Re: OT - Abobe Woes
By market cap, but that only measures what the circulatiing stock is worth, not how big a company actually is. A bad trading day and Microsoft could be back on top, a bad trading week and Apple could lose half it's value, (the same is true for Microsoft, but that's beside the point). How much of that depends on the Magic of Steve Jobs. If he announced tomorrow that he'd have to leave Apple for health reasons would the stock nosedive? Apple hasn't made many missteps in product introduction in the last few years. Their stock price has hit the stratosphere, but that doesn't make Apple bigger tham M$ in any objective sense. Re: OT - Abobe Woes
I'll speak tio what I know, i.e., my personal preferences. I have a MacBook and a Dell laptop. The Mac is a nice computer but I'm not particularly attached to it. I also use my Blackberry/iPod Touch to access the Internet for email, weather, etc. since they are faster than the computer unless I leave the computer on all the time. I can easily see me getting a Windows based desktop system because they are nice to work on for photos, documents, etc. and cheaper than macs. I would also get an iPad or similar device for Internet access because I can sit on the couch and browse with more ease and comfort than a laptop. I would also have a smaller portable device that serves as a phone and fits in my pocket. Now the opinion: This is what most people actually want. The new addition is the iPad, because many people spend a lot of time browsing the net, going to forums, email, etc and an iPad on the couch is a tempting arrangement. I'm not saying Apple wins, and I'm certainly not an Apple fanboy, but as long as everything works pretty easily the great majority of consumers will show no loyalty whatsoever as long as capabilities are provided. . From: Brian Walters G'day all I've been a bit quiet lately because I'm on the road and in lurk mode. It gave me a bit of a chuckle. http://photomusings.wordpress.com/2010/05/29/more-adobe-nightmares/ Let me see if I can sum this up succinctly ... y'all correct me if I get it wrong. The guy had a functioning installation of Adobe InDesign CS3, and PhotoShop CS4 BEFORE INSTALLING A NEW OPERATING SYSTEM on his Mac ... and now it's Adobe's fault that some of the files he needs are missing? -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

For example, I've got PS CS3 Extended. I don't use the extra features of Extended over Standard, but due to licensing restrictions I can't buy an upgrade version of CS5 Standard as my copy of CS3 Extended won't qualify for the upgrade key, I have to buy CS5 Extended instead. Thankfully I'm a student again and get student pricing which is as cheap as upgrades. Interesting. I just tried updating from CS Extended to CS5, and was able to reach the checkout. But will the CS5 standard upgrade install over the CS3 Extended version?
