I just installed the SoundCloud plugin. I had trouble connecting to SC in LMS until I realized I had my popup blocker on. I turned off the popup blocker and was able to access my account and get the API number for the plugin. I like it so far. Hi, I like the app, but I have a problem when I search for items I usually get a list of several items with the same name. The first item is played no matter which of the items I select. Thanks 505 for the updates. Continuously updated from versions 0.11.9 to 0.12.2 (not yet to 0.13) and login is working without any problems. Unfortunately, using the Material skin, when I select any track in the playlist, the plugin always plays the first track instead of the selected track. Would be nice to get it working properly one day... OK, when I went directly to the Soundcloud plugin in the main list, and tried to set it, the above failure occured. Then I scrolled to Plugins in the main list, scrolled down to the Soundcloud plugin, clicked the Settings link at the right, and the button worked! Can you enable debug logging for the SqueezeCloud plugin, try again, and post the results? However, the error message you posted is not an error message set by this plugin, but by LMS(?) itself. So depending on the results of the debug log, it might be that it cannot be solved by the plugin if the problem is not related to the plugin. Version 0.12 is now released. It should soon appear in the official plugin repository list, and everyone should be offered the update (regardless if you have a 3rd party repository installed or not). Version 0.12 implements the new authentication mechanism that is required by SoundCloud. One consequence of this is that *anonymous use is no longer possible. You must have a SoundCloud account*, and you enter your API key on the plugin's settings page. If you are not logged in, every menu entry will disable a message that you must login. If your API key is no longer valid, you will see "Unauthorized", and you must also get a new API key. To get your API key go to the plugin's settings page. Click on the button 'Connect with SoundCloud'. A new popup window opens. If you're not already logged in, log in with your SoundCloud username and password. Then authorise the SqueezeCloud app to access your SoundCloud account. The popup window now displays your API key. Copy this key and paste it in the field on the settings page. Don't forget to press 'Apply' to save the API key. Thanks 505, I have upgraded to 0.11.9 and have no login problems so far. Old issues like not listing fully "following" or playing the first track instead of chosen track etc. are same. I just checked out the SoundCloud plugin for LMS that is offered in version 0.11 by contributers Siebert, Gibbon, Blackman etc. Is this the one discussed here? I am unsure where to look for more instructions or the codebase as this is nowhere in the settings or description. I can play playlists via this plugin after I registered my API key. But I can not load a soundcloud URL to play, I am getting "Unauthorized". Not really, but in low maintenance mode. I'm aware of several problems, like the 50 followers limit, or the fact that it doesn't work all that well with other skins. At the moment it's not really a priority for me to fix these things, as I don't use SoundCloud all that much. However, if any pull requests on Github I would merge without problem. I must have missed the message from dmon about this specific error. I can quickly add the missing string. That will not fix the fact you cannot play a song, but it would fix a crash of the plugin. Thanks for the plugin. So important. I actually purchased an Allo Digione Signature to run LMS and thereby use that plug. SoundCloud is my favorite, hands-down. Again many thanks. Still, I can't advance inside a track. When I click anywhere inside the progress bar, not action is taken. When I drag, the cursor changes into a '+' icon, but the ultimate massage is "No playable items found. Only audio files can be played. Secondly, the search doesn't bring expected results. I've used both SoundCleod and the SoundCloud app on my phone, and they fetch everything I look for. More importantly, I'm missing my "home" with all the recommendation, the people that follow me and I follow, and my history!! Where are the tracks I've recently listened to? Lastly, when I listen to a track that is not in my "like" list, SoundCloud forwards to a track it recommends based upon an internal algorithm. I suppose you couldn't latch onto it, could you? For example if you have 200 likes and web UI is set to show 50 on one page, there are multiple pages shown, but if you click page 2, 3 you get nothing changed, only first page listed again. But if you change settings to higher (500) items to be listed, you see them correctly listed on the first page. I don't know if same thing causing the issue, but I can't get everything listed in OrangSqueeze android app, either. I just released a new version (0.8.5) of this plugin. The error with the friends list is still there. It no longer leads to an error (as was the case with 0.8.4), but only 1 friend is retrieved. Other changes include renaming and reordering of some items, removing some items that are no supported by the API, and adding a playlists item to retrieve the user's playlists. I've added this update to my main repo, so it should be synced to the official repo shortly. If you want it earlier, add the SqueezeCloud repo manually. I am hosting the SoundCloud plugin, and have made changes to it.
However, I am not the original author, and Perl is not my speciality. In
this case, I am sure why certain things go wrong.
First of all, SoundCloud changed something in there API, and the list of
friends is now returned as part of a collection. This can easily be
fixed by changing Plugin.pm line 670 from "for my $entry (@$json) {" to

This adds the list of friends again. However, clicking on a friend
always displays the same friend. And here is where my Perl knowledge
fails me. If I read the code correctly, each of the items under a friend
should call the tracksHandler with type friend and parser parseFriend.
Clicking on a friend, however, first calls parseFriend*s* -twice- with
limit=0 and and offset for which friend is chosen. This would have
worked, however, the offset paramater is now ignored by the SoundCloud
API, and one of the friends is returned. (And this is why clicking on
all friends always displays the same friend).
I have no idea why is would not directly call parseFriend with the
correct ID for each friend, but call parseFriends twice with an offset
parameter.
If anyone knows a lot of Perl and can look at the code to give some
hints, I can change the plugin again.

I believe I have the latest version (v0.8.4) and it's not working to show "My Friends" (Following) In the LMS interface, it just hangs when I click this link. Hm, a bit weird. The request looks OK on the ickStream side, no errors. The URI it returns is OK, too, and plays fine on my setup. Does this apply to all or only certain tracks? SoundCloud streams some tracks (pretty randomly, depends on the server they are on) through SSL and LMS doesn't support that. Hi, This was raised on the previous page by mkkyah and I have the same... from any list of tracks like the new / hottest tracks or a search which ever track I select it is always the first one that plays. I use Orange Squeeze and contacted the developer of that software to see if he could fix it. He confirmed the issue and said that it looks like it is the plugin as there is the same behavior with SB Touch and SqueezePlay controllers and suspected that it is an issue with how the the SqueezeCloud plugin interfaces with Jive controllers. Interestingly the web interface works fine but the dev suggested this uses a different set of APIs. It would be fantastic if this issue could be looked at as it really spoils an excellent plugin! I've published version 0.8.4. This release contains just one small bug fix. But because it was a very annoying one, I decided to publish it straight away. Previously, in mobile apps, selecting a track would give an empty menu. You had to press-and-hold to select play. This has now been fixed, and SoundCloud tracks behave as all regular tracks. If nothing is playing, it plays the track. If something is playing, the play/play next/queue menu is displayed. You can get this release from my personal repo. Or wait for the 3rd party repo to be updated. I have found an exception to that: https://soundcloud.com/furcoatmusic/sets/dj-sets ; I don't see what's different, but if you select it, it lists the tracks in that soundcloud playlist. Two problems still exist: 1-- not all the tracks bringing context menu to play on My Dashboard. I don't know what differs but same songs on the list are bringing context menu when you touch and always same tracks doing nothing. This is only happening on My Dashboard. Now all the tracks opening Play/play next/queue menu with the last fix, but some tracks are not playing(same tracks which returned no context menu before). If you also want to play playlists you might want to give the ickStream open beta a try. I've merged the changed from rsiebert into my repository. Version 0.8.3 has also been release to my repository (http://server.vijge.net/static/squeezebox/repo.xml) @rsiebert: there was a change to all the line endings they were converted from Unix to Windows line endings. This is not so nice for the logs. Maybe you can set your editor to respect current line ending settings? @admins: can you refresh the other.xml repo, so changes are picked up for all users? In most apps, you can press and hold to bring up a menu. Press play from there to play the item. On the web interface, it works correctly. Is there an API change again? Plugin started to play all the tracks again. But there are 2 new problems: 1) if you choose a track from My dashboard, Hottest Tracks or My favorites etc., you get another track from the list played with mobile controllers (tested ipeng, orange squeeze and original Android controller). I think it always plays the first on the list.. Web UI works well, you play or add whichever track you choose. 2) Web UI always shows first page of any list of Soundcloud menu. You can choose 2., 3. pages and you see it's chosen, but the list stays the same. Just a quick update regarding this issue, so people won't have to
stubble too much regarding things that won't be possible to easily
solve.
There are two different problems:
- Access to API over https
- Streaming over https
Access to SoundCloud API over https is related to the 'Enabled peer
verification' change discussed previously in the thread and works out of
the box on some setups while some setups requires https peer
verification to be disabled.
The situation regarding streaming is that SoundCloud are currently
hosting their streams on two different servers:
- Some streams are hosted on a server that supports both http and https
- Some streams are hosted on a server that only supports https
It is possible to get it to work for the streams that are hosted on the
server that supports both http and https, but unfortunately, as I've
understood it, SoundCloud is in a migration phase where they are going
to eventually migrate everything to the server which only supports
https. The analysis done so far of the LMS/Squeezebox source code is
that LMS does not support https for streaming, neither using direct
streaming nor streaming through LMS.
We are currently looking into possible alternative solutions for
ickStream since SoundCloud is one of the services we have integrated in
our beta setup.

See the logs. Can you see the message 'Disabling SSL peer verification'? And everytime you restart LMS, you need to change it back to default, then disable peer verification again. Make sure the message appears in the log, then try to play a song.
