trouble finding WinMySQLadmin, and opening MySQLadmin
Hi everybody, I have Windows XP computer and I've installed Apache, and MySQL 5.0.18. I downloaded MySQL from: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/MySQL-for-Windows-Download-2668.html but the following problem occurs. According to the instructions in php and mysql for dummies (I'm a newbee) I should find a program called WinMySQLadmin, located in mysql/bin. First, this program is nowhere to be found (used start/find but nothing) I did however find the program MySQLadmin. Since WinMySQLadmin isn't there I thought it might work if I use the MySQLadmin program instead. According to the instructions I should be able to double click it so it wil open a new window. Now the second problem: It opens, but for a tiny fraction of a second. I've tried several other links to download MySQL but it's the same with all versions. What am I doing wrong? Best regards, Bibi
Re: trouble finding WinMySQLadmin, and opening MySQLadmin
Bibi, WinMySqlAdmin has been disocntinued. Try mysql/bin/MySqlInstqanceConfig.exe. Getting PHP to work with MySQL under Windows is a bit tricky at first, but once set up it's solid. For setup have a look at http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?52,70381,70628#msg-70628. RE: Bug in WinMySQLadmin 1.4
Having a multi-display system myself, I disagree with this being a bug. It's more of a lack of a feature, being multi-display aware Also, some multi-display software (matrox) tricks windows into it thinking it's one display with a _very_ weird pixel width (2048 x 768), skipping over window's internal multi-display support. WinMySQLadmin ?eating memory
I have just updated from MySQL 3.23.51 to 4.0.4 on my Win2000 Prof SP2 portable, and shortly afterwards noted some runaway problem was consuming memory. Left long enough, Windows eventually starts bleating about its amount of virtual memory; obviously things start to thrash, and apps gradually grind to a halt... I rebooted and got back to work but shortly thereafter the problem persisted/reasserted itself. Noting that my machine is comparatively small, I swapped C:\WinNT\My.ini for the my-small template. I rebooted and running no apps only started/inspected Administrative Tools, eg Event Viewer, Services, and Windows Task Manager. There were no errors in the system logs, nor did anything appear in MySQL's. However, once again something seemed to be taking a bite out of memory every few seconds. Question to ask: what's new/changed? Sure enough, when I stopped MySQL the memory was returned to the pool. Restarted the system again, watched the dials again, and again somebody's been eating my memory! This time I only got as far as stopping WinMySQLadmin, and noted that the stolen memory was released - NB I did not need to stop the MySQL service, it's still running happily. I've had a quick look around, but not noted any reported problems with this version of WinMySQLAdmin. Someone please point me in the right direction, =dn - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? Help: Problem creating db's in winMySQLAdmin
Hi everyone I have a problem: I installed mySQL yesterday on a WinXP Pro system and have used winMySQLAdmin.exe for most administrative purposes. According to the website and the documentation, I can create a new db from within the program by going to the Databases tab and right-clicking, then choosing Create Database. When I do that, however, my menu only includes four options: Flush Hosts, Flush Logs, Flush Tables, Flush Threads. Does anybody have any insight into this? Is this a problem with my install/configuration, a bug, a misreported feature, or what? I have been able to create and modify databases using the command line (mysql and mysqladmin), but this is, obviously, less convenient. Any help is greatly appreciated! -Ed Cottrell Ed Cottrell President Topsail Consulting, Inc. WinMySQLAdmin
When first used, the WinMySQLAdmin program puts up a box requesting Username and Password. Can anybody tell me what this is intended to do? Normally leave it blank, but when someone else did not do so, it created an unwanted user with a forgotten password in the database. Furthermore, when we uninstalled and reinstalled MySQL, the user/password came back. What does this name/password do? Where does WinMySQLAdmin hide it so that we can zap it if we need to? Re: Prevent WinMySQLAdmin from auto startup when windows 98 reboots
You may need to search the Windows registry if WinMySQLAdmin is not in your startup folder. Run regedit and search for 'WinMySqlAdmin', and if the key is something like 'Run', then remove it. Each time that I reboot and logon to my windows 98 server, WinMySQLAdmin starts and then starts mysqld. I do not want this behavior (acting like a service). What do I need to do to prevent this, including uninstalling WinMySQLAdmin, which I have not figured out how to do? When I remove my.ini from C:\Windows and reinstall C:\my.cnf, then the my.cnf gets renamed to my_cnf.bak and a minimal C:\Windows\my.ini is created when I reboot. Is there a flag for the [WinMySQLAdmin] section in the my.ini file that I can declare which will instruct WinMySQLAdmin not to auto start when the computer is rebooted? A way to run winmysqladmin for both 4.0 and 3.2
I recently downloaded both versions of mysql and would like to run both on my computer at once for comparison purposes. My question is can I do this using both winmysqladmin's. It seems that both products attempt to overwrite the my.cnf file in C:\Windows, and I was wondering if there is some sort of command line argument I could use to make them use a different configuration file? - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? Problem with WinMySQLAdmin on NT
I'm having problems with WinMySQLAdmin. Please could anyone advise. MySQL 3.23.42-nt is installed by Administrator on NT 4.0 SP6 machine in D:\Program Files\MySQL. It has to be installed by Administrator in order to create and start the MySQL NT service. The service is created and starts OK. All installs OK and WinMySQLAdmin creates a my.ini file in %SYSTEMDIR% (in our case C:\winnt40) with the entries: [mysqld] basedir=D:/Program Files/MySQL datadir=D:/Program Files/MySQL\data [WinMySQLadmin] Server=D:/Program Files/MySQL/bin/mysqld-nt.exe user=martin password=shuush! # No, that's not the real password! WinMySQLAdmin shows the Environment, MyODBC and Server information on the Environment tab page and the Green light goes on. If I log on as another user and run WinMySQLAdmin only shows the Environment information, no MyODBC nor Server information and the red light stays on. The NT service is still running and the command line utilities suggested in the manual (2.6.2.3, including MySQLAdmin) show that the server is