2007-03-14 Thread Peter Scanlon
Are there any other stations like ACB Interactive that allow broadcasters to
log in and broadcast their shows from all over the world.

Besides ACB I am aware of

www.worldwidebluegrass.com

which is exclusive to bluegrass shows. but thats only one genre that i like. I
wonder if their is a station that hosts various Americana and roots music?

2008-04-24 Thread TrueBlue & Proud
hi guys,
I'm wanting to use Winamp to play local Internet Radio Stations here in

There are a few stations like Radio Clyde FM, Real Radio fm, 5 live,
Sportsound Scotland Medium wave, where you get the footy.
I just want to be able to add them to Winamp,

2004-09-25 Thread pele West
Hi Everyone

Apologies if people have seen this message on another list. I sent it
to the Access-UK list, with little luck.

I have recently got broadband and am anxious to listen to all kinds of
radio stations without the constant interruptions that used to occur
when I had a phone line.

I am using Windows 98 second edition on a PC with a 2 GHz processor and
256 Mb RAM. I have Realplayer, Winamp and Windows media Player
installed. I use Window-Eyes 4 and JAWS 5.10.

I appear to be able to listen to BBC stations with few problems,
although recently i tried to listen to the cricket on the net and,
although it tells me I am listening to it, I can hear no sound.

If I try to listen to most other stations either it plays for a few
seconds and locks up or Realplayer or Windows media Player fails and I
see the message "Mainapplication Window".

One strange thing: I use Window-eyes or JAWS 5.10. If I use
Window-Eyes the station is more likely to run for a few seconds and
lock up the PC, if I use JAWS I get the MainApplicationWindow message.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Also, is it possible to use Winamp to play RealPlayer and windows media
streams?

Apologies for such a convoluted message, but any help would be
appreciated.

2004-10-30 Thread brian_dalton
Hi all,

I installed real player v10.5
during the instillation I noticed something about autofill. However, I did
not hear the full message.
I later uninstalled this as I wasn't happy with it.

when I now try and connect to radio stations on the web, I get a message
saying autofill media blocked option and when I press enter on this, the
station begins to play.
note, I did not get this autofil option message when trying to play radio
stations before installing real player 10.5.

after I uninstalled this, I ran add aware and it removed one piece of
spyware from my pc.

I went into security in internet tools/options but could not shed any light
on it.

has anyone any ideas about this autofil media blocking option?

Brian.

Desparate to find a way of listening to sports commentary in UK as when

Hi, Peter. Well, I'm getting acquainted with

www.live365.com

Which seems pretty blind-friendly, especially if you upload your programs
using Studio 365-Loader. You do have to pay a subscription to broadcast
(but not to listen, unless you want to support the broadcasters by spending
a little cash to be a premium listener.) I rather like it, so far.

Peace,
Kathy

Internet Radio receivers

2009-12-01 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used one of these stand-alone Internet
radio receivers? I'm thinking of one for a friend I know, he wants to listen to
Interstate and world radio but I'm wondering whether one of these may be a
better way to go rather than a full-blone computer.

Okay, so I'm assuming that - even at the best of times - one of these radio
sets would be an absolute pain in the behind to set up so just suppose I got
someone with sight to set the radio up to my friend's favourite radio stations,
would there perhaps be a way he could scroll between them, say using an up and
down arrow, preset buttons or such like, anyone got any thoughts on this?

I know what you're thinking, how would you know what the station was? Well most
of what my friend would want to hear have call signs associated with them which
are announced frequently, don't like one then move to the next.

Sirius Internet Radio

2006-10-23 Thread Lynn Schneider
I'm wondering if any of you Jaws users have been successful using
Sirius Internet Radio. I tried the three-day pass, but the site was
very Flash-intensive and I found that it was crashing Jaws when I
tried to close the player window. I really like many of the
stations, and they actually played just fine, but when I tried to
close my browser after listening, it crashed on a consistent basis
every time. I am using Jaws version 7.0, not the latest version, but
would gladly upgrade if that would solve my problem. Any insights
you can provide would be most appreciated.

Lynn

Aha, that would be why that is, there's a big difference between
tuner2.com, and tunes2.com.
I also got the popups. there were a whole bunch of them too.

Re: INTERNET RADIO

2004-09-26 Thread Christopher Maule-Oatway
Hello,
To answer your last question: no, you can't play real audio streams in
Winamp using the Tara plug-in.

As for the rest of your questions, I can be of little help, since I have
never had these problems. I am on NTL broadband, 750 KBPS. I am running
windows98 SE, and the processor speed is half yours. My screen reader is
Hal, and I use an external speech synthesiser. I have Winamp, Windows
Media Player 9 and Real Alternative on my PC, and all play internet streams
without a problem.

Some suggestions: make sure that the connection speed and buffering rate of
the players is suitable for broadband - no doubt you have done this
already, but it is always worth checking. Try turning off your screen
reader's voice before clicking on the 'Listen' link - perhaps the speech is
conflicting with the streaming audio. Do you get to a station from a web
site, or have you bookmarked the station in your favourites list? If the
latter, is the result still the same?

Hope this helps, though it is rather clutching at straws.
Cheers,
Christopher

Hi all,
I installed real player v10.5
during the instillation I noticed something about autofill.
I went into security in internet tools/options but could not shed any
light
on it.

has anyone any ideas about this autofil media blocking option?
Brian.

DAB & Internet Radio

2015-06-10 Thread Colin Phelan
Hi All,

I am relocating to Ireland from London and wonder if you can assist with my
pending Radio issues

Is anyone on the list resident in Ireland and using DAB radio's, will my
radio's purchased in the UK including a couple of Pure Sonas units work over
there?

Secondly, can anyone recommend a decent affordable fixed mains internet
radio and a rechargeable battery operated internet radio so I can simply
continuing listening to preferred UK stations?

I don't really want anything bigger than the Pure Sonas size unit for those
of you who know it

Many thanks for your assistance

Best

Colin

Another Internet Radio

2016-03-19 Thread Dane Trethowan

I have one of the new Sangean WRF27C Internet/Dab/FM radio sets.

This model also supports DLNA music streaming and spotify.

Before I get into the ins and outs of this radio I'd like to make one
point abundantly clear, if you want the best performing DAB or Internet
radio then stay away from a combo radio such as this one as you will
certainly be disappointed when compared to units specially designed for
the particular task in mind. This rule does not only apply to the
Sangean WRF27C but also to other combo units I've owned and used, its a
great shame but there we are.

Okay with that out of the way what does the WRF27C offer that the
previous WRF28D didn't? I've already mentioned the Spotify connect
feature and that's a great addition.

The WRF27C is smaller than the WRF28D so its a really nice mid portable
sized package that is thin enough to slip into a bag or brief case.

Controls are pretty much the same as found on the previous model though
they work somewhat differently. For example on the WRF28D a press of
the "Mode" button would instantly change the radios mode from Itnernet
Radio to DAB, then FM, AUX-in, Music Player and back to Internet radio
and would continue the cycle through these modes at every press. A menu
pops up when the "Mode" button is pressed on the WRF27C requiring the
user to use the Jog-Dial on the right hand side of the radio to select
the function and then confirm the selection by pressing the dial in, not
a terribly difficult task but to me a major change nevertheless.

So how does the radio sound compared to the previous model? Though there
isn't as much bass from the smaller speaker I still find the radio an
enjoyable listen particularly given that the speaker has nice clean
treble and excellent mid range characteristics.

The headphone output is excellent and in stereo for those times when
you're listneing to Music, DAB+ and so on.

Unlike the WRF28D, the WRF27C runs on 6 AA batteries which can be
charged in the unit. I'm very glad to say tha battery life in this
model has improved out of sight compared to the previous.

There isn't an Aux-In or a Line-out socket to be found on this model but
the line-out was so poor on the WRF28D anyway so perhaps its just as
well Sangean dropped this in the WRF27C.

Wi-Fi connectivity has been improved with the addition of the 5.0MHZ
band so.

The WRF28D had a USB port for music on a memory stick but this feature
has been removed from the WRF27C which seems rather strange to me given
the radio is a true portable.

So how does the radio go on DAB and FM? I had to perform a number of
scans before the WRF27C would recognise all available DAB+ stations in
my area so poor DAB+ sensitivity has carried over from the previous
model to this one.

FM reception is a joke unless you want to listen to processor noise from
the radio itself rather than good music.

The price tag is around about the same as for the previous model - about
$200 Australian dollars -.

I am working with my provider to try and improve the coverage in my house

consistently aand as the radio itself is not accessible this renders many of
the features not useable.

Thoughts on making Undok work appreciated.

VRS & Internet Radio

2016-10-26 Thread Colin Phelan
Hi Guys,

Seeing that many of you appear to be VRS users.

I recently considered buying one rather than another mainstream Internet
radio as a preference to listening to streaming radio stations on my I
phone.

I was initially told the internet radio on the VRS was simple to use and had
35 pre sets.

A couple of folk then said stick with your I phone for internet radio

Peoples views would be appreciated.

My main criteria is stable streaming, as an example my I phone cuts out much
more often than my static Roberts internet radio.

Where do we think the technology in the VRS sits

Thanks

Arcam internet radio accessibility

2013-11-23 Thread Walter Ramage
Hi All. back in July all my electronic equipment including hi-fi,
computers, radios, telephones, everything electronic! was fried when my home
was struck by lightning. It took around 8 to 10 weeks to get the insurance
thing sorted out and buy new equipment. I decided to take the opportunity
and upgrade my stuff and I now play my PC through an Arcam Solo Neo mini
system with Cord interconnects and cord speaker cable driving the B & W CM8
speakers. I have a higher end system down stairs in the lounge but for this
room up here it is adequate, in fact very good. It has taken me until now
to turn my attention to some of the facilities of the Arcam Solo Neo. This
unit has FM radio, DAB radio, A CD player; this CD player is what it says it
is, a CD player. It won't play MP3 discs but it has a USB port for a pen
drive so it is unimportant that the CD player won't play mp3 discs. It has
a power output of 75w per channel and has the ability to feed speaker
systems in different parts of the house, if that is your thing. The bit
that interested me the most is the internet radio so I set about finding out
if a blind, a totally blind person can access it. Via the unit it's self
the short answer is no as there is no verbal feedback and the menu system is
too complicated to memorise so unfortunately I can't use the main unit for
internet radio. The good thing though about it is when you do get into the
radio stations you can use your up and down arrows to browse through the
stations. However the positive thing is, although I can't access the
internet radio via the Solo Neo, I can do so through the arcam internet
radio web site. When up and running you can browse stations via location.
If you choose this option then you can scroll down through countries which
are put into continental blocks. So, if I scroll down to North America I
have the choice of Mexico, The United States or Canada. I chose the United
states. When in there the list is broken down into states and you are
informed by each state how many internet stations are available in that
state. For example; Tennessee had 63 stations but Virginia had 129. When
you click on the state you want then the list gives the name of the station,
what kind of station it is and location. When you click on play you are
connected immediately. You can create categories for your favourite
stations i.e. news, talk, music or sports etc. and these can be saved in
your favourites section. Interestingly what you do on the website is also
duplicated on the Arcam unit itself. So when on the website I've so far
created two favourite categories; Talk and Country. Now if I could use the
main unit I would find these options there also. The website is completely
accessible but the Arcam Solo Neo is not. If you have an Arcam product such
as the Neo then you have to get sighted help to register it buy inputting
the unit number and creating an Arcam account but it is fun not having to
search for internet stations on the web where things can be hit or miss.
Here you have a list of stations you can connect to with ease. I hope this
information is helpful. Walter.

frequency, tygerberg fm bosveld stereo just to name a few. Its fine to
be able to listen with a program such as ITunes, but how to find that
URL is the question. I no that once you have stations imported in
ITunes then its quite easy to get the direct URL, but if you don't
have it at all then I don't no. I see all the stations in tune in

thought that on the pc side there might be an app that can somehow

If you have the latest Victor Stream you can search for the station using

I just did but it found the station but did not start it.
I search for "south Africa" and got 51 stations.

Hi, have a look at Mike's Radio World. Don't know the link right know, but
you'll find it easily with google. You have to download the m3u or other

the Plextalk Pocket I just copy the play list files into a certain folder.
Maybe that's the same with your DAISY players.

Good luck,

Subject: Internet Radio receivers

Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used one of these stand-alone
Internet radio receivers? I'm thinking of one for a friend I know, he
wants to listen to Interstate and world radio but I'm wondering whether
one of these may be a better way to go rather than a full-blone computer.

Okay, so I'm assuming that - even at the best of times - one of these
radio sets would be an absolute pain in the behind to set up so just
suppose I got someone with sight to set the radio up to my friend's
favourite radio stations, would there perhaps be a way he could scroll
between them, say using an up and down arrow, preset buttons or such like,
anyone got any thoughts on this?

I know what you're thinking, how would you know what the station was? Well
most of what my friend would want to hear have call signs associated with
them which are announced frequently, don't like one then move to the next.

Internet radio DJ list?

2009-12-28 Thread Steve S
Hi list. I've noticed quite a lot of the subscribers on here are involved in
internet radio. So, are there any mailing lists anyone would recommend dealing
with internet radio DJing? Cheers Steve

Controlling Computer Internet Radio

2010-01-08 Thread Linda
A friend of mine asked me if I knew if there is a device that you could carry
anywhere in the house and hear internet radio, and from that very device
control the stations. I don't know what this is called, but wonder if you can
give some feedback on this as I had no answer for her.

Thank you.
Linda

that walketh not in the counsel
of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful,
but his delight is in the Law of the Lord,
and in His Law doth he meditate
day and night.
And he shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water
that bringeth forth his fruit
in his season.
His leaf also shall not wither,
and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper.

Apparently there is a tryal period in which you can try out the service, and
after that you pay for the service as a part of your membership fee. It is
only when the radio is activated that you gain access to the internet

Accessible Internet Radio devices

2011-03-28 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi!

Does anyone manage to use a standard Internet type radio device? by that I mean
a device which you just purchase from your local Walmart or local electronics
Retailer?

Obviously the user would have trouble setting the thing up due to the lack of
speech or other accessibility but just supposing you had someone set the radio
up to match your wi-fi network and they programmed some presets for you, I
can't see any reason why you couldn't scroll through those presets up and down
as you would with some digitally controlled FM radios which have been readily
available for the last quarter of a century, anyone got any views or had any
experience with this.

I'm looking at buying a "stand-alone" Internet radio for the kitchen though if
I can't get one that won't work at all for a person with no vision then I won't
be too worried, Ootunes on the Iphone and Ipad does a damn good job but I don't
want to be carrying them around with me everywhere if I can avoid it.

I did think about the new Plextalk Pocket which is supposed to have Internet
Radio accessible on it however I think it will be quite some time before we see
anything out of that company, unfortunately the whole company's location was
destroyed in the recent Japan earthquake.

Hello all.

I just want to report that a freeware Internet Radio Player, Screamer
Radio, is working very well with Window-Eyes 7.5. Unlike the other
screen readers, the entire menu system is read, including the pull
downs. Others either do not read the menus at all, or will simply speak
the word "menu" followed by the accelerator key, should you have that
enabled. All screen readers however read the menu bar just fine.

Take care.

recording from internet radio

2011-07-31 Thread André van Deventer
Hi all

Yes I know this subject has been discussed exhaustively on this list. But
there is something I have been wondering about.

Is there any kind of software around which would allow you to do the
following.

Set beginning and ending time for recording from an internet radio station
while you are not at home. And then the tricky one:

It must connect to the internet radio station when starting the recording by
itself and then disconnect when the recording is finished. This means that
the recording must be completely automatic.

Andre

The VRS has a robust library of radio streams you can search through quite
easily. I simply save them as Favorites.

I do hope one day they can add paid services like TuneIn and Spotify to the

RE: VRS & Internet Radio

The Victor second gen is other than sitting at the PC, the only streaming
device I use and I've never heard of only 35 presets. The presets are
limited to either you taking the time to find and save the presets or, you
installing whatever playlist M3U's etc that you've put together yourself,
but 35 is news to me. Note: just because I've never heard of 35 being the
limit, certainly doesn't mean that it's not the case.

Stations will slip in and out from time to time no different than most
streaming devices. So it's entirely up to you as are most other things
right?

Re: VRS & Internet Radio

2016-10-26 Thread Dane Trethowan

Hi!

I'm not a Victor Reader Stream user and I don't use my iPhone much for
Internet radio however I believe I use a far better solution than a
Victor Reader Stream will ever be and an iPhone is part of this - or
indeed an Android phone if you'd prefer -, the phone acts as the remote
control for my Sangean Internet radios and tuners here.

Yes, variations of these are available in America.

For Australia and Europe Sangean offer Multi Band multi function
Internet radios and - in Australia at least - there are four models to
choose from, two portable units, a tabletop music system and a Hi-Fi
tuner so choose the one that reflects your needs.

In The U.S., Sangean have the WRF28 or WRF28, as far as I know those two
units are battery portable sets.

The App for Android/iPhone is very easy to use and even mirrors the
display of the radio.

All Sangean models now come with Spotify Connect and the App itself has
been updated so the user can stream an iTunes library from the phone
itself to the radio.

Naturally there are a lot more details I could give about these radios
and their setups and I really should do another Podcast on the whole
subject, I did one 3 years ago I think it was but since then the whole
thing has gone ahead in leaps and bounds.

It shouldn't have any limits as the "Favourites" function isn't actually
a part of the Stream itself, - if all the other Internet radio sets I

Exactly yes but the list of favorites itself - unless I'm very much
mistaken - is stored online.

If the VRStream has done its work properly then you should be actually
able to access those Favorites in a web browser and configure them
manually, VRstream or no VRstream, all other Internet radios use this
service.

My main criteria is stable streaming, as an example my I phone cuts out

much

more often than my static Roberts internet radio.

Where do we think the technology in the VRS sits

These are two separate areas. Humanware does have some set stations for various
regions around the world. However, the individual user can create a personal
favorite by pressing the bookmark button.

Exactly yes but the list of favorites itself - unless I'm very much mistaken -
is stored online.

If the VRStream has done its work properly then you should be actually able to
access those Favorites in a web browser and configure them manually, VRstream
or no VRstream, all other Internet radios use this service.

Hi!

I'm not a Victor Reader Stream user and I don't use my iPhone much for
Internet radio however I believe I use a far better solution than a Victor
Reader Stream will ever be and an iPhone is part of this - or indeed an
Android phone if you'd prefer -, the phone acts as the remote control for my
Sangean Internet radios and tuners here.

Yes, variations of these are available in America.

For Australia and Europe Sangean offer Multi Band multi function Internet
radios and - in Australia at least - there are four models to choose from,
two portable units, a tabletop music system and a Hi-Fi tuner so choose the
one that reflects your needs.

In The U.S., Sangean have the WRF28 or WRF28, as far as I know those two
units are battery portable sets.

The App for Android/iPhone is very easy to use and even mirrors the display
of the radio.

All Sangean models now come with Spotify Connect and the App itself has been
updated so the user can stream an iTunes library from the phone itself to
the radio.

Naturally there are a lot more details I could give about these radios and
their setups and I really should do another Podcast on the whole subject, I
did one 3 years ago I think it was but since then the whole thing has gone
ahead in leaps and bounds.

One of Sangean's biggest markets is Europe and Europe use either DAB or
DAB+ which the Internet radio sets sold in Australia handle so I most
likely could answer any questions you have about these radio sets.

There's at least one model of Sangean I know of which is marketed in the
U.S. and that's the WRF28 and there may be more.

The crucial thing is here to make sure that - whatever Sangean radio you

The Victor second gen is other than sitting at the PC, the only streaming
device I use and I've never heard of only 35 presets. The presets are
limited to either you taking the time to find and save the presets or, you
installing whatever playlist M3U's etc that you've put together yourself,
but 35 is news to me. Note: just because I've never heard of 35 being the
limit, certainly doesn't mean that it's not the case.

Stations will slip in and out from time to time no different than most
streaming devices. So it's entirely up to you as are most other things

My main criteria is stable streaming, as an example my I phone cuts out much
more often than my static Roberts internet radio.

Where do we think the technology in the VRS sits

Recording Internet Radio Streams

2017-04-17 Thread Danny Miles
Hi. I'm looking for software that's compatible with Windows 7 and Jaws
14.0. I already have GoldWave but am wondering whether or not there is
something more specific for the job, such as software that records
from a given URL without having it playing through the computer via a
media player. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Take care, Danny

Dedicated Internet Radio Listening Devices

2007-08-22 Thread Kane Brolin
I recently have heard advertisements for a device, I think sold by C
Crane, which permits someone to select and listen to direct streams
live from the Internet, without the need for a full-featured PC. This
might be a great device with which to travel, because all one needs
(according to the ad) is a broadband connection and a wall-mounted AC
outlet.

How well do these devices work? With so many streams, format types,
and feed sources out there, how does the user interact with this
device to point to what you want? Is this at all feasible to operate
if one does not have eyesight?

Just curious,

-Kane

Re: Arcam internet radio accessibility

2013-11-23 Thread Dane Trethowan
thanks very much for taking the time to learn your radio and posting your
comments and feedback.

the web site and database you're talking about sounds very similar to the
Vtunes or Wifiradio.com databases that several Internet radios I have here use.

I'm wondering if your system has some sort of remote App that can be used on an
IOS or Android device? I appreciate that many people don't have or don't want
an IOS or Android device but - it seems to me - that as we progress down the
technology road, more and more audio and video equipment is allowing for remote
control for phones and tablets thus there's a huge pool of accessibility we're
able to tap.

listening to internet radio stations

2014-10-17 Thread Jerry Howell
Hello all,

I am using the stream to listen to radio stations on the internet through my
wifi. I also use the line in jacks on my living room stereo to listen to the
stream , as if I am getting the stations off the air.

How can sighted folks do the same thing? I hear that there are stand alone
devices that can play internet radio stations by using wifi in my home.

Internet Radio on Mobile Devices

2010-08-26 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi everyone, Mushroom FM is a fairly new Internet radio station that I run.
Already though, we're getting a great response, with over 3000 unique
listeners having tuned in from 127 countries in the last month.

We've had lots of inquiries about how to listen to Mushroom FM, which uses
Shout cast technology, with various mobile devices, so we've put together a
guide on how it's done. I hope you'll listen to Mushroom FM while you're
over there, but even if you don't, this could help with the stations you
listen to.

Hi Dane,

I have the jjSanyo r227 internet radio which I really like and think
it's great. As you say though, it does take a pair of eyes to do any
scanning or searching unfortunately. It has only eight presets, but
I have eight of my favorite station set in them. It's somewhat
limited, but if you pick eight of your favorite ones then it's not so
bad. If you get tired of any of the stations you can have a sighted
person help you to scan to find some others. I've had it for about a
year now and have never regretted buying it.
there are a lot of interesting stations out there just for the
looking. If you have any questions please email me.

Obviously the user would have trouble setting the thing up due to

Re: Accessible Internet Radio devices

2011-03-28 Thread Jim Noseworthy

Hello Again:

Once you have the unit programmed via the PC or iPhone, you can save your
stations in the available presets as well as sstore an unlimited number of
stations in your favourites.

As the setup of the radio is accessible through a web browser, you can then
allow only the favourites on your menu screen. The big problem with this
radio as that initially, you might require sighted help to set up the
network settings.

Cheers.

As the setup of the radio is accessible through a web browser, you can
then allow only the favourites on your menu screen. The big problem with
this radio as that initially, you might require sighted help to set up
the network settings.

Yep points taken but I'm looking for a totally "stand alone" unit which
can be put in my kitchen or such place.

Thankfully someone has done the hard work for me and written a
response to my initial question which has been published on this list.

Hi Dane,

I have the jjSanyo r227 internet radio which I really like and think
it's great. As you say though, it does take a pair of eyes to do any
scanning or searching unfortunately. It has only eight presets, but I
have eight of my favorite station set in them. It's somewhat limited,
but if you pick eight of your favorite ones then it's not so bad. If
you get tired of any of the stations you can have a sighted person
help you to scan to find some others. I've had it for about a year
now and have never regretted buying it.
there are a lot of interesting stations out there just for the
looking. If you have any questions please email me.

Dane,
On the Serotalk web site, in the Final Interviews from CSUN, there is an
interview about the Solutions Radio, a stand-alone Internet radio that they
say will be coming in July. I haven't gotten around to listening to the
interview yet, but it might be something to check out.

Hello:

If you have a SqueezeBox Boom internet radio, and an iPhone or iTouch, you
can have complete control of your radio. The radio can also be controlled
via the PC.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dane,

I have the jjSanyo r227 internet radio which I really like and think it's
great. As you say though, it does take a pair of eyes to do any scanning
or searching unfortunately. It has only eight presets, but I have eight
of my favorite station set in them. It's somewhat limited, but if you
pick eight of your favorite ones then it's not so bad. If you get tired
of any of the stations you can have a sighted person help you to scan to
find some others. I've had it for about a year now and have never
regretted buying it.
there are a lot of interesting stations out there just for the looking.
If you have any questions please email me.

Obviously the user would have trouble setting the thing up due to the
lack of speech or other accessibility but just supposing you had someone
set the radio up to match your wi-fi network and they programmed some
presets for you, I can't see any reason why you couldn't scroll through
those presets up and down as you would with some digitally controlled FM
radios which have been readily available for the last quarter of a
century, anyone got any views or had any experience with this.

I'm looking at buying a "stand-alone" Internet radio for the kitchen
though if I can't get one that won't work at all for a person with no
vision then I won't be too worried, Ootunes on the Iphone and Ipad does a
damn good job but I don't want to be carrying them around with me
everywhere if I can avoid it.

I did think about the new Plextalk Pocket which is supposed to have
Internet Radio accessible on it however I think it will be quite some
time before we see anything out of that company, unfortunately the whole

No, they didn't say which July. I was actually having similar thoughts,
recalling that there was supposed to be a Solutions Radio quite a while ago.
When advertised software never quite makes it to the market, they call it
vaporware. Is it the same for hardware?

it's a bit tricky to use, but hidownload platinum might do that. It's a
strange interface and requires the mouse cursor a lot, there is also sdp

streams, at least that's what I use it for. Those streams are archived
though so they start and end in the alotted time. Oh wait! again, kind

hard, or it was when I set up the thing, to get it to record the right
day and time. It kept messing up all the times I had given it because I
didn't know what time zone it was basing the times out of. So I stopped
using it, but it's been a few months so maybe that's changed.

Total Recorder will do this. It has a scheduler that will start and stop the
web transmision, it can even turn off your PC when the recording is done if
you prefer. And it's very accessible. However, it's not free. And, in Vista
or 7, unless you can use background recording, you will need to run it
through a 2nd sound card, or shut down your screen reader because there's no
way for Total Recorder to record the radio station without also recording
your screen reader. But if you're using XP, you're good to go.

itself and then disconnect when the recording is finished. This means
that

the recording must be completely automatic.

Re: recording from internet radio

2011-07-31 Thread Tom Kaufman
The standard version _does_ include the scheduler, but as far as I know, you
must already have whatever stream up-and-running! If this is incorrect,
someone please feel free to correct me!

Yes. I am almost certain that the standard version doesn't include the
scheduler.

Just so we're clear, you are talking about the "pro" version of Total
Recorder..right?

Total Recorder will do this. It has a scheduler that will start and stop the
web transmision, it can even turn off your PC when the recording is done if
you prefer. And it's very accessible. However, it's not free. And, in Vista
or 7, unless you can use background recording, you will need to run it
through a 2nd sound card, or shut down your screen reader because there's no
way for Total Recorder to record the radio station without also recording
your screen reader. But if you're using XP, you're good to go.

Hi all

Yes I know this subject has been discussed exhaustively on this list. But
there is something I have been wondering about.

Is there any kind of software around which would allow you to do the
following.

Set beginning and ending time for recording from an internet radio station
while you are not at home. And then the tricky one:

It must connect to the internet radio station when starting the recording
by
itself and then disconnect when the recording is finished. This means
that

the recording must be completely automatic.

I never got replay media catcher to work, if that's the replay that
you're referring to. Maybe I wasn't suing it right?

I have a great program called Replay AV which can do what you are desiring.
It is an excellent program for recording internet radio and other things. It
costs around $50 but it is a great investment.

Really? I couldn't get very far with it. Is there a tutorial or something on
the net to get me started? Also, when I made a recording, JFW was always in

Starting an internet radio station.

2006-02-07 Thread Nektarios Mallas
Hello list.
I am interested to start an internet station and I need some help
starting things up.
1. Is live365 accessible in terms of software for broadcasting and
working with the site?
2. Can I use winamp with plugins instead of their software?
3. Is there a better and more accessible service other than live365 to
try?
Any help and suggestions is very much appreciated.

Nektarios.
