Hi I've just done the self same and all works OK. However, by chance I've found that TB! isn't picking up all my emails. They are all there on the server, I've even reset the missing ones as unread but it still won't see them. All my other clients like my iphone see them no bother. I'm using POP3 where my iphone is set up as IMAP. Any pointers would be gratefully received. IMAP and attachments
Hi With the current version I have decided to revisit IMAP4 mail handling. It all seems to be working quite well other than handling attachments. A attachments are received as 'part.att' which means I can't open them with their default programs. I can, however, save the attached file and rename it with the correct file extension which seems to work. Any suggestions how I can repair this odd behaviour? IMAP and attachments
Hi My office fax system sends an email out when a fax is either sent or received. The fax is attached as a PDF file. Recently since I've moved over to IMAP I've noticed that the attachment is always named 'part.att' when it should be of the form .pdf. If I save and rename the attachment with a .pdf extension I can view the file but it seems an unnecessary action. I have checked with the fax software vendor and they can throw no light on it, so I'm starting to suspect TheBat! And IMAP. When I used POP3 it was never an issue. Any ideas? Transfer from old to new PC
Hi all I'm setting up a new PC and I intend to use IMAP. So far so good but I would like to transfer all my settings from my old setup without any emails. I've installed 5.3.6.0 on the new machine and IMAP seems so far to be working well. My old system was based around POP3 and will serve as a backup of old mail. Is there a straight forward way to do this? TIA Barry Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hi I have a filter that has been in use for many years that filters all emails addressed to a specific address, it moves them to a folder marks the message as Read and then Parks it. This has worked well for a long time but since the upgrade to V5 has stopped functioning properly, it's almost as if the message is parked before it is moved so I end up with the original in the Inbox marked as Read and Parked with a copy being put in the other folder also marked as Read and Parked. Near disaster averted with 5.0.8
Hi Now I don't know how this came about, but thank goodness for backups! I installed 5.0.8 last weekend, unbeknown to me there is an option in the Additional Folder Properties to Remove Old Messages on Exit. This box was ticked, I am positive I didn't tick it, but the other two options to designate either the maximum number of stored messages or the number of days to keep messages in the base were NOT ticked. Nonetheless all my messages in the Inbox were removed the first time I exited V5.0.8, all 16,000 of them! Worryingly I couldn't recover them by browsing deleted messages they had vanished forever. Thankfully my weekly system backup had the message base file intact so it turned out to be a relatively simple process to import the message base for that folder. Needless to say I've been through ALL the folder properties to make sure the option is unticked, but as to how got ticked in the first place is a bit of a mystery. "If..then..else" in macros
Hi all Is there an If..then construct in the macros? I would like to set up a macro that checks for the account being used in a new message or a reply and then based on the account include a particular file. I've tried using the address book but the problem i seems to be that TB uses the first name found in the address book and in my setup I have the same name and email address for several entries. But they are used in different accounts so if I could tie to the account rather than the name it would work for me, I think? e.g. In Account 1 I send to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include file1 In Account 2 I send to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include file2 Look forward to seeing your responses. -- Best regards Barry barryh'at'kentra'dot'co'dot'uk Using TheBat! version 3.95.06 and AntispamSniper 1.7.0.8 Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

That's a good suggestion Mark, I don't know whether that would be allowable or not. I have had a play around and I think the %attachfile route is the simplest for me. At least all the 'legalease' rests in one place! I've just pulled this off the web: *** The Companies (Registrar, Languages and Trading Disclosure) Regulations 2006 requires every company email signature should include: Company name and geographic address, including both the trading and registered names if these are different. Both the trading address and the registered office address must be given. My Sigs are getting bigger than my messages!
Hi all Some of you may be aware of the recent change in UK Company law that requires certain information to be included on web sites and in emails, viz: "Every company needs to list its company registration number, place of registration and registered office address on its website and in emails." Now that's OK, but I have a number of different signatures in my address book for specific contacts and groups. Keeping on top of these changes is in danger of becoming a major task! What I would like to do is have a central location (a small text file perhaps?) that contains this required information that is automatically added to the end of every email on an account basis. Can this be done? If it can, how? I look forward to your suggestions! ;) -- Best regards Barry barryh'at'kentra'dot'co'dot'uk Using TheBat! version 3.95.06 and AntispamSniper 1.7.0.8 Current version is 3.95.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

So I turned check mail at startup off, however the problem still occurs. Upgrading to 3.95 has made no difference. Does anyone else experience this? Do you have TB! set to check accounts automatically at intervals? I used to have no check on start up, followed by check at 15min; and 15min after start up my accounts would then be checked automatically. After a recent upgrade this changed so that even with "check on startup" off TB! would still check accounts on startup if a check interval was set. I seem to recall that the problem occurs when the mail folder is not in the 'default' location, i.e. as part of the TB program folder group. IIRC I *think* I got over the problem by creating two 'dummy' files using notepad and manually copying them to the 'new' Bayesit location. Once BayesIt managed to write some extra entries to this location then everything worked OK afterwards. Make doubly sure that the folder locations are EXACTLY where they should be in the Bayeit options. And, make sure that you haven't got TWO copies of BayesIt installed in different locations. I had these problems a few versions ago and up to now subsequent program 'upgrades' have worked OK. Hi all After a brief flirtation with Thunderbird I've come back to TB! I particularly didn't like the fact that AVG couldn't scan any of my incoming mail. What Triggers 'Read' Filter
Hi I know this may be a really dumb question! But what actually triggers the 'Read' filter? Is it the action of actually reading the mail OR is it the fact that a mail has been read? I ask because I would like a filter that moves mails that have been read and are of a certain age to a specified folder. I want to archive certain messages when they reach a specific age and I have read them. I tried the 'Alternative deletion method for purging folders' but it doesn't seem to work the way I want as my archive folder ends up with messages I don't want to keep. Somehow TB thought that my installation of Bayesit was still 0.8.0 even though the plugin selected was the correct file, 0.8.1 It was a bugger to get TB to recognise the newest plugin file but perseverance prevailed. Finally I had to find the location of the language file (*.lng) and once that was correctly selected everything now seems to be OK. More observation on Bayesit!
Hi Well I'm still persevering! I've now transcribed 83 different regex rules over to Bayesit. I extracted them from my copy of MailWasher. This seems to have made a dramatic improvement in spam catching. I've now reduced the spam failures from 100% (really!) to below 54% in two days. Looking at the logs it appears that the rules catch the majority of offenders.. If anyone else would like to try my rule set let me know and I'll email the file over. -- Best regards Barry Using TheBat! version 3.0.1.33 and BayesIt! 0.8.0 Release Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I've since re-applied 0.8.0 now that I've got the dictionaries created. I was having a look at the Bayesit log file and I noticed that after every use of TheBat! I was getting: "17.02.2005 15:03:46 Current recalculation session is interrupted." When I use TheBat! to check my email I'll start the program to download the mail and if there is nothing of interest I'll junk the Spam and close the program down. Normally this doesn't take longer a minute thanks to my ADSL connection. Could this be that this isn't sufficient time for Bayesit to retrain and rewrite the dictionaries as a background operation? And, if it isn't could this be an area of the program that needs revising? After all, I can't be the only person that uses TheBat! in this way? ;-) -- Best regards Barry Using TheBat! version 3.0.1.33 and BayesIt! 0.8.0 Release (again) Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

So I've trained up with a 1000 spam and 1000 nonspam mails, so let's see how 0.7.3 gets on. Fingers crossed, but I'm sceptical. ;-) -- Best regards Barry Using TheBat! version 3.0.1.33 and BayesIt! 0.7.3 Release Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
