Re: [hlds] PTBx v1.7x1d3 Crashing srcds for windows
Right this should be my final post on this (thank God :-D ) I installed mattie's event scripts on the test server and guess what!!. It went 5 mins then crashed. So that confirms that mattie's event scripts is unstable, altho from my limited use, a good plugin. anyway time to get some sleep as the time here is 7am and i've been up for all of 20 hours now (is that dedication or what!!) Thanks for everyones help on this one. Dave Williams wrote: Thought I'd give you an update on my progress with this problem see if you have any more info to help me. I installed srcds on my own personal comp (as of now know as test server) and then installed ptb on to it to see if it would the crash the server. I didn't. Now remember at this point I've only downloaded srcds and the update that was released last night for it and then put ptb straight on top of that. I then installed mani, set it up exactly as I would normally and let the whole lot run for a lil with some bots and it worked fine. So on went steambans and zblock min 1.0 ab. Not a hitch. So I checked my pub server (this is the original problem server) was the same setup as the test server (damn well should be the test server uses the pub server configs) and set ptb up on the pub server and ran it. It took 2 mins for the pub server to crash and in that state it stays till my host wakes up :-( . I'm starting to think the problem is linked to either Mattie's event scripts (I run it to generate a menu for hlstatsx 1.01), hlstatsx itself (tho I don't know how) or small stats me min (again can't see how) that is causing my problems. I think it is most likely matties event scripts as I have heard that it is a lil unstable. Is that true? If so what's the problem with it? Also I'm not to sure if I need the menu for hlstatsx anyway. But I got the impression that it was a nessecary thing. Heres a link to the forum post http://www.hlstatsx.com/forum/index.php?topic=945.0. Re: [hlds] PTBx v1.7x1d3 Crashing srcds for windows
i was aware of the rcon probs in zblock but i thought i had the latest version. As for matties yes it was crashing the test server but when i removed it from the pub server it was still crashing. All the configs are the same so i'm guessing the host is either running something without my knowledge or a switch he is using. I'm gonna go had a chat with him now to see what it could be. p.s. cheers for the link Brian M Frain (eternal) wrote: -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] There is a more recent version of zblock 2.02 you might want to get. oh and i forgot one thing in my last post. I have a copy of the console output from the last pub server crash. i has 27 lines of missing shutdown fucntion for the first line then continues S_init : shutdown . If you would like i can send you the jpg. Also, slightly OT here, but what is the difference between zblock min and zblock max, well more accurately which extra cvars does zblock max restrict and is it worth running it on a pub server over zblock min. Also, slightly OT here, but what is the difference between zblock min and zblock max, well more accurately which extra cvars does zblock max restrict and is it worth running it on a pub server over zblock min. Brian M Frain (eternal) wrote: -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] There is a more recent version of zblock 2.02 you might want to get. The earlier versions made some exploits available where players could get rcon to your server. You can download that here http://zblock.eurocss.net/index.htm If you already knew this then I apologize, I just noticed the older version number in your post. I am suprised to hear that matties event scripts is crashing your server, I run it on mine with no problems but then again we don't use the same setup. I am not convinced that it is matties that is unstable but rather what people do with it that could cause problems. I use matties for about four different functions all warnings to people who do things like shoot hhe hostages, or when they get stuck, or general messages to explain things like important server rules. Good luck, hope you get everything sorted out, sounds like you are on the right track. Thanks for everyones help on this one. If it's not nessecary for it to run to get hlstatsx working i'll get rid coz we don't use it. More troubleshooting, research and help required I think. I know I'm a bit of a noob but hey unlike a lot of you guys I don't get paid for this, it's all for fun and I'm sat here typing at some ridiculous hour of the morn scratching my head. I know that config works, could it be something else in your setup? Did you put everything in the right place and make all the correct adjustments? Have you checked to see if the plug in is actually loading and running (if you can do this before it crashes). You can do these commands in console to get some general info * ptb displays the current statistics. ptb status displays the current configuration. ptb help displays all commands/variables. ptb on activates PTBx. ptb off deactivates PTBx. * On 4/19/06, Dave Williams [EMAIL

Re: [hlds] VAC not Enabling
Yeah, We've tried that. As well we have turned off everything that could possibly interfer with the VAC connection (fire wall... ect...) and it still didn't do Anything. We pinged the VAC Server (ip) as well and it didn't get anything, but when pinging it with a regular computer it worked just fine. Re: [hlds] Very large number of Connection Timed Out errors
When they time out it is datacache.dll (or something like this) .. This happens on my servers as well, and i had this problem untill i got a reserved slot for some people. [hlds] cvars
I have been attempting to understand the magic of cvars... It seems I can load several items in my various config files (ie: server.cfg, bot.cfg...) and if I query these items in the console they may report the values I loaded. However, when I query these items via cvarlist the values reported are always some number. There are so many conflicting listings of cvars for all of these games I am never entirely sure the cvars in a reference are actually for HL1:CZ. So, I guess the reason I am posting is to find out if the following assumptions are correct: 1) If I load an item in the console (item value) and then query the value with (item) and item returns with a value, the item is a valid item with a valid value. 2) RE 1: if the item does not return it is not an item. (It maybe a command, like: bot_add) 3) If an item takes a text value (like bot_difficulty?) cvarlist output of bot_difficulty will still be 0. If I am not asking the right questions, that would be good to know also. just change the mapcyclefile to a different one in the command line or in server.cfg, then you never need to worry about it. mapcyclefile mymaps.txt Put your custom mapcycle in mymaps.txt. - Original Message - From: Jason O.
