Summary: JBOSS3.2.5/lib/xercesImpl.jar should be xerces.jar

Initial Comment:
I am running a web application that loads an XML file
that is validated against a schema. This fails with the
dom4j.jar file that comes with the Jboss3.2.5. The error
message is:

org.DocumentException: Error on line XX of document.
Document is invalid: no grammer found.
org.dom4j.io.SaxReader.read(SaxReadre.java 329)

I thisnk this is owing to the fact that the
SaxReader.class file in dom4j.jar is an old class and it is
trying to validate aginst a DTD rather than the Schema.

I had to copy the dom4j-full.jar into jboss3.2.5/lib/ and
rename it to dom4j.jar to get my code to work.

Would it be possible to ship the jboss with the correct
dom4.jar file in jboss_home/lib.

operating system WINDOWS 2000
JAVA VERSION 1.4.2
thanks

I also had to replace the xercesImpl.jar with the xerces.jar
form jdom-b8 and rename this new xerces.jar file to
xercesImpl.jar for it to work properly.

[JBoss-dev] [JBossWS] - TypeMapping problem

2004-09-14 Thread gerhardo
Hello !

During deployment of my webservice (JSE) a warning in the server log shows up stating
there is a problem with my typemapping. I'm using JBoss 4.0.0RC2.
The warning is:
...
2004-09-14 09:20:02,628 WARN [org.jboss.webservice.deployment.TypeMappingDescription]
Class not found: de.emediapark.lvsws.ArrayOfLVSDoSupplier
...
The class LVSDoSupplier itself is correctly mapped as stated in the log
several lines prior to this warning.
There is a function getSuppliers() that returns LVSDoSupplier[] Array.
This warning didnt't show up deploying the same web service under Tomcat/Axis wtihout
JBoss.
I wouldn't mind if i hadn't this annoying problem:
Accessing the getSuppliers() function (viaPocketSOAP) from Windows NT4/VB everything
is correct (the retruned array is filled with the right data), but on Win2000/XP the
data in the returned array is empty although the correct number of array elements is
contained. The function getSupplier() which returns a single LVSDoSupplier Object is
OK on all platforms. The getSuppliers() function was ok on all platforms before
switching to JBossWS.

So I think i must start with the above mentioned warning.

For completeness: here is my type mapping from ws4ee-deployment.xml
deployment
   xmlns=http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/;
xmlns:java=http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java;
xmlns:soap=http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/;
xmlns:xsi=http://www.w3.org/2000/10/XMLSchema-instance;
xmlns:xsd=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema;
xmlns:lvsns=http://lvsws.emediapark.de;
...

...

TIA Gerhard

Summary: The instance was cascade-deleted when re-creating entity

Initial Comment:
After I migrated from JBoss 3.2.2.RC4 to 3.2.5 I started
having the following problem:

In my application I have two CMP entities: EntityA and
EntityB with CMR 1:1. EntityB is cascade-deleted after
EntityA. If withing a single transaction I:

1) Remove some instance of EntityA, corresponding
EntityB instance is cascade-deleted;
2) Create a new instance of EntityB with THE SAME
PRIMARY KEY as previously deleted EntityB had
3) Try to invoke CMR setter EntityA.setEntityB(newly
created instance of EntityB)

I get

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The instance was
cascade-deleted: pk=XXX
at org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.jdbc.bridge.
JDBCCMRFieldBridge.
getRelatedPrimaryKey(JDBCCMRFieldBridge.java:1720)
at org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.jdbc.bridge.

at org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.jdbc.bridge.

at org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.bridge.

EntityBridgeInvocationHandler.
invoke(EntityBridgeInvocationHandler.java:91)
at org.jboss.proxy.compiler.Runtime.invoke(Runtime.
java:62)
at xxx.EntityA$Proxy.setEntityB(generated)

I do understand that the instance was deleted, but why
can't I use a new one with the same PK in CMR setter?

I can provide a test case if there is a problem with
reproduction.

We are facing the same issue as well and this issue will
prevent us from porting to JBoss 3.2.4.

Summary: 3.2.6RC2 critical problem

Initial Comment:
I got 3.2.6RC2 from CVS one or 2 weeks ago.
Release ID: JBoss [WonderLand] 3.2.6RC2 (build:
CVSTag=Branch_3_2 date=200408291915)

I've been working with it and with a mySQL database
without problems.

I choosed to change my Database from mySQL to PostgreSQL.

Here is my problem:
Got a pk in my table, that I want postgresql to
increment, so I use: entity-command
name=postgresql-fetch-seq

It should not be any problem... but it is...
On 3.2.6RC2, I got this message:

Summary: TransactionRolledbackLocalExceptions due to NPE

Initial Comment:
Hi.

When using the archive from Bug #1019591 on the JBoss-4.0RC2
server I get TransactionRolledbackLocalException when calling a
local interface.

09:52:16,329 ERROR [LogInterceptor]
TransactionRolledbackLocalException in method: public abstract
ejb.CLocal ejb.CLocalHome.create(java.lang.String) throws
javax.ejb.CreateException, causedBy:
java.lang.NullPointerException

I've attached the archive to this case also -- the archive works on
JBoss-3.2RC1 - apart from #1019591.

Let me know if I can provide more information.
 Juan

It seems to be a duplicate of [ 1027347 ] '3.2.6RC2
critical problem' which should be fixed now. Thanks.

I tried to make a log with TRACE level enabled.

It seems like the INSERT INTO statement is build correctly
and the error occurs between that time and the
create(String) method returns (End method=create is
logged at TRACE level).

I'm using PostgreSQL-7.4.x with the 215 JDBC driver (same
as in the JBoss-3.2RC1 case).

I hope that this is of some use.
 Juan

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-1019591 ] Multiple CMRs in same tx

2004-09-14 Thread SourceForge.net
Bugs item #1019591, was opened at 2004-08-31 14:30
Message generated for change (Comment added) made by loubyansky

Resolution: None
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Juan Martinez (juanmartinez)

Summary: Multiple CMRs in same tx

Initial Comment:
Hi.

I've 3 entities which are in the following relationship:

 A 1 --- * B * --- 1 C

and a method in session facade which creates a A entity and a lot
of B entities. The C entities exists before the facade method is
called.

What happens is this:

1) A is created
2) Another method is called which creates B's with different
properties (and sub-methods)
3) The B is created with a reference to C (set is called in
ejbPostCreate)
4) The newly created B's are then assigned to A

All tx attributes are set to Required in case of a failure
somewhere under the creation.

Inside the facade tx I can see that all B's has a reference to C.

When the facade method completes a check to the database
shows that only the last B's reference to C is set.

That is:

During facade tx (bean level):
 B1 - C1
 B2 - C1

After facade tx (and in database):
 B1 - NULL
 B2 - C1

A find call after the facade method shows this as well (b1.getC()
== null b2.getC() != null). CMP fields are fine in both cases.

The A - B relationships are fine.

All primary keys in A, B, and C are based on PostgreSQL
sequences. The reference between the entities are based on
sql-/jdbc-type INTEGER.

The tests have been run on 3.2.6RC1 and 4.0.0RC1 -- not the
branches, sorry. I searched the closed bug reports for 3.2.6RC2
couldn't a match for this case.

The container is run with default setup (COMMIT B).

I can try and make a testcase if needed -- the original code
creates 1000's of entities and have a lot more dependencies.

Let me know if I can provide more information.
 Juan

I managed to create a testcase based on only the B's and C's.

You'll need jbossall-client.jar and XDoclet libs in the lib
directory.

Sorry for the delay -- let me know if I can help with
something.

insert-after-ejb-post-create hasn't been changed, so it's false.

I'll try and make a testcase for you.

Is insert-after-ejb-post-create true? In other words, is the
valid primary key available after ejbCreate but before
ejbPostCreate?
A testcase would help.

[JBoss-dev] [Caches on JBoss (Caches/JBoss)] - Re: ConcurrentModificationException in log.debug() statement

2004-09-14 Thread norbert
I'd suggest to make use of the oswego concurrent library instead of using simple
synchronisation.

e.g. use EDU.oswego.cs.dl.util.concurrent.ConcurrentReaderHashMap instead of
HashMap

this will both:

- enshure we use the 'best-of-breed' solution for concurrent access
- be as close as possible to the upcomming JDK 5.0 that includes the
java.util.concurrent classes based on the oswego-library.

