Hello Philippe, 
I've just setup squeezetoupnp for my Bel Canto Refstream to use with
Roon. 

OS is Debian and platform is x86_64. 

Solution is running is quite well but this is not perfect as I am
randomly having stop of the playback with following exception :

Last error happened with the following scenario :
- I was listening to an album (around 10 tracks) 
- in the middle of this album, I have decided to switch to a new album
so launch a new album with "play now"
- New tracks were added, but playback failed 
- I have to press "play" button again to make it working

I have played a lot with "streaming_length" parameter when putting in
place the solution and neither "-1", "-2" or "-3" was working. 
Playback never launched and get the "connection reset by peer" issue. 
That's why I have set a very high value following your recommandation.
But it still randomly fails like I said ...

I assume LMS is running on a separate system somewhere.  That being the
case, I assume you just start the process at boot.  I know nothing at
all about macs, but this should help.

have searched and searched and searched all over the web to find the
script to automatically launch squeeze2upnp on my mac on boot. I can't
find it . and nobody explains how to do it. The only think I know is the
mandatory use of -z flag on the script. Can you or anyone in this forum
help me giving the script to me or at least give guidance of how to make
it on mac osx
.

Have solved the 3rd Party plugin problem by upgrading my Vortexbox from
v2.3 to 2.4.

Looks to me as i your vortexbox has no access to the internet, or no DNS
set up (translating website URLs into addresses).  Can you run a monitor
and browser on that system or is it 'headless'?  If it is a full
vortexbox I suggest you ask on the vortexbox forum how to check this and
how to set it up.

There's no need yet to reset your SBT as far as I can see.

Although I am no expert in understanding what the messages mean, I can
certainly see the word "Error" appearing in every line which would
indicate something is not right.

I'm wondering if a total uninstall and reinstall of LMS in my Vortexbox,
with a factory reset of the SBT, might be the way to go to try

Go to settings, information tab, near the bottom, you should be able to
select to see the 'logitech media server log'.

The DenonSerial (v 0.1.42) plugin is a '3rd party' plugin.  Mine is not
active so it appears in a separate list below the 'inactive' plugins
list.  That list is labelled '3rd party plugins'. If there is no such
list there must be some sort of configuration problem in your LMS
system.  Do you have other 'additional repositories' set up? For
instance, I have no 'Daphile' plugin at all.

Assuming you do indeed have no 3rd party plugin list I suggest you
pursue it on the other thread that you found.

plugins", does this mean the ones that have an author's name other than
Logitech?

If so, in the Active Plugins, I have Peter Watkins' "DenonSerial (v

Browser (v1.0) & Andy Grundman's "UPnP/DLNA Media Interface (v1.0). They

Yeah, definitely something strange going on. Can download from the URL
direct to my desktop, but not into LMS. Very frustrating!!

I am running this version of LMS - "Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0
- 1488878280 @ Wed Mar 8 14:00:59 UTC 2017".

Thanks for trying to help. I'll just have to keep trawling the forums in
the hope I can find a solution.

I suspect there is some setting that I have to change (using puTTY?) but
I have to find it first.

As philippe has pointed out, you shouldn't even need the extra repo. 
The 'UPnP/DLNA bridge' should appear in the 3rd party list.  Do you have
no "3rd party plugin" list at all (whether or not there's a tick box for
'Use 3rd party plugins')?

If you have no 3rd party list, no associated check box, and the
additional repo doesn't work, something very strange is going on and I
currently have no idea what.

Unfortunately still no luck at this end. As I said in my reply to PasTim
I do not have any plugins showing on the plugins page near the bottom
under "Philippe's LMS Plugins". I have pasted the line
"http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/lms-plugins-philippe44/repo-sf.xml;
in the Additional Repositories, clicked Apply - page "blinks" briefly

Apologies if this is a silly question, but where do I check "Use 3rd
Party plugins"? I cannot find that. I only have the headings "Active
plugins", "Inactive plugins", "Update plugins automatically" and
"Additional Repositories" showing (assuming you are talking about the
plugins page).

Hi PasTim, no apology necessary. I appreciate your help.

I do not have any plugins showing on the plugins page near the bottom
under "Philippe's LMS Plugins". I have pasted the line

Thank you for your prompt reply, and for trying to help me.

I use a Vortexbox (VB) which is connected to my modem and streams the
files to a Squeezebox Touch (SBT) which is connected to my lounge room
audio system. The SBT used to be connected to my Denon AVR via optical
cable and I have used that set up to listen to my VB files (mainly 24/96
& 24/192) since I purchased the SBT back in 2012.

Recently, I have bought an Oppo UDP-203 blu-ray player and have been
trying to take advantage of its 32 channel AKM DAC. Unfortunately, I
have had no luck in connecting the SBT to the Oppo despite having the
EDO app installed.

So I have been using the networking feature on the Oppo to listen to my
music files. This feature, however, is "clunky" and not as good as the
"Squeezer" app I have been using in the past so I was hoping that your
app would be more efficient than the Oppo Media app.

I added the repository to my "Plugins" page as instructed in the thread
link you provided, applied and restarted LMS. Still not showing in my
plugins.

I noticed a mention in your linked thread of
"c:\programdata\squeezebox\cache\Installedplugins\plugins\upnpbridge" so
had a look - no plugins are listed there (don't know if that matters or
not).

I've noticed, when I go into the SBT settings, that there are two
kernels listed for downloading - EDO Release Kernel and USB Test Kernel
#7. When I download these into the SBT it reboots but they are still
listed in the Kernel Update setting.

Again, I don't if this means anything, but thought I would mention it.
Perhaps there is some setting in my SBT that is preventing me
downloading.

It's been a very frustrating 3 weeks since I bought the Oppo. I'm sure
there is a way I can use its DAC,

Assuming you want to use a UPnP player with LMS that's the wrong plugin.
The one you want is the UPnP Bridge - see the thread starting at

.  That thread is also the up-to-date one for the UPnP bridge.

The UPnP/DLNA Media Interface (v1.0) provides for a very basic UPnP
media server (including video and pictures, but without all the audio
features of LMS), and allows standard LMS players to look like UPnP
players to other UPnP media servers.

I have "UPnP/DLNA Media Interface (v1.0)" listed in my LMS plugins as an
active plugin (tick in the box), however, there is no settings listed
anywhere.

To my understanding, there should be settings in the drop-down box in
the Advanced window?

Is that the correct plugin listed as, if so, why can't I find any
settings for it?

Try the -static version (please go the main thread as well

How use it with server on synology ?

I tick "Start bridge", select "squeeze2upnp-x86", enable logging and
tick autosave.

It try to start but fail, it seems there is no config.xml.

I try to click on generate, no luck. When I click on view, I've got an

I didn't try the pacing_size trick, I'm sorry. You mentioned that the
other http modes are preferred and since I bought the player to be used
as a DLNA player, I decided to send it back. It looked to me like it
would have been a work-around in some way anyway.

thanks a lot for your help. Since it did not seem to be worth investing
more effort into it, I send the LG Music Flow back and got myself an old
center speaker of ebay, a RasPi 3 with the JustBoom Amp and the Max2Play
ISO. Works like a charm!

Hi all,

I love this plugin - it works brilliantly with my Marantz AV receiver. I
was pleased to get it working natively with 24/96 FLAC material, too.

However, one thing I can't crack is Spotify with Triode's plugin. The
problem has been consistent since I started using this plugin - updates
haven't really affected the behaviour.

Essentially, I can play songs/albums/playlists/etc from Spotify to my
uPNP player, but the following happens:
1. At the end of the first track playback continues onto the second
track (and sometimes a third) but the player's screen, squeezeserver and
my Duet remote still show the name/coverart/etc of the first track - the
time is just stuck at the end of the track.
2. Eventually (or immediately - usually with a playlist), the playlist
fails to progress to the next track and the same track will just repeat
endlessly. (Repeat is not enabled.) I can manually select the next track
in the playlist to make it move on, but then it will get stuck again -
sometimes immediately or sometimes after another track.

It will always play complete tracks and repeats tracks in their entirety
- it isn't repeating partial tracks.

Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to fix it? I'm interested
to see that from a quick search of this thread, no one else appears to
experience this issue. It only affects Spotify in my experience -
playing tracks from my own library is flawless - and only when playing
to a upnp player.

I've attached the log and player settings for upnp-bridge, and the
player audio settings on LMS. Version numbers are:
upnpbridge v0.2.10.0 running squeeze2upnp-armv6hf
Tridoe's spotify v2.3.9
LMS 7.9.0 - 1462256937
All running on a Raspberry Pi with Raspbian Jessie.

Sorry for my mistake! I meant your post obviously. The streaming
settings are set to "direct streaming". I changed it to "proxied" but
still can't play radio streams, so I changed it back to "direct
streaming".

You might want to check the LMS Settings for your UPnP player, under
audio.  What 'streaming method' is set, 'proxied' or 'direct'?

Hello,

I just got myself a new LG MusicFlow H4 (NP8350) and would like to use
it as a Squeeze Player with the squeeze2upnp app. Reading through most
of the manual of squeeze2upnp I got to the point that I can play music
from my local library. Now I'm struggling with getting radio stations to
work. When I start the radio station it starts running but I can't hear
anything. On another UPnP Device (Win 10 with Windows Media Player) the
same radio station plays from LMS without problems.
I downloaded DeviceSpy and looked into the LG MusicFlow H4. After
rearranging a little and eliminating "*", ":" and "/", this came out.

Hi Philppe,
I disabled PCM in the LMS file controls, and that solved the problem. 
For future reference, the squeeze2upnp settings for my CambridgeAudio
752BD are your default settings.

confused by the sampling rate of some streams and, when doing on-the-fly
conversion to raw PCM, not giving the right information to the player.
So The bridge tells the player it's a raw PCM @ 44.1KHz when in facts
it's a 48KHz track. Recent versions of LMS might have solved that, I'm
not sure. Another explication, if things are super slow (like half
speed) is as well that LMS 7.7x (and maybe 7.8, I'm not sure) can't go
above 96KHz and misdirect as well the player, where rate above 96kHz are
said to be 44.1. Again, this is likely not fully accurate as I'm writing
that from memory.

The solution is either you have an old LMS version and try to upgrade to
recent 7.9 (I don't know how much VortexBox let you do that), or maybe
preventing raw use of PCM to the player will solve that as well.

752 BlueRay Player.  All works fine except for Spotify.  The Spotify
stream will play, but plays at a reduced speed, so everything is slooow.
Other streams such as internet radio work fine. 
I have tried a number of buffering options in the settings without
success.
Before i try other options and get myself in knots I thought I would ask
here first if anyone has seen this issue before or might know of a
resolution.

Answer is a bit confusing, I know

- stable versions are part of 3rd party repository that Michael updates
with some scripts (AFAIK). 
- the same stable versions can be found as well when adding manually my
"stable" repository. The benefit of doing that is you have access to my
stable releases immediately after I've published them, which might not
be the case when Michael does not have the time to update the 3rd party
repo
- the dev versions require a manual repository to be set. For 0.2.10, I
should have named it -dev-xxx as I normally do, but I forgot, sorry

You are not alone.  As a mere child of 63 I have much the same problem.

Still, my understanding is that to use the stable versions you need to
extra repositories at all.  The naming of 2.10.0 confused me, since I
thought it looked like a stable version, but it isn't - it's the
development version, for which an additional repository is required.



LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 16.04, FLACs 16->24 bit,
44.1->192kbps. 
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to A308CR amp & ESLs) &

After a little more tests some observations concerning sq2u 0.2.10.0 and
Roon streaming to Foobar2000 (WIN10)

1) I've successfuly played audio files from Roon: AAC, MP3, MP4, FLAC,
TIDAL and Internet Radio (all 16b) OK

2) Latency is very good ! OK

3) Unable to play: 24b / 192khZ FLAC KO (i have to investigate more
because i have very few 19kKhz files and i'm not sure it is a sq2u
problem) 

4) No problem when i load and play individual track OK

5) Sometimes (not always) in a playlist or album mode (even with the
same audio format on all tracks):
- When playing a track if i skip to the next track (> button) the next
track doesn't play (no errors on the sq2u & foobar console). If i skip
forward again the next track is played (N+2).
- If i skip backward ( Rega DAC => Rega Brio R amp => Harbeth SLH5 speakers

What are the latest stable versions?

I thought they were both mainstream now and didn't need to have your
additional repository in the additional repo's box.

Is this true or should I have an additional repo. If so what is the URL
of the repo?

I think that explains it - you aren't using the automated repository
mechanism.  I think philippe may have an issue with the repository
links, which currently don't function (they time out).

Wireless Xubuntu 16.04 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.  
Also a Touch with EDO, plus spare, unused.

Using your *last sq2u version 0.2.10*, Roon (emulating LMS) can now play
to UPnP renderers ! 
Big thanks you for that ! 

I'm still testing but look promising (additionally sq2cast seems to work
with Roon and Chromecast devices using the same mechanism).

First post but long time lurker here! 
First of all, thank you for all your work, Philippe! It is sincerely
appreciated. I'm the proud owner of five Beep players which you gave a
extension after EOL. I have been having some problems getting the plugin
to work with my Synology NAS but my latest update fixed the problem and
now I'm looking for a pre-defined player profile for my Beeps. I've seen
it discussed a couple of times but haven't seen any recommended settings
anywhere. Any of you guys that could help me out?

I've installed Wireshark and will try to manage to capture what's
exchanged between Roon server (WIN10) and sq2U runing on a different OSX
machine.

Is squeeze2upnp-osx-multi (V 2.9.1) OK on OSX 10.11.6 (El capitan) ?
Any specific wireshark filters ?

I agree.
I will try to test in 3 steps.

1) LMS + bridge plugin (Linux) => Foobar renderer on another WIN10
machine
2) LMS (Linux) => Sq2u + Foobar on another WIN10 machine
3) Roon emulating LMS + Sq2u + Foobar , all components on the same WIN10
machine (actual test setup)

Correct ?

The final goal, is to check as a principle, if sq2u might be a
workaround to use UPnP renderers with Roon.
Quite a lot of Roon's users would be glad of such a workaround.

It really looks like sq2u does not receive the request from foobar2000
to send data, which is classic of a firewall problem. Can you try with a
regular LMS and sq2u (instead of roon) to see if that LMS server + sq2u
(on another machine) can contact foobar2000 running on the Win10
machine? Other than that, foobar2000 works very well with sq2u, I'm
using it a lot in tests.

Good if CLI is not mandatory.

I'm running sq2u and Roon servers on WIN10. 
I've disabled MS WIN firewall (private and public network). No idea if
others firewall of any kind. My Win setup is "out of the box". 

I'm not very sure on how to setup Foobar as UPnP renderer. 
In the Roon UI signal path is correct as if the stream is playing but
seek bar is not moving

I suspect you are breaking new ground.  Why not try the stand-alone
solution and see what happens?   There's a user manual that may help you
set it up.

Yes, i agree Michael. 
When Roon emulate LMS you have to stop any other LMS server running on
the network and so no plugin to help.

But, what i understand from sq2u user guide, is that squeeze2upnp is
able to run as standlone (launched via the command line and configured
via xml config file).
So my question about any feedback from users running Roon with
standalone squeeze2upnp.

Hi everyone,
Just purchased a PS Audio Directstream DAC last week, connected it to my
Vortexbox appliance running Logitech Media Server via USB, and
absolutely loved it!  Big improvement over my two other DACs.  After
reading reviews, I then purchased a PS Audio Bridge II that arrived
today, and so far I’m underwhelmed with the results when playing music
over my home network via UPnP.  Here’s a brief summary:


- Sound quality via the Bridge II sounds thin compared to USB. 
  Musicality seems to be lost.
- 192/24 recordings don't play correctly (really not at all).  An
  audible noise comes out, but it’s as if the song is being played at a
  fraction of its normal speed.  It’s unrecognizable.
- Although the sample rate and bit rate display correctly, the
  metadata is always stuck on the first song, and album artwork does not
  display at all.
- 
  

To get LMS to work with Bridge II, I installed Philippe's squeeze2upnp
plug-in (thank you so much!).  I’m hoping there’s a setting that I’ve
missed, or I’ll need to return the Bridge II and revert back to USB.  Is
there a log that I can post to see if I inadvertently screwed up a
setting or am doing something else wrong?  Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

1) Port for webserver should be the first available port starting with
49152. There is of course a need for local network access on which port
used are not fixed and if the new DSM firewall blocks accesses by
program, then squeeze2upnp-xxx must be authorized for general access.
2) No need for internet access, unless you ask for pre-defined player
profile update

to new FW behaviour and your upnpbridge as it cannot discover anymore
renderers on Lan.
1) Would you please tell me which port/protocol exactly i must open to
allow it to work ?
2) Also, once your plugin is installed in LMS, is there a need for your
app to connect on internet ? I mean else to update to a newer release
(which i don't need as this one works fine for me).

Hoping my questions are not too stupid.

Yes I was thinking about the duet but they are still not cheap at
around $150 to $200 AU.
I could just go for a BOom which I could probably get for around $75
second hand and move the Jongo upstairs but the sound is s good on
the jongo, although I tested a Chromecast last night running into a
small DAC then in to the Jongo and the sound expanded exponentially :).

I have a duet that I use for the garden which is housed in the garage, I
could just bring that inside for now (summer is over now) and hopefully
within the next 6-8 months someone like Phillippe can expand on the
chromecast plugin or the sqeeze play bridge to allow for sync, and I can
always just use my phone outside which runs squeezeplay if I need to use
outside and sync.

anyway loads of options to think about but so far the boom (watching on
ebay currently $25 au) or duet from garage is the way to go, I priced up
a Raspberry build and its expensive for this solution at around $180
-$210 by the time you purchase the case, board, power, DAC, shipping.

I contacted Pure about dlna compatabity ... as usual, a confusing
answer.   They say Jongos are not dlna certified and won't work as
renderers 

Strange, given that  shugg72 reports his T6 works with upnpbridge.

Thanks for the report - good to know that the Jongo works with the upnp
plugin, I might get one then. Sync is not an issue for me, as it is
supposed to be used as a bathroom speaker.
What about a second hand duet - if you add a small step-up power
converter, you can use the USB 5V in the Jongo as a power supply for the
duet.

shug72, the analogue audio outputs on the Pi don't sound that good,
they're not meant to be hifi quality. You could add something like the
HifiBerry DAC which is a board that plugs onto the Pi IO connector and
provides a high quality DAC, though exactly how good it is I don't know.
They have various quality levels, metal cases etc. There must be other
companies selling the same sort of thing, looks like a neat solution.

Hi I could not get the Jongo to work with LMS on my Synology NAS,
however I did manage to get it running on the Macbook with LMS installed
and it works great, its not what I need though as Phillippe advised me
that you can not sync to other squeezebox devices, so for me there is no
point and a wasted effort, I was going to try and use the Chromecast 
with thechromecast plugin but alas Phillippe lindly advised me that this
will also not work as I wish ie in sync mode.

So the only option is possibly a raspberry PI, although this is not
ideal as the only input I have on the Jongo is a 3.5mm and I'm not sure
what the DACS are like on the PI, as it might ruin the sound of the
Jongo, I could add an external Mini DAC between the PI and Jongo but
again this might ruin the sound as it travels through so many sources.

Perhaps it is due to the synology and the binaries of the plugins. 

Have you tried the plugins on a Windows machine.

Yes had another look and no devices have appeared as yet.
I should mention the the LMS is running on a synology NAS and the
version of LMS is 7.9.0-062 the version of the plug in is v0273.

Also, it takes time for the device to be discovered - it should appear
at the bottom of the upnp settings page

Yes I'm testing one today that I have borrowed, although from what Ive
read it should work with the chromecast plug in on the LMS and plugged
in directly to the Jongo ?

Yes you need the app to initially set it up or you can use the URL but
thats only to configure wifi and upgrade firmware, or if yo wish to do
mutiroom etc or use there streaming service.
