I don't know about the sizes, but every csname defined by amsfonts and
amssymb is covered.

Hi,

Thanks Hans. It works for me :) Relating the output (\blacktriangleright and
\blacktriangle) to some figure I have created with latex + tikz I do not see
any difference.

To make it short: I think Hans is correct. From my perspective there is an
error in char-def.lua for "blacktriangleleft" and secondly the internet page I
have looked this up is not consistent with what is implemented in ConTeXt, both
facts of which lead me into the wrong direction (see below (P.S.), if you are
interested).

Both,

http://www.unicodemap.org/details/0x25B2/index.html

and

http://www.unicodemap.org/details/0x25BC/index.html

look consistent to "\blacktriangleright" (which I am already using in my
document):

http://www.unicodemap.org/details/0x25B6/index.html

Cheers,
Andreas

P.S.: When I started to look into this I thought it might be possilble to
define some command in the preamble of my document that uses unicode. From
searching the internet I found

http://www-sop.inria.fr/marelle/tralics/doc-b.html

which says "The \blacktriangle command is valid only in math mode. Its
translation is ▴ (Unicode U+25B4, ▴)".

However, there indeed is a problem (which I have not spotted in the first
place). I had a look at char-def.lua which at first confirmed my impression on
using small triangels:

 [0x25B8]={
  category="so",
  description="BLACK RIGHT-POINTING SMALL TRIANGLE",
  direction="on",
  linebreak="al",
  mathclass="bin",
  mathname="blacktriangleleft",
  unicodeslot=0x25B8,
 },

However, this is not consistent with what you can find on the internetpage from
above, since it "0x25B8" should be "blacktriangleright"

"The \blacktriangleright command is valid only in math mode. Its translation is
▸ (Unicode U+25B8, ▸)."

Secondly, the \triangleleft, which I have not used before, does not work (at
least for me ConTeXt ver: 2012.07.10 09:52 MKIV fmt: 2012.7.15 int:
english/english):

simple example:

\starttext
$\blacktriangleleft$ % does not appear
$\blacktriangleright$ % works
\stoptext

For the blacktriangleright we have:

 [0x25B6]={
  adobename="blackrightpointingtriangle",
  category="so",
  cjkwd="a",
  description="BLACK RIGHT-POINTING TRIANGLE",
  direction="on",
  linebreak="ai",
  mathclass="bin",
  mathname="blacktriangleright",
  unicodeslot=0x25B6,
 },

which is _not_ consistent with "The \blacktriangleright command is valid only
in math mode. Its translation is ▸ (Unicode U+25B8,
▸)."

However, looking at http://www.unicodemap.org/details/0x25B6/index.html and
given the fact that "blacktriangleright" works nicely, I'd assume that Hans is
correct and it indeed is not the small ones but the big tirangles.

2012-07-17 Thread Rogers, Michael K
Here's a backward-compatibility hack that works on your minimal example. Maybe
it will save the dozens of files without changing all the &s:

\let\oldstartalign=\startalign
\let\oldstopalign=\stopalign
\let\oldbs=\\
\def\startalign{\catcode`&=4\let\\=\cr\oldstartalign}
\def\stopalign{\oldstopalign\catcode`&=12\let\\=\oldbs}
\starttext
This \& that & the other thing:
\startformula \startalign
v &= u + at \\
h &= ut + \frac12 gt^2 \\
\stopalign \stopformula
That \& this & yet another thing.
\stoptext

Hope that helps.

The unicodeslot is consistent to what I've found in the famous WWW

Same goes for

For opentype math fonts, have a look at char-def.lua. To add missing
symbols, you need to add appropriate fields in the lua table.

The hard part is verifying the symbol to unicode slot mapping (the list
at tralics is not always consistent with the ams list that is used by
unicode-math package). If you know the right mappings, add a patch to
char-def.lua and send it to the list (or the dev-context list);
otherwise, just send the mappings and I can add them to the lua table.

keep in mind that not all those black triangles in ams math ended up

AFAIK all ams symbols are in Unicode now (I know because the STIX LaTeX

Also the black triangles left and right (in ams compatible font sizes)?

(Last time I messed with it I had to get them from the navigational
symbol font).

AFAIK all ams symbols are in Unicode now (I know because the STIX LaTeX
support covers them all from STIX Unicode fonts).

For opentype math fonts, have a look at char-def.lua. To add missing
symbols, you need to add appropriate fields in the lua table.

The hard part is verifying the symbol to unicode slot mapping (the list
at tralics is not always consistent with the ams list that is used by
unicode-math package). If you know the right mappings, add a patch to
char-def.lua and send it to the list (or the dev-context list);
otherwise, just send the mappings and I can add them to the lua table.

keep in mind that not all those black triangles in ams math ended up in
unicode

(future lm/gyre fonts might have some of these symbols)

Re: [NTG-context] math symbol: blacktriangle

2012-07-17 Thread Andreas Mang
Hi Aditya,

Thanks for the advice. As I am a newby, I'd decided to respond to the list:

I had a look at "char-def.lua" and I think the only thing that needs to be done
is to add

mathname="blacktriangle",

to

[0x25B4]={
  adobename="blackuppointingsmalltriangle",
  category="so",
  description="BLACK UP-POINTING SMALL TRIANGLE",
  direction="on",
  linebreak="al",
  unicodeslot=0x25B4,
 },

The unicodeslot is consistent to what I've found in the famous WWW

http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/25b4/index.htm

Same goes for

 [0x25BE]={
  category="so",
  description="BLACK DOWN-POINTING SMALL TRIANGLE",
  direction="on",
  linebreak="al",
  unicodeslot=0x25BE,
 },

with mathname="blacktriangledown" under the assumption you'd like to be
consistent with the naming convention of latex.

Right?

Cheers,
Andreas

[NTG-context] math: diagonal dots

2012-07-16 Thread Andreas Mang
Dear all,

It seems that the \ddots in "modern" is mapped to the wrong Symbol:

%
\setupbodyfont[modern,12pt]

\starttext
$\ddots$
\stoptext
%

System: ConTeXt ver: 2012.07.10 09:52 MKIV

result: three dots from bottom left to top right (corresponds to \iddots (which
btw. does not exist in context, as it seems))

expected result: three dots from top left to bottom right

Seems just to be the case for "modern".

[NTG-context] itemize behaviour

2012-07-03 Thread Meer, H. van der
I do not understand the workings of the itemize.
What I want is two nested itemlists. The outer one unpacked, the inner one
packed. In the inner one the itemlist should be joinedup with the text before
it.
I do not get this working, see the examples. The inner list is separated from
the "Intro to inner list". It looks like the joinedup in the second example has
no effect, because deleting it makes no difference. Switching the joinedup over
to the outer itemize in the third example pulls everything together and
destroys the unpacked of the first list.

How to achieve the following?

When you want to change the quotation marks it’s better to change them with
\setuplanguage
and set the right sign for the current level with \symbol[…quotation] and
\symbol[…quote].

\setuplanguage
  [de]
  [ leftquotation=»,
   rightquotation=«,
leftquote=›,
   rightquote=‹]

\mainlanguage[de]

\starttext

text \quotation{text} text \quote{text} text

text \quotation{text \quote{text} text} text

text \quotation{text \quotation{text} text} text

\setupdelimitedtext[quotation:1][left={\symbol[leftquotation]},right={\symbol[rightquotation]}]
\setupdelimitedtext[quotation:2][left={\symbol[leftquote]},
right={\symbol[rightquote]}]

text \quotation{text \quotation{text} text} text

\stoptext

BTW: There is a change in the way how to set the values for a certain delimited
text level in MkIV as shown above.

When you the head and the itemize entries are on the same level you can’t
change/remove it because
head uses the normal item symbol but when you move the entries at a deeper

That of the fontfallback sounds nice, allthough I fear it will be a lot of
work, even for the currently popular fonts and for my favorite, lucidaot. I
guess I will be not much of a helping hand here, because it seems to be tied to
typescripts: one of the regions I have always feared. I could not find the
definefontfallback mentioned in the wiki.

Is there any hope (how faint it might be) that someone will sweep through the
typescripts and fix this?

The symbol does not appear in text mode because the normal font doesn’t contain
it, only the math font does.

You can see the symbol in your text editor (or in many cases the OS) because it
takes it from another font which has it. ConTeXt shows only the symbols which
are in your font but you can set fallback font with the \definefontfallback
command.

The symbols are just put in named groups and “martinvogel 2” is the name of one

When you define a symbol you can set the name as

When you have many symbols which you want to put in a category you can say

   \startsymbolset []

   \stopsymbolset

The proper way would be to use ConTeXts symbol mechanism. I guess
the symbols can then be accessed my name. However, I didn't find the
laundry symbol names in any MkIV file in the distribution. It seems
that nobody maintained an up-to-date list.

You can always access the characters directly:

\getglyph{marvosym}{\char 247}

To find out which symbols are at which slot, use

\showfont [marvosym]

When you print all footnotes entries in a single paragraph the inbetween
parameter from \setupnote
is used to add something (can be a horizontal space or a symbol etc.) between
the individual notes.

The inbetween parameter from \setupnotation is used when you have the setup
\setupnotation[alternative=top].

Add \setupnotation[footnote][display=no] and the example will work.

It’s a bug because in the following example even the space between the notes is
too big,
it should be 5mm but actually it’s 10mm.

\setupnotation[footnote][before={\blank[5mm]},after={\blank[5mm]}]

\starttext \showframe
\dorecurse{5}{foot\footnote{note} }
\stoptext

[NTG-context] Zapf Dingbats font

2012-06-01 Thread Alfredo Catalina
Can the Zapf Dingbats font be used in MKIV? I can't do it work

I have downloaded the
symb-uni-zapf.zip<http://dl.contextgarden.net/websitesarchive/atl/tex/symb-uni-zapf.zip>
file
from http://dl.contextgarden.net/websitesarchive/atl/tex/. Then I unpacked
it and copied the .tfm, .enc and .map files in texmf-context/fonts as well
as symb-uzd.tex in texmf-context/tex/context/third

I then run

mtxrun --script fonts --reload
and

context --generate

I tried

usetypescriptfile[symb-uzd.tex]
\usesymbols[uzd]

\symbol[Unicode Shadowed Shapes][LowerRightDrop-shadowedWhiteSquare]

but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks for this quick enhancement, works now! Just for completeness: How do I
change the distance between bullet and item text in your original suggestion?
Adding 'width=' here does not change anything:

\setupletterdescription
 [enclosure]
 [
location=top,
leftmargin=1em,
width=5pt,
symbol=bullet

ConTeXt has a empty symbol with the name “none”.

\setupitemize[each][symbol=none,width=0pt,distance=0pt]

I uploaded a new revision which doesn’t insert an extra space when you use
“symbol=none”.

Thanks, Wolfgang, got that working now. But I'd like to change the formatting
of the list further from

encl:
 * One
 * Two
 * Three

to

encl: One
  Two
  Three

without symbols. So I tried:

 \setupletterdescription [enclosure] [symbol=bullet]

This did not work so I tried:

 \definesymbol[nosymbol][{}]
 \setupletterdescription [enclosure] [symbol=nosymbol]

But that results in:

encl: One
  Two
  Three

I cannot remove the extra space with:

 \setupletterdescription [enclosure] [symbol=nosymbol,distance=0em]

Note, that this works:

\setupitemize[each][fit][distance=0em]
\startitemize
  \item no extra space before bullet
\stopitemize

--> *no extra space before bullet

However, it does not work with an enumeration once the symbol was removed:

\setupitemize[each][fit][symbol={},distance=0em]
\startitemize
  \item item
\stopitemize

-->  item

It does work but you need MkIV:

\usemodule[letter]

\setupletterdescription
  [enclosure]
  [
 location=top,
 leftmargin=1em,
 symbol=bullet,
  ]

\setupletter
  [enclosure={list:One,Two,Three}]

\startletter
\input knuth
\stopletter

Re: [NTG-context] How to typeset recipe symbol for a doctor's prescription pad

2012-05-29 Thread Mojca Miklavec
Dear Joel,

For the next time, PLEASE don't try to reply to digest. Please, also
don't try to reply to unrelated messages by changing their subject
(just because it is easier that placing email of the mailing list into
a new template) since that confuses message archives completely.

Please, always start a NEW message for a new topic and write or copy-paste
ntg-context at ntg.nl
into the appropriate field. Don't try to cheat by replying to
unrelated messages.

(And even if you absolutely must do that, then please, at least DELETE
everything else that is not related.)

In particular - in case that you are reading ConTeXt mailing list in
digest mode, please don't reply to digest, leaving thirty other
unrelated messages in the same post. When using digest mode it might
also help to add yourself to CC in your own message or to ask people
to add you to CC, so that you get the answer directly, can reply in a
clean way and don't have to wait for digest to arrive to solve your
problem.

That is unicode 211E character, although in most fonts it does not look

couldn't find it.

Ah --- are you running mkiv ?
It's ok with mkii, ie
mtxrun texexec kk.tex

I need to check with mkiv, ie
context kk.tex

AFAIK, no.

The code that handles extensible delimiters changed, but IIUC
we are not talking about extensible symbol here.

[NTG-context] about \hangaround, defineenumeration

2012-05-19 Thread dalyoung
Dear all,

I defined enumerations "Theorem", "Proof", and "Example" as in the sample code.
It works fine, but I'd like to arrange it in better shape.

1. Theorem 1 and it's proof look good.

2. The proof of Theorem 2
i) when I use \startitemize it starts from the next line not
immediately after "Proof".
 Q: How to start the sentence right after "Proof"?

ii) after \stopitemize, it changes the line and put blacksquare at the
end. So, there is a blank line always.
 Q: How to place blacksquare at the end of the last line of the
sentence?

iii) leading symbol of itemize, "b" is inside the figure.
 Q: How to correct this or is it possible to place the figure at the
right side?

3. I'd like to put "Example" and it's number in a frame, but I couldn't. Is
there a way of doing that? Should I make a new command to do that?

Thank you for reading.

Best regards,

Dalyoung

Re: [NTG-context] Problem with \inmargin on \item lines

2012-05-02 Thread Rogers, Michael K
Hi,

It is not a bug. It is standard TeX: a space counts after "}" and is ignored
immediately after a control sequence such as "\item". To override either, you
have to be explicit, "\ignorespaces" as Hans suggested in your case and "\ "
(backslash-space) in the other to put a space in. My preferred, idiosyncratic,
pedantic way to ignore spaces in this case is a comment symbol and newlines:

\starttext
\startitemize
\item
This is just a normal completely innocent paragraph against which one will be
able to judge the amount of indentation of the next paragraph.
\item\inmargin{Duck}%
This paragraph has a duck inmargin comment
\stopitemize
\stoptext

But I like newlines in my code, probably because I started editing text on
24x80 crt that would show only the first 80 characters of a line.

Why so complicated, use \fancybreak without any argument and you get

But I also get the same error.

I don’t really need the fancybreak module, just an interspace

I thought I tried an older version, but perhaps not hard enough...

or you use this simple definition for the \Space command.

Thank you! Seems I was looking for \noindentation instead of \noindent

So, this is a treasure hunt!

I tried
\setupnotation[footnote][way=bypage,numberconversion=set 2]
and this works, (I just corrected the wiki)

sort-of:
If one manages to get a footnote reference at the bottom of a page,
where there is no room to place the footnote, and there is at least one
footnote reference on the following page, this results in two successive
footnotes having the same reference number (or symbol)!
This is a bug.

What about \startfootnote \stopfootnote and \autoinsertnextspace ?

Re: [NTG-context] Metapost/Metafun Q: using variables and "building blocks"?

Hello all,

I'm trying to create a system of describing certain type of braiding
patterns (fingerloop braiding), based on what has been used in the
field before me - but they did it all manually either by pen or
computer, and I just do not fancy doing 40+ patterns by hand in
Inkscape, especially as my pattern recipe book keeps expanding and I'm
planning on that, too.

I think Metapost could be the solution, because I need simple shapes
and sometimes complicated but well-regulated paths/arrows to go
between them; I'm just being a clueless newbie, too much in the
WYSIWYG vector graphics mode to really know what to do.

