Re: [OSM-talk] How to mark notes as resolved?
Hi Valent. If you are logged in on osm.org, it's possible to mark a note as resolved. Resolved notes don't vanish afterwards, but get a different icon. As far as I know, notes vanish after a certain period of time, as you guessed, yes. regards Peter Am 02.08.2013 11:27, schrieb valent.turko...@gmail.com: Hi, how to mark notes as resolved? Re: [OSM-talk] Foursquare superusers encouraged to directly edit OSM
What am I missing here A use case may be in Syria. Aid agencies want to know, for example, the location of bakeries in Syria because these have been targeted during the ongoing violence over. Someone may have checked into a bakery on FourSquare at lat=34.716286 lon=36.727005. This would then be a location that exists in FourSquare's DB, but not in the OpenStreetMap base mapping that FourSquare use in their website. We cannot, for obvious reasons, send people to Syria to map bakeries, so sources such as FourSquare may be potentially very useful. The number of locations that exist within FourSquare, but not within OSM, are numerous. This is especially true outside of Western Europe or the US. [OSM-talk] Overpass API 0.7.4: the difference operator
Dear Co-mappers, The new release 0.7.4 of Overpass API has just been deployed on http://overpass-api.de/ The Rambler instance will continue to run version 0.7.3 for some days in case of unexpected flaws in the new version. A lot of minor bugs have been fixed. More important, the query for ways on small bounding boxes is now more efficient. This speeds up http://overpass.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/ the beta prototype for a popup overlay on the main page. I've also made two extensions in the syntax: The use of Global Bounding Boxes will be subject of a later mail to talk@ when the newest version of the JOSM plugin mirrored_download has been deployed. Now I talk about the difference operator: It simplifies the kind of searches every object that has property (or is an) X, but hasn't property (or is an) Y. For example, all nodes that have a value for maxheight but aren't part of a street (a way with tag highway): http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/Ib // New in Overpass 0.7.4: the difference operator [bbox:50.6,7.0,50.8,7.3]; ( node[maxheight]; // All nodes witha value for maxheight - (way[highway];;); // that aren't part of any kind of street ); out; For the very common case has tag X, but not tag Y I suggest to carry on with [...!~...]. This is more efficient than the difference operator: http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/Ic // New in Overpass 0.7.4: the difference operator // // If the negation only covers that a certain tag is absent, you may prefer // the tag negation operator. This operator is faster than difference. [bbox:50.7,7.0,50.75,7.1]; ( way[highway=residential][name!~'.']; // ways with tag highway, but without tag name ; ); out; All details are given in the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/versions Cheers, Roland ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

This is actually where the foursquare superusers come in. You can read more about what a 4sq superuser ishttp://blog.foursquare.com/2011/05/19/growing-our-superuser-community/, but they take on the responsibility of keeping the foursquare database clean, much in the same way that we do for OSM. Location and detail accuracy is important to that group. Mind you, this is actually an exclusive group of foursquare users. My understanding is that they have to apply or be invited. Even though this thread isn't about bringing foursquare data into OSM (I have no idea what, if any, conversations around that have been held), we should definitely take note that there is an almost parallel community of extremely like-minded editors out there, and we would be lucky to have them join our community. Re: [OSM-talk] Foursquare superusers encouraged to directly edit OSM
Hi Lester I think, an initial approach would be, that foursquare would offer a subset of their data to OSM with the purpose that mappers can integrate this data into OSM. So the primary POI will be clean OSM data by definition. Obviously there could be duplicates which would be an interesting challenge to sort from the original foursquare database out before offering this to as list to OSM. Great move by Foursquare. I wouldn't mind to see more interaction between Foursquare and OSM. For instance, it's quite easy to put the entrance of POI's in OSM, which can be handy in the Foursquare app to navigate to that entrance (or for example the nearby parking lot).
Was meinst du dazu? LG, Stefan Am 2.
[Talk-it] Road book ciclistico con mappe OSM

Maybe this is caused by the improved coverage or by different reasons. I agree that we could promote somekind of exchange, maybe to learn how you guys do it in germany. Besides that, I think that you can post your questions related to tagging in here.
All, Just a heads up that this is still in the works. In the meantime, feel free to ping me with any questions, or let me know if you'd like to include your project in the sprint! I think what will help is if people can make clear asks before the event so that when the Birthday Sprint comes we can hit the ground running. I've spoken with a few of you about this, but I'll follow up off list for some projects/tasks that I think could benefit from a little Birthday Sprint love. What this means is that whoever has a project they are working on can rally their community to do a dedicated push over those two days. I'm thinking MapRoulette, new osm.orgfeatures, iD updates-- whatever. Then, we just do it! If people want to host in-person sprint day events, that's fantastic, but even though being in the same room is vastly beneficial, it's not always feasible on a project like this, so the assumption is that this will be a predominantly remote event. It's been great to see all of the enthusiasm and momentum coming out of SOTMUS, so let's keep that going with the Birthday Sprint! Cheers, Kathleen ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
[Talk-us] Mark your calendars for the #BirthdaySprint! (Now with snazzy website!)
As you all know, in honor of OpenStreetMap's 9th birthday, we are holding a Birthday Sprint http://osmlab.github.io/birthday-sprint/ next weekend, August 10th - 11th. Since we can't all be in the same room (this time), this will be a distributed code sprint, so you won't even need to get off the couch! All you'll need to do is get online, and all you'll need to bring is your enthusiasm! Whoever has an OSM project they are working on is invited to rally their communities to do a dedicated push over those two days. We already have a LOT of great projects signed up, so if you want to help, but don't know where to get started, check out our projects pagehttp://osmlab.github.io/birthday-sprint/about/, where you can find contact info, code repositories, discussion lists and more. We're working to identify tasks for non-developers as well, so keep checking back as we get closer to the date of the sprint if you don't see anything you feel comfortable contributing to just yet. These are the projects that are signed up so far: - OSM Groups - HOT Website updates - HOT cross-site toolbar - Complete iD integration into tasking server - WikiMaps - Historical OSM - Hashtag Aggregation - Social Feature Planning (UX workshop) - DC Building Import We're excited about all of the enthusiasm that we've heard so far, but this list isn't done yet! If you've got a project you'd like to add feel free to hit me up, or fork the github page. All we ask is that someone take ownership for the sprint, you provide a place where contributors can find tasks and ongoing discussion, and bring a lot of enthusiasm! Finally, even though this is a distributed code sprint, there are a few in-person events popping up (in DC, SF, and Salt Lake City). Find details here http://osmlab.github.io/birthday-sprint/locations/, and let us know if you're planning an in-person event too! Re: [Talk-us] Shining example of OSM use, tarnished.
I've seen some data in there that I clearly added back in March of 2012 in the Pittsburgh, PA area (new exit numbers on PA-28). So, the data isn't 4 years old like some people suggest. -James ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
[Talk-cl] Propuesta #editathon hispanoamericana
