In the APK is there any way, could there be a way, to disable auto-discovery on server failure? I have my server on a specific DNS name so I can access it from anywhere. When the external connection fails the APK goes discovering and I have to then manually re-enter the FQDN. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS
Another minor one, probably mentioned in the long thread somewhere, but just for fun I tried the Alexa Windows app as a player and it doesn't work - but this is probably because it uses some off-net proxy (the private address space that I do not use is a good clue) of it's own, as seen in the IPs below (the bottom player is one of the Echo Show 15s): 37241 I doubt this is fixable, and if not already probably worth mentioning in the docs. +---+ |Filename: Screenshot 2022-02-17 075828.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37241| +---+ Peter Galbavy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32718 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111016 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS
Yeah, the Basic auth details for the proxy, when it doesn't need it, just drops through in the headers to the native HTTP interface and hence the UI works for me. In my case using a 3rd party proxy would still NOT work as I am not removing LMS password protection. I have "real" players outside my home and they cannot support HTTPS anyway, so the most basic clear text auth is better than none. The username / password are not shared with any other platform I use so it doesn't matter if they are intercepted - someone can potentially screw up my LMS configs but that's about it, although there will be holes in the server or plugins for the determined. I am going to see if I can using nginx to proxy with hardwired auth to /stream.mp3 or see if LMS can somehow unprotect just that endpoint as a test hack - but the former would not work for your skill I assum as the endpoint is derived from the LMS servers own knowledge of it's IP and fixed port and so can't be redirected to a munging proxy solution :) One potential simplification, if you are willing to change your code, is to pass the *same* auth details as for the proxy in the URL in the playlist, like you show, which would have no effect on an unprotected endpoint but could act as a workaround for those like me (sample size obviously one for now) that want to support a Frankenstein like hybrid environment. Because I enable password security on all my LMS instances by default? This is in fact what I use to protect my test proxy for your skills in testing - I don't have proxy passwords, instead using the user and password in LMS in the config and it works for everything except streaming. I do also access my LMS from outside my home, and it is password protected without a proxy dance - even if it's not HTTPS protected out of the box - players don't understand HTTPS. Another use of a protected stream endpoint would be if my LMS instance were not on the local LAN of the Echo device, e.g. hosted in the fluffy cloud on a VM, for example. I've returned to the UK and now have a couple of Echo Show 15s at home and so have tried this again. I set up a new DNS cname and let my nginx docker container get the Lets Encrypt cert for it. Player control now works but streaming does not. I have also set up an nginx proxy for HTTP to /stream.mp3 so it doesn't require SSL. My LMS is password protected hpwever and /stream.mp3 expects a login as does the rest of the server. Testing with curl (and not cached broswer sessions) proves this to me. Can Media Server LAN access to /stream.mp3 work with security enabled on the server? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS
Thanks for the pointers, been there done those; Specifically: I tried "alexa, stream the album songs from the north" and she replies correctly and the album art appears. LAME is installed (docker container on a Synology) and - this is the fun bit - when I the open the /stream.mp3 URL in my browser (on the same reverse proxied URL) is both plays *and* a new player appears in LMS called Alexa-X - but this player is only there when I am manually streaming to my browser. When I stop and ask the Echo Show to once again stream, artwork appear but no autio and no player in LMS web interface. In terms of the "assume" command, I have followed the docs and tried variations - my reading implies that when you say "alexa, tell media server to assume the lounge player" is somehow enabling that specific Echo Show to stream as a new player in LMS called "Lounge" but perhaps I have missed a step? It just says "I can't find a player called lounge" or whatever other room is misheard. I am not (yet) a subscriber as I want to know if this works, so the Australia bit is more the location - I am normally in the UK and my root Amazon account is OK based. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS
I've gone through a somewhat convoluted set-up process, using my own proxy, and while the skill can control the player on my PC I cannot get it to either stream audio or assume a player for my Echo Show 8. If I tell media server to "assume the lounge player" is just says "cannot find a player called lounge" - I have read back and forth and can't see any other step required to "enable" the Echo Show as a player. Streaming shows things in the screen, but silence. My Echo Show is in Australia and the skill complained about languages, so I switched to both US and UK english to test. Can "Australian" be added to the list of supported languages please? Would it not be cleaner to have an additional explicit command to enable an Echo (Show) as a player rather than "assume" which also seems to pick the default player for commands? I do not under any circumstances whatsoever however want to use "some random guy's" cloud proxy service - I am quite happy with my in-house network security and my own remote access controls. I am happy to pay for the "skill" but without the random guy of the street's proxy. Can I set this up with my own access methods? I know this may have already been discussed, I can't recall and the thread is very long, but is there enough control in WIndows Universal apps to make the taskbar icon a progress bar for the current track or something - I have other apps, but not UWP things - that do this, like: 35124 Peter +---+ |Filename: Screenshot 2021-07-03 112722.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35124| +---+ Peter Galbavy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32718 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108550 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
It could get complicated and messy, I agree. This is one of those caveat emptor things - my thought, given a lack of directoryt management, would be just to use the underlying track filename. For multiple files a ZIP may work, but would put extra load on the server I guess. I have never tries this in my own code, but the second answer in this article seems to suggest multiple downloads could work: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2339440/download-multiple-files-with-a-single-action I guess for ordinary users there is a hassle to moving things in and out of Downloads but for me anything is better than nothing. I assume - and this is not important for me - transcoding could be done using the normal streaming system, but how you then correctly name the resulting file... no idea. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
The one thing I keep the no-longer-maintained Orange Squeeze on my phone for is downloads. Any chance of adding/exposing "download" links for tracks or whole albums (multiple links - not sure how this would even work)? For a single track I would guess this is just changing the metadata for the response, amateur that I am, but not sure if multiple downloads are possible from a web page? My use case is that all my music goes via my server and LMS is the easiest way of selecting what I want "offline" on my phone. Would it be possible to make the Artist and Album on the Playing screen be links to their respective containers, like they are on tracks in the Queue screen? I sometimes find myself playing a playlist or a compilation and want to follow the current track and while I can of course click Queue and follow from there it would be more intuitive to go direct if possible. Pretty much what you said, it's all correct. You also need to then add "Let's Encrypt" - but that does assume you can use dynamic DNS for your server name or have static IP and proper DNS. In my set-up (that happens to be ubuntu in this case) the "Listen" directive is in /etc/apache2/ports.conf and the rest in a file in .../sites-enabled after using the command line tools to turn SSL and proxy support on (a2e I think) which saves manual work with symlinks etc. But this is all off topic for Material - if you want more either PM me or let's start another thread somewhere. Switching the selected player to the one I have just "turned on" updated the power icon but then switching back to the previous player once again results in the other player's power icon once again returning to "off". I don't know if it was said earlier, but I found that to get the very cool new feature of Android notification controls you have to re-add "to home screen" as my old app icon didn't do this and confused me ... Looking forward to trying it, but the onedrive link is not working - however this is probably the onedrive problems from this morning. Do you perchance have an alternative download site? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
Would it be possible (maybe as an option) to either lift or hide Compilations / Various Artists out of the Artists lists? By "lift" I mean pull it up into a single group of it's own with direct access or even into the top menu and, well, "hide" should be self explanatory... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
It's pretty standard, especially if you want to access it outside the home network. Protecting the external access with TLS is possible via a proxy. I believe it's a requirement, in fact, for the settings at least - there are other threads about that too. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
I've come across odd behaviour on Chrome on Android and I cannot reproduce it at will, but it has happened more than once. I will unlock my tablet/phone or re-open Chrome from the "all running apps" button and Material will demand auth details again, Chrome fills them in as I have saved the details but then pops-up yet another auth dialogue without pre-filled details, ad infinitum - regardless of Cancel or re-submit, I then have to go back to my home screen and kill Chrome as there is no way out. If I find a way to re-produce this I will detail more. Doesn't happen on Windows 10 / Chrome, just Android. I wander away for a few days and ... nice to see all the work going on! I see the speaker icon is now dim for off. What I do like about the traditional skin is that I can click the power button in the player list dropdown without selecting the player, typically when I have left one on by mistake and I start playing on another (they are all synced).Even if the material framework doesn't permit that level of interaction could there be a way of, at minimum, turning all players off? I am going to try to keep up with this thread, but it's moving fast! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
Very nice indeed, thanks for the work. One thing immediately apparent to me, with a number of players, is there is no visual indication in the drop-down which ones are on or off - you have to select each on and then see the state and the switch. Any way in the material design world to decorate each player and maybe incorporate the on/off toggle directly? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
I was testing from my work PC to my home server. I open up individual ports as required, but also allow UPnP for some devices. With a static IP this works, but I have no idea how this works for dynamic DNS users. Still not sure about port 3248 and security - 9000/9090 are login protected. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
Fixed - in case anyone else sees the same thing, I had to manually allow squeezelite-win.exe to make outgoing connections through the Windows Firewall. I *assume* this is the same for the Store installed version, and if so should/could this be added to the manifest or whatever Windows Store apps come with at install?
