[OSM-talk-be] vergelijking OSM met nieuwe antwerpse stratenlijst
Of course I can add Access constraints element to the service metadata ows:AccessConstraintsData from OSM, license CC-BY-SA/ows:AccessConstraints I'd say that is satisfying attribution needs, because it is the normal way to attribute a WFS-Layer (reasonable according to the medium). cheers, Martin ___ legal-talk mailing list legal-talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/legal-talk

Dave F. dave...@... writes: OS Opendata compatibility with the new proposed license Contribution Terms as they're worded *at this moment*. The current contributor terms for new accounts require you grant a licence to the OSMF to do 'any act that is restricted by copyright', subject to section 3 which says that OSMF will distribute under CC-BY-SA, ODbL/DbCL, or 'another free and open licence'. Since you are not the copyright holder for the OS OpenData content, I don't believe you can grant such a licence to the OSMF. If you interpret the text more loosely and don't require that you grant a licence as it says, but instead that you make sure the OSMF has the necessary permission one way or another, then they still aren't quite right, because the permission given by the Ordnance Survey doesn't really allow 'any free and open licence'. That's my understanding of the language in the current terms and conditions, but I would welcome any corrections. However, where ambiguity exists, it might be wise to take the more conservative interpretation. -- Ed Avis e...@waniasset.com ___ legal-talk mailing list legal-talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/legal-talk

This is exactly the problem I see with the proposed CT's that many people have already voiced. It creates an incompatibility with any non-PD data sources. The CT's llow the possible relicense of OSM data in the future, but that comes at the price of restricting any incorperation of any free but not PD datasets into OSM. But I suppose if that is what the OSMF wants then that is fine thats their choice. ___ legal-talk mailing list legal-talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/legal-talk

[OSM-talk] Error on boundaries + issues with Abkhazia/South Ossetia/disputed territories
Hello everyone, I am new on this list, but active on talk-it since some time, so forgive me if this has been already discussed here... I've been looking at the Caucasus region in where I was recently and [1] I noticed some anomalies: - Azerbaijan border with Georgia, but it is not marked as country but region boundary [2] with tag: *admin_level:* 2 *border_type:* nation *boundary:*administrative *left: country:* GE *name:* International Border - Georgia - Azerbaijan *right: country:* AZ . Is it some error? - The administrative boundary between some regions and autonomous republics of North Caucasus was marked as country border [3] while it should be merely an administrative one - Depending on the points of view, the border Georgia / Abkhazia [4] now marked as an administrative can be marked as country border. For example, Kosovo is marked likewise (with a country border), although not recognized internationally by the majority of countries (36% of the total recognize it) and it isn't even listed on ISO-3166-1 / UN [5], as well as Abkhazia (4 UN member states recognize it). From a de facto point of view (and for some countries de jure) Abkhazia is a fully independent state from Georgia (I noticed it personally while there) and as far as the Georgians say, it is no longer under Georgia's influence or control and it will be like that also in the future. What would you say to a cartographic point of view? from a tourist point of view, for example, it is a separate entity from Georgia (you pass a border control, there is a visa...), so a tourist-oriented map would logically draw it as a separate country. Generally speaking about any kind of disputed terriories, is there any way to keep both POV tagging boundaries as Disputed / Recognized by Some states/something else? Then, if we want to develop OSM in this country, it goes without saying that if locals will see the boundaries as they are now (as part of Georgia region, unrealistic and not corresponding to reality), they will never agree to use OSM! ... while it would be reasonable to use OSM extensively, since for example Google has no map of Abkhazia, and instead there's something already on OSM. - what is the standard for naming of places? What has to be put in name, in int_name tags? Which is the scale of priority? local language I suppose... so capital of Abkhazia, Sukhum, should be tagged as name=Аҟəа (local abkhazian name) name:ru=Сухум name:ka= სოხუმი , int_name=Sukhum; Sukhumi ; etc... I've been getting this error lately as I'm working on an overly-dense area (Kern County, CA, USA), where imports that include every structure, individual trees, overly-digitized landuses, etc. have resulted in very high data density. I found that a large amount of data can be removed without any noticeable effect on quality by simplifying the landuse areas, using JOSM and a very conservative simplify-way.max-error setting of 0.3. However, after a short time, I'm now getting these 509 errors. This isn't a game. It's not abuse. I'm trying to work and being stopped. The limit was apparently set to absolute numbers, without regard for the density of the area being worked on, which may be hundreds of times what it is elsewhere. [OSM-talk-nl] nacontrole Drenthe gereed