running and is accessible. So why won't WinMySQLAdmin work for a different user? The user in the my.ini file does exist in mysql.user with Host='%' and %_priv ='Y'. The error file contains 'MySql: ready for connections' but none of the other tabbed pages have any information. Regards, Miguel Having trouble with e-mail servers this morning and not sure if my subscription request made it. If this has been reported already or is the incorrect mailing list for this issue, please excuse and point me in the right direction. Had a internet connection failure last night and due to what appears like it could be a bug in YATS32, it set the clock on my server ahead by about 3500 seconds every hour, putting my real time clock into na-na land. The server thought it was Aug 17th. This server also happens to run the mySQL server. I corrected the internet connection problem and rebooted the machine. It got hold of the time host and everything is back to normal except that now I have dozens and dozens of system message windows from WinMySQLAdmin 1.0 saying: '4294683874' in not a valid integer value. Where the number is a constantly decreasing value. A new message is created every server query interval time, which by default is ten seconds. It seems that WinMySQL Admin doesn't like calculating server up time backwards and it never corrects itself. Needless to say this results in a lot of system message dialog boxes marching across the screen if one doesn't sit there and dismiss them as they pop up! :\ I set the server query interval to 5000 seconds and I'm hoping that it will correct itself when Friday rolls around. If anyone knows any magic registry manipulation I could safely do to correct this before Friday, I'd appreciate any pointers to FAQ entries or whatever. WinMySQLAdmin 1.0
Having trouble with e-mail servers this morning and not sure if my subscription request made it. The above behavour can be caused by corrupted table. If however, the above DELETE always crashes our latest 3.23.39 binary, you should prepare a repeatable test case and send it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sorry, the bug was not about MySQL, but WinMySQLadmin 1.1 Write in the mail that you have checked the reference manual and mail archive so others know that you have tried to solve the problem yourself. Ok, I'll write that I checked the manual. 2) ALWAYS use mysqlbug when posting questions about a MySQL version you are using! mysqlbug is for bug reports AND questions. Sorry, I looked for it, but I didn't find mysqlbug. 3) Send the bug report to the right mailing list. (See http://www.mysql.com/documentation/lists.html). If you are unsure you should use [EMAIL PROTECTED] The manual says to send it to this list only when using the right format, which I didn't do. Also, which is the list for WinMySQLadmin-bugs? 4) Include a full example for the problem, including a full test case with all responses/error messages. Which is what I did, although I missed that I could have uploaded the table to your site instead of offering it to download from my site - but anyway, you should be able to reproduce the problem. -- Herzlich Werner Stuerenburg _ ISIS Verlag, Teut 3, D-32683 Barntrup-Alverdissen Tel 0(049) 5224-997 407 · Fax 0(049) 5224-997 409 http://pferdezeitung.de - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? Newbie problem with winmysqladmin
Hi All, I am new to MySQL and have a problem using winmysqladmin. MySQL is working fine, which I can access the database from my Java apps. However, when I tried to use winmysqladmin to obtain my db and table info, winmysqladmin never connects with MySQL and I can't obtain the info. In addition, beside winmysqladmin, what other gui program will allow me to obtain those info? If anybody can give me a direction to where I should look into, that would be great and appreciated. Thank you. Best regards, Michael Tam

How did you get MySQL up and running on your PC? I am trying to get MySQL running on my PC and I cannot find out how to even start it. Is there an installation manual in the files? Is there a manual on how to use MySQL in the files? WinMySqlAdmin
Using version 3.23.36 on Win98 I see a problem with the new tool. On the databases tab I can view the databases and their tables in a tree view. If, in the right hand pane, I select my table, and wish to view its fields, I expect to see the field names, their datatypes, and other field-related information in a 7-column table-like display below called "Table Columns". Each row of this display corresponds to a field in the table. Those 7 columns are not resizable, but the main problem is that only six columns of information about each field are pulled from my table, therefore the field name of my second field falls into the wrong column in the "Table Columns" display (which incidentally is mis-spelled "previleges". Should be priveleges). Oops! - pablo alonso, ventura, ca.

And if you let me know the most proper mail-address for such feedback mails, i will use that address with pleasure. Now lets turn back to the point; The Winmysqladmin was active and the server was started. Then I wrote a pgm thats creating a database (CREATE DATABASE ...). As a checkpoint i put the error messages statement in my program and i saw that its created and when i try to run the pgm again, i saw the error message saying its already created. Also i created a table in this db and its ok, its created and when i try to run the same pgm, again i took the same message about my re-creation attemp. BUT at the same time i was checking (many times)the Winmysqladmin's databases tab and i couldnt see neither the db i created nor the table naturally. Coincidentially, it appeared later; I wanted to create a db not by sql statement in pgm, but explicitly at the databases page of Winmysqladmin. I tried to create a db with the same name i have created before (and couldnt see on the db page of Winmysqladmin but took the message in my pgm about its existance). Surely i couldnt create and i tried another not-existing db name, it was ok, its created and appeared on the db page of Winmysqladmin. Right at that time i saw that the former one appeared as well! Great! :) Also when i shut down the both server and service and restart them, i saw it appeared. Another point; when i want to shut down both the server and the service, server led(or lamp) is turning to red immediately, its ok...but the administrator icon doesnt disappear for a couple of minutes (in general around 3 minutes), sometimes never disappears. I found out the solution coincidentially: when i get my mouse over the icon, then it disappears immediately! If its a bug, its a very cute one! :) Maybe a little feedback , but maybe useful as well... By the way, thank you for this product.
