Tamron-F SP Tele-Converter 2X KR BBAR MC-7, like new, Tamron Caps, no case, no

Pentax AF-400FTZ Flash with case, pristine inside and out, well, except for the 
velcro for the as yet unfound soft-hood, which I may find!. Used little.

Pentax 67 External Bayonet "Long Lens" Extension Tubes (3). Rare find if you've 
got any of that looong glass y'all been talking about for your medium format 
expeditions. Mounts to the "External" bayonet flanges vs the "Internal" bayonet 
flanges. Got it? Still in original wrappings inside the original Pentax leather 
case. Case has some cracks in the leather, but no splits.

Pentax LX Body, Finder, Fine condition, still has plastic on base. With Motor 
Drive, Battery Pack, Charger, caps. box, I think. Last CLA in 2006. No body 
batteries. Helps keep the battery cabinet clean. My batteries are only good 
enough to check out the camera's operation.

I also have almost ALL the LX finders (not the collapsible hood), 
6 Pentax LX focusing screensand one Beattie Intenscreen Plus, plain, Fresnel 
Optics 82410.

Even better: my K-5 was banned last night at a show because it was 
professional.  So that's official, now.  And instead I videoed the whole 
thing in semi-HD with the WG-1.


Next time I'm asked if my camera has an interchangeable lens, I'm going 
to say "no".

As long as you don't clip the highlights or the shadows the D800 files
let you pull out a tone of detail.

Count me as a vote for "slightly degraded, not worth changing because the
rest is so great, didn't even really notice it until other people
complained".  For me, it's the shadow of the right eye (with the eye

it would be worse if the lighting had been improved as some people
suggested.

Particularly in a collection, you are likely to have other shots with the
jukebox, so it becomes an essential part of the background feel.

That's an odd thing to hear on a Pentax list. The K-5 is among the best cameras 
one can own for indoor work.

northern Europe is lovely, and one doesn't often find such scenes in the U.S.

I completely agree about keeping it b&w. The image loses all its impact 
in color -- to my eye, at least.


As for the exposure issues, I've always taken a fairly conservative 
approach to fixing that kind of stuff, albeit purely out of necessity. 
Since I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to such things, I've 
found that most of my attempts to fix exposure problems end up rendering 
the image unusable. So, I generally opt to leave the flaws in (when I 
notice them) and hope they sneak by.

I do like the idea of putting together a book, though I still have a 
hard time imagining any one my photos hanging on a wall.


But, as a collection, I'm a little more inclined toward the idea. It 
could take me a little while to get enough images to try something like 
that, but it's definitely a goal worth working toward.

What I liked about the photo was the fact that it actually captured what 
I see on a typical workday. Once I saw the expression in his eyes and 
realized that I'd gotten what I was looking for, the exposure problems 
didn't even register with me until I started processing it. At that 
point, they didn't seem severe enough to risk ruining the whole shot 
with a ham-handed attempt at correcting them, so I just decided to let 
them stand.


I may still tweak it a little here and there, but not much.

I'll try. It won't be easy, though. I'm mortified by the thought that 
I'm going to produce a shot that I think is great, only to find out that 
it's crap.


So, I err on the side of crap when I judge my own work. That way, no 
disappointment.

Well, I don't own a K-5, I'm just renting two for my cruise next month
(for which this list has been a big help).  A large part of the point is
to decide whether I want to own a K-5, and I'm currently leaning toward
"too big and bulky", which pretty much leaves only the OM-D as an option
for interchangeable lens after hating the E-PL5 in ten minutes.  (Not
surprisingly, I'm really a DSLR kinda guy when it comes to controls, I
also disliked the Panasonic G3.)

Getting the Canon G1X would put off needing a systems camera for
low-light work, and I'd wait to see whether Pentax puts out a serious
mirrorless (K-01 not being serious enough for my needs, and of course
Q/Q10 aren't good enough for low-light work).  After two days rental, I'm
still waffling but will likely get the G1X, main sticking point is the
almost complete lack of macro capability (eight inches at 28mm equiv).
Rather spendy for what you get, but keh.com has used ones for less than
$500, which is what tempted me.

Don, nice work, great exposure and excellent detail (I did look at the
full res version:)  my only limited criticism would be that I would
love to see the stacks corrected for perspective "keystone"
distortion, the fact that all the elements aren't straight is slightly
distracting to me. You prompted me to go out and find a target to
shoot in the eve too!

Camera Shutter Count - All Makes and Models -

PESO fluorescent scarves

I was at Kohl's recently shopping for clothes, and noticed that they had 
fluorescent scarves on sale for $10 each, so I bought a bunch to play
with under black light.

PDML Photo Annual Update

OK, the 2013 Photo Annual is about 99% done. I have to get the
official URL for the Global Health Initiative program (if possible)
and also the new logo for the program. The logo hasn't actually been
decided upon yet: Dana-Farber has let me set up a competition between
our senior graphic design students to come up with one and that should
be finalized soon (there's only a week and a half left in the
semester!) I haven't finished the Quotations List introduction or the
Global Health Initiative update yet and I still don't have Doug's
Foreword yet but those are all text – I have all the photos and
graphics completed and formatted and that's where the real work is. So
I'll probably upload a prototype book on Monday without the missing
bits. In about two weeks (or less) I'll have a test print which I can
use to tweak the images. By that time we should have all the missing
text and I'l be able to upload the finished product.

So you should be able to order the book in about two weeks.

Brooks, it's only for professional cameras, starting with the *ist-D in Pentax. 
  :)

PESO - Queenie

Queenie has been a downtown fixture since I moved to Toronto in the 
mid-nineties. She has always walked hunched over her walker, often gesturing 
wildly with one arm, almost always talking to herself, sometimes screeching as 
she walks along. 

Looking back I am surprised, quite frankly, that she's still around. I guess 
she's tenacious if nothing else. Everyone calls her Queenie:

GESO Something for everyone

Hi Team,

I have been busy recently, on top of school holidays I've been busy
doing several projects and have really been putting some shutter
counts on my gear. I have pulled a few shots out that may amuse.

One for the industrialists:
