MySQL 5 certification books / trainign material

2010-09-07 Thread Machiel Richards
Good day everyone

I think I have asked this question a while back but cant
remember whether I have received an answer yet so I will ask again.

I am busy studying for my MySQL certification exams,
however the only book I have available to me is the MySQL 4 manual.

The online pdf versions (for version 5.0 from the mysql
website) seem to not be covering quite a bit of the info that is shown
as requirements for the exam (or I am just being stupid and not finding
it)

My first exam is in 13 days and I have been struggling to
find the relevant books or resources in order for me to get the study
information I need.

I tried Amazon,etc... but Amazon apparently does not deliver
in SA anymore and the SA sites all show that the suppliers are out of
stock. I managed to find one place today that had stock but shipment
will take 25 working days which I do not have at this point.

Does anybody know where I can get hold of a MySQL 5
certification study guide? Even if it is in pdf format or at this stage
even if it has been used before.

I would really appreciate the help with this as I can't
even seem to get hold of someone at oracle to provide me with possible
assistance as they all just say they don't know.

Regards
Machiel

Re: Mysql Certification exams

Hi Machiel,

First of all, obligatory disclaimer: Until 2007, I was in charge of the

MySQL certification exams. I'm also co-author of the book I'm about to

recommend, but I receive no sales royalties. All of which means that I'm

biased and my knowledge may be a bit rusty, but hopefully still useful :-)

The best resource for self-study ought to be the MySQL 5 Certification

Study Guide,

http://www.amazon.com/MySQL-5-0-Certification-Study-Guide/dp/0672328127/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8s=booksqid=1262596558sr=8-1

The book has received very favorable feedback from those doing

self-studying for the certification exams. Along with the book you get a

number of self-study questions to help you check whether you have

understood the material. The questions are open-ended/discussion questions,

not multiple-choice like on the exams.

Also make sure to read the candidate guide on the mysql web site before

you go to the exam. It has a lot of valuable hints.

Best of luck on the exam!

Hi Machiel,

1) the best resource for the exam is/was the Cerification Study Guide and it
is all you need to pass the exam but
2) the exam changed recently (no more from Vue) so that the Guide could be
useless

I am not telling you that being certified this way makes sense only for some
corporate needs or personal CV needs (apart from telling friends at the bar)
and when you will be at night with a broken replication your certification
will not help you.
But I am sure you know it already!

Buy the official guides and read them well:

That has all the information you need and practice exam questions. The

Certification Feedback?

2009-02-01 Thread Daniel Lahey
I'm considering MySQL certification, and I'm wondering which
certifications I should target. I've been developing using MySQL for
about 4-5 years, but am looking to get out of development and into a
DBA role. I've worked with various database engines for about 20
years, so it would seem that I'd be OK just going for the CMDBA
certification. Does anyone have any feedback regarding these tracks?
It looks very much like I'd best just go for the CMDBA, but I don't
want to leave any gaps. I'd be grateful for any advice. Cheers,

MySQL certification lag

2008-07-17 Thread Rob Wultsch
Can anyone comment about how long it takes to a mysql cert letter? I
was RIF'ed recently and have since passed the MySQL Developer exams,
and would love to not have to wait at a minimum a month to be able to
put the certification on my resume.

After we receive notice of your results, we send a letter to you with
details on how to access the Certification Candidate part of the MySQL
Web site. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks delivery time for this letter.

If you passed the exam, the letter will also contain your
certification diploma and instructions on how to obtain logos for use
on your business cards, stationary, personal home page, blog, personal
e-mail signature, and so on. With these proofs of knowledge at your
disposal, you're well equipped to enhance your career path.
http://www.mysql.com/certification/certfaq.html

The ZCE (which I plan to take next...) seems to claim a much *faster
turn around:
Once you have passed the exam, it takes 24-48 hours for your name and
credentials to be published in the Zend Yellow Pages for PHP
Professionals.
http://www.zend.com/en/services/certification/faq?search=page=2

And they charge (125 vs 400) a heck of a lot less.

*Snail mail is slow for them also:
We will mail your diploma once you have passed the exam. Please allow
8-10 weeks for delivery.

Cluster Certification Study Guide available again

Re: Certified MySQL Associate (CMA) certification value

2008-02-25 Thread Thufir
Thanks for the input, everyone. I've gone back and am now leaning
towards a VCC (Vancouver Community College) certificate:

Database Developer Certificate (DDC)

http://www.vcc.ca/cs/_printable-datesort.cfm?
area=CSCOMPUTERprog=DATABASE#CSCOMPUTERDATABASE

What I like about this is the cumulative effect of formalised learning
with, I hope, job placement help from VCC. It's, I think, an
outrageous price, but is fast and gives me something tangible.

I don't mind paying the cash, but if it's not worth much more than:

Associate (CMA) Certification
http://www.mysql.com/certification/

it wouldn't make sense in a cost/benefit analysis. Just curious what
others think of this program.

Well, it sounds like something you can learn a lot from. But nobody's
ever heard of it. And if you're looking to learn about MySQL in
particular, I suspect you won't get much out of this; it will mostly
be general knowledge. So if you're looking for a job as a MySQL DBA,
I suspect this won't do a whole lot for you.

Re: Certified MySQL Associate (CMA) certification value

2008-02-21 Thread B. Keith Murphy
So I can relate a little personal knowledge about this. In July of last
year I had someone approach me and ask how they could get a job as a
DBA. After talking for a bit, it turned out that he had no database
experience. He actually use to be a lawyer and decided to make a
change. I told him to set up a database on a Linux computer and start
playing around with it. The next month he said that he had done so.
What next? Well, MySQL AB had just released the CMA exam. As Baron
mentioned, it makes a great baseline to show your knowledge when you
approach companies. I told him to start studying for the test using the
MySQL Certification book (a subset of it covers the exam material). We
met twice over the next few months to study a bit and then in December
he took the test and passed it.

Monday he actually started as our part time junior DBA. Is he making a
lot of money? Nope. But, it is a good chance for him to get experience
in a rapidly growing production environment and in another nine months
or a year he *will *be able to get a decent job.

So can you do it? Sure. Do you need a college degree? Not really. He
certainly had one, but it had nothing to do with databases. What does
it take? Desire, work and reasonable intelligence. That's all. I
doubt you will make much at your first job, but learn from the
experience and do everything you can to learn more. Once you get done
with the CMA start working on the CMDBA exams. Unlike some other cert
programs these aren't fluff. I am not sure of the statistics listed on
MySQL's website, but there just aren't that many certified DBAs.

And you won't find many jobs listed as jr dba. Don't sweat that.
Approach companies that already have dbas and tell them you want a
chance to learn. Show them through the CMA that you are serious.
Working for peanuts. If it were me, and I was just starting out, I
would pick what company I wanted to work at and if they wouldn't hire me
for eight or ten dollars an hour I would offer to work for free. Just
remember it is only temporary.

Good luck.

MySQL 5.1 Cluster Certification Study Guide

2007-12-05 Thread Stefan Hinz
Hi,

A little over a year since the project to write this book began, the
MySQL 5.1 Cluster Certification Study Guide is now at long last
available. Covering the Certified MySQL 5.1 Cluster Database
Administrator exam, this study guide is the one authority to look to
when you're preparing for the test. The book teaches you all the
concepts, principles, and techniques that you'll need to know for the
exam, with many practice questions and real-world examples to help you
prepare for test day. The book is also an excellent reference guide for
your real-world MySQL Cluster administration needs. Whatever your reason
for becoming MySQL certified, this book gives you the information you
need to help you better understand MySQL Cluster technologies and
prepare for and pass the exams.

The authors span from Australia over Europe to the East and West coast
of the US. We had reviewers from four different continents. Seeing a
project like this actually working and producing a great result is
really fascinating. Carsten Pedersen helped to get the table of contents
in place, wrote the introduction, and made sure certification program
and study guide were kept in sync, while Stefan Hinz was the project
lead, but, naturally, the lion's share was done by the authors:

* Jon Stephens is not only the master of MySQL Cluster Documentation, he
has actually moved himself halfway across the world be be closer to the
Cluster developers while he works. His author's credits include
Beginning MySQL Database Design and Optimization from Apress.

* Mike Kruckenberg should be a familiar name to anyone reading Planet
MySQL. Mike is co-author of Pro MySQL from Apress, and member of the
MySQL Certification Technical Advisory Board.

* Roland Bouman, blogger extraordinaire, winner of one of the 2006 MySQL
Community awards, and hired in 2006 to (among many other things) develop
the Cluster certification exams. If anyone knows what's on the exams, he
is the one.

* Stewart Smith not only hacks away at Cluster during his working hours,
he's also very involved in the Australian Open Source community, and is
often heard speaking on MySQL Cluster.

* Solomon Chang, a founding member of LAMPSIG of Los Angeles and a
professional DBA, has contributed material for exercises and reviewed
much of the book.

This is the first book we published all on our own. It's printed and
shipped via lulu.com, a print-on-demand shop. You can order your copy
here: http://www.lulu.com/content/1297960. It will also be available
from retailers (Amazon as well as brick and mortar bookstores) soon.

MySQL 5.0 certification

2005-10-10 Thread Allyson Young
Has anyone been involved with the 5.0 certification program. I
purchased three books in regards to 5.0 certification from MySQL but am
totally unable to find anything about the new certification program on
the web site. The new program is structured COMPLETELY different from
the old program and thus it is somewhat useless to study if only the old
4.1 certification program is in place. Anyone know anything?

I've read that the new MySQL 5 certificates will be available about 2
or 3 months after MySQL 5 becomes a Production Release.

Hi, I took the MySQL core and professional certification exams and failed
both, so now I want to go again, but does anyone have any tips or techniques
for studying that they've found useful?

Wow, what a drag.

Did you read the study guide? How long have you been a MySQL user?

I am preparing to take the professional exam and have been reading the study
guide. I find it to be very useful and informative in that it lets you know
what percentage each topic will be covered in the exam.

I also started reading the entire online manual. I skim through a lot of it
and spend the most time on the areas that either interest me or are unclear.

I have been a MySQL user since 1998. Most my experience was
installation/administration for a web hosting provider until around 2001 at
which time I began using it for my own projects. It's really only been the
last year or two that I started feeling any kind of confidence with MySQL.

Although I have not taken the exam, I am feeling pretty confident that I can
pass after reading the online manual and the study guide from front to
(almost) back. I hope I'm right about that feeling!

Wish me luck :-)

Best of luck to you, too.

I would suggest exposing yourself to other developers and them to you as
well. They are often found on irc server irc.freenode.net. The more you
expose yourself to them and them to you, the better you know and better
prepared you get for exam. They also provide resourceful information as
they exchange advices.

Looking for reviewers: MySQL Certification Study Guide

2004-05-28 Thread Carsten Pedersen
Hi!

In April, the MySQL Certification Study Guide was published by MySQL
Press. By now, it has arrived in bookstores across the world.

The main parts of the book are written by Paul DuBois, Stefan Hinz and
yours truly. Paul needs no introduction; Stefan has translated several
MySQL books to German and is a member of the MySQL documentation team.
I'm just the Certification Manager here at MySQL.

The MySQL Certification Study Guide is a comprehensive study guide to
prepare you for the MySQL Core Certification and MySQL Professional
Certification Exams. We like to think that it is useful for anyone that
wishes to brush up his or her MySQL skills.

We are looking for a few brave individuals that are interested in
writing an independent review of the book (to be published on the MySQL
web site) in exchange for a free copy of the Study Guide. Being in the
MySQL Certification program is *not* a requirement for being selected as
a reviewer.

The book is some 600 pages; we expect you to complete your review no
later than June 30th.

You can read some more details on the Study Guide, including a free
chapter on http://www.mysql.com/training/certification/studyguides/

If you are interested in giving a review in exchange for a book, please
email me directly with the below information, which will be used to
select the broadest possible range of reviewers.

- Name and e-mail address
- Work function
- How long you have been using MySQL
- Age
- Whether you've already signed up for or taken a certification exam(s)
  - if so, which one(s)
- Whether you're primary work with MySQL is as administrator or
  developer.

Best regards,

  1. What is the format of the test questions? I.e., are they multiple
  choice, free answer, essay, etc.?

They are multiple-choice (but very tricky) and fill-in-the-gaps.
 For example:

Assume a column in a MyISAM table has type VARCHAR, BLOB, or TEXT.
Which of the following specifies this table type correctly to save
 space?
Mark all answers that are wrong:
 [ ] ROW_FORMAT=Static
 [ ] ROW_FORMAT=default
 [ ] ROW_FORMAT=dynamic
 [ ] ROW_FORMAT=compressed
[ ] all of the above
[ ] none of the above

I think I need to clarify a few details regarding this:

First of all, we've done all that we possibly could do to remove double
negatives in the exam questions. We very rarely ask which of the
following are NOT true. Only when the question or answer texts would
become much more complicated without this structure, have we submitted
to it. And when we do so, we make it very clear what we are asking.

There are indeed All/None of the above answers for a few question
items. However, because of the way the exams are structured, I can
promise you that if you were to go to the exam today, you would only see
one (if any) of this type of questions during the entire exam.

Now, I'm not saying all this to put Johannes or his observations down --
going to an exam *is* a stressful experience and people do come out with
(amazingly) different accounts of what they thought was going on during
the exam. During internal testing of the exams, I had MySQL employees be
subjected to the exact same set of questions. Afterward, they gave me
completely different accounts of their experience: some felt that more
than half the questions had been on import/export (it was in fact around
5%); others were saying that they thought there were too many fill-in
the blanks questions (on that particular test, they were subjected to
*two* such questions during the exam).

Are they theory based or is it fact based, i.e., memorize the books to
  pass?

For the CORE certification, it's balanced. In many cases they show you
some tables's contents and you have pick either the statements which do
some job, or the result if you rune some statement. For this type of
questions, memorizing the books is just not enough. You need to
 *understand* the facts.

For the PROFESSIONAL certification, it's different. Here you don't need
SQL, but you should memorize every aspect of performance- and
 security-tuning.

...and again, you need to *understand* how things work. Mere fact
memorization won't see you through (which is not contrary to Johannes'
statement; I just think it's important to highlight it).

I have heard from some candidates that they regard the Core exam as
being more of a memorization exam than Professional. Which only goes
to show, once again, that perceptions differ quite a bit as people come
out of the testing room.

Best regards,

/ Carsten

I haven't read them.

For the CORE certification, I found O'Reillys Managing Using MySQL
by Reese, Yarger, King, Williams plus 6 years of M(y)SQL experience not
too bad. You might want to try XML-Mentor's practice test
http://www.xmlmentor.net/mysqlcore.htm. I only tried the free demo,
which has 10 of 215 questions.

For the PROFESSIONAL certification, I printed and read the MySQL
reference manual http://www.mysql.com/documentation and actually
bought a practice-test from http://www.xmlmentor.net/mysqlprof.htm
at 89,- US$.

XML-Mentor's practice test for the professional certification was not as
hard as the real (beta) exam and it had 10% wrong answers, but it
pointed me to the locations of the manual I had to reread. After having
passed the real exam, I must admit the practice test was worth the
money. And it was fun, too. BTW, I sent a long list of corrections to
that xml guy; if he's put them in, the test should be fine now.

 3. What version is the test geared for?

It's about version 4.

Douglas,

I'm scheduled to take the MySQL certification exam tomorrow morning,
thus currently intently cramming with the MySQL reference manual and
 writing out study notes etc.

I'm not too worried as I've been using MySQL for years (although preping
for this has been a good exercise and I've learned a number of useful
things so far) but I wonder if anyone on this list has thoughts in
general about the certification test or has taken this test and would
like to offer any tips, hints, or cautions?

I've taken the Core exam, but that was a long time ago (November 2002
:-). Mike Hillyer has taken (and passed) both exams, and he's written
a nice summary about taking the Pro exam on his blog:

http://www.vbmysql.com/mike/blog/archives/09.php

If I do well on the test tomorrow, perhapas I'll post my study notes
on-line; otherwise I may change my name, retire to the countryside and
 take up raising mangel-wurzels.

Good luck!

Thanks, Stefan. Mike's article was interesting.

The test was a bit harder than I anticipated. I should have paid more
attention to column types and database name, among other things. But I
did pass - at least, the preliminary report said pass, but also said
that the exam will be reviewed and If you have met the passing score,
you will receive your official certificate by mail. This puzzles me,
because this exam isn't beta any more?

Studying for and taking the exam was a good excercise and I'm glad I
did. I learned things I didn't know about MySQL. Now I would like to
take the Pro exam.

I wrote out pages and pages of notes while studying. If anyone's
interested, perhaps I will post those online.

No, it's not. And don't worry, that's just some standard verbiage from
the test center. If your score report says passed, you've passed --
and you will receive your certificate in due time.

Studying for and taking the exam was a good excercise and I'm glad I
did. I learned things I didn't know about MySQL.
 ...

Yes, many candidates are surprised at the high level of the exam; both
the knowledge/skill required and the amount of information covered in
the Core exam are quite extensive, despite this being our first level
exam.

I learned things I didn't know about MySQL while studying is a comment
we often hear -- which makes me and others here happy, as this is of
course one of the main ideas behind having a certification program in
the first place.

Best regards,

/ Carsten

It's the Professional exam that is in beta.

Once you say you're done reviewing you should get a PASS or FAILED on the

Re: Core Certification

2003-12-29 Thread valentin_nils
Hi Arjun,

I have taken both exams (July and August 2002). The best advice I can give
you is to get your hands on the Mysql Certificate study guide coming out in
2 months (from Paul Dubois). I had the chance to preview bits of it and I
believe that it will be a VERY good help. Just read through it carefully and
playaround with the system at the same time to practice the read things. The
exam which I was taking was beta at that time. It was hard but fair I felt.

Take your time when reading the guide question the details mentioned (or
not) in the book to get a really good grasp of the subject.

Thats the best you can do, do get into the exam relaxed and without any
unneccesary pressure.

Best regards

Nils Valentin

Does
anybody have any general insights on taking the exam ? I am studying from

be
 sufficient.

I would appreciate any thoughts or comments from anyone about the

Re: MySQL certification [slightly-ot]

2003-09-29 Thread Carsten Pedersen
Hi Jennifer,

On Fri, 2003-09-26 at 20:55, Jennifer Goodie wrote:
I have recently re-entered the job market and I was wondering if anyone has
found that having certification really helps in landing a position. If so,
 which cert do you have?

I can only answer in general terms, but hope you might still find this
insight helpful... I have talked to quite a number of hiring managers,
and there seems to be some consensus regarding the following points,
when it comes to certifications in hiring:

If a manager looks at certifications, it's often the first thing he
does to split the candidates, with a view to look at the certified
people first.

While holding certificate XYZ will often make a difference as to who
makes it into the stack of interesting candidates, it rarely makes a
difference when deciding on the final runner-ups for the position. At
this time, your CV and personality are what makes the difference.

The value of a given certification also depends on where you are looking
for a job. In large corporations, where a centralized HR department is
involved, the people making the initial processing of applicants often
don't know (or maybe they don't understand) the details of what's being
asked of the candidates. To them, even an introductory certification
(like MySQL ABs Core certification) can make a big difference. Smaller
companies tend to look only at higher-level or specialized
certifications when hiring.

MySQL certification [slightly-ot]

2003-09-26 Thread Jennifer Goodie
I have recently re-entered the job market and I was wondering if anyone has
found that having certification really helps in landing a position. If so,
which cert do you have?

Just a few small note to qualify Stefan's explanations:

The mysql client as written in the list that you speak of in the
Candidate Guide on
http://www.mysql.com/certification/candguide/sec-core.html
does indeed refer specifically to the client program mysql (or
mysql.exe on Windows), so your interpretation of this is correct.

Client programs are indeed programs that talk with the server. The
server, however, is not the database, but rather the program that
manages databases (allow/deny access to databases and their tables,
modify tables structures, change contained data, etc.).

MySQL provides a number of client programs for various purposes, like
controlling the server, backing up databases, etc. One of those
programs is mysql, which is a command line interface (CLI).

The names of programs in a MySQL binary distribution can be somewhat
confusing: mysqld is the server, while mysql is the (main) CLI client.

I understand client side programs, examples being: mysqladmin, mysqldump,
and mysqlimport. These are known as mysql client commands also?

Those are client (side) programs, not client commands. You use those
programs to issue (client) commands that are sent to the server.

Hmm - Stefan, you need to read that particular page more carefully :-)

The line that is being discussed is this one, which appears as a subject
under The mysql client:

  * Differentiate between mysql client commands and SQL commands

In this context, a client command is one such as quit, rehash,
connect (They are listed on http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/mysql.html),
which is processed directly by the mysql program. An SQL command, on
the other hand, is an e.g. SELECT or INSERT statement that is sent to
the server for processing.

Note that just because a command is a client command, this does not
necessarily infer that no client/server communication takes place.

I guess when you say Q3 you mean the english version, will there also be a

I am not asking to pin you down really I am asking so that I can make plans.

I understand (unfortunately) that it is not you 3 guys deciding when it is
released. As far as I understand you have finished the text and it is now in
the process of proovereading perhaps and will then eventually come when the
publisher thinks that it is a good time to marcet point, right ?

Anyway to cut a long story short, I would appreciate if you could let me know

Or ...Perhaps you could even give a hint to the publisher that I would also

most. That would be marvelous, but we dont want to reach for the stars.. ;-)

Re: certification exam

2002-12-28 Thread Stefan Hinz, iConnect \(Berlin\)
John,

Has anyone been successful in signing up for the certification exam?

Yes. I took the exam (still beta at that time) November 26, in Berlin,
Germany.

I've entered dates going up to Jume 30,2003 to schedule an exam and
all
I get back is exam not available.

The V.U.E. registration website sucks, and I reported this to the people
in charge of the certification at MySQL AB. When I tried to register, I
got similar responses like you. The responses said things like not yet
available, not available between 0:00 and 24:00 h, not available
before December 30th etc. Whatever I filled in looking for a test
centre in Berlin yielded no positive result. I find this _very_
unprofessional.

So, finally I decided to try it the good old way - by telephone. A mere
10 minutes later I had a date for the exam the following week.

What the V.U.E. person on the phone told me is nearly unbelievable. She
said that some test centers do not want their exams to be listed on the
web site, or they do not want their possible exam times to be published.
Maybe it's true that they do not want to earn money, but I cannot
believe that at all.

Sad but true: All I can suggest is, go to
http://www.vue.com/contact/mysql/, find out the telephone number and
give them a call. At least it's toll free :)

Announce: Upcoming MySQL Certification program

2002-07-11 Thread Carsten H. Pedersen

Dear MySQL user,

During 2002, MySQL AB will release two levels of official MySQL
certification: MySQL Core Certification and MySQL Professional
Certification. This e-mail describes the upcoming program as
well as some of your opportunities.

Contents

1. The MySQL Certification Program in 2002 - an overview
2. Certifications are for version 4.0
3. Go for Beta testing and get ahead of the crowd
4. The ultimate Certification Preparation: Official MySQL
   training

1. The MySQL Certification Program in 2002 - an overview

MySQL AB is proud to announce the upcoming availability of two
MySQL certifications: The MySQL Core Certification and the MySQL
Professional Certification.

The MySQL Core Certification is aimed at the professional MySQL
user who wants proof of his or her prowess in the fields of SQL,
data entry and maintenance, data extraction for reporting, etc.
This certification will be released in the autumn of 2002. For
more information on the MySQL Core Certification, see
http://www.mysql.com/training/candguide/sec-core.html

The MySQL Professional Certification is for the user who has more
experience in the world of MySQL, and wants the credentials that
prove his or her knowledge in such areas as database management,
installation, security, disaster prevention and optimization. This
certification will be released in late 2002. For preliminary
information on this exam, see
http://www.mysql.com/training/candguide/sec-prof.html

The Core certification is a prerequisite for the Professional
Certification: You must pass the Core exams before you are able to
sign up for the Professional exam. Even though the Professional
exam might be what you are eventually aiming for, you should start
making plans for taking the Core exam already now.

For general information on the MySQL Certification Program,
see http://www.mysql.com/training/certification.html

2. Certifications are for Version 4.0
-

Both certifications will certify your knowledge and competence
for MySQL 4.0. There will not be a MySQL certification for version
3.23 or earlier releases.

This should, however, not present any difficulties. The user view
of the database has not changed significantly, and the extensions
and enhancements in moving from MySQL 3.23 to MySQL 4.0 are clearly
presented and documented on our website:
http://www.mysql.com/products/mysql-4.0/index.html

3. Go for Beta testing and get ahead of the crowd
-

You now have the opportunity to sign up for our Beta test program
for the MySQL Core Certification.

Your benefits of taking part in the beta exam program include:

* Beta exams and results are delivered well in advance of the
official publication date -- you will hold your certification
even before the program is officially launched!

* Your MySQL Core Certificate is just as valid as a regular
certificate delivered after the day of publication

* Beta exams are offered at a considerable discount

The downside is: You get to do more work (you must answer 2-3
times as many questions during a Beta exam), and you won't know
whether you passed or failed until some weeks later. Once the
program is officially launched, candidates get their test
results as soon as the exam is completed.

Read more about how to be part of our beta program on the MySQL
Beta Certification page: http://www.mysql.com/training/beta.html

4. The ultimate Certification Preparation: MySQL training
-

MySQL Training will be invaluable to you in preparation for the
certification exam. Learn more about MySQL than you ever thought
possible, and ace the exam!

Register for training now and be among the first MySQL users
with a MySQL Core Certificate! https://order.mysql.com/