Mostly with the examples in the Metafun manual I've managed to get as
far as to my basic building block, two circles joined by a curve:

\startMPpage
path p, q, r ;

p := fullcircle scaled 8mm ;
q := p shifted (0cm,24mm) ;
r := center p .. (12mm,12mm) .. center q ;

pair pr, qr ;

pr := p intersectionpoint r ;
qr := q intersectionpoint r ;

r := r cutbefore pr cutafter qr ;
r := r cutends 0.2mm ;

draw r withpen pencircle scaled 0.2mm withcolor black ;
draw p withpen pencircle scaled 0.2mm withcolor black ; fill p withcolor white;
draw q withpen pencircle scaled 0.2mm withcolor black ; fill q withcolor black;
\stopMPpage

However, I don't seem to be able to find the answers to the next questions:

a) I need to be able to stack four of these on top of each other and
then four mirrored ones next to them (all-in-all a 2 x 4 grid/block),
and probably a 1-block space between the two columns. I realize I can
do that with "shift", but should I make my single 'building block' a
group, a buffer or overlay or something else? Keeping in mind that I
will have to be able to draw a path/arrow on top, so I need to know
where they are.
(At some point I need to expand to more columns, but the number of
rows is still 4 as we have humans have just four aligned fingers per
hand - thumbs aren't counted - but one can add hands i.e. people to
work wider braids.)

b) The circles p and q can be filled with the same colour or two
different colours, and each of the blocks in a pattern can have
different fill colour (e.g. two totally black, two totally white, two
half-and-half with either black or white on top). The pen/outline
colour should stay as black, which means that I can't implement the
symbol example in the Metafun manual (the smiley that is totally
switched from black to red).
I don't mind having different blocks for monocoloured and bicoloured
versions, but it would be nice to be able to say something like
\usesloop[lh,blue] for 'take a single-coloured left-hand loop in blue'
instead of having to dig deeper into the MP code every time.

I assume the answer is "use variables", but how?

something:

\startMPpage

def MyShape =
image (
path p, q, r ;

p := fullcircle scaled 8mm ;
q := p shifted (0cm,24mm) ;
r := center p .. (12mm,12mm) .. center q ;

pair pr, qr ;

pr := p intersectionpoint r ;
qr := q intersectionpoint r ;

r := r cutbefore pr cutafter qr ;
r := r cutends 0.2mm ;

draw r withpen pencircle scaled 0.2mm withcolor black ;
draw p withpen pencircle scaled 0.2mm withcolor black ; fill p
withcolor white;
draw q withpen pencircle scaled 0.2mm withcolor black ; fill q
withcolor black;

)
enddef ;

for i=0 step 2cm until 8cm :
for j=0 step 4cm until 12cm :
draw MyShape shifted (i,j) ;
endfor ;
endfor ;

\stopMPpage

there are picture variables, so

picture pp ; pp := image(...) ;

can be used

I used millimeters here because it just feels more natural to me,
that's what textile crafts does (when not based on inches like
quilting and scrapbooking...). The measurements won't be shown
anywhere - these are graphs or pictograms, not real pictures - so I
can still switch to using something else. Besides, if the "building
block" approach works, there isn't that much to be changed, get the
first block right and the rest can be calculated from there.

mm are okay, alternative use no dimension, just numbers and scale
afterwards:

currentpicture := currentpicture xsized 10cm ;

or so.

PS. Today's craft related metaphor: I feel just like I was staring at
a messed up skein of yarn: I know that I'm now holding one of the
ends, I thus can start to untangle the knot - and the more I pry
loose, the less there's left to sort out. However, in the beginning
the process tends to be very slow and awkward...

beware, metapost is addictive once you get better in it,

(btw, a talk about this will fit nicely in the upcoming eurotex theme)

different colours, and each of the blocks in a pattern can have
different fill colour (e.g. two totally black, two totally white, two
half-and-half with either black or white on top).

I used millimeters here because it just feels more natural to me,
that's what textile crafts does (when not based on inches like
quilting and scrapbooking...). The measurements won't be shown
anywhere - these are graphs or pictograms, not real pictures - so I
can still switch to using something else. Besides, if the "building
block" approach works, there isn't that much to be changed, get the
first block right and the rest can be calculated from there.

Any ideas on how I can achieve the ease that surely exists somewhere there?
I'll take plain Metapost or a combination of Metapost and Metafun +
ConTeXt as I'll use ConTeXt anyway to achieve multi-format output with
a minimum of fuss.

Help thankfully received, as always,

Mari

Re: [NTG-context] Changing navigation symbol

2012-04-22 Thread Markus Finke

When I run this example I don’t get the symbol unless I enable the indicator:

%\setupnote[footnote][indicator=yes]

This was an unknown option for me, it wasn’t used in the document.

My old ConTeXt ver: 2012.03.05 is updated now and without indicator=no
it’s solved now.

Thank you!

When you have a problem you should make a minimal example and tell which
version of context you’re using.

[NTG-context] Changing navigation symbol

2012-04-20 Thread Markus Finke
One footnote is placed on the next side because of lack of space. This
arrangement is displayed by a triangular symbol.

Is it possible to replace this symbol by a more appropriate
(self-defined) character or switch off this feature?

Is there a reason the make them into math commands, I think it’s better the
define them
as “contextname=…” to let them behave as in MkII where \textcomma is defined as

enco-def.mkii:\definecharacter textcomma ,
enco-def.mkii:\definecharacter textperiod.

What is textcomma supposed to do? I see that it is defined and used in
core-mis.mkiv and then redefined in char-def.

My guess is that \textcomma and \textperiod were defined to be
complementary to \mathcomma and \mathperiod, but this is not consistent
with rest of the naming convention. (\text... begin text mode commands

Does anyone use \textcomma and \textperiod in math mode? I would suggest

the \text* should be just . and , (no math)

I have no clue about the math usage. Just tell me what to patch.

Hey Wolfgang. It looks great. I'm assuming I'd stick the following in my

\setupnote[footnote][textseparator={,}]

Also, should it have been \setupnote or \setupnotation?

I suppose I could use it for now with the expectation that it will
neither do nor break anything, but that when it is included in the
official distribution, it will work?

I am seeking the incompatibility of ConTeXt minimals standalone and

ConTeXt uses the type of the item group in the first level also for the inner
levels
and handles the inner \startblist as if it was \startnlist.

I just noticed that the last line of my code was

  \startnlist

when it should have been

  \stopnlist

It was correct in my code, but too much fiddling and trying things made it
wrong when I copied it across to the email. Even with the correct line in
there, my problem still exists.

Regards,
Malte.

[NTG-context] Problem Nesting defineitemgroups

2012-03-23 Thread Malte Stien
I have the following two definitions for bullet point lists...

  % Setup bullet point lists
  \defineitemgroup[blist][before={\blank[1ex]}]
  \setupitemgroup[blist][1][packed][symbol=1]
  \setupitemgroup[blist][2][packed][symbol=2]

... and numbered lists

  % Setup numbered lists
  \defineitemgroup[nlist][before={\blank[1ex]}]
  \setupitemgroup[nlist][1][packed][symbol=n, headstyle=bold]
  \setupitemgroup[nlist][2][packed][symbol=a, headstyle=bold]

They generally seem to work well, but when I try to nest one within the other,
like so

  \startnlist
  \item Foo
  \startblist
  \item Some bullet item 1,
  \item Some bullet item 2,
  \item Some bullet item 3.
  \item Assign an appropriate criticality.
  \stopblist
  \item Baz
  \startnlist

...I get unexpected behaviour as follows:

  1. Foo
 a. Some bullet item 1,
 b. Some bullet item 2,
 c. Some bullet item 3.
  2. Baz

I was expecting this instead

  1. Foo
 + Some bullet item 1,
 + Some bullet item 2,
 + Some bullet item 3.
  2. Baz

...(where "+" denotes the round bullet point). Is this a defect or am I doing
something wrong?

Regards,
Malte.

And for MkIV one can replace this with \setupsymbolset[text] because the “text”
symbol set defines a “blacksquare” symbol.

have you tried

\sym{\squarebullet}

I think the texts are generated from your PDF viewer because Reader.app on the
Mac
shows for me “Zur nächsten Seite” on the first page and “Zur vorherigen Seite”
on
the second page but with Adobe Reader I don’t get any tooltips.

1. You have to load the marvosym symbols with “\usesymbols[mvs]”.

2. There is no symbol with the name “zodiac”, only a symbolset with this name
which contains the symbols ”Aries”, “Taurus” etc.

3. Example:

\usesymbols[mvs]

\setupsymbolset[martinvogel 2]

\starttext
\symbol[Female]
\symbol[martinvogel 2][Female]

Hi all,

Also with the todays beta I am unable to get Martin Vogel symbols.

