Didn't know about the public info url (PublicAppInfo).
Just tested and it correctly redirects to canvas if the user has the
app installed.

I'm a bit confused though since when the app is not installed
and I go to PublicAppInfo I'm redirected to AppInfo.

Is it safe to link to PublicAppInfo? I mean is this behavour final or
should we expect to changes?

Just a remark here:

Opensocial-client-library for java[1] is ready for Android. It has 2legged
and 3legged support, and if you know how to pack rpc commands think this is
the easiest way. A simple ant will solve your problem.

Just remember you will need to handle browser authentication when running

Just tested this and I have the app installed but I'm not redirected
from info to canvas.
I'm staying on info.

The XML is correct, so another possibility for failure is if you are
using certain trademarks in your description.

what is better then now - attract existing/new users to the info page
or canvas page?
(since canvas page url is sometimes hard to detect)

it will be cool also to do vice a versa: if a user lands on the canvas
page and the app is not installed - she is redirected to the info
page?
maybe I'm missing something - this behaviour has changed several times
already.

a user who does not have the app views it on someone else's profile (he

get when you land in the canvas view of an app on someone else's
profile and you don't have it installed.


The recommended practice is that applications should have a guest mode
in which the user can get a feel for the application without installing
it. Applications must not redirect guest users from Canvas Page to the
App Info page. Users who like the app in guest mode should install it
using the Add App button on the frame (the app can help by pointing
it out to the user, but the app must not force him to click it).

We're running the app reviewer right now. You should either get an
e-mail with app approved or with a proper reason for rejection. If
you get multiple e-mails for the same app, or an e-mail with missing or
absurd explanation for the rejection, please let us know.


If all goes well, we'll bring it back online this week. I know this has
been a pain for everyone, so thank you for the support.


@eros we should review _all_ apps on any given day, unless we stop the
service because we found something wrong.

Following this thread, and asking specifically about 3legged API calls, is
there a limit for sending scraps ? I´ve been testing some calls, and after
some time, got something like 'permission denied for your domain, try in the
next hours', which means is a kind of blocking system.

Since there isn´t any documentation about this, can you clarify if there is
something special in this case ? I got this question many times on
opensocial-br list and some customers and really dont know the answer.

Basically, I´m packing 500 scraps on a unique rpc call, and dealing with
captcha. When getting around 300 scraps sent, calling the api ~6 times, it
blocks and returns this message.

their app approval, and week by week we need send a message talking 
about one more week to fix.

We found a security hole in gadgets rendering that the app reviewer
should be blocking but wasn't. Right now the priority is protecting
the users, so no automated reviews. Again everyone pays for a handful
of bad apples.

Another headache is that the app reviewer takes too long to review an
app after it's approved for the first time. This is also in the scope
of this change.

We'll start sending automated e-mails about problems in the spec next
week, with instructions on how to fix your app. Basically it's the
same set of requirements we ask upon submission: that it has an
author, title, description, valid thumbnail, etc, and all resources
are reachable. I predict most devs reading this already have correct
specs, so the impact on you is likely to be small.

My target date is Monday noon BRT, if we manage to get this working
before that I'll reply on this thread. Again my apologies on the long
wait.

 Sorry everyone, we missed the deadline.

 These are trying times, we're under heavy fire from malicious apps. More
 important that having the app reviewer running is making sure it will reject
 bad apps. You can expect the app submission process to become more rigid
 before the year ends.

 More than that, I can only say we're focused on it. We're already
 dry-running the new reviewer, one that does all the work except update the
 directory. I sincerely believe we'll be able to run one round of real
 reviews tomorrow. Wish us luck. :-)

If an application which is a web portal, I think we can't use html

It's a coincidence, though, we've been making improvements to the
ranking pipeline as well. This one still needs some babysitting to make
sure it finishes properly, and it seems we fixed one more source of
hiccups. We have plans to make it more stable and run faster so it can
run several times a day.

Just to notice that this problems seems to be solved as the new auto
reviewer was launched. The apps listing is again gathering statistics
for my app and it returned to the listings.

As far as I remember, you will not be able to get an user directly like
this, due security restrictions. Also remember that it worked on sandbox,
but on live website it was showing a permission denied error (like yours).

