[Talk-transit] FYI - Creating GTFS data from OSM data
This project falls in the Why would anybody want to do that? [1] category. - The OSM bus route paths and stops have all been surveyed in my area. - There is no GTFS feed, and the transit provider isn't planning one soon (no budget). - I wanted to apply the data to OpenTripPlanner for bicycle and transit routing. There are some free GTFS editors, some paid products, but none that start with maximum use of OSM data as a base to create an initial GTFS feed. I had toyed briefly with teaching the local transit provider how to maintain routes and stops in OSM, but a few passes at editing route relations quickly cured me of that idea - public transport route relation edits are way too complicated for most people. So I wrote a tool to read the OSM data, allow entry of the schedules, then it would create a GTFS dataset. Future GTFS edits would be made by the transit provider with industry standard tools. The tool is written in C# / .NET - Winforms. It is in alpha stage (Worked great for me), but it's a little rough around the edges, and probably would require running in the debugger to adapt for another public transit system or to determine if a problem is caused by the OSM data or a program bug. Let me know off list if you're interested in looking at the program. Dear everyone, Are there people doing remapping efforts [0]? Any updates so far? I did a couple today in San Juan, MM mostly re-connecting the major roads and trying to remember some of my work 5 years ago. AFAIK, San Juan has a lot of oneway roads. I didn't add any way restrictions because my memory is flakey these days. I'm asking because: 1. I lost track of recent OSM-PH mapping development the past months; 2. I want to update my OSM PostGIS db. Ian Lopez did a lot of the post-redaction mapping in San Juan, Angeles, and Parañaque. There are still lots to be done however. Hi all, I know OSM for a long time but so far I could not contribute to this project. As I would have more time from now, I'd be glad to contribute to mapping! I'm planning to get a GPS and make some mapping, especially in my poorly-mapped area: Province du Luxembourg, and other places, mainly in Wallonie. By the way, thanks to my last job, I know some friends who are now working in the new (2 years old) cellule géomatique from the Walloon government. I already told them many times about OSM and they could be helpful in the process of making free some GIS data or at least to get some information about the inside job of the administration... I also worked a lot on GIS and webmapping apps using OpenLayers, among others. Hope to contribute and see you soon! Welcome to OSM. I'm a mapper on the complete opposite side of the country (near Roeselare, West-Flanders). The era of pure GPS devices is almost over, most smartphones and tablets have a decent GPS now, and the quality difference is minimal. The only requirement is that you can export the GPX track. Some commercial car navigation devices don't have this possibility. I map with an Android phone, and there are a lot of apps available to help in mapping, and also apps that use the OSM data. The most important thing is that you make notes while you map (obvious things like streetnames, but also all kind of POI like restaurants and pubs, and as much information you can gather about those features: addresses, websites, smoothness of tracks ...). You can note it down with certain smartphone apps, or on printed maps. To get an idea what you can map, take a look at the map featureshttp://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_features(may take long to load), and the specific Belgian conventions http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Belgium. Regarding the GIS work, there are some Wallonian mappers busy with contacting the government to get GIS data. I can't help a lot with that, as it seems to be divided between Flanders and Wallonia. Hallo, I started contributing to OSM some weeks ago after I bought a Garmin Etrex 20 for bike navigation. This Etrex 20 is a new type that also uses Russian satellites. (it is not on the Wiki review list). I found it in my region for 169 EUR. It works fine. It makes gpx files that can be used directly for OSM. I use it to gather the gpx data of small unpaved paths and tracks. But you can also start contributing to OSM without a GPS, using the Bing satellite photo's that are on a layer in the OSM editor Potlatch2 to put things you notice or know on the map. Last time I looked parts of the Murray River border NSW/Vic were missing, and we should probably reconstruct these from the river itself, seeing that (the southern bank) is the border defined. Unfortunately the river is currently only defined by a single way. So this would require manual tracing the southern bank from aerial images. And I guess the legal definition of the bank for the border is probably different from OSM's definition for the riverbank. What other non-straight parts are we missing? I think only the eastern part of the QLD-NSW border. By the way, I think the entire national border of Australia is also gone. But let's do one step after another... Here some details: - the easter border from the souternmost corner to the Monlonglo River north of Queanbeyan had already been present - there had been a border around Kowen Forest with source=ABS_2006; Federal electoral boundary GIS data but much coarser compared to the new data. The existing nodes coincided with nodes of the new data. So I have considered the new data as an improvement and added them. - Some of the segment from above had been part of relations for districts so I also updated these relations as appropriate - first I assumed that Jervis Bay is part of the ACT. I just noticed that it's an territory on it's own and added an separate relation later - the seaward border of Jervis Bay didn't match the coastline in OSM so I dropped it completely. I think the seward borders should be covered together with the national border anyway. Now some of the existing areas for National Parks etc. don't accurately match the border although they probably shold (e.g. [1]). In general again I found the new data to show more detail than what had been present. Wie ihr an der Reaktionszeit seht, ist mir OSM Beschäftigung für (rare) wirklich freie Minuten. Spannend für mich aus euren Antworten: Rauszufinden, wie ich das Design für eine gängige Karte (z.B. Mapnik) selber mit Daten von OSM rendern lassen kann und z.B. für einen Anfahrtsplan dem Zielpunkt noch ein paar Informationen mitgeben, die tatsächlich auf einer normalen Karte nicht gebraucht werden oder gar stören. Pero me compré el GPS porque el cuando trazaba con el teléfono la batería la drena y se calentaba en ese momento (Motorola Cliq), y en ciertas ocasiones la aplicación de tanto grabar se quedaba como clavada... Con el GPS puedo viajar y la batería me dura días (ahora voy a probar unas nuevas que compré eneloop). Actualmente tengo una cámara Nikon AW100 pero no he podido revisar desde linux la data de posicionamiento... Trae un software para Windows y quizás tendré que instalarlo :/ ... Para poder tomar fotos con data satelital que es un plus. [Talk-it] Sistemazione confini amministrativi
Ho appena ripristinato alcune parti dei confini amministrativi di alcuni comuni a nord di Luino (Varese). Per il ripristino ho usato i dati istat 2011. Questo e' il changeset: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/12759496 Siccome e' la prima volta che lavoro con i confini, chiedo a qualcuno di piu' esperto di fare un controllo. Ho anche eliminato parte dei nodi rimasti orfani dopo il passaggio del bot. Spostare i punti rimasti per farli coincidere col nuovo confine era troppo lungo... Per ogni parola, esclusa la prima che dovrebbe essere via-quartiere o roba del genere, consento al massimo 3 edit. Potrebbe essere utile mettere le due stringhe tutte minuscole prima di fare il calcolo della distanza. Il problema che mi son trovato è che a volte ci sono vie nel comune (secondarie) che non esistono su OSM. Quindi è opportuno individuarle, inserirle / correggerle e poi finire l'import. Al momento ho portato tutto in pgsql e sto usando la funzione di similiarita' fra stringhe. http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/pgtrgm.html Prima pero' mi sono creato una tabella dove le strade che ho in osm incrociano le strade che ho nel file .shp (ma dovro' fare maggiori controlli e, immagino, usare anche un buffer) Se una strada in osm, incrocia una in quella del file .shp, allora vado a calcolare la similarita' fra i nomi. Elimino da subito quelle che hanno similarita' uguale a zero e dove la stringa del nome e' vuota (in entrambi i casi). Sicuramente non basta. [Talk-ca] Proposed mechanical edits: GeoBase/CanVec Service Surface and GeoBase/CanVec name spaces
The easiest way to fix this may just be with a text editor and xapi/overpass queries. First do a query to get a file of affected objects in a given area, then load the area in a text editor and do a search for the double space. Jumping the search ahead should take you not only to the given object like josm would but should position your cursor right on the affected spot. This way you can check that you are not breaking anything before correcting the space and moving on. Alternatively the search and replace mechanism in the editor could be used, either manually or if we know for sure it is acceptable to do, a replace all. I tried doing a taginfo query to find out how many objects were affected but couldn't figure out a syntax to work correctly. Pareil : pas locality, c'est pas fait pour, et ce serait tagguer pour le rendu. De plus je ne suis pas tout à fait d'accord avec ton raccourcis locality c'est (généralement) pour les lieux-dits place=locality c'est à utiliser pour un lieu, ayant un nom, n'ayant pas de population et pour lequel aucun autre tag existant ne s'applique. Mais là où tu te trompes complètement, c'est qu'il y a aussi beaucoup de places avec des adresses et des voies qui portent le nom de celles-ci. C'est juste une question de taille. Je te conseille fortement d'aller voir les données OSM sur les places les plus célèbres de grandes villes avant de continuer. Il sera affiché par Mapnik mais aucun logiciel ne saura ce que c'est (area=yes est normalement toujours couplé avec un highway pour dire que c'est une surface et non une boucle fermée). Ca ne me gênerai pas que ça soit découpé sur cadastre.openstreetmap.fr, si ça pouvait éviter des imports partiels qui sont parfois bien longs à corriger... Pour savoir si les serveurs on du retard, il y a munin: http://munin.openstreetmap.fr/ Chaque lag est disponible sous forme de graphe. osm7 est en retard (pépin sur la base postgres): c'est la base utilisé par mes scripts sur openstreetmap.fr/outils osm102 est à jour: utilisé par layers (entre autre) osm103 est à jour: c'est api.openstreetmap.fr / XAPI / overpass Si ça n'a pas l'air à jour parce que quelque chose qu'on a créé/modifié n'apparait pas quelque part, c'est peut être aussi qu'il y a un problème dans ce qu'on a créé/modifié. A titre perso, je ne suis jamais tombé sur un problème de mise à jour des bases, mais c'est que j'avais un problème dans ce que j'avais créé/modifié. Bonjour tout le monde, Je crois que je me suis pas encore présenté ; alors j'en profite avec ce message : Simon Sigiste dans la Marne ; Je cartographie principalement dans cette région et un peu en Bretagne. en regardant les problèmes rencontrés sur les EPCI : http://openstreetmap.fr/outils/epci je me suis aperçu qu'une limite communale avait été supprimé par un contributeur: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/35085887/history je me demandais quelles sont dans ce genre de cas les possibilités d'annuler? Sinon j'ai vu qu'une application mobile utilise le fond OSM Sports Tracker : http://www.sports-tracker.com/ et donne la possibilité d'enregistrer des chemins ; je l'ai testé sur un nokia avec un gps qui tourne moyennement mais ça à l'air de fonctionner quand même. vous en avez peut être déjà parler sur cette liste ou autre? Avec les données France de cette nuit (Geofabrik), on compte quand même 573 communes qui n'ont aucun node place dans leur emprise, ceci suite au passage du Redaction bot. Beaucoup de département concernés, mais à chaque fois avec peu de points. Il n'y a pas dans le cadastre un découpage naturel déjà ? Au moins par feuille cadastrale, les feuilles étant indexées autour de quartiers, voire de bloc peu étendus dans les villes, et déjà selon les axes de circulation qui délimitent les zones cadastrales. Et je le répète il n'y avait aucun problème dans ce que j'avais créé. C'est bien le serveur layers qui n'avait pas vu les modifs pendant 10 jours, et c'est l'usage de /dirty sur les tuiles qui l'a forcé à relire ce qu'il a oublié de relever dans les modifs de la base (peut-être parce que son serveur n'est PAS à l'heure et avance d'au moins 3 minutes). Parfois, celui-ci s'explique par le recalage du bâti par rapport aux repères géodésiques, mais ici le cadastre est plutôt bien calé (un léger décalage de moins d'un mètre, voir le repère de l'église). Ce décalage des bâtiments est donc étrange. Avant de corriger, pourquoi ne pas demander à l'auteur de l'import (PatDi, [1]) s'il a décalé les bâtiments volontairement, et si oui pour quelles raisons. Si non, il doit être possible que lors d'une mise à jour le cadastre fut recalé, entraînant un décalage par rapport à l'import plus ancien. Cordialement. Il y a des repères géodésiques sur l'église, un en haut du clocher, et un sur la marche d'entrée. Le top serait d'aller sur place et de voir si ce repère est bien au milieu de la marche comme le suggère le cadastre. Note : Les bâtiments à cheval sur plusieurs communes (et même sur plusieurs pays) ça existe (même au milieu d'un même logement)... Ce n'est pas une erreur du cadastre ou d'OSM. Il y a des cas bien réels sur la frontière franco-belge, franco-suisse, et franco-monégasque. Mais aussi entre deux communes françaises. Why can I not copy the large files to my new SD card? If you buy a new card (especially SDHC), some are FAT16 from the factory. I had to reformat it to let me create a 2GB file. Does your map cover Mexico/Canada? Yes!! I have, for the purposes of this map, annexed Ontario in to the USA. Some areas of North America that are close to the US also just happen to get pulled in to these maps. I agree. I think that the distance of road over which 'is it a motorway' should be asked is somewhere between 2 and 5 miles; certainly between 1 and 20.
