[tw] [TW5] ControlPanel: bad count for Number of overridden shadow tiddlers
While trying to display the overridden shadows tiddler by copying the filter in the ControlPanel's counter, I got no result althought I had modified $:/SiteTitle, $:/SiteSubtitle and $:/DefaultTiddlers. After some tests, it appears that this filter [!is[system]is[shadow]] only selects the GettingStarted tiddler if it has been modified (as it is in fact the only non-system shadow tiddler)... so the result can only be 0 or 1. If the objective is to count the total number of overridden shadow tiddlers, I think the filter [!is[system]is[shadow]] [is[system]is[shadow]] would be better: it also selects the system tiddlers which are shadow tiddlers too, for example the modified $:/SiteTitle... or a modified $:/core/ui/PageMacros. I've also noticed that [is[shadow]is[system]] is not the same as [is[system]is[shadow]], and it is logical: - the first selects all the shadow tiddlers, and among them the system tiddlers, so the results are all the shadow tiddlers beginning with $:/ (ie all except GettingStarted) - the second selects all the (existing) system tiddlers, and among them the shadow tiddlers, so the results are only the overridden shadow system tiddlers (ie all overridden shadow tiddler except GettingStarted) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: Application that writes a TiddlyWiki
I know it's possible to import a selection of several images from the file system. If the outputs of your program is some .txt files in a directory, import from that directory with select all, each file will become a tiddler. The drawback is that your tiddlers will be named with the .txt extension, and that the type field will be text/plain... Alternatively, you should give a look at TiddlyWiki with node.js, as I think it is possible to have a subdirectory of .tid files containing text (your programm will have to generate such files) and that can be included as tiddlers in a TiddlyWiki edition (althought I've still not tested that). [tw] [TW5] text with and ' in Text widget
I really appreciate the new Text widget, which answers to a need of non-wikified text both part of a tiddler (not an entire tiddler) and without code formatting. However, why is the text in a attribute, instead of in the content of the widget? Such a choice prevents from using and ' in the same text, as one of them is used for delimiting the attribute. If you open the information pannel (the i icon of a tiddler) and then you check the tabs references, tagging and listed before changing the tiddler's name, you'll see all the places you'll have to update links. I miss this function too (with ## or something else). Even if one can say a section could be a tiddler by itself, sometimes you don't want to multiply your number of tiddlers by 10 with only a couple of lines each time. In TWC, I often used the sections with the /% %/ syntax for defining a piece of hidden wikitext somewhere in a tiddler, and I used it elsewhere, especially in table cells. With a similar trick, sections could also be useful in order to simulate inline tabs (if the list of tabs can include a text reference to a section). [tw] Re: [TW5] [FR] section (heading) link
I miss this function too (with ## or something else), but I knew the argument would be a section could be a tiddler by itself. However I wonder if, when you want to re-use only a couple of lines, a real tiddler does not take more place (in terms of file size) than a section ? I've thought to use DataTiddler for a kind of Glossary, but I've been stopped by the impossibility to have spaces in the name part of the name:value couple, and I don't want a tiddler by word. Because long lists (recent, alphabetic) are a pain to scroll throught, this approach also means that users will have to think a lot more at the structure they want for their TW (how to expose/hide main tiddlers and utility tiddlers, ...), where they could only focus on writing their notes. I don't say that there are no solutions: quite the reverse, there are a lot of possibilities, but they need some planning, uderstanding and tweakink. That remind me that I think some people may miss the TWC MainMenu: it would have been useful to point the main tiddlers of a wiki, and it's quite different than the DefaultTiddler and the Open tab. Maybe a core-built Menu tab in the sidebar would be a good idea, where users could only list tiddlers or build something more complex as Albertononi has done? [tw] Re: using TW5 for study
Sorry, my english (and sometimes my thoughts) may not be accurate enough to explain with simplicity what to do exactly. I've verified and I have no error in the tiddler where I use the macro. I've not managed to reproduce your exact error. Which solution did you tried, the macro inside the tiddler or inside the PagesMacro tiddler? It is normal that the PagesMacro tiddler gives a recursion error when viewing it (Jeremy has explained that recently). However, when you edit it, you need to place the macro before the last line (which contains ) Some shadow/tiddlers of the core TiddlyWiki are build in the way that when you view them there is an error, but if you edit them you can see their content. So it doesn't matter if it is in the PagesMacro tiddler. You do not need to modify the ListItemTemplate tiddler (it is only used as a template to display the results as a list of link with linebreaks). @Jeremy: in fact, I'm currently working on a French guide (without translating the core, and my translations aren't always perfect, especially when it becomes too technical for me, like some mechanisms) with tips taken from the TW5 site and some community's guides. My first intention was only to have a personal reminder of the commands and some customization tips, but it is on the way to become a real guide (but without the saving methods), so I'm considering to share it (and now that I've wrote it... I'll have to do it !). It's very instructive, as you can see it ! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: using TW5 for study
You can't use the usual search tool for fields, but you can use the list widget to search into them: $list filter=[organ[liver]] template=$:/core/ui/ListItemTemplate/ - all the tiddlers with the field organ = liver You may have a tiddler SearchFields with this list, and edit it to make another search (I'm sure it would even be possible to use some widgets (edit, button, set...) to make a nice search text area). You can also define a macro in order to use it with parameters: \define search-field(field,search) $list filter=[$field$[$search$]] template=$:/core/ui/ListItemTemplate/ \end and then in the same tiddler: search-field field:organ search:liver - you can built a tiddler with several searches pre-defined. If you put the macro in the system tiddler $:/core/ui/PageMacros, save and then reload the wiki, the macro should even be accessible in any tiddler (for exemple, a tiddler for each organ, a tiddler for each color, ... each of them containing the list of related tiddlers). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: TW5 - Making a global macro
Maybe is it a sort of hack and it may not be conserved in the release version, but for now a macro defined in the shadow tiddler $:/core/ui/PageMacros is usable anywhere in the TiddlyWiki (you only have to save and reload the wiki after having defined the macro). Sorry, until you modify it it's a shadow tiddler, not a system one. [tw] Re: TW5 - Making a global macro
The tabs macro is currently in this PageMacros tiddler, so you're right: there may be copy/paste to do if a version modify this tiddler, and a release may even simply delete it. For now, I haven't encountered upgrade issues with 5.0.5 and 5.0.6. (my overridden PageMacros is imported in the new empty wiki). So it is for me a temporary but useful solution as I'm not a JS programmer, until an official solution for global macros is provided. And I make sure I compare the tiddlywiki.com PageMacros and mine at each release in order to verify if any change has been made. [tw] Re: [TW5] How do (should) I start a new line in a Tiddler?
Maybe linebreak or other full English words are clearer for you, but it may not be for all people whose native langage is different. The interface of TiddlyWiki could be translated (as it has been for TWC, and for Chinese TW5) for non English-speaking people, but it may be more difficult to translate all the markup used. In this regard, symbols seem better. If you are not pleased with the wikiText for TW5, maybe can you look at the MarkDown one, which is supported by TW5 thanks to a plugin (see http://tiddlywiki.com/markdowndemo.html) ? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: [TW5] Encoding issues
I had a similar issue some weeks ago (5th of august). I created a TW5 at my office, in French (so with some é, è, ê, î, à, ...), then copied it on a USB key to copy it at home : all accented characters had been replaced by a black diamond-shaped character. I retried on the 22th of october with a newly empty.html file and didn't get the issue, but I transfered the file by mail draft instead of USB key. No problem since that. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. In my case, at the office and at home : Windows 7, Firefox (I don't remember the version, but probably up to date the 5th of august) and saving with the TW5 save button + Tiddlyfox extension (1.0alpha18) The only things I have changed until now : a newer version of Firefox (25), and a newer empty.html file (after the fix for the search in binary pictures tiddlers) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: How to hide edit button in multiple browsers, specifically Firefox and Chrome?
Hi Eric, I don't know if it helps or not, but it seems like Username1 then is the name that you put as your author name in the TiddlyWiki. I copied/pasted the code I was given above and replaced MyName with my username I was writing with, tagged the tiddler with systemConfig, and it worked fine to let me still edit the document. That being said, I didn't try to have someone else edit the document at that point. I was doing a sequence of tweaks at the end, so I made some tweaks to StyleSheet, created the ReadOnly tiddler with this code, made a tweak to SidebarOptions, and then returned to the ALWAYS read only code (window.readOnly=true;) and then absolutely no one can edit it. For me, it worked to have an editable TiddlyWiki and a read only TiddlyWiki, so I didn't need to necessarily edit one document later. Hope my experience helps a little! [tw] Re: How to hide edit button in multiple browsers, specifically Firefox and Chrome?
Thanks so much, Eric! You're right--I was working in StyleSheet, but this ReadOnly tiddler was much easier. I now don't have any edit buttons in Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. :) On Tuesday, May 8, 2012 4:08:07 PM UTC-4, Eric Shulman wrote: On May 8, 6:18 am, Julie radac...@gmail.com wrote: I've been working with this code, which hides the edit button in IE fine: script if (!readOnly) return slider chkSliderOptionsPanel OptionsPanel options » Change TiddlyWiki advanced options; /script But now, I see in Firefox and in Chrome, I have that edit button, but I do not want people to be able to make changes on any browser, so how do I make the TiddlyWiki read only in all browsers? Normally, the readOnly flag is automatically set during startup whenever a TW document is viewed via http: protocol. This automatic handling can be overridden by setting the option chkHttpReadOnly checkbox to false, so that the document will be editable, even over http. You want to do the opposite... you want to ensure that the document is NOT editable, regardless of how (or by whome) it is being viewed. Unlike the normal use-case above, there is no option chkSomething you can set to do this. Instead, you need to force the TWCore's internal global 'readOnly' flag to be set to true by creating a tiddler (e.g. SetReadOnly), tagged with systemConfig, containing this line: window.readOnly=true; When you save-and-reload the document, the SetReadOnly tiddler will be invoked (because of the systemConfig tag) and the readOnly flag will be set. However, this makes the document completely non- editable for *everyone*, even *you*! To work around this, you can enhance the above line of code like this: window.readOnly==(config.options.txtUserName!=MyName); replacing MyName with *your* TW username (the one you set via option txtUserName in the sidebar options panel). Instead of always setting the readOnly flag to true for everyone, the above code will set the readOnly flag *false* if the current username matches, and *true* for everyone else. enjoy, -e Eric Shulman TiddlyTools / ELS Design Studios WAS THIS ANSWER HELPFUL? [tw] Re: Opening Word file directly from local folder in TiddlyWiki?
Thanks, Skye! I appreciate your response and at least I know how to make it find the file. :) I was hoping to do something in Word and have it open it because the file needs to stay editable, so maybe I'm going to try another avenue. On Saturday, April 14, 2012 2:15:49 PM UTC-4, skye riquelme wrote: Hi Julie I am not an expert, but maybe I can shed some light on this. Firstly, your syntax is ok. But the file address is not. You can use relative file addresses like /SubPasta/file.html - which gets the file.html in the sub-folder SubPasta...ou maybe ../ BrotherPasta/file.html - which gets the file.html from a folder parellel to one containing your TW. OR you can use full adresses...something like file:///C:/Users/Name/Documents/TWFolder/ file.html (obviously I am using a windows file structure). SO the syntax becomes /folderName/file.html Secondly. in the above cases your browser (I use FF) will open file.html probably in a new window (depending on your browser settings) because it (the browser) knows about .html files and knows what to do with them. But does your browser know what to do with a .docx file??? You may be able to set your browser settings to recognise this file extension it depends on your browsers ability. For example, as a teacher I work a lot with presentations...but they are a pain in relation to TWas I have yet to figure out how to get FF to understand OpenOffice extensions. So my simple work-around is to export my completed presentations into PDF format. which all (?) browsers know how to read. So I can use Folder/ present.pdf which opens the PDF file in a separate window. Or, what I normally use is something like htmliframe src=Folder/ present.pdf width=100% height=500/iframe/html which opens the pdf file directly inside the tiddler.so I dont even have to leave the TW environment!!! Hope that is both useful and (at least basically) correct Yours Skye On 13 abr, 11:03, Julie radac...@gmail.com wrote: I've been playing with a code I found somewhere to open a Word file directly, which looks like this: file//Simulation1.docx where Simulation 1 before the | is the Tiddler text and the information after file is the document I want to open. [tw] Re: TiddlySpace First Time User Experience
Hi Chris everyone, I've been using TW for years now to collect and organization information for schooling my children. When they were younger, it was easy to pop in the thumb drive and get the info. However, it's getting old switching the drive between my computer and my son's. TiddlySpace seems like a good solution for us to collaborate. First impressions: Well, I'd like to actually have some. I used FF6 on an iMac then FF7 on the PC. No blockers enabled et. cetera. I can't create a site. I tried to create a space with a username/pwd. The page appears to be updating and then returns to the home page. I tried to login with the new info and just get returned to the home page again. I tried to create the site with my OpenID. I get authorized and the URL updates to show http://tiddlyspace.com/? openid=tau.myvidoop.comuser=GUEST#auth:OpenID=tau.myvidoop.com but displays the home page. I tried to login with the OpenID with the same result. Any ideas? Thanks, Julie -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group.
