Just asking for advice about Microsoft outlook mail office 2007 which
when leave the computer in sleep mode as when I turn on the computer again
and try to get outlook I just get a noise and a message to close Microsoft

Very interesting, I have Office 2007, and as already stated, Outlook does
have a menu bar,
but Word and Excel do not.
I don't use Outlook, so never knew about the menu bar, just figured it had
ribbons.
Thanks for everyone's responses.

I've tried mouse clicking on the name but I only get the system menu

Please help.

Hi Listers

When I read emails sometimes JAWS give me a message to say that outlook
hasn't downloaded pictures in this email, or something to that affect. Is
there a way to turn this message off? I'm running Outlook 2007.

Thanks in anticipation.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007

2008-08-31 Thread Diana Engle
After opening Outlook 2007, one of three things happens after I open the first
e-mail that I'd like to read and press the down arrow key to read through the
message text:

1. Everything works fine (but that's not why I'm writing)
2. The mail message and the application close. When I re-open Outlook, I hear a
messsage that an Outlook data file did not close properly and that data files
are being checked.
3. JAWS says only "blank" as I arrow through the message text. I either have to
route JAWS to PC (which I don't like) or I have to close and re-open the
application until JAWS decides to read properly.

I'm running JAWS 9.0.2169 on XP Home. Outlook 2007 is 12.0.6316.5000.

Thanks for any info.

2008-10-09 Thread Alex Stone
Having just upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007, I find the following problems
with jaws 10. Firstly, insert+a to open attachments doesn't seem to work.
The keystroke is listed in Keyboard manager but it doesn't seem to do
anything.
Secondly when editing a message, cursoring through words jaws does not
always seem to read the right letters.
Is this a jaws 10 problem, or an outlook 2007 problem?
Cheers

Hi all, how can I improve Outlook 2007 so that it works better with JAWS 10?
Only just upgraded to Office 2007 so haven't had much chance to play with
settings. I have to say the ribbons are very nice indeed and JAWS is
intuitive in how to use them. Anyway, that's beside the point. All help
would be greatly appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007-2010

2015-11-12 Thread wayne smith
Hello-I did manage to load JAWS 15 on the new computer. Narrator was a big
help but there were some issues with updates from MS and FS that took some
sighted help.

I am getting ready to load Outlook 2007 on the new machine and have 2
questions. Has anybody saved the created folders for Outlook emails to an
external device for transfer to a new machine and can JAWS handle all of
that? If you have done it can you give me the steps for saving the folders
and loading them into Outlook on the new machine?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Another thought, is Outlook 2010 easier, harder or the same for JAWS? I
have the disc for JAWS 16 but I Haven't used it because 15 is sufficient for
my older programs.

Open outlook;

Now I press the letter c=contact, and g=group,
I land in a edit field, so I type the name of the group,
Next I use the keystroke;
Alt+h=upper ribbon home tab,

Now I press,
C=contact,
M=member,

Now I see;

Hope this helps.

Not sure if it's the same in msOutlook2007.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 email

2011-01-06 Thread jack chen
Has anyone else experienced problems with Jaws and reading messages in
Outlook 2007?

I start reading and keep hearing Jaws announce tables and the cell that I'm
in. It got really annoying so I went into the verbosity settings and turned
off detection of tables off. This solved the problem, but it seems a bit
hacky. Does anyone else have a better solution?

Jack

2011-01-13 Thread John W. Carty
I'm using jaws 12 on two different machines. One machine has outlook 2007 and
the other is using outlook 2010.

I know the key strokes are different for each version but how do I view email
in the browser?

I need to know the keystrokes for each version of outlook.

thanx,

[JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 question

2009-12-17 Thread Shane Hecker
When I try to read a message in outlook 2007, sometimes jaws won't read it.
It will just read the top of the message where the pictures are. An example
of a message that jaws has problems with is at the bottom of this message. I
can't use the pc cursor to get past this. The only way is to use the jaws
cursor, go past the pictures and into the text, then click. Then jaws will
read the message. What's strange is when I check the status line. It will
read part of the text in the message. I tried resetting the views as per the
technical support bulletin but this doesn't help. Has anyone else had this
problem and if so, how did you fix it?