A simplier way would be using OwnerRequest and ViewerRequest

Try this:

We reviewed all pending apps from yesterday. Things look good. Please
let us know if your app was incorrectly rejected due to XSS or
objectionable content.


Today we'll dry run a new reviewer on all apps, also the featured ones.
If things look good, we'll bring it back up and start continuously
reviewing apps again.

ELEX some applications are being approved.

Examples: kongfu, Forest Story, Guerra Tribal, Terranova, Reinos de
Dinossauros, Meu Cassino, Plantas x Espantalhos, Ilha da Fantasia,
Pandora...

I wonder why it only applications are being approved and we are here
in the forum for months and months waiting to get our applications
approved?

 We found a security hole in gadgets rendering that the app reviewer
 should be blocking but wasn't. Right now the priority is protecting
 the users, so no automated reviews. Again everyone pays for a handful
 of bad apples.

 Another headache is that the app reviewer takes too long to review an
 app after it's approved for the first time. This is also in the scope
 of this change.

 We'll start sending automated e-mails about problems in the spec next
 week, with instructions on how to fix your app. Basically it's the
 same set of requirements we ask upon submission: that it has an
 author, title, description, valid thumbnail, etc, and all resources
 are reachable. I predict most devs reading this already have correct
 specs, so the impact on you is likely to be small.

 My target date is Monday noon BRT, if we manage to get this working
 before that I'll reply on this thread. Again my apologies on the long
 wait.

Sorry everyone, we missed the deadline.


These are trying times, we're under heavy fire from malicious apps.
More important that having the app reviewer running is making sure it
will reject bad apps. You can expect the app submission process to
become more rigid before the year ends.


More than that, I can only say we're focused on it. We're already
dry-running the new reviewer, one that does all the work except update
the directory. I sincerely believe we'll be able to run one round of
real reviews tomorrow. Wish us luck. :-)

If by UserComment you mean the section where you can input your
comments before sharing/promoting something, I see that that field is
present. It is possible that it may have been a temporary issue.
Please take a look once again.

However, the engineering team behind Share has recently been working
on fixing a few bugs and currently there's the option to Promote is
gone. I'll talk to that team to find out what may be the reason.

This would appear in the text box. The user can change it if they wish.
I would expect the orkut promote uc parameter to do the same. And it
doesn't seem to be working from the past few months.

future breakages from ever seeing the light of day.

word full in the URL For ex:

I also experienced this in the application I created. I tried the code
that is working in OpenSocial Dev App and it doesn't work on the two
apps I created.
The first app I used version 0.8 of opensocial and the second app I
used 0.7. This is the code snippet I get from OpenSocial Dev App

This situation is not happening anymore.

But I think that YouTube server have a bandwidth control that limits
the streaming channel, and sometimes (many times) the video streams
are not received.

Hello, I am having the same issue.

2) with safety filter=show all content, trying to access the app, I

3) with safety filter=do not show inappropriate content , I get This gadget
cannot be dispalyed* because of users age or safety settings
*by the way, there is a small typo in the error message above (dispalyed
should read displayed)

1) trying to access the app, I get warning - potential vulnerability in
this app  MaxiAmigos, after clicking on the warning message, I can access
the app
2) after accessing the app, app shows in left navigation

This is just my testing app, and fortunately I can still access it in
sandbox.orkut.com, so I can keep on testing/developing my app.

This looks like a previous issue, where my app was identified as a false
positive, due to the text Ages 18+ in my app description.

It would be great though, if you could unblock my app when you have some
time, so I can access it on prod.sandbox.orkut.com as well.

I am no longer receiving any errors when fetching owner or viewer
friends; however, the filters for

opensocial.DataRequest.FilterType.HAS_APP

is not working for me...have you had any luck?

I'm getting the malformed security token error when I am trying to
post an activity to my feed from within my app. i'm using the
prod.sandbox environment.

Anyone have any idea about this???

I've given the app permission to post to my feed, so I have no clue why
i'm getting this error.

Now that i've switched over from sandbox.orkut.com over to
prod.sandbox.orkut.com I am no longer able to access my persistent data
again. Here is the object that is being returned to me when I try to
get all fields:
