Ever notice how some people just seem to know how to write a letter? This one surely does! This was written by a Canadian woman, but oh how it also applies to the U.S.A., U.K. and Australia . THIS ONE PACKS A FIRM PUNCH Written by a housewife in New Brunswick , to her local newspaper. This is one ticked off lady... Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not, started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since? Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from the capitol of the USA and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? Do you think I care about four U. S. Marines urinating on some dead Taliban insurgents? And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of a nation they are fighting against in a brutal Insurgency. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East, start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which, is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan . I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head, while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called insurgents in Afghanistan , come out and fight like men, instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in Mosques and behind women and children. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana, care about the innocent children within range of their suicide Bombs. I'll care when the Canadian media stops pretending that their freedom of Speech on stories, is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home, to hear about them when something happens. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a CANADIAN soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care. Shoot him again. When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed 'special' food, that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe, in your heart of hearts: I

Re: [TMIC] OT: The Bed Story
*Hey Akua, Glad to hear you finally got some assistance and was able to get your bed fixed. I've been trying to get a hospital bed with a trapeze for transferring, as my shoulders that have been my legs for moving for the last 20 years are worn out. It would be so much easier to grab the bar and swing into bed than to have to hooch and schooch my body until I get into position for the night. But since I can use my ARMS, I do not qualify from what I've been told! If I couldn't use my arms, why would I need a trapeze? It just gets crazier and crazier to try and get anything medically necessary these days with politics and the economy as it is, (unless you have private insurance, not Medicare) they keep taking more and more money from the programs we need to live to pay for the war in Iraq, the war on drugs, war on this and that, and to make sure THE GOVERNMENT gets their yearly cost of living increases. I get one each year, but they take it right back as my Medicare deductible goes up equal to or greater than the increase! But I try to look on the good side that I even have a bed, a roof over my head, food in the cupboards, a loving family, and a few good friends Peace, Bernie *

Thanks for chiming in, Bernie! Between your neurologist, a physiatrist, and an OT they should be able to help make your case for Medicare. I know it's not easy -- I've been working on getting a motorized wheelchair for a couple of years -- for the very reason you cite -- my shoulders are getting worn and they hurt from wheeling and transferring myself around. I named the specialists/experts who have had to write letters and fill out the forms to move my request along. Best to you and yours, Akua --

Re: [TMIC] OT
It's been frigid here for awhile in the Southern Finger Lakes. My wise catalpa-- the last to get leaves in the spring and the last to shed leaves was still green yesterday. Overnight, it dropped all but four of its grand, heart shaped leaves, which now pool around the trunk . The Acer Maple, also young and younger than the catalpa, dropped its bright yellow leaves last night too. For the past several weeks I've been in a flurry of designing, writing and making -- masks and patterns for them. I finished my third pattern yesterday which I'm calling the Song Bird Mask. The first is the Akua Bird Mask and the second, the Phoenix Bird Mask. I was saddened to find that I am again at the edge of viability in terms of technology. I had figured out several work-arounds to create a 728 by 90 pixel ad for the the first mask pattern. The sun still shone, at the beginning of the month when I was taking pictures, so I had some clear shots and I aimed to have the inexpensive ad run to a targeted audience for a mere $5. However the last step, translating from a pdf to a jpg, left the images slightly blurry. And no matter how high the initial resolution, after sizing them down to 90 and then going from word to pdf, pdf to jpg, the final translation blurred the pix. So this has been very depressing. When i can stay in the flow, I can ignore the constant pain, and the annoyance of not being able to move because my legs fly off the foot rests. More than once lately, I've twisted my foot or ankle, only realizing that it was to the side or behind when i couldn't roll any further. And the cold dark makes me tired, I'm up until 6,7,8 am then sleep until 2 or 3 which makes it hard to get much done because this is an area where social services close at 3. Help:my once a week aid forgot to get the cat treats. How could this be, when I give her a computer printed list, with tick boxes, item location and prices? I haven't bought the cat anything for months and it was his birthday last Tuesday and she for the 97 cent bag of treats for him. And she offered to go back and get it and I said there wasn't time. I only have her for two hours and I needed help, putting the recycling out, modeling a prototype, getting the last roll of paper towels off the high shelf where I tossed it. It would help to have help, but I can't afford it, and it would be great to get sales, but I barely have the tools -- and if I had more money, would I get help, or buy a new computer with an OS than can run some of the new free programs, or would I just buy more protein so I can fix my anemia? I use it and love it. If you have a really old computer though, it won't run very smoothly. I think it was worth every penny. Don't forget though that you have to take time to learn to use it, as there are verbal commands you have to memorize. RE: [TMIC] OT - Question
Hi Bernie, Before I left Agilent Technologies due to my TM condition, they were willing to provide me with Dragon Speak to assist me in my documentation job - my hands were adversely affected by TM to where I must now type with only two fingers. It was fairly new then, but I heard nothing but good about it. I've been considering getting it for my home computer, as I do extensive genealogy. I would like to find somewhere I could try it out - as you said. is it worth the investment? I do feel Agilent would not have offered it if it had no value. In my job, time was money and they were interested in my maintaining my 'quantity' as well as 'quality'. I have been following this very closely actually; it's a good distraction from my pending divorce. I expect things to come to a cross roads somewhere in the next 2 weeks. Gold is already at an all-time high whilst the value of the almighty dollar starts to fall. The US dollar, being gold-weighted, depends heavily on the demand and supply of gold...much of which they control through reserves held since they emerged as the only superpower left. If the gold price stays anywhere between $1550 and $1575 US, a lot of interesting things can happen. First things first, we'll probably see a new superpower emerge from the east, possibly one of the so-called poorer countries that has been pushed into production because of cheaper labour costs. Also, we might see the emergence of a new superpower, probably one whose currency isn't gold-weighted; copper isn't a bad choice here. All in all, it's going to get a bit tricky to really predict the economic climate right now because the decision made on Capitol Hill will ultimately affect the entire world and as such Economists are asked to forsee who shall survive. I agree Wim,something has to be done and as usual we the people not they the government will be hit hardest. I would hate iy of just one of those congressmen missed a 15,000 dollar payday for a month. gag. i would think that there are plenty of our troops that could be brought back home and reassigned a border job and a bunch of foolish spending that could be cut that would help tremendously, and it has been proved that there's enough tax money coming in that would cover the necessities but the gross spending is just not available so some of them like to threaten the retired and disabled for political posturing. always something. man Born of a woman is of a few days and full of trouble --- On Sat, 7/16/11, wim from holland wim_from_holl...@hotmail.com wrote: From: wim from holland wim_from_holl...@hotmail.com Subject: RE: [TMIC] OT - this is scary To: bpe...@austin.rr.com, grodg...@austin.rr.com, TMIC tmic-list@eskimo.com Date: Saturday, July 16, 2011, 8:44 AM We do follow this every day on the news. Re: [TMIC] OT - this is scary
As an economist, I have been following this business very closely. What impresses me most is that a bunch of kids, most of whom have never known economic suffering personally, are ideologically driven, and refuse to have their beliefs checked against reality on any level. They just believe things should go just this way and the winds of fate will bless their deeds if they just stay the course. They don't have a clue as to what will really happen to things they set in motion. And are in this respect, just like the Bush Administration's declaring war on Iraq, when not one of them had ever themselves been in a battlefield, most having avoided military service preferring instead to take advantage of the various deferments then available. That's OK; but such are not good candidates to determine when and how we should go to war. It even turned out that Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld was auto-signing the letters of condolences sent out to grieving parents and relatives for their loved ones killed in action. And now we have the same situation in the economic ideological wars. These persons are all rich and believe that if we just take all those New Deal programs down by starving them off, then everyone will be like themselves, able by their own wits to rise to the top. Well, everyone cannot rise to the top, or it isn't a top. Were all to rise to the level of each of these congressmen in capacity and economic and financial wits, then all would receive just a very average and far lower remuneration in return. This is the nature of the fallacy from which they all suffer, and by which they are about to ruin the country. These Young Turks are part of the side that ran up all these fantastic debts in an adventurous unnecessary war, against which Brent Scowcroft and other wiser heads, including Bush's own father, strongly advised. Meanwhile, he who had actually attacked our country was allowed to escape. When is someone going to publicly call them out on this? When will someone stand up and say to their faces that these are their own debts, debts they agreed to incur, that it was they who cut taxes on the rich during a time of waran unprecedented move!--which blew up the debt, then and there, and continued to cut taxes on the richest Americans, even when some of the wealthiest publicly said they didn't need these tax cuts, that they played no part in their investment decisions. Shared sacrifice indeed! The extremes of wealth and poverty which exist today are now approaching those which existed exactly 100 years ago. What does a country do for those citizens who are not the smartest and brightest? What about those who can't work that hard, who are ill, old, young, sick, disabled or just too weak to carry it on? What about those who are not combat-ready to join in the battles of the modern information economy? What happens to them? That's my two cents.

I couldn't figure out how to do it -- put money in a trust (need a lawyer) and then do Medicaid buy-in but perhaps that's a possibility for you. wellit happened. my short term disability ran out Monday. then it happened again,my first disabled social security check was automatically deposited into my bank account today. I am not eligible for Medicare for 2 years so I have no insurance for my wife or myself but things have a way of working out. I will just have to keep my chin up and my faith intact. How does this translate into you can not ask the city tax payers to help you ?!!! That my concern about our lack of rigor in recycling and that we CHARGE for it ( other places collect multiple times a week whereas we do it just twice a month and have to pay for it) is met with such hostility, is untoward. You have indicated that you disagree. Fine. But disagreement does not beget insult. That is a trespass. I have always found our system of recycling wanting. Re: [TMIC] OT: the Garbage Story
I live in a small town. The garbage collection is all we have! We don't have recycling either. We have one pick-up per week, and if we do separate our recycling, it gets all thrown in together anyway. Even if we buy the blue bags at the store, they go in the same truck, which no doubt get broken in the truck. What they do is separate once they dump, which they say is very efficient. I can't see how it is, but they say it is. It's all there is, so that's it. For those who can and want to, you can take to a recycling spot! Now, the town that I used to live in had it's own municipal garbage company and did it this way which was great. They gave us different colored bins and we sorted our items. They had a separate truck and it had compartments. The money collected from the recycling was used to offset our garbage bills, which were lower than other towns in our area, and it wasn't in our taxes either. It was great, but you get what you get where you live. Sometimes you can't fight city hall. Baclofen helps for spasm, when I first started and I heard more of the group talking about it, you can have trouble with short memory, but that slowly improves. Nothing of that you can find back in the discription closed in. What also a caused spasm is a full bowl, notice after relieving that it is better. Full bladder makes it also worse. Keep the legs warm (blacket) if you sit stil all the time and afford draft. Nice in spring to let the wind through your house, but for people who does not move a lot, the muscles get cold and spasm will follow then, specially when the warm up again. well things have been quite normal . have a moment of peace only to have a days worth of grief. It just gets tiring this whole thing. then i watch the grandchildren or the able old children and hear the grief of each and the laughter of each and just keep trudging along. it is strange, the mind, why you have a good day,do some things and the next day it hits you like it never has before. probably just the same, only shock from going from minimal pain and awkwardness to incapable of thinking straight. other than that it was a pretty good month. --- On Tue, 3/29/11, Janice Nichols jan...@centurytel.net wrote: From: Janice Nichols jan...@centurytel.net Subject: Re: [TMIC] OT ? Re: [TMIC] OT ?
Tracy, I take gabapentin for nerve pain and baclofen for spasms in the legs. The spasms are worse at nite and it does make your leg/legs feel hot. The baclofen will definitely help her a lot. What medications is she taking? My doctor did not have me on baclofen until I described what I was feeling and not able to sleep. Baclofen is a blessing. Sometimes it takes a while to come up with the right amount to control the spasms. Emily and Tracy – on the baclofen, I am now taking 2 or 3 pills (10 mg each) around 8:30pm. I used to take more. I don’t take them during the day. Tracy – is your mom able to walk unassisted? If not, what does she use? Would she get on the website and talk to us herself? And, do you go with her to her doctor’s appointments? That would help you and you could ask questions that your mom may have problems with. I would love to be at your house helping both of you – we all know so well what you are going through. Re: [TMIC] OT - mind of 6 year old
Yes... Out Of The Mouths Of Babes? Two little boys in first grade were chosen to be the leads in their first school play. It was to be a Shakespearean play. The first little boy was to say, My fair maiden... I have come to snatch a kiss and fill your soul with hope. The second little boy was to reply by saying, Hark! A pistol shot! On opening night in the school auditorium, the two little boys were a bit nervous, knowing all the seats were going to be filled with grown-ups. The teacher told them to take their places on the stage and to remember to speak very loud as soon as the curtain goes up. The curtain rose and looking out upon the audience the two boys were terrified! They stood there frozen, so the teacher whispered for them to begin. The first boy yelled out these unforgettable words. My fair maiden... I have come to kiss your snatch... and fill your hole with soap. The second boy screams out... Hark! A shistol pot, a postle shiss, a pot of shit, horse shit, cow shit, bull shit... I never wanted to be in this lousy play anyway! The audience left howling. In a message dated 3/24/2011 6:42:03 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, bpe...@austin.rr.com writes: The mind of a six year old. They think so logically! A 1st grade teacher was reading the story of the Three Little Pigs to her class. She came to the part of the story where first pig was trying to gather the building materials for his home. She read. 'And so the pig went up to the man with the wheelbarrow full of straw and said: 'Pardon me sir, but may I have some of that straw to build my house?' The teacher paused then asked the class: 'And what do you think the man said?' One little boy raised his hand and said very matter-of-factly... 'I think the man would have said - 'I'll be a son of a bitch!! A talking pig!' The teacher had to leave the room.

Hi Akua and Bernie, I have that book but it is packed away because Dave is going to paint my bedroom. It may take a while because I am not even gotten my bed put out in the living room yet, But, when I get my box of books back, I have many boxes; I will send it to you. You can also call a bookstore and explain what the book is about and if they are knowageable, they will know what you are speaking about. I have done that in the past and it has worked out beautifly.