Shane
ps: Outlook express reads the message just fine. Running windows xp sp3.

 Cockroach on the Keyboard
 November 13th, 2009
 by Muriel Larson

Don't face life's unexpected challenges alone! Contact an online
mentor today to talk about faith, life, or whatever is on your mind.

As church pianist I started to play the introduction for the choir
during the morning service. After several measures, I glanced at the
keyboard and was so startled that I almost missed a beat. There, on middle
D, lay a stunned cockroach flailing its legs. Obviously it had run into the
path of my flying fingers.

What could I do? Gritting my teeth, I went on, gingerly trying to
avoid middle D, but not always able to do so. (The choir number would be in
the Key of D!) Finally, halfway through the first verse I was able to flick
the now-deceased roach onto the floor. (Well, that's one way to kill a
roach!)

Some problems we may face are not so easily resolved as a cockroach on
a keyboard. They might not be brushed off during the first phase of the
situation. We may have to live with them longer than the first verse. But I
have learned that if I just keep looking to the Lord for grace and trusting
Him with a problem, He takes care of it one way or another.

Sometimes as we pray, He shows us ways to make the situation easier,
as I did by avoiding the "middle" D while I played. Sometimes He shows us
how to deal with the situation, as I did by flicking that roach to the floor
during a whole note in the melody. (Thank heavens for piano "hold" foot
pedals!)

Then during or after the resolving of the problem, there's the
cleanup. After church I went to the rest room and washed my hands off using
liquid soap. But in dealing with life's problems, we may often need a more
comprehensive spiritual cleanup.

It may be necessary to ask the Lord to forgive us if we have sinned.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We may discover a need to
forgive any who have hurt us. "Be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32).

And let's never forget the One Who guided and helped us! Let's thank
and praise Him for His help and deliverance.

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures forever"
(Psalms 107:1)

Question: Are there problems you're facing that you haven't yet
brought to the Lord in prayer?

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 Signatures

2010-01-30 Thread Bill Tipton
Hello,

I have 2 questions about editing signatures in Outlook 2007.

1. How do you clear the contents of an existing signature in Outlook 2007 with
JAWS 10?
I have new text I want to copy into an existing signature. Currently I use the
backspace key to remove the contents, then paste in
my new text. I want a faster way to remove the contents, so I can paste in the
new contents.

2. Is there a hot key to jump to the signature text to edit, instead of tabbing
until I get to the edit field?
Thank you,

Bill

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 sluggishness

2010-04-30 Thread Shen Kuan
Hello,
Has anyone experienced the following issues with Jaws using Outlook
2007.
1. When I open a message to read, Jaws will pause and not respond for at
least 5 seconds before I can read the message.
2. When I open "Tools" and "Customize", Jaws completely stops speaking.
3. While composing a message, Jaws does not respond consistently when I
press the backspace key. Meaning that when I press backspace key
repeatedly, Jaws responds with a jitter. Sometimes it speaks the deleted
character immediately, sometimes it lagged a second before saying the
deleted character.

Has anyone encountered any of these issues and whether you have been
successful in resolving these issues?
I have the same problems using Jaws 10 or 11. And it doesn't matter
whether I'm reading an html or plain text message.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

2009-06-25 Thread Baracco, Andrew W
I am using it now, and using it to write this message. I do not like it
as much as 2003, but, as I define accessible, I would have to say that
at least the Email client is accessible, as that is all of it that I use
on a daily basis. But I don't like it. Office 2007 is a resource hog.
Programs take a long time to load, and I find just about all operations
to be slow. Even simple things like messages opening. And, because
Outlook 2007 uses Word as it's editor, messages will only read
automatically if you open them by using the ENTER key. If you are used
to deleting an open message with CONTROL-D, and expecting the next
message to start reading automatically, it ain't gonna happen. And it
doesn't matter which screen reader you use. And, I didn't even mention
the ribbons. They are accessible, and there are keyboard commands that
you can memorize that pretty much circumvent the ribbon. Also, there is
an add-on that you can buy for $30 that will give you a toolbar that
recreates the classic dropdown menus.