Summary: FK Violation deleting 1-1 relationship

Initial Comment:
I have attached a set of CMPs that cause a foreign key
violation when deleted.

Entities:
  Group
  Address
  GroupId

Group has a uni-directional 1-1 relationship with
Address. A foreign key is set up on the
Group.physicalAddressKey field.

Group has a bi-directional 1-many relationship with
GroupId.

I have batch-cascade-delete turned on for the group-
has-groupids relationship because the GroupId.groupKey
cannot be null.

I do not have batch-cascade-delete turned on for the
group-has-address relationship because
physicalAddressKey is an FK into Address, so Address
cannot be deleted before Group.

The relationships work separately, but when I have them
defined at the same time, I get a Foreign Key violation.
I've included the server.log file with the full error
message in my attachment.

Summary: HiLoKeyGeneratorFactory throws exception during startup

Initial Comment:
Hi.

HiLoKeyGeneratorFactory throws an exception during
startup while checking if the hilosequnces table exists.

This is because the DatabaseMetadata isn't checked if it
stores table names in lower case (all the stores...()
methods aren't checked).

The problem is also in dropTableIfExists().

The following patch using SQLUtil to make the check
since it does it correctly.

Let me know if I can provide more information.

Summary: Wrong deployment state for non deployable files

Initial Comment:
Hi!

When deploying files without any suitable deployer in
jboss (JBoss 3.2.5), the jar deployer is trying to open
this file. This ends up with a ZipException. The
ZipException is cought within the class
SubDeployerSupport (processNestedDeployments) and a
warning is logged. The file is listed within the
deployed list with status: deployed and state: STARTED.
I assume this file should show up within the incomplete
deployment list with state: FAILED.
Instead of logging this warning, a DeploymentException
should be thrown as mentioned there in the source code.
I changed this (attached file) and it works for me.

Greetings,

Bernd

Your change would mean typos are unexpectedly ignored.

You can exclude files using a filter. See conf/jboss-service.xml
!-- The Filter specifies a java.io.FileFilter for scanned
directories. Any file not accepted by this
filter will not be
   deployed. The
org.jboss.deployment.scanner.DeploymentFilter

... better:
don't deploy these files while adding them to the waiting
for deployer list. The jar deployer should not try to deploy it.

Summary: Column names are not escaped

Initial Comment:
Hi.

I've a table called User which is a reserved word in
PostgreSQL. JBoss correctly escapes the table name to
xuser.

I've another table which has a foreign key constraint to
the User table where the foreign key column is called
User -- not the column name is not escaped.

The deployment then fails.

Workaround:
 1) Use different column name
 2) Escape column names also

I hoping for 2 ;)

Using current HEAD -- problem may also be on
Branch_3_2.

Let me know if I can provide more information.

2004-09-14 Thread Ana Bela
  Hi,

I would like to know as the search in module bb functions... I have a problem: I had
a installation of Nukes and I tested the module bb creating forums, topics, posts, but
what I wanted to do is passed the date of another forum to bb and for that I removed
the forums, topics, posts that I had already with administration of forums in
Nukes, and following I passed the posts of the other forum to bb ok, but the result of
the search always returns the result count to the topics, posts that had before and
that I erased. I remove the database and reinstall Nukes but the problem still the
same..

  Thanks for any help.

