I just did a quick survey of the notes attached at the BT Report at https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=3944 All but 2 or 3 who wrote confirming notes said they were using either XP or Win2000. There were several, writing notes about the middle of October, who did not specify the OS in the note. It may not be, however, specific to an OS, but only specific to some other mix of applications on the particular OS. I've been opening and closing TB just for the fun of it and all I can say is both operations including deleting the trash and compressing the folders is now lightening fast compared to the previous version. And no matter how much I open and close it, it just won't freeze. I'm happy to say I'm choughed to bits with this version... Since it does happen for me, but not always, I'm going to try to test Marck's theory--something also that Stuart Cuddy thought earlier might be the cause--that the hang-up happens when trying to close only a minute or so after a mail check. I'm going to try to be a good researcher and keep an exact record of the number of times, and whether shortly after a mail check, it hangs. So now I'm going on the theory that length of time since launch may be a factor. I'm going to keep TB! up for the next 2 hours and see if the bug is then reproducible. When TB! is frozen after refusing to close, the Task Manager says that the CPU is running between 0-4%. Mostly at zero, since the only other application that I run with The Bat! is F-Secure.
