomas Ward wrote: > > Hi Lori, > > Perhaps. Hi Lori, One way to help with keeping yourself out of the red is by slightly raising meal and snack prices. Meal and snack prices will be your main source of income so finding out how much your customers will pay will help as far as currency goes. Another way to help increase profit is find ways to get more customers such as paper and radio adds if you can afford them. Sometimes they will get you nothing and sometimes you may pull in an extra couple hundred customers per week. P.S. As for Steve Jobs he was the former CEO of Apple. However, he died a few months back. Hi, Thanks. The principle of negociation wasn't quite what was alluding me; it was simply how it was applied in the context of Park Boss. I'll have to try that and see what happens. Re: [Audyssey] Park boss report.
Hi Hayden, Depends on how popular your park is. Firing your entertainers may cause a drop in customer satisfaction and you may experience a few less customers, but I haven't noticed anything so bad I absolutely had to hire them back. If they wanted too much money I found I was better off without them than with them. My outgoing expenses went way down and I could afford some loss in customer sales. Re: [Audyssey] Park boss report.
Hi Lori, Perhaps. However, somehow I don't think that will change things much. The consultants only look at the bottom line, what financially would be best for your park, but totally exclude or overlook the human element in their suggestions. For example, if the consultants say your employees should only be paid 3 per hour it is technically correct based on your income, number of customers, etc but not necessarily something your employees would agree to. They may have expectations of earning a wage much higher than that like 8 or 9 per hour, and as the boss it is your job to try and negotiate a wage somewhere between what they want and what the consultants suggest would be financially feasible for your park. So firing the consultants would not do you much good since they are just going to give you the bare minimums when suggesting wages, ticket prices, etc. As long as you know in advance that their suggestions are going to be a little low you can try and increase ticket prices and wages by a couple of pounds over what they suggest to try and find the happy medium. Hi Desiree, I happen to agree with you. I think wages should be allowed to be in creased in smaller amounts than just pounds, and yes the UK does have change. They call their coins by different names than the US currency, but I think for simplicity sake Nick chose to round up or down to the nearest pound. Re: [Audyssey] Park boss report.
Hi, I think the concept is that if you raise the wage just a bit, say half of what they're asking for, that's negotiating. But I agree that this needs to be more well-defined in the documentation, or a feature should be added in which you talk to your employees and ask them what they want. It also occurs to me, now that I'm on this subject, that wages should be able to be increased in smaller increments than just a dollar more or less. Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not sure if this can be done in UK currency or not. Much as we have dollars and cents here in the US, are there smaller denominations than just pounds? I feel really silly even asking that, but there you have it. I am having the same problem putting out more than I am bringing in my entertainer seems to think he should get payed 18 dollars an hour. I had to fire one of them :). Hi Thomas, odd that the park reports are so unrelyable, those darned entertainers went on strike, wish I could sue them for neglect of duties. :) The strange thing is, even though I've encreased ticket prices, I still amen't making enough money to keep myself from going into overdraft. My ticket prices and snacks are set at fair, but I'm still paying out more than is coming in. It's really frustrating! Hi Lori, Well, if you haven't figured this out yet the Park Reports aren't always accurate. What I mean by that they tend to underestimate things like wages, and it is really up to you to find the perfect wage for your employees. If you try to give them the bare minimum, which is what the park report suggests, then of course they will strike. What I do is I try and pay the employees a pound or two more than the minimum wage suggestion which usually keeps them from striking. So if the park report says pay operators 3 per hour pay them 5 per hour just to be on the safe side. Same goes for toilets. I think it suggests one toilet per so many hundred people so if you aren't getting that many the park report tells you to remove it. Common sense, or logic, should tell you that you need at least one else people will complain and customer satisfaction will go down. So this is a case of use your common sense rather than listening to the park reports which aren't always accurate. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Park boss report.
Hi Desiree, For what it is worth I agree with you. I find the entertainers in Park Boss far too winy and demanding. They constantly want more and more money while they are nothing more than a side attraction. The attraction operators and the maintenance do the real work of keeping the park running and they only complain if I don't pay them a decent wage based on what the park takes in. I have fired my entertainers more than once if I thought they were being too greedy. Hi Desiree, Actually, if you think about it paying entertainers the most makes sense. It is that way in real life. If someone owns say a night club the highest paid people are the singers, musicians, comedians, and other performers who are there to entertain the club's guests.
The entertainers are always the most demanding. I have no clue why this is, as, logically, or in my opinion at least, they should be the ones getting paid the least amount. But it's good to keep in mind that the entertainers are going to demand pay raises much more frequently than the operators or maintenence staff. This is true. Sometimes, the reports tell you to lower your wages drastically, and if you do that, all your employees go on strike. Re: [Audyssey] Park boss report.
Actually, Charles, those reports generate rather low figures. Just ona whim, I did that for my first park one week, and subsequently every single employee in my park struck. So those numbers don't' really give a realistc report as to what to pay anyone, and that inludes ticket prices. I'm thinking that if you read the suggestions in the report, your answers might be in there. --- Be positive! When it comes to being defeated, if you think you're finished, you! really! are! finished! - Original Message - From: "Lori Duncan" To: Sent: Saturday, October 04, 2014 8:22 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Park boss report. Hi guys, here is my report for my recent game of Park Boss. I've tried paying my opperaters and maintenence staff 3 like it says to do, but I at once got an email threatening strike actiong, so I put the wages back up to 5. Perhaps someone could look at my report and tell me where I'm going wrong. What I'd like to see, if there is an update to Park Boss, is a way to send your park layout to someone, so they can see the order you've built things in, where they are placed, and so on, though I've no idea how easy or hard that'd be to code. Anyway, here is the report. Message from the Park Consultants: Here's our report. Given your visiter levels its suggested your entertainers should be payed 3 per hour. Given your visiter levels its suggested your park operators should be payed 3 per hour. Given your visiter levels its suggested your maintenance staff should be payed 3 per hour. The rides and attractions in the park have been assessed, the attractions have been given a draw factor of 20. use your park weekly report from the park stats you get to make sure all attractions are running. You have a good level of customer services for the number of guests you currently attract. Given your visiter numbers you should provide 0 toylets at your park, you currently have 1. given the current draw factor of your park we'd suggest setting your ticket price to around 7. also, consider a temporary drop in price to attract more visiters to make more money. Its suggested that a meal price of around 9 a quater of all your guests will have a meal at the park and a snack price of around 2 will cause around half of your guests to have a snack. I also don't have the options of building snack stands yet, though i have built a gift shop, and when I took the toilets away, I also got complaints.