If \showsymbols[martinvogel 2] is used a long list of symbols is typeset, but
not what is defined as this symbolset.

Calling
\setupsymbolset[atronomic]
\symbol[zodiac]

does result in the text zodiac in the document.

Hints would be appreciated, kr

Thank you, always. At the moment, the baseline of the first line of the
margin note aligns with the baseline of the main text line. Even in the
general case, I think it would look better to have the top aligned.

In the margin ruby, this presents a slight problem as a second ruby will
now look as though it belongs to the next line. Is there a way to align
the top of the lines, or is there a hack that just shifts a margin note
by a few pts? (There is a "low" flag, but no high flag, I think...)

Thank you.

[NTG-context] Simple bibliography

2012-03-05 Thread Jaroslav Hajtmar

Hello ConTeXist.
Unfortunately, I give up. The standard way to use the bibliography fail
(output still is not sorted in the order they came citing). I can not
even after many hours of testing and experimenting get win. Therefore I
decide that I am looking now other ways. Does anyone have experience
with simplebibliography in contextgarden
(http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Simple_Bibliography)?

Solve someone something like that? Has anybody a simple minimal example?
From information from wikipedia I do not make functional example
(especially the first case). Second case is very simple and
understandable, but now I looking for a way to automate the sorting
(that the order is not what I require).
Or exist something similar? Can you please advise me a way to get the
better of a very simple bibliography without using standart bibliography
system of ConTeXt?

Sorry to inundating these bibliographic questions, but I need to somehow
resolve my problem in the near future and looking for every possibility,
where to get something that would help me.

Thanx Jaroslav

Here is my minimal example from ConTeXtgarden (second option).
It shows (without automation) as the need.

stopper=,
symbol=R,

\setupitemgroup
  [article]
  [

ConTeXt checks if the argument of \setupitemgroup has an assignment
(key=value), then it calls a version of \setparameters; otherwise it calls
a version of \processcommalist. So, if you use assignments and options in
the same command, the options get ignored.

All ConTeXt commands behave like this.

You can use

\setupitemgroup
 [article]
 [command=\blank]

That worked. Thanks.

Why do you expect \setuphead to change the way itemgroups behave?

Because I can't make any sense of the thousands of pages of ConTeXt
documentation scattered everywhere with little apparent rhyme or reason
to its usage and with everything other than whatever it is that I seem
to need present in them.

If you define a command using \define<...>, then you configure it using
\setup<>. Other than a few exceptions, that's how it is.

Use

\setupitemgroup
[article]
[color=...]

I tried that and it did nothing.

\definecolor[colour_text][r=0.754,g=0.516,b=0.324]
\setupitemgroup
   [article]
   [color=colour_text]

Minimal example?

I don't follow. What is the difference between this,

\setupitemgroup
   [article]
   [
 left={Article },
 stopper=,
 symbol=R,
 before=\blank,
 after=\blank,
 distance=0.5em,

Why is another \setupitemgroup being used here when broad,fit could have

Thats how itemgroup are configured. You cannot mix assignments (key=value)
with options.

\starttext

\startarticle

   \item Second article
\stoparticle

Again

How do I add an extra line after the header?

You can use

\setupitemgroup
[article]
[command=\blank]

(in this case you can remove the second configuration (the one with broad,
fit) or explicitly set width=0).

I tried adding another
\blank to the after parameter of \setupitemgroup, but it didn't seem to
use it.

\startarticle
   \item First article
   \item Second article
\stoparticle
\stoptext

Lastly, how do I change the text colour of the item header? I tried the
following to no avail,

\setuphead
 [article]
 [color=colour_head]

Use itemgroup rather than enumerations.

I'm just thinking of annotating one or two words per line, which in an
appropriately small font size could just be stacked at the end of the
line in order of occurrence.
Problems would only arise if one line contained 3 or more words to be
annotated, and the next line also contained one...

Would this be possible to implement? Would this just be a \defineinright?

This can be added but then you need a symbol (or something else) to see
to which word the annotation refers.

You can change the style of the base text with the “basestyle” key and
of the annotation with the “textstyle” key.

not always, if it looks ok to you you can just ignore it (or add

the same can happen with margin texts, where in practice the width only
