With Tidal you may come across 8.0.0 shortcomings so perhaps it is time
to start thinking about a Pi for LMS and files staying on Synology as it
seems to be the well trodden path for Synology users.

In the meantime, if you need sox - you could send a PM to Ralphy - he
has built the 3rd party tools for various platforms.

I would also like to see a integration between the Apple ecosystem and
LMS. But to me it is not so much about Siri. To me it is more about
HomeKit and automations. For example: the morning alarm plays music or
radio station from LMS (piCorePlayer) and then runs an automation to
turn on the bedside lights.  It is stuff like that I'm mostly interested
in. 
Would this be possible with the Home Automation thing that was mentioned
before? The Home Automation webside is not very explanatory but
immediately dives in to technical stuff without really explaining what
it does or how it works. 
Maybe LMS could trigger a action or shortcut by using Pushcut ('Pushcut -
Triggers & notifications that kick off your automation'
(https://www.pushcut.io/))?  

Siri would be great if possible for those short commands such as "turn
off bedroom player" or "turn down volume", etc. But not having Siri
integration is not huge thing to me.

I experience very similar to you on the SB radio. But a few other aac
streams seem to be ok (i.e. Classic FM aac).

I've attached a sample log from the Radio, where we see a lot of "OUTPUT
UNDERRUN" - these correspond to the glitches. I don't know why these
should be happening.

I note that the aac decoder is now provided in a shared library. Is it
too fanciful to think that that might add overhead to the processing of
aac ? I have no idea.
Very odd.

Thanks, yes, I can confirm that disabling native AAC seems to play OK on
the latest firmware, so I'll leave set like that.

For info, what is the difference to native and disabled?

I'd been running the r16835 radio firmware for a week playing mostly AAC
streams and didn't experience any issues like this with the shared aac
library.

It might be related to increased memory usage, as the shared aac library
is about 450K larger than the equivalent static jive binary.

I'll build an aac static linked jive binary, replacement for the radio,
as a way to help determine if that is the cause.

Going forward, it would very helpful to have a group for users willing
to test new releases before making them available in the update
channel.
I'll see how that might be setup in the future. For now, I'd like to get
a "stable" release of the firmware for everyone and not just me.

Maybe the logs show something different. I'll try setting player.source
to info in logging settings and see what shows up.

Folder' from within 'My Music'? It is there on the normal LMS interface

Am happy to be part of a beta group, I have enough flavours of SB
players (4 radios, 1 touch, 1 receiver) to run beta firmware on and not
endanger the whole system - so I should always have something available
that works!

Hi,
I've been having a problem that the plugin wasn't loading and it's taken
a bit of working out. I tried removing the repository, restarting the
server, adding it back in etc. but that didn't work.
Left it for a day or so and I've seen that you've been releasing some
new versions, so carried on trying to find the problem.
Digging around in the logs I found this:

Looking on my server (containered) in the config directory, I found that
the plugin files were buried under extra folders - the Plugin.pm file
was actually in 

*config/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl/DenonAvpControl_2_1/DenonAvpControl/*
Copying all the files (including the HTML folder) up to the right folder
depth seems to have fixed it for now at least.

I don't know if the problem is in the repository installer or just in my
setup. Hopefully this can either help you track down the issue, or help
others with the same issue.

Here is a server log with player.source set to info playing aac to a
Touch. Lots of playerOutputUnderrun errors visible here as well.

Thanks Philippe.

Firstly, an interesting observation - as a baseline, and due to my own
curiosity, I initially repeated the test using the existing 1.49.5
version just to see if it would -always- skip the Mogwai track when
using native format. During our intiial round of testing a few days
back, I could replicate it every time.

An unexpected outcome though - the Mogwai track has now decided to play
successfully after The Beatles when using native format on 1.49.5. I
wasn't logging the first attempt because I just assumed it would still
skip, but have attached the log from my second attempt. I double-checked
to ensure that LMS was sending the original FLAC file, and the logs also
confirmed this. So it might make it tricky to test your fix when I now
can't replicate the problem with 1.49.5! I ended up trying it 4 times on
1.49.5 and it worked every time.

Anyway, on to version 1.49.6 where I tested it both with and without the
native format setting and... good news! Playback was successul both
times.

3 logs attached, all with successful playback:
01 Old version with native flac format.log
02 New version with native flac format.log
03 New version transcoded to aiff.log

So it seems to be a success for 1.49.6 but also interesting to see that
1.49.5 doesn't always skip on the same playlist. I'll keep native format
and logging enabled for the moment and keep an eye on things. If I can
replicate it on 1.49.6 I'll get the log over to you.

As a side-note, I haven't applied any other updates to my Sonos or LMS
systems since the original testing, so everything is the same except for
the updated plug-in.

Thanks for your time and efforts with this. Hopefully 1.49.6 will now
workaround the underlying Sonos issue should it start being a problem
again.

I've updated two Squeezebox Radios and a Squeezebox Touch to the latest
community firmware. Very straightforward to install, and all three units
are working well. Many thanks to all involved!

I do have a question. One of the SBRs is used as a bedside radio, and
started playing BBC Radio 4 (our usual alarm playlist, though not alarm
was set for that day) at 4.35am GMT. Might that be a consequence of
being notified of the availability of a firmware upgrade? Or might this
be one of these random reboots I've read about, but never experienced?

It wasn't a problem for me, I am usually awake and up and about well
before 5am, but my partner was a little surprised.

No, I haven't enabled internet access to my system! I do have the LMS
Community Firmware plugin installed.

Trying this. Sometimes I think it's a bit better, and then the problem
emerges. So I'm not convinced that it is the cause. It was a wild idea,
really.

The "pre-roll" (first 10 seconds ? or so) is always bad, even on stock
firmware.

Happy to help with a "bisect", or similar, if that would help. I don't
recall many changes - and one was, I think, absolutely needed to cure a
memory leak ?

Hi Michael, theres something you wrote in regards of automatic scanning

this automatic scan, it seems, sometimes fails due to the very weak
internet connection i have. After a failed scan my playlists from
spotify are mixed up and i have to do a manual delete and rescan of the
database to get things in order again.

This happens quite often with the last spotty/LMS version (or my
i-connection is especially weak right now). Is there any way to prevent
spotty/LMS to scan every 5 minutes? Any way to set it to manually?

I have noticed an issue with the Music Folder view in the app of my
music library when folder names have certain characters. There are
missing Letters in the Numeric/Alphabetic quick navigation side bar. The
same library in a browser view is different. I noticed the issue when
looking for Kate Bush - the K was missing in the app Music Folder view.

The issue appears to be caused by three of my folder names starting with
the # symbol (# Jo and KT, #NEW, #Test). I did this to bring some of the
folders to the top when managing  the library in MS Windows File
Explorer. However, there is a difference between how the app displays
the quick navigation letters vs the browser view.

Another effect is that the letters either side of a # are
duplicated in both the app and browser view with slight differences. 

Renaming the # folders prevents both issues, so I can
easily fix it, but thought you may want to aware in case it can cause
other problems. APK version: 0.1.4

Hi - I wondered if there were any insights as to the vol slider and
mouse wheel config.

I've found an odd intermittent issue when my mouse wheel is clicked up a
single detent it accelerates the vol slider rather hastily to 100%. This
often makes for rather a heart-stopping moment!
If I reverse wheel click it shoots down to 0%. This is the same in FF
and Chrome. I think it may be something to do with window focus but am
not sure.
Other times one moves the pointer over the volume slider and the wheel
moves the vol gradually as expected. The wheel works fine in other apps
i.e. it scrolls a few lines at a time.

The "mouse" in my case is actually a Logitech MX Ergo trackball and the
Logi applet wheel options are Smooth Scrolling and Direction. I
discovered that if I disable "Smooth Scrolling" then the slider works
normally. I can't find any description of exactly what it's meant to do,
nor how.
How does the vol slider interpret "smooth scrolling", or Logitech's
version of it?

FWIW Windows' mouse settings has the wheel motion set to scroll multiple
lines, 3 at a time but changing that seems to make no difference to the
slider op.
Anyway I'm disabling Smooth Scrolling for now and will monitor the
situation.

No I can't. I've just installed SB player as well, and you can't have
both active at the same time. It's one or the other.

Since I didn't find those code lines, I downloaded version 0.1.0, copied
the Plugin.pm over the old one.
Now, indeed, I got the anouncement discarded message (and the SB stayed
off). So everything fine! Thank you very much. :)

To be able to control the music from my bluetooth headphones is what I'm
after, so I'll stay with Orange Squeeze and Squeeze Player. Although
It'd been great to be able to do it with Material.

You can look into Homebridge [https://homebridge.io ] 
or HOOBS [https://hoobs.org] ( which is also only Homebridge in a more user 
friendly packaging). There are plugins for home bridge, and one triggers 
himekit actions based open an  alarm in LMS (although I think I remember that 
it does not work with a local LMS installation?). There is also another plugin 
(which I have slightly modified), which represents each player as a FAN, speed 
= volume [https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-squeezebox2 
] . If you only want to 
bring LMS into HomeKit, home bridge / HOOBS is the easiest.

Please let me know if you use the plugin - I need a bit more motivation (and 
contributors?) to continue working on it.

I just registered to express my deep appreciation for what you guys are
doing here! Excellent job and after I had wrapped my head around the
update procedure by Radio updated smoothly - I didn't even have to
configure anything afterwards. (Since I don't use any kinds of patches
on my Radios I figured I might as well skip the recommended factory
reset, and it worked out.) 

So again, kudos for this awesome job!

I can't answer your question. I do know that there were a few changes to
the Radio's alarm handling that brought it into line with the Touch.
Possibly a hiccup as a result of that ? I don't know. I think I made a
list of them somewhere in this thread, for some reason.

I managed to install the material skin apk on my android mobile, working
locally and remotely.  On my mobile the top item on My Music is Artists,
whereas on my desktop it is Composers, for the same Squeezeplayer player
(using Additional Browse Modes).  There are now two Artists entries, but
no Composers.  I have a feeling I've seen this before, but I cannot for
the life of me figure out what the difference is on my mobile.



LMS 8.1 on PC, Xubuntu 20.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps.  2
Touches & EDO.
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (A308CR amp & ESLs) & Marantz
CR603 UPnP renderers.  
Also Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers.  
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.

No, the # folder names are affecting it. Renaming them cures the
problems. I have proved that.

LMS lets you configure the browse-modes per player, which is one of the
things I do not like. I can see why you would want this to configure
what is shown on the *hardware* player, but (IMHO) it should not affect
what is shown in a software controller that affects multiple players.
(For instance I hate it in SqueezeCtrl when I browse into an Artist,
realise I'm on the wrong player, switch player, and browse goes back to
the top). For this reason, Material configure's its list of modes
per-Material instance. And this is shown earlier in this thread - a few
posts back.

I can add support for Squeeze Player, but (as I don't own it) I'm not
sure what 'intent' is used to start it.

letter sequence causes a split/repeated letter entry in Material that is

I have heard the Material Skin is great so I wanted to give it a try. 
There is a learning curve to figure out where stuff is located, but that
should be expected.

I copy a podcast to a podcast music folder, and then play it using the
music folder option.  This avoids having to rescan for a temporary file.
I could not find the music folder option in the material skin.  I
decided to revert back to the default interface, which is when I had
problems.  The screen was messed up using Chrome.  Closing and
restarting LMS did not fix the problem.  It was so bad, that it was
difficult to get to interface setting to double check the default
interface option was selected.   I tried using Edge and it displayed
okay.  I went into the Chrome privacy settings and deleted all the cache
and cookies from the last 24 hours and that fixed the problem.  I am not
sure if this is an issue for the Material Skin plug-in or LMS.  

I am running LMS 8.01 on a Pi using Picore 7.0.

I do like the material skin as it works better with smaller screens on a
phone or tablet, but when I cannot find a setting, I need to go back to
the default interface easily.

My apologies if this issue has already been discussed.

Use http:// SERVER:9000/material to access Material skin, and http://
SERVER:9000/Default to access default skin.

Also, as stated literally a few posts ago, you can configure the browse
modes (Artists, Music Folders, etc) in Material by accessing its
'Settings' dialog via the top right menu button. In this dialog, scroll
down until you see 'My Music' - and click the cog icon next to that.

Hello Rainer, thank you for your reply.
I have used HomeBridge in the past. I used it because Tahoma did not
have HomeKit support. My experiences where not very good with HomeBridge
and in the end I stopped using it. It was quite unreliable with Tahoma. 

I will have a look at your plugin. Do you have some more info on how it
works and how to configure it? 

In the mean time I'm also exploring the following options (in regards to
the alarm triggering an automation):

1) if the LMS alarm routine could send an HTTP request then I could use
Pushcut to trigger an automation. I currently use a Pushcut notification
for my doorbell which works great. 

2) reverse the situation: instead of using LMS alarms I could use a
HomeKit automation that would make an LMS player stream a radio or
playlist at a given time (the alarm time). The automation would then
also switch on the bedside lights. 

The above need some more investigation though.

Material apparently already works with Squeeze Player. But unfortunately
it didn't help with controlling bluetooth headphones. It must be Orange
Squeeze then that makes that work.

anywhere, after ages looking everywhere I could think of.  Personally I
think it very confusing, but we are all different.  I'll just have to
try to get used to it.  Searching this enormous set of posts is also
becoming really difficult - not your fault of course :-)

this automatic scan, it seems, sometimes fails due to the very weak
internet connection i have. After a failed scan my playlists from
spotify are mixed up and i have to do a manual delete and rescan of the
database to get things in order again.


Go to Settings/Advanced/Online Music Library Integration. There you can 
enable the automatic scan for every service you're using.

How is it confusing? That an app should have its own UI settings? That
it is different to how other skins work? If so, I have explained my
reasons for this, and it will not be changing. Despite its name,
Material -Skin- is more of an app than a skin, and it will be different.
I make no apologies for that.

Hopefully this won't conflict with the real fix when it turns up, but 
cd into the folder
config/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl/DenonAvpControl_2_1/DenonAvpControl
(you'll have to find where that is on your system - for me it's in the
Docker folder - you'll know it's right because when you "ls" you'll see
the Plugin.pm file and some others)
>From there, *cp -r * ../../*  should copy all those files back up to the
correct directory. Restart the service and it should be OK. It was for
me anyway. Can't guarantee it will work for everyone...

Hi Craig,
first thx for material PlugIn.

Maybe i have two small issues.
I use some Android devices with Anroid version 7 or higher and use
always the default installed chrome browser.
On some devices the icon of the youtube plugin in main menue is colored
and in some devices it's b/w. ?  I clear the cache but this doesn't
help.

Next thing is maybe a user error :cool:, i'm not able to found or place
the icon from the "radio paradise" plugin to put it on main menue.

Are the changes made for each community release documented and published
anywhere, I've looked here

on github but can't see anything, although I have to confess to
struggling with the whole github thing.

I'm not particularly a fan of following the "bleeding edge" but decided
to try the new community firmware, everything's been fine so far - great
work guys, but when the recent notification for r16835 popped up, I
wondered what the changes were and whether I really needed to update...
and so far have been unable to find out.

The ability to use both interfaces is nice.  I can bookmark my laptop to
the default interface, and bookmark the material skin for my
phone/ipad.

I am still trying to learn the material skin interface.

I'm running a docker from   lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:stable
Version is currently:  Version: 8.1.2 - 1613284909 @ Sun Feb 14
09:06:07 CET 2021

I've not been messing around with it myself, but the docker seems to be
updating itself pretty frequently. I noticed the problem on the 13th,
but it might have been existing for a few days or a week before then.
When looking at Settings / plugins it showed the Denon AVP controller
without a tick and the message that it had failed to load.
Sorry I can't give you much more info.

Michael,

Any debugging i can do to identify the issue here? It is very annoying
to keep having to click play next track to keep my music playing.

I have done a google search about this issue and others have reported
success turning of some of the advanced settings in the Spotify app like
crossfade etc but none of that worked for me. This issue only happens
with my LMS/Spotty devices not my native Spotify connect Denon
amplifier.

As I said earlier I am using:
