A LEO at a recent community watch meeting explained that police actually
respond and report (vs protect and serve). At that point one attendee

It has 6 button diodes. Apparently similar to what is used in car

this schematic shows the big brother 240V version of this welder, and if
you look at the rectifier, mine is similar, but it only has one 6 diode

Here is the question. I assume this means there was an insulation

[MBZ] OT - Car Hauler?

SWMBA purchased a car out of Southeast MO. The transport broker(?) who was
supposed to get the thing hauled to SEA for placement onto a boat has dropped
the ball. The car was expected to be on the ship last week. Now it looks like
it might not be up here for driving until 2020 if she keeps using this guy.

Anybody have a reliable transporter to recommend?

I am aware that there is a mighty weather system brewing mostly impacting MO
and TN this week and maybe next. SWMBA is beginning to think I should be sent
to pick up and drive the thing here (ANC).

I don't think so, the display in the dash shows it to be in "P" so that
should be OK.

I got the radio code from MBUSA and got the radio to come alive so that
is some small progress.

I tried to crank it again and got another Start Error msg.  Could not
hear the starter solenoid clunk.  I am thinking the other battery I put
in might not be up to the job either even though I had used it on
another car and it started it up, I am charging up another one I'll try
tomorrow.  I might need to break down and go buy a new battery if the
one that came in it is actually bad, probably should put it in the E320
anyway as the one I swapped into that car was from the $500E300, not
sure how old it was though it cranks fine.  I might have bought that one
like a year ago for the $500E300, I can't remember.  I can try that one
too. I should go to HF and get one of those cheap battery testers maybe.

I managed to decode the date on the battery that was in the vehicle,
June 2019,  near as I can decipher.  Looks pretty new, 30month full
warranty.  I'll put it on the charger again then take it to the FLAPS
and have them check it.  If it is good there must some other issue in
the connections that aren't showing up in the scans.  Maybe as Max
suggested the starter might be kaput.  Hmmm.

Tomorrow if I get some time in the daylight I'll get under and see if
the ground strap and starter cables are all in ordnung.

Oh, and it dropped 30F since I was out earlier around lunchtime fooling

Locked/unlocked with the fob to make sure it was still talking to the

I put the charger on this one to see if maybe it doesn’t have enough

I’m not seeing any fault codes so it’s either this battery too or

something wonky with the starter? I suppose I could try yet another
battery or go get a new one to try but it’s kinda puzzling. I’ll let it
charge a bit then try again.

I guess I should slide under too and just make sure the starter is

It’s about 80F out. The mosquitoes are vicious. I guess they’re getting

Re: [MBZ] I Wonder

2019-11-12 Thread Dan--- via Mercedes
And a great car when sorted. After working around the eldest son’s, I’m
thinking this could be the next car I drive when/if I retire the S210 wagon.

There’s a really nice one on the local CL but the seller is asking stupid money
($8k w/140k on the clock).

[MBZ] ML500 still no cranky

2019-11-12 Thread Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes
So I decided over lunch to have a go at getting this thing started. Left the
battery on the charger, it was at 100%. At first I got a start error again, no
cranky. Hooked up the computer again and scanned it, only one fault code about
the steering angle sensor which I cleared ( needs to turn steering wheel
lock-lock).

Locked/unlocked with the fob to make sure it was still talking to the nannies
then had a go, no start error but no cranky either. Swapped in a battery which
just started another car, just got a clunk from the starter. I put the charger
on this one to see if maybe it doesn’t have enough electrons. I’ll try again
later.

I’m not seeing any fault codes so it’s either this battery too or something
wonky with the starter? I suppose I could try yet another battery or go get a
new one to try but it’s kinda puzzling. I’ll let it charge a bit then try
again.

I guess I should slide under too and just make sure the starter is connected
tightly.

It’s about 80F out. The mosquitoes are vicious. I guess they’re getting in
their last hurrah but it’s now starting to cool off, I guess the front is
coming.

I agree that it’s not political for the most part, but bringing a former
politician who has a very clearly and hotly contested agenda will cause the
exchanges to devolve into unpleasant rhetoric between the various parties.

It’s not germane to the topics here, and you’re making assumptions for others
that you have no right to do so. I’m being preemptive. Don’t like it? You’re
welcome to take over the responsibilities of running the list.

Re: [MBZ] Where's albore?

2019-11-12 Thread Randy Bennell via Mercedes
Now come on Dan. That is hardly political comment. I suggest that most
of the folks on the list are not convinced that the "climate change" or
"global warming" issue is totally true.
We have a potential issue but it remains unproven. My recollection is
that back in the 1970s the scientists were certain we were headed for
another ice age. Now they think that it is going the other way.  In
Canada, the whole issue appears to be nothing more than another tax grab
by the government. Our population is small and our country large. We
have lots of trees etc. We produce lots of electricity without burning
coal etc. Nevertheless, despite the fact that whatever we do is a
proverbial "drop in the bucket" when China and India and even the USA
does not appear willing to do much about this potential concern, our
government is prepared to make us pay an ever increasing carbon tax so
that our Prime Minister can hold himself out to be a saviour and get
applauded by 3rd world countries at the UN.

We have come to the point where we are unable to express our views
unless they are approved as politically correct by the left wing media.

I don't know how much Canadian news you folks get but right now, there
is an uproar over comments made by Don Cherry. He complained on national
television that our new immigrant citizens do not appear to respect
Remembrance Day. Now he is accused of being "mean" and saying "hurtful"
things. No one is permitted to have an opinion that differs from the
left leaning media and one must not complain about the failure of
immigrants to accept our long term way of life in this country or they
are branded as racist etc.

I am willing to bet that the majority of people in Canada feel the same
way that Don Cherry does but most are unwilling to admit it.

[MBZ] '65 Rambler American 440 3 speed convertible

2019-11-12 Thread Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes
OMG. The rarity of this car is well deserved, e.g.e. who would want to
purchase it? My college roommate had a Rambler sedan that was convenient
for dating, until I inadvertently drove it in winter without any coolant.
It rolled to a dead stop, causing significant damage