Summary: EJB-QL parsing error in JBoss 3.2.5

Initial Comment:
Hi,

I get the following error when I deploy an EJB jar file
in JBoss 3.2.5:

-
 Depends On Me: MBeanException:
org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Error
compiling EJB-QL statement 'SELECT OBJECT(e) FROM
Department d, IN(d.employees) e
WHERE d.departmentIdentifier = ?1 AND
  e.positionIdentifier = ?2';
- nested
throwable:
(org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.ejbql.ParseException:
Encountered WHERE at line 2, column 49.
Was expecting one of:
EOF
, ...
)

-

JBoss seems to detect a parsing error in the following
query (which I specify in the EJB jar file I am trying
to deploy):

query
query-method

method-namefindByDepartmentAndPosition/method-name
method-params

method-paramjava.lang.String/method-param

method-paramjava.lang.String/method-param
/method-params
/query-method
ejb-ql
![CDATA[
SELECT OBJECT(e) FROM Department d,
IN(d.employees) e
WHERE d.departmentIdentifier =
?1 AND
  e.positionIdentifier = ?2
]]
/ejb-ql
/query

However, such a query seems to be correct. Even more, I
can deploy the same EJB jar file in JBoss 3.2.1 (and
works fine).

I send you the ejb-jar.xml where I specify this query.

Thank you very much in advance,
Fernando Bellas.

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: Gallery module

2004-09-14 Thread thepriz
Idid briefly look at the different gallery modules a while back because I was
interested in porting one. What I found is that some of them use a library to do some
of the graphic manipulation. I would suggest that you find a java lib that can do the
same things as the ones that where used for the other projects. I started looking for
a java graphic library to do this and was supprised that there where some out there
but didn't get a chance to look any further.

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - User Management

2004-09-14 Thread thepriz
I was just wondering if someone was working on a user management module for nukes just
like the one in Postnuke?

It seems to me the only way to add users is to use the create one option on the
login box. Is this true?

If this is true we should think about doing this. Some sites need the ability to add
and remove users without the user doing it himself. For example, I have a site with
genealogy on it. I only want to allow my family to be able to log on to the website
and I don't want anyone else being able to create an account. By the way this is only
an extream example. Or the fact that we have a site that is used on an intranet as a
way for employees to comunicate ans share data. As people come and go the site
administrator would want to enable/disable accounts but not let users just create an
account themselves.

not allow to provide a max-bean-age 24days :

int p = Integer.parseInt(op);
 if (p = 0) {throw new DeploymentException
(Overager period can't be = 0);}
m_overagerPeriod = p * 1000;

while the m_overagerPeriod is correctly declared as long,
the parameter is read from configuration file as an
integer. But much worse is the next line where the int
value is multiply by 1000 -- this lead that if you don't
want an integer overflow to provide a max value of
2^31/1000 (int max value/1000) which is about 24 days
(I need long duration cache for values that take me
hours to computed and that won't change for 1 or 2
monthes)!

So my patch fix this by making the p parameter a long. I
did it for all parameters retrieved from the configuration
file.

The problems is present on the 3.2.x branch (last cvs
version), I didn't look at 4.x version but I guess the
problem is also there.

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-1027985 ] EJB-QL parsing error in JBoss 3.2.5

Summary: EJB-QL parsing error in JBoss 3.2.5

Initial Comment:
Hi,

I get the following error when I deploy an EJB jar file
in JBoss 3.2.5:

-
 Depends On Me: MBeanException:
org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Error
compiling EJB-QL statement 'SELECT OBJECT(e) FROM
Department d, IN(d.employees) e
WHERE d.departmentIdentifier = ?1 AND
  e.positionIdentifier = ?2';
- nested
throwable:
(org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.ejbql.ParseException:
Encountered WHERE at line 2, column 49.
Was expecting one of:
EOF
, ...
)

-

JBoss seems to detect a parsing error in the following
query (which I specify in the EJB jar file I am trying
to deploy):

query
query-method

method-namefindByDepartmentAndPosition/method-name
method-params

method-paramjava.lang.String/method-param

method-paramjava.lang.String/method-param
/method-params
/query-method
ejb-ql
![CDATA[
SELECT OBJECT(e) FROM Department d,
IN(d.employees) e
WHERE d.departmentIdentifier =
?1 AND
  e.positionIdentifier = ?2
]]
/ejb-ql
/query

However, such a query seems to be correct. Even more, I
can deploy the same EJB jar file in JBoss 3.2.1 (and
works fine).

I send you the ejb-jar.xml where I specify this query.

Thank you very much in advance,
Fernando Bellas.

Yes you need to do that : go in the index module with index.html?module=index, here
you can managed the indices. Just remove the one for the module and then rebuild it

Initial Comment:
From web tier I call:

LoginContext lc = new LoginContext(client-login,
handler);
lc.login();
...

then I call my business method which creates
connection inside the call. The first call is ok. Then I go
to other page and call a method of this
stateless/stateful (I tried both) bean again (it's saved in
session) and now a call gives

org.jboss.resource.JBossResourceException: Could not
create connection; - nested throwable:
(java.sql.SQLException: Null user or password not
supported in THIN driver)

And because by logs I see that
CallerIdentityLoginModule uses *default* user/password
it's clear that they are somewhere lost.

I need a working example as I have no idea if the security
context is being established in each web page that is
accessing an ejb, which is in turn accessing the connection.
Based on the exception I would say this is not the case in
which case the indicated behavior is expected.

Summary: WebService call calls always the same Servlet

Initial Comment:
We build up two ear's with similar structure and names.
I used jboss-app.xml to get scoped classloading.
Both ear's contain war-files with webservices of JSE-
style in it.
After deploying both ear's, I can access the webservice
via both URL's, but on the server always the servlet of
last deplyoed ear is called.

I stripped down a testcase for this problem.
The attached jar-file contains the sources.
In build.xml some path will probably need some
adjustment.
Running build.sh will create std.ear and cus.ear from
test-dir and etc.
In client-dir you'll find some axis-genarated files and
Client.java. Here both URL's are called, both as said
above, I get both times the same result.
First I got cus.
After touching std.ear in deploy-dir on the server I
get std.

Attachement was too big. I reduced the jar's in lib-dir to size
0. You'll have to copy the ones from the JBoss-server.

Beware that rpc/encoded violates the BasicProfile R1006. You should stick with
document/literal or rpc/literal.

I'll put an example on the wiki that shows arrays of custom objects.

That's the problem I have. Also, if you manually
add the subtask to the xdoclet build file in a project,
it is removed as soon as you try to run xdoclet.

It would be great if there was a recipe out there
for doing this integration. Nothing I've tried seems
to work.

Actually including it in JBoss-IDE would be huge win.
It would make coding and packaging web services
a breeze.

yes correct, when i manually add the subtask into xdoclet-build.xml, it will be
removed once i run xDoclet.
So what i do know is manually create the web-service.xml and configure my package to
create the wsr file. It's seem working at the moment...:)

anyway, i'm still hoping someone will see this post and give us some light...:)

We probably don't want to get too heavy into this aspect of the IDE, but we'd want, at
the very least.. to show a list of tables provided by each datasource that the
container has. I believe JSR77 _should_ be fine for this.. I'll probably write a

You're right about not needing Datasource Management, though accessing the
EntityManager remotely will either break the spec, or simply not work at all.
(Apparently this part of the EJB3 spec is still somewhat in the air..). Bill's
suggestion was that we create a JBoss specific service that exposes the EJBQL
functionality. More about this when I can pick Bill's brain again.

This would be the primary use of the Datasource Management. I envision something to

for any defined annotation within your project's classpath. If this is the case, the
user can just create an EJB3 project, which will have the EJB3 libraries attached to
the classpath.. and voila! instant code assist for all EJB3 annotations =).
Code Templates for EJB3 is a fresh idea.. I like it.. we'll put a check next to that
on the feature list.

Continued onto the next posting..

  | Display/editable object graph (can we utilize the variable view from jdt - it
contains at least a widget for doing this)

introspection (visualization/manipulation)

If we can figure out a way to get some sort of EJBQL Result Set back to JBossIDE, we
can use jdk5 reflection to get the annotation meta-info and property names of each
corresponding bean. The object graph would probably have to be rewritten for the most
part.. I'm guessing it's an internal API only (though I don't have any facts to back
that up, I'll do some reasarch).

I'll try to get some more time with Bill and figure out exactly how we are going to
implement this custom service for ejbql execution.

Thanks for the feedback.. hopefully we can turn this into a Roadmap soon =).

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: JBoss AOP vs. AspectJ

2004-09-14 Thread kabkhan
In JBoss AOP you can attach things dynamically via the AspectManager class. You need
to prepare your class first:
