I'm in the middle of a presentation, so bear with the brevity.
Normally it is:
rpm -e QControlPE

What does rpm -qa | grep -i control show?

[qmailtoaster] QControl

2010-06-10 Thread Martin Waschbuesch
Hi Jake,

I just upgraded (and reinstalled) one toaster that is now running CentOS 5.5
x86_64. Everything runs just smooth and lovely, except one thing.
I (on purpose) removed all i386/i686 packages and libraries from CentOs and now
I find that QControl is not quite noarch after all:

# rpm -i QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libc.so.6 is needed by QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) is needed by QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1) is needed by QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch

# locate libc.so.6
/lib64/libc.so.6

I could, of course, reinstall the i386 lib, but just in case there could be a
different solution (e.g. a x86_64 compile) ...

Martin

Thanks for finding this. Seems I'll have to create two builds in the future.
There won't be a fix until I create the next version. If it's REALLY an
issue for you, I'll compile on a x86_64 for you and send you the executable.

[qmailtoaster] QControl-1.1-1.1.1 released

2009-09-04 Thread Jake Vickers

I've put a new version of QControl out. This is a bug-fix release.
It fixes two bugs that were brought to my attention:

Granting postmaster privileges to an account on the edit user page
should now work successfully without having to add another restriction
for it to stick.

CRs are no longer added to the end of control files that are edited in
QControl, fixing an issue with tcp.smtp not being parsed correctly after
editing in QControl. This change was applied to all files edited in
QControl.

--
For those that have already purchased a copy, this new version will be
available in your downloads section of your account (remember, when you
purchase a copy all updates for the version 1.x are free!).

If you are interested in purchasing a copy, you may do so here:
http://www.vcghosting.com/cart.php?ca=add_otheroid=6

More information on QControl is available here:
http://qcontrol.qmailtoaster.com

I will be updating the web page before too long.

I will release an updated PE version either today or over the weekend.
For now the bug fixes only apply to the full, licensed version.

As a side note, if you are interested in an application for your
Qmailtoaster server that would allow you to control it from a Blackberry
PDA, shoot me a message off-list. I have been toying with this idea for
a few weeks now and want to see if there is any interest before I start
writing the app. It would consist of a program to be installed on the
server, and a program to be installed on the Blackberry to control
functionality. Think QControl, but on your Blackberry.

Thanks!

In which case you would edit the includes.inc file for QControl to

Peter's dovecot logs are configured the same as in the stock package.
They're in /var/log/, and are rotated in the same manner as system
(messages) and other logs there (boot, cron, maillog, rpmpkgs, secure,
spooler, yum). There is no stock logwatch configuration in the stock
package though.

[qmailtoaster] QControl RPM install problem

2009-06-10 Thread Patrick Ring
I'm attempting to install QControl (unlimited... just purchased) and
after I use the command:
[r...@mail02 ~]# rpm -Uhv QControl-1\[1\].1-1.0.2.noarch.rpm

I'm getting the following error:
error: File not found by glob: QControl-1[1].1-1.0.2.noarch.rpm

I've tried re-downloading the file and trying again, with the same
result.

I'm running CentOS 5.2 and have a very up-to-date QMT running (just ran

What should I look to first?

OK. I'm answering my own question. (sorry if I'm a pest lately)
Apparently the [1] brackets in the file name causes some problem with
processing the rpm request.
I had to rename the file (without [ and ] brackets and re-run the
rpm.

[qmailtoaster] qcontrol display log

2009-05-26 Thread qmailtoaster
We have installed the Qcontrol PE (using qtp-menu) for one domain. When we
try to get any of the logs to display we get the following response:

Bad arguments; Usage: qcontrol log_file {/path/to/logfile} {number of last
lines to display} { (optional) text to search for}

We have tried to find where we need to put the paths to all the log files,
but we have been unable to locate it.

What file do we need to edit and where is it located?

Thanks

I did not get around to including licensing terms with the package. I
don't mind if you move it to different machines. I also don't mind if
you use it on 2 or 3 machines. All I ask is that if you use it on more
than 3 machines that you please purchase another copy.
As for a cluster, ideally you would have almost all of the files that
QControl edits shared between the systems for sanity so it would not
matter which machine you used it on to control the system.

Sorry, no. I utilize a couple of the utilities that I wrote that are in

At this point in time it would be counterproductive for me to try and

2008-12-02 Thread Jake Vickers

I've released QControl 1.1-1.0.1 and QControlPE 1.1-1.0.1
This is a minor bugfix release - an oversight in the PHP code did not
allow for -1 to be used as a valid entry for unlimited when editing a
domain. This issue has been fixed.

Cent4 and Cent5 versions are available at http://qcontrol.v2gnu.com
If you purchased the commercial version, it will be available in your

[qmailtoaster] QControl for CentOS 4

2008-11-18 Thread Jake Vickers
We found an issue with the gcc compiler included with Cent4 versus
Cent5. A floating point math error would result in trying to run the
QControl program on a Cent4 machine since it was compiled on a Cent5
machine.
We have compiled a Cent4 specific version, and it is now available on
the site (http://qcontrol.v2gnu.com). Remember that the free version
gives control of 1 domain.
If you purchased a copy of the commercial version (allowing unlimited
domains) then the Cent4 version will be included in your downloads
area. If you have any issue, please feel free to contact us off list.

Thanks!

[qmailtoaster] QControl-1.1-1.0.0 released!

2008-10-21 Thread Jake Vickers
QControl-1.1-1.0.0 has been released. For those that have already
purchased it, you will see the new version in your downloads section of
your profile.

Anyone wishing to purchase it may go to http://qcontrol.v2gnu.com
Please note that I moved the web page to a new server. If the web page
you view does not show what the current version is and the release date,
you may need to refresh your DNS cache to see the new page.

Couple bug fixes with the 1.1 version, namely for viewing/editing
domains NOT created using Vqadmin or QControl. The domains should
display properly now.
There is now a version check on the main page, telling you what version
you currently have installed, and what the latest version available is.

The ability to add/delete users has been added.
Updated the man pages to reflect the new commands available.
Minor other bug fixes, mostly aesthetic.

*** The FREE version is complete. I will probably put this online
tomorrow. The free version has all the same features as the commercial
version, with the only limitation being that you can only add 1 domain
with it. It is being labeled the Personal Edition.

[qmailtoaster] QControl 1.0 has been released!

2008-10-01 Thread Jake Vickers

We've finally released QControl 1.0! (qcontrol.v2gnu.com)
It is a commercial product that is available for $39.95 USD. You may
read more about it on the main site (qcontrol.v2gnu.com) where we have
screen shots available. There is a link to purchase the package on the
site.
Your purchase will entitle you to all updates/fixes until the next major
release.
It was written for CentOS 4.x and 5.x. It will work on Fedora as well,
but will require some tweaking to get working on any other distros at
this point. Other distro support will be added in the next release.

The frontend PHP code may be modified to fit your needs. Read the
included man pages on the commands available that may be utilized in
your PHP program/application. We will put a copy of the man pages
online soon.
It is very flexible and can be used with almost any other application
you wish to write.

We WILL be releasing a free version. The free version will allow you to
control 1 domain and will be released shortly (next 30 days or so).

Thanks for your support!

I hope to have a final release on October 1st. You can view information
 about the package at http://qcontrol.v2gnu.com

There is a working demo that you can try out on the site, using the code
base uploaded last evening. The demo is fully functional. The demo system
is a full CentQMT-5 installation. Port 25 is blocked for outgoing for
obvious reasons, but the system is otherwise a full install.
The package was developed on a CentQMT-5 machine, and is currently being
tested on production machines using Cent 4.2, Cent 4.6, and Fedora Core 4
all using QMT packages that are either current or have been released within
 the last 12 months.

There are a few code-cleanup items that need to be completed, as well as a
couple features that need to be added. Suggestions are welcome to the
 address provided on the site.

The site is a VMware image, and the image is reverted every night at
11:01pm EDT giving it a clean slate for new users.

Nicely done Jake. It will be a welcome addition to the toolbox! Not to
mention nice to get rid of the broken VQadmin.

On an almost related thread, I have several people who have multiple mail
domains they are admin for. Currently, they have to log in to each
individually to do the admin duties. Is there a way or could this be built
into Qcontrol at some point to have the List domains reflect only those the
current user has admin for?

Jake, I realize you requested comments to the address listed and I'm CC'ing
that but I was curious about the interest of the group as well.

Phil

I can't speak for Jake but I THINK the cost is an occasional helping hand to
the betterment of the QMT project.

Most of the things you find here work that way.

I'm curious as to the community's interest as well. I'll keep this idea
in mind - especially since it's not something I've ever thought of
before. I have not looked much at allowing a user to have admin rights
over multiple domains, nor how to implement it. I guess you could have
a config file that defined what domains a user had admin rights for; the
package currently uses a config file to define some items you want for
defaults already. When you Add a Domain, the default values that come
up are defined in the config file, so they can be set to whatever meets
your needs.

Thanks!

Jake, how are you doing configuration and services control through this
tool? If you're running the system level commands directly this might be
something to think about working around (the less system-level control
web-accessible scripts have, the better). For instance when I built a
tool to add, delete, etc. mail accounts internally, there are two
process levels to it.. the first being the actual addition of the mail
services which are done on the server side every few minutes and the
configurations being added into a DB on the web side, which should help
prevent some direct attacks and similar against a tool such as this.

when adding or editing a domain, the quota config field is labeled
Quota in Bytes: (10M = 10 MB). this led me to believe that i could
specify quota in the syntax 50M, but doing that produces an error of
Please enter numbers only for the quota! Hit your BACK button to
correct this.

is this functionality that hasn't been implemented yet? if not, it
might be a good idea to change the field text.