2009-06-25 Thread Gary
In Outlook 2007, I press F6 to move from the list view of messages to the
message body. JAWS reads the message automatically and I don't have to open
the message. After reading the message, I usually press F6 again to return
to the list of messages, then I hit the delete key which moves the focus to
the next message in the list. So, all I usually use are two keys: F6 and
Delete.

It's all done quite efficiently, IMO, and I really don't see how it could be
done much easier. Oh yeah, I read my messages in plain text, which may make
a difference.

I agree that Outlook 2007's dependence on Word does slow down some other
functions and it takes up more disk space than I'd like.

Hi Chris & all,

I know you're familiar with most of the settings below, but I'm putting them
here in case they help someone. I'm sure that more experienced JAWS users
than myself do things differently.

JAWS is set to read messages automatically.

F6 is the standard JAWS key to move from window to window, in many apps.

Reading Pane is set to "Bottom."

I have the Navigation Pane set to "Off" and use Control y to view and use
the list of folders (less clutter).

The To Do bar is set to "Off."

The Reminders window is not enabled...I don't remember why.

For a busy list, I set the Arrange By tab to "Conversation" so I can delete
groups of messages quickly if the subject does not interest me. Left Arrow
followed by delete.

Hello,

When focus is on a message with an attachment just press the application key
followed by the letter H. Focus will move to the attachments list. Use up
and down arrow keys if you have more than one attachment. Press enter key
to open the attachment. To save an attachment use Alt+F for the file menu
followed by the letter "N." This will put you in the list of attachments to
be saved.

 Take care.

Just press the alt key and locate the Format menu by using the left and right
arrows. Once there, press the up arrow until you find the option that says Rich
Text (HTML). Make sure this is checked. The plain text option should be just
below this option.

Do an alt t for tools and then the letter s for trust center.
You will have 3 options there. The first being automatic downloads. The
language is a little confusing, but you want, don't automatically download

Tab to OK.

there a way to turn this message off? I'm running Outlook 2007.

Hi,
I don't know if this is normal but when I read a status line in outlook 2007 it
says offline is this normal?
I think before it use to say no new messages or something to that affect. If
this is uncommon how do I fix the problem?
If it matters, I use gmail.

Turn off the reading pain, this has to be done in each folder, even when you

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007

2009-01-17 Thread Michael Hansen
Chris,

I don't know how to help you but I can tell you that--unfortunately--I am
experiencing the same types of problems. I downgraded to Outlook 2003 after
trying 2007 this summer but thought I'd try it again, so I installed it
yesterday on my new laptop. I'm still having the same types of
problems--slow, mainly.
What problems are you having?

Hi all, how can I improve Outlook 2007 so that it works better with JAWS 10?

Only just upgraded to Office 2007 so haven't had much chance to play with
settings. I have to say the ribbons are very nice indeed and JAWS is
intuitive in how to use them. Anyway, that's beside the point. All help
would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007

2009-01-17 Thread Chris Hallsworth
It just seems slow when it downloads e-mail. Also JAWS doesn't read messages
automatically even if the option to do so is enabled. It will, however read
messages automatically if I first close the message view and re-open it, but
what a time consuming process that would be! Hope this helps.

All help

It just seems slow when it downloads e-mail. Also JAWS doesn't read messages

automatically even if the option to do so is enabled. It will, however read
messages automatically if I first close the message view and re-open it, but

what a time consuming process that would be! Hope this helps.

While I don't like to see someone else having difficulties, I'm glad I'm not

I really wish the archives had a search feature; I would do a search for
Outlook 2007 and see how some of the pros are using it.

You just need to make a copy of your .pst file. The trouble is that I can't
tell you exactly where it is. I always seem to find it by trial and error.
Try doing a search for .pst files. Maybe someone else on here will remember
the exact path.

Ok, found where they are and I "think" this is the same as

Go to in a user account:

Once there, you will see a .pst folder for each IMAP account

Hope this helps.

Ann, if you have the copy of office 2007, why not uninstall your current office

Hi,
You can contact MS Accessibility and they will run the repair or reinstall
the program for you.
And also configure all the outlook settings for you.
At the same time, they can look your pc over and run their antivirus.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 help

2014-11-10 Thread John Justice
Ann,
You can create new rules easily when using the later versions of Outlook. I
am referring to the e-mail sorting capability. Other rules and alerts can
be created.

CREATING A RULE IN MICROSOFT OUTLOOK:
1. Focus on the message on which you would like to create a rule. I use
rules to divide the messages and send them to folders.

2. Press the Applications key or use Shift F10.

3. Down arrow until you hear "Create Rule" and press Enter on that option.

4. Outlook gives you several options you can use which includes simply
sending that particular message directly to a folder. To create a rule, tab
until you hear something like, "When I get messages from, - - - -" Edit that
information until you have only what you need to sort the message. For
example, "jaws-users-boun...@jaws-users.com" Further along in the same
dialog, is a checkbox indicating "Subject Contains". Using this option, you
can edit the information to look for specific contents in the Subject field
of any message. For example, I choose the name of the e-mail list and edit
the field so that only that information is shown.

5. Continue tabbing until you locate the checkbox indicating "Move To
Folder" and press spacebar to put a check there.

6. As soon as you check that option, you will be able to tab to a folder
list. Press Enter on the folder name you would like to use.
If you need to create a new folder, be sure to move up until you reach the
top of your list marked "Personal Folders". If you Shift Tab at that point,
you'll reach the "New" option. Press Enter and add the folder name when
prompted. In this way, your new folder will be a part of the main list, not
a sub-folder created within an existing folder.

7. The focus will be returned to the option marked "Move To Folder". Tab
carefully through and make sure that the correct folder is chosen. Tab to
Okay and press Enter. You may be asked if you'd like to apply the new rule
to already existing messages. Press Enter and the new rule will be applied
to the contents of your In Basket.

IMPORTED RULES:
There are rare occasions when a rule created in Outlook Express will work in
Outlook but in most cases, they do not.
One of the functions you will find in the Rules option is something called
"Manage Rules and Alerts". If you press Enter on this function, you will
eventually come to a list of rules. You can delete any of those old Outlook
rules here. You may need to use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons if
your list is extensive. When you press the Delete key, you will be asked to
confirm your choice.
In this section, you can also activate any or all of the rules you have
created manually.

MESSAGE CONTENT DISPLAYED:
The Outlook defaults will usually provide most of the information you are
looking for unless the View settings have been changed. Ann, be very
careful with these settings. It is possible to inadvertently create a
situation where your messages will not be read at all. There is a "Restore
To Default" option.
The condition of your screen will often determine how much information is
being shown. When you open Outlook, make sure that the display is set on
Full Screen, not Restored or one of the other options.
You mentioned the .pst file. That file stores your Outlook environment. It
contains a list of your folders and any other view options you may have
chosen. The file is updated every time you open and close Outlook. I
recommend that you do a file search and save a copy of the .pst file to
another location before making any changes in the View settings. In that
way, you can go back to the original by importing the .pst file you have
saved. That is a fallback for you if you run into trouble with the settings
in the View tab. The Import and Export options are located under the File
tab on your navigation ribbon.

I hope that this helps you, Ann. Someone else may have already answered
your questions.

 Cockroach on the Keyboard

Don't face life's unexpected challenges alone! Contact an online
mentor today to talk about faith, life, or whatever is on your mind.

