Re: solaris package (pkg) support

Looking through the docs as well as finding this subversion repository ... https://svn.codehaus.org/mojo/trunk/sandbox/solaris-maven-plugin/ ... it seems that not much is yet supported. Here is some good documentation: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-0406 It would be great if all the special packaging files could be supported, including at least these: checkinstall depend pkginfo (appears to be already supported) postinstall postremove preinstall preremove prototype (not sure how exactly this is currently implemented) request Also, I think it is vital to be able to customize owners (for instance, default file owners to root:bin or some other id) without having to assume those privileges during the build. Normally (outside of maven) I run a shell script that utilizes fakeroot to customize the staging directory with the required user:group ownership followed by running pkgproto (still under the same fakeroot instance) to generate the correct prototype. But perhaps I'm missing how the above things would be achieved while using this plugin. I would be grateful for any help. This won't help you much (because I don't already found a solution / workaround) but I have a problem which can be linked to yours. I use an archiva server. When I package my projects with a PC on Windows XP (mine or one of my dev team), everything works OK but when my leader try with it's laptop on Windows Vista, maven is not able to download artifact. I also have the same problem with a PC on Windows Server 2003 R2. The log of archiva says that the server has received the request but can't perform it ... Quite strange... How to pass different options to javac during compile and testCompile goals?
(I have not yet subscribed to users alias, so please copy a reply directly to me) Hi, I want to pass different options to maven-compiler-plugin during compile and testCompile goals. Let's say, I want to set source level as 1.4 for all my src/main/java code and set source level as 1.5 for my test sources. How do I do it? Proximity into corporate use
I would like to put Proximity into corporate use. While anyone can download artifacts from Proximity, only a few people can do deploy. I would like to setup the AffirmativeAccessManager to use ComplexPropertiesFileUsernameBasedAccessDecisionVoter. However, I get return code 500, when I do “deploy:deploy-file! I added some debug codes and found the “request.username” from the Voter was “null”. I did add a “server” entry with username and password in setting.xml and specify it in –DrepositoryId when I did “deploy:deploy-file”, like: mvn deploy:deploy-file -DrepositoryId= -Durl=http:// …. (Eclipse uses javaw.exe) != (Maven uses java.exe). It is very possible that javaw.exe would be allowed while java.exe is blocked by your firewall etc software. I'm still not convinced you are able to download artifacts from Central. If you can dig into ~/.m2 and find some files named *.jar, then I might change my mind. A few people have posted here very frustrated by things only to discover that McAfee or something similar was the root of their troubles. Disable *all* such software and try again. Also, try running with -U to force an update of artifacts from repos. The final step is to rename the ~/.m2 directory to ~/.m2x (or simply delete ~/.m2) and try again from scratch. antLib not producing same classpath as Mvn
I've found what looks like a bug in the Maven Antlib, but I thought I should check here first before sending the issue to JIRA as I am a relatively new Maven user. I've created a pom that transitively has two paths to the artifact commons-logging. Due to the structure of the poms this resulted in 1.0 being selected instead of what I needed, 1.0.4. In an attempt to resolve this I added the following to my SuperPom from which all others inherit: commons-logging commons-logging 1.0.4 Now, when I run mvn dependency:resolve on my child pom it changes the resolved dependency from 1.0 to 1.0.4 as I desired. Hurrah! Unfortunately when I reference the classpath produced by this pom in my ant script it still shows the 1.0 version on the classpath. It seems that the maven antLib is not taking the parent's dependency management section into account. I've heard that the maven antlib does not always function as maven should. Is this true? Re: inhouse repository and dependencies
Most people solve these problems by implementing a Maven proxy like Archiva, Artifactory, Proximity, etc. And no, you cannot sync your local repository cache to create a remote repository. There are some differences in the repos. Google for it or search the list archives -- we've talked about this before. inhouse repository and dependencies
I've been working on setting up an inhouse repository for our company. I have it setup and and I can deploy my project to it but I want to add my project dependencies. From what I've read on this list and else where there is no simple way to do that. What I'd really like to see in maven is something like >mvn deploy:deploy-dependencies and have all transitive dependencies upload. RE: Classloading Issues
Just to add, the weblogic dependencies scope is "system". -Original Message- From: Paul Hepworth [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 20 November 2007 18:42 To: users@maven.apache.org Subject: Classloading Issues Hi On my project, we are using Weblogic 8.1 and XmlBeans 2.3 and associated dependencies. The problem we have is that there are duplicate implementations (of different versions) of things such as QName, and so when running our tests, depending on which one is loaded first, it either works or we get errors. The problem has come about since I updated our version of the surefire plugin to 2.3 in order to fix a couple of bugs that were present in earlier versions (we were using 2.1.2). With version 2.1.2, our tests would pass, as the Weblogic implementations were being ignored in preference of the XmlBeans/Stax implementations. However, with the newer version of surefire, this appears to be the other way round and so the tests fail with NoSuchMethodExceptions for QName constructor etc... I've verified that this is the problem on a sample project by explicitly excluding the weblogic dependency (it was coming through transitively from another project), and the test runs fine. However, I won't be able to do this for all of our projects and so need to find a solution... Is there any way of specifying to exclude a dependency just for running the tests? Or a way of changing the classpath so that I can get the required version loaded?? Any ideas greatly appreciated! Paul This message should be regarded as confidential. war overlays and compiler classpath
I've configured an app-war to depend on overlay-war, and app-war lists overlay-war as an overlay in the maven-war-plugin configuration. On top of that, the classes in app-war depend on the classes in overlay-war for compilation, but being a type 'war', they don't seem to end up in the classpath when app-war compiles. I've tried adding the target/classes directory of overlay-war to app-war's block for maven-compiler-plugin, but this did not do the trick. I'd like the class files from overlay-war to be copied into app-war _and_ be compile-time dependency. Is this possible (without breaking overlay-war's java source as a separate type 'jar' pom)? Without knowing anything about it in any detail (I don't run Vista), I would guess you might need to disable a firewall or grant Internet-connect privileges to your JDK executables. RE: Ant Mojo Resources
Simple question in regard to this really old solution: How do I get the plugin version number into the ant plugin's build.xml so I don't have to remember to modify the build.xml every time I release? Can you use filtering on the ant file at plugin build time? I would think that would be tricky because of all the real ant properties. Is the ${project.version} available inside the ant xml -- the ${project.version} of the plugin that is. -Ben Ian Springer wrote: > > Pass ${settings.localRepository} as a param to your Ant mojo. I'm completely lost. I think I'm going to restart step by step. First a Maven2 Webapp using WTP and Tapestry... and then I'll study the Axis2 plugins to integrate in my project. But, just to understand a little bit more. What you propose to me is to put my webservice sources outside the main project as independant AAR project and add depencies in the pom.xml of my main project? 2007/11/20, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > Thanks a lot... Why don't you add directly your services descriptors in : src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/services/ The default directory for your webapp data are in : src/main/webapp It's used when you use a war packaging (war in your pom) You don't have to define where to copy classes, ressources and others Maven will do it for you target/${yourAppName}<-src/main/webapp target/${yourAppName}/WEB-INF/classes<-src/main/java (after compilation) target/${yourAppName}/WEB-INF/classes<-src/main/resources target/${yourAppName}/WEB-INF/lib<-libs defined in your pom It's not directory that you have to use but outputDirectory http://maven.apache.org/ref/current/maven-model/maven.html#class_build Arnaud > > > 2007/11/20, Arnaud HERITIER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > > > On Nov 20, 2007 3:19 PM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > > > > > > > 2- I have to define a build element in the pom.xml to define my src... > > > (got > > > 4 folder because of web services) > > > > Be careful, conventions in maven are to have only one src folder by > > langage > > (src/main/java) and one artifact (a jar, a war, ..) per project. > > > > > > > > 3- Each time my classpath should evolve I have to restart the .bat in > my > > > project folder. > > > > > > Yes you update your eclipse settings using maven (never using eclipse > > itself) > > > > > > > > Then : > > > 4- When I deploy for test in WTP, Eclipse take care of Maven and > > received > > > also the lib declared in the pom.xml > > > > yes > > > > > > > > 5- When I would like to deploy on prod I will use maven to create a > war > > > will > > > include all the lib in the right places. > > > > yes : mvn package > > > > > > > > > > > Am I right? > > > > > > yes > > > > Arnaud > > > > > > > > > > > 2007/11/20, Arnaud HERITIER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > > > > > > > You have to launch it in your project directory. > > > > > > > > Arnaud > > > > > > > > On Nov 20, 2007 3:01 PM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > > wrote: > > > > > > > > > So I did it : > > > > > R:\java\tools\maven-2.0.7\bin>mvn eclipse:eclipse -Dwtpversion=1.5- > > > > > Declipse.workspace="R:\Michael\PersonalWS" > > > > > > > > > > [INFO] Scanning for projects... > > > > > [INFO] Searching repository for plugin with prefix: 'eclipse'. > > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > - > > > > > --- > > > > > [INFO] Building Maven Default Project > > > > > [INFO]task-segment: [eclipse:eclipse] > > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > - > > > > > --- > > > > > [INFO] Preparing eclipse:eclipse > > > > > [INFO] No goals needed for project - skipping > > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [ERROR] BUILD ERROR > > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [INFO] Cannot execute mojo: eclipse. Re: [M2]Eclipse WTP, dependency, deployement, libraries

But Axis2 convention is to have web services implementation "outside" to be deployed in WEB-INF/services instead of WEB-INF/classes as the other... "When conventions meet the other conventions" Anyway, thanks a lot it is more clear than before. So I updated my pom.xml : ${artifactId}-${version} ${basedir}/webapp/WEB-INF/classes ${basedir}/webapp/WEB-INF/services/ApplicationWebService false ${basedir}/src/ApplicationWebService ${basedir}/webapp/WEB-INF/services/UserWebService false ${basedir}/src/UserWebService ${basedir}/webapp/WEB-INF/classes false ${basedir}/src/main ${basedir}/webapp/WEB-INF/classes false ${basedir}/src/resources ... And then I rerun the batch, but I still have a target directory created and maven change the directory for all the 4 resources I defined. Anyway, I can leave with that target folder since Eclipse WTP will copied it itself in the WEB-INF/classes but I don't understand why my information are not take into account in the mvn process. 2007/11/20, Arnaud HERITIER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > On Nov 20, 2007 3:19 PM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > > 2- I have to define a build element in the pom.xml to define my src... > > (got > > 4 folder because of web services) > > Be careful, conventions in maven are to have only one src folder by > langage > (src/main/java) and one artifact (a jar, a war, ..) per project. > > > > > 3- Each time my classpath should evