[hlds_linux] CS Source Server setup

2004-10-13 Thread Hans Mittenbacher
Hello all,

I want to setup a CS Source server (server is running I need to
configure it) and I was searching for some CSS stuff. Can anyone give
me a link to a good page about CSSource? Were I can find directives for
the server.cfg, perhaps an overview about plugins which are working with
CSSource (are the old (CS1.5) plugins working, like amx, metamod etc.?)
and stuff like that.

I found pages about Counterstrike but the stuff is always mixed up with
stuff from CS 1.5, so it is hard to decide which is the right stuff for
me now.

Thanks alot,
Hans

[hlds_linux] Cheatlike consolecommands

I found this in a forum today - havent testet it yet since i dont own cs:s by
now but it might be usefull.
Maybe there is some way to block these commands:

NOTE: Enter these commands in the console before you join a game.
Here are some commands that I have found and will be searching for in order to
give you guys the edge in your server.
mat_fullbright - Fullbright on any map
mat_normals 1 - Haven't fully tested, but makes players have spikes, my theory
is that if you increase the value, you increase the size of spikes. This cuts
your fps a lot.
mat_depthbias_normal 1 - XQZ Wallhack BABY!!!
mat_loadtextures 0 - No Sky!!!
mat_luxels 1 or 0 i forget which - overlays the map with a thick blue grid (no
wireframe)
mat_fillrate 1 or 0 i forget - Full Wireframes
mat_reversedepth 1 - Another XQZ wallhack
mat_depthbias_normal 2 - the same as 1 but weapons aren't see through, they
are just normal
(if it doesn work try making a game, type sv_cheats 1, then disconnect, then
put your commands in )

RE: [hlds_linux] Cheatlike consolecommands

2004-10-13 Thread McCormack, Chris
Past experience shows that the more people that know about it the quicker it tends to
get fixed.
I also disagree with the method as it places new demands on valve developers time when
it could be put on the TODO list, but it should probably be top of the list anyway
as it is built in hacks.

Cruel to be kind ? (it is them that make the money after all so don't be too put out
by it).

[hlds_linux] Web based server administration

2004-10-13 Thread Khnightazul
And visited the Web of its product and very I am interested, at the
moment I use the Control Panel plesk for the lodging Web and it seems to me
interesting to use his for gamehosting.
Desire a budget for 20 maquinas with 7 processes in each one of them,
mode of payment and way to fracionar the payment in case that it is
possible.
I have the following problems at the time of seeing its Web and demo
of the same one, him agradeceria that sent login and password to me to prove
since the Web it has errors. User demo login does not work Doubts that arise
to see the Web to me:
   1. - Not the this clear management system of pagos/cobros of the
clients and the system of activation and decontamination of accounts or
servants
  2. - In the users there is a discharge nor date of cancellation with
which not if activating a client by a period of 30 days is possible or no
algun system of automatico mail.

Reason why I see do not exist administrative aids nor experience in
the real management of the day to day of a company of games and that worries
to me.

Guys i know this is slighly OT

In a month or so we will be moving all or game servers on to a dedicated
 box,
hosted off site, we are considering running a few other halflife servers
 CS
 etc.

We are looking to admin the servers, ie Start Stop from a web front end,
i
know there are programs like gamecp about, but we are looking for a low
 cost
shareware or freeware system, can anyone recommend anything, we will be
running on a linux (fedora) box.

 Thanks

For a one time charge of $150, GameCP.com's control panel is an
 EXCELLENT solution. www.gamecp.com

You are wrong. Just type this commands in console before joining an internet
server (with sv_cheats 0 of course) and they will work.

Another nice work from Valve.

Welcome to the HLDS Mailing list, your local Brandpower, Helping you

mm, your English is a little hard to understand (no offence, I can't
speak any other languages so if I wrote a letter to a french list it'd
be far worse :P) so I'm going to try to re-word it, so it's a bit easier
to understand.

I visited the product (GameCP) website and I am very interested in it -
at the moment I use the plesk(wtf?) Control Panel for (something) and
this seems like an interesting alternative for gamehosting.
What I'd like is a (quote?) for 20 machines with 7 processes (servers,
etc) running on each one, a method to charge money (and I think he's
asking for some way to control the payment methods properly; ie:
dividing it between accounts, applying discounts/extra charges via
fractions/percentages or similar)
I have come across the following problems while viewing the website
(GameCP.com) and browsing through it's demo site:
- (nfi - someone sent their username/pass to him to check it out?) User
demo login is not functioning (incorrect password).
- There is insufficient information present on the page to clearly show
how to manage the creation and removal of clients and slave machines.
- Seems to be some issues with user termination and apparently doesn't
show the date of cancellation if the user doesn't activate something
within 30 days?
I find these things issues as I have not got any existing administrative
aids or experience in managing game servers so they worry me.
-
well, I think that's what he was trying to say. Sort of. I dunno,
maybe someone who's half french could do a better job there, I'm not
entirely sure about a few things so I can't help him out.
Recommendation to take this to a private email conversation if it's
moving more towards you purchasing something from them, no particular
reason to do so other then privacy :p

For all who need a gameserveradmin software, take a look at his one:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ispinterface/

completely free You can spend the 150$ on a webmaster who builds
a new design around it.

I can't understand why people pay 150$ for ONE machine. Not for
running counter-strike server only ;)

and there is no good reason for them to disclose the list - VAC up your

2004-10-13 Thread McCormack, Chris
The Navigation Mesh was built using a different version of this map.

As this is from the srchlds bootup and is shown on starting de_dust for cs:s. Does
this mean the version of de_dust we have been beta testing on is different to any
version that Valve are testing on ? ie is there going to be an updated de_dust
released ?

Just a thought.

[hlds_linux] The libc6 problem(?)

2004-10-13 Thread Madman
Hi!

I've heard things about cs:source vs libc6 2.2. I would like a final
confirmation about the fact(?) that cs:source would run only with 2.3.
Because in some forums, people say different things (some say It's the
problem, others think differently)

So?

Bye

they know we want the fix, but responding and acknowledging that the bug
exists would be room for articles to popup on websites with proof and
all the people who get their jollies from paying out VALVe would have a
field day :/
Much better off waiting till the fix is out then announcing it probably.
mmm, waiting...

Re: [hlds_linux] Web based server administration

2004-10-13 Thread admin

completely free You can spend the 150$ on a webmaster who builds a
 new design around it.

I can't understand why people pay 150$ for ONE machine. Not for
 running counter-strike server only ;)

I've looked at ispinterface in the past, before we started working on
GameCP and the downside to me is that its.. german, no 'real' website, no
demo, I cant even figure out how to get it to work!

I can understand why people pay $150 per machine :) A lot do, there are no
good panels out there that do everything, let alone manage your bills
clients and system stuff. GameCP is designed for GSP's to easily manage
their entire client base [of 200+ game servers]. $150 is cheap lol.
Compaird against any other [non free] panel $150 saves you thousands of
dollers a year.

[hlds_linux] [CS:SOURCE] Ports usage problems

2004-10-13 Thread DjoDjo
Hi,

I've lots of problems with srcds port binding.
I just found that a single srcds process had 3 UDP ports openned.

falcon:~# netstat -ap | grep 9660
tcp 0 0 falcon:27021 *:* LISTEN 9660/srcds_amd
udp 110352 0 falcon:27020 *:*9660/srcds_amd
udp 0 0 falcon:27021 *:*9660/srcds_amd
udp 0 0 falcon:27005 *:*9660/srcds_amd

The port option ont the HL command line is -port 27021.

Can anyone explain me why the port 27020 is used by the same process ?
Can we disable this?
And the port 27005 ?
I have another server on the port 27020, so that's a problem.

Second thing, when the asked port is in use, I dont want that the srcds
server automatically bind another free port. Is it possible ?
I can't find any benefit from this feature.
If the port 21 is in use, does an FTP server automatically use the port
22 ? :/

Thanks !

I'm not sure why port 27005 is bound. Traditionally this would be the
client port, so the server shouldn't be opening it. I don't know what the
27020 port is but it might be related to the built in HLTV? One of these
ports handles server queries though, I think.

The TCP port is rcon, of course.

[hlds_linux] ATI8500 wallhacks by default

I just loaded a fresh install of CSS on my roomates computer as he has a better vid
card then me. Im pretty sure its a ATI8500 I dont have many details. He is running
winxp pro. No hacks for sure as he is clueless about them.

I loaded the game up and started playing and noticed I can see lots of things through
walls. In office I can see the blood on walls, grafitti and all the papers and stuff
on desks right through the walls like an old WH. I can not see the players but I can
see the shadows at there feet so I pretty much had run of the map if I wanted.

Anyoen else see this?

You do not need any web-server on the 'slave' machines [game boxes], you
simply need ssh and the GameCP backend scripts [bash scripts] and it
will fully manage the machine. The 'slave' machines do not talk to the
'master' to help aid in security, other panels out there require
web-servers on their game boxes, what a joke.

RE: [hlds_linux] Re: Web based server administration

2004-10-13 Thread GameCP.com

If the software is only run on one box, im talking the main program that
controls the servers, then why should I pay a license fee for the drone
boxes that the program just creates an account and loads a game dir from
a skel dir to the clients home dir and sets it up.

So you want to pay $150 one time to control any number of machines for the
rest of your life, free?

If we were to do that GameCP would quickly go out of business, the maximum
we could make from every client is $150, we would need thousands of
clients every year to stay in business, sounds like a bad idea unless you
want another EXO.

The master machine is simple a one-stop control center for all your
machines, the slave machines are just as important as the master and give
you all the control you need. In my opinion they are worth the same.

The way he has it set
up I would have to at least purchase 2 licenses to try the product
reasonably. One for the webserver to run the prog and another for my
 server box.

GameCP is designed to allow you to easily run games on the server its
hosted from, the frontend uses little to no resources and will not affect
your games in any way. If your issue is the ability to test then you can
simply install the software onto a game machine or install games to your
web machine for testing, not a big deal to me or any client we have who
tested it out this way.

The default license should provide at least the ability to
use the scripts on 1 or 2 server boxes. Then provide extra server
licenses at a reduced rate. I know you like making money, hell I do too
lol, but theres a point you reach where your just ripping people off.

Like above if we did this GameCP would be closed. We are in this business
to make money, we are also in this business to last as long as my life is,
a good 70 more years, by charging a flat fee based on machine [and nothing
else] we make more money up front and more money in the long run,
something we need as a fairly new software company.

But $150 for the main prog and 2 server licenses then extra server
licenses at $50-100 a year or something. You might actually sell the
program to more people like me who run smaller co's. As for me,

We do sell a lot to 'smaller' companys like yourself, about half of our
clients run less then 5 machines, they have had no complaints paying up to
$150 per machine, its well worth their investment.

 I can do
the skel dir things manually and create an account for a customer in
about 10-15 min including changing their cfgs. Jailshell and give em ssh
and teach em how to restart the server. Not as secure as what you have
but its free and it works.

10-15mins, GameCP does it in 15 SECONDS, after the order form is finished
it will automatically setup the user after they order, you wont ever have
to setup a game server again, you cant do that by hand.

GameCP illiminates the need for a user to have ssh or ftp. While both are
fully supported [it even comes with a nice shell script to stop, start,
restart and query your server] they are not required, this saves you time
from training 'newb' clients on the 'basic' ssh stuff, I found while
running a GSP for nearly 3 years that training all new clients on how to
login to ssh, even ftp, became very annoying, providing custom
documentation I made myself didn't even help, they still came to me with
basic questions on how to do stuff. GameCP illimiates all of this hassle
as it manages nearly every aspect of the server the client needs to use.

Someone else also provided a link to a free
 cp from sourceforge too.

Hey if your happy with a free one, one you made or some other panel then
you don't need GameCP, no problem, not a big deal to me. I know there are
other panels out there and several free ones. They do nothing like GamecP
and never will, you can't get something for free like GameCP.

Some of our main competition charges either $8 per game server or $25 per
machine, were talking hundreds of dollers a month for even a small company
[5 servers or so], in a few months you could have owned GameCP even with
paying for each machine you host.

I've gone on to long.

Thanks.

I'd imagine that maybe the best approach for this kind of thing would be the
follow the usual exploit notification - send it to Valve directly first and give
them a week or so to make a fix, and let them know that you'll be making other
admins (and whoever else is on this list) aware after x date.
That at least gives Valve a chance to fix it before it becomes (more) public.
But at the same time, the exploit that we're talking about here was already
posted on a public forum, so it's not like it wasn't already (at least kinda)
public.

That is a good plan but this bug/cheat/exploit/whatever is already public. I
have ready it many many times. Hell it even was on my website that has a
small following.

I'd imagine that maybe the best approach for this kind of thing would be the
follow the usual exploit notification - send it to Valve directly first and
give
them a week or so to make a fix, and let them know that you'll be making
other
admins (and whoever else is on this list) aware after x date.

That at least gives Valve a chance to fix it before it becomes (more)
public.

But at the same time, the exploit that we're talking about here was already
posted on a public forum, so it's not like it wasn't already (at least
kinda)
public.

do u mean before someone decides to post it to a public mail list???

Could u imagine if I did that with the code that we wrote as a proof of
 exploit for the rcon bug??

Tested these tonight and they do indeed work on a internet server with
sv_cheats 0, its not nessesssary to change the client value att all
 for some of the command.

This needs to be address quickly before it spreads around.

old stuff snipped

you can set it to 1 on a client but it won't pay any attention since

The reason why i wrote this tread was because it seems to me that it is
possible to have sv_cheats set to 1 on the client even if the
 server is
set to sv_cheats 0. I'm sorry I cannot test that, but maybe anyone
 else can.

 hi,

well i guess you allready gave an explanation why these cheats are
 working...
sv_cheats 1 enables the build in methods for cheating...
any normal gameserver on the internet has sv_cheats 0...
so not one of your so called cheats will work ;-)

 c'Ya HEAD

I found this in a forum today - havent testet it yet since i dont own
 cs:s by
now but it might be usefull.
Maybe there is some way to block these commands:

NOTE: Enter these commands in the console before you join a game.
Here are some commands that I have found and will be searching for in
 order to
give you guys the edge in your server.
mat_fullbright - Fullbright on any map
mat_normals 1 - Haven't fully tested, but makes players have spikes,
 my
 theory
is that if you increase the value, you increase the size of spikes.
 This cuts
 your fps a lot.
 mat_depthbias_normal 1 - XQZ Wallhack BABY!!!
 mat_loadtextures 0 - No Sky!!!
mat_luxels 1 or 0 i forget which - overlays the map with a thick blue
 grid (no
 wireframe)
 mat_fillrate 1 or 0 i forget - Full Wireframes
 mat_reversedepth 1 - Another XQZ wallhack
 mat_depthbias_normal 2 - the same as 1 but weapons aren't see
 through, they
 are just normal
(if it doesn work try making a game, type sv_cheats 1, then
 disconnect, then
 put your commands in )