As church pianist I started to play the introduction for the choir
during the morning service. After several measures, I glanced at the
keyboard and was so startled that I almost missed a beat. There, on middle
D, lay a stunned cockroach flailing its legs. Obviously it had run into
the path of my flying fingers.

What could I do? Gritting my teeth, I went on, gingerly trying to
avoid middle D, but not always able to do so. (The choir number would be
in the Key of D!) Finally, halfway through the first verse I was able to
flick the now-deceased roach onto the floor. (Well, that's one way to kill
a roach!)

Some problems we may face are not so easily resolved as a cockroach
on a keyboard. They might not be brushed off during the first phase of the
situation. We may have to live with them longer than the first verse. But
I have learned that if I just keep looking to the Lord for grace and
trusting Him with a problem, He takes care of it one way or another.

Sometimes as we pray, He shows us ways to make the situation easier,
as I did by avoiding the "middle" D while I played. Sometimes He shows us
how to deal with the situation, as I did by flicking that roach to the
floor during a whole note in the melody. (Thank heavens for piano "hold"
foot pedals!)

Then during or after the resolving of the problem, there's the
cleanup. After church I went to the rest room and washed my hands off
using liquid soap. But in dealing with life's problems, we may often need
a more comprehensive spiritual cleanup.

It may be necessary to ask the Lord to forgive us if we have sinned.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We may discover a need
to forgive any who have hurt us. "Be kind and compassionate to one
another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you"
(Ephesians 4:32).

2009-12-18 Thread Shane Hecker
I'm wondering what fs has to say about this. Do they plan on fixing these
problems? On a related note, what about windows live mail? It has several
features that are very similar to outlook. Does fs plan to fully support
this program? Reason I ask is because it sort of works (but not completely).
For example, you can move through the calendar, but it doesn't tell you if
there's an event at a particular time slot. You can create a new message,
but when you go to the message body, the computer starts going
ding-ding-ding-ding and going haywire. You can get to the folder list, but
the first letter navigation doesn't work. Same is true when you bring up a
link list (insert+f7).

Well, to clear out the text, just push control A, and then hit delete, as
for getting to the field to edit, the quickest way would be to shift tab 3
times, and you should be in the place to add the text.

Hello,

I have 2 questions about editing signatures in Outlook 2007.

1. How do you clear the contents of an existing signature in Outlook 2007
with JAWS 10?
I have new text I want to copy into an existing signature. Currently I use
the backspace key to remove the contents, then paste in
my new text. I want a faster way to remove the contents, so I can paste in
the new contents.

2. Is there a hot key to jump to the signature text to edit, instead of
tabbing until I get to the edit field?
Thank you,

Bill

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 Signatures

2010-01-30 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Bill,

If you have one default signature that goes in each outgoing Email then you
don't have to go through the dialog box for editing a signature. Simply
select the signature information in the individual message and type the text
that you want to replace the default signature text. However, what you
might consider doing is using a default signature and adding others. If you
add signatures then when you open a new message all you need to do is down
arrow to the signature that is automatically put in the message, use
application key and the context menu will have all your signatures listed.
After adding signatures the steps would be:

1. Move to the signature that is automatically placed in the message.
2. Press the application key.
3. use down arrow or up arrow key to find the signature you want to use and
press enter key.

Take care.

Sometimes, add ons can cause general outlook sluggishness. Also, if the pst
file gets too big, that can cause issues with the app. I did have problems
with delay in speech and sluggishness that you describe, but those were with

2007.

2010-04-30 Thread Don and Cher Bosch
I open messages in my browser and have to wait several seconds after
pressing the alt key before I hear the message tab on the ribbon announced.
Then there is another pause when I hit the appropriate key on my quick
access tool bar. It would be interesting to have someone watch the screen to
see if they could determine if the sluggishness is within Outlook 2007-
which I somewhat suspect- or whether JAWS is part or all of the problem. The
plain text messages certainly are more responsive, and I may change that
option someday and see if I can live with that any better.

While I cannot say I have found a solution to these problems, I can say I've
experienced every one of them. I have tried making sure my old data is
routinely cleaned, emptying my temp files folder, and all other things I can
think of. Nothing seems to help. I've used both off-line as well as in-
brouser methods for viewing emails, as it is necesary sometimes, and that
seems to have no bearing on whether the program will respond with speed or
sluggishness.
I too am using JAWS 11, with Windows 7, and Outlook 07.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 sluggishness

2010-05-01 Thread Annette Carr
Yes, at work some of us are also having problems with JAWS being sluggish
when opening a message, after deleting a character, word or more, and after
pressing the enter key when composing a message. We are using JAWS 11.756,
Office 2007 and XP. The only thing that appears to some what help is to
press the Alt key, wait until the ribbon is available, and then press Alt
again to move back to the body of the message. This sluggishness has caused
the reading and creation of e-mail to become a very slow and painful
process. I will be upgrading to JAWS 11.0.1430 on Monday.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 help

2009-05-21 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Reese,

I am not sure that this problem has been resolved yet. Here are some
suggestions:

One workaround for HTML messages that JAWS won't read correctly in Outlook
2007 is to have your browser read the message. Use Alt followed by H
followed by X followed by v. The H moves focus to the message tab, the X
activates the "other actions" button, and the V opens the message in the
browser.

Here is how to have all messages read in text format:

1. Open the tools menu using Alt+T and then use up arrow key until you get
to the trust center menu choice. Open the trust center with enter key.
2. Use up or down arrow key in the list of categories until you get to the
E-mail security category.
3. Use tab a number of times and you should find a box for reading all
messages in text. Press spacebar on the choice.

4. use tab key to the OK button and press enter key.

If you have a message that has been converted into text from HTML, you can
change it back to HTML. You need to find the information bar. I have done
this using JAWS cursorThe Alt+N that can be used in Internet Explorer
doesn't work. If you route JAWS to PC and go to the top of the window, you
can then use down arrow until you hear the message that says something like
"Thiss message has been converted to plain text." Do a right mouse click on
the line of text and choose to have it put back into HTML.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007- meeting requests

2009-07-02 Thread Bill Tipton
Hello,

How do I choose the next available date, or prior available date when
scheduling a meeting with a group of people in Outlook 2007
with Jaws 10? I used to be able to do this with Outlook 2003, by finding the
scheduling tab with Jaws keys and manually clicking on
the tab. I could then use alt - control - s to check if the people are
available. Then tab to the next or prior available date.
How do I accomplish this task in Outlook 2007 with Jaws 10?

Thank you,

Bill

[JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 contact info

2009-08-22 Thread Kimsan
If I'm reading an email and would like to quickly add the person to my contacts
is there a way to do this without doing the CTRL Shift C or CTRL 2 route?
In windows live I'm able to shift tab to the add to contacts button, click
space bar and the person will be added.
Is there something like that with outlook 2007? If so I haven't found it yet,
please help.

I'm using win xp pro, jaws 11, and outlook 2007.

Is anyone else getting this?

Is there a work around?

Hello all,
I want to get rid of some addresses in my contacts. Using Outlook 2007 and
JAWS 11, I press ctrl+3 to open contacts and all JAWS says is card list view
and nothing else. Does anyone know how to make this view accessible?
Please advise.
Thanks. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 help needed

2012-08-11 Thread John R Vaughn
Junior, when you get the cursor on the link, try pressing the right arrow to
move one character to the right and then try entering on the link. This has
worked for some on this list who have had this problem.

I am using vista home premium with jaws 13 on a 64 bit machine.
I use outlook 2007 for my email.
I have very recently had this problem come up.
I cannot click on any links in an email.
I use to be able to click on the links with no problem.
Any suggestions is appreciated.
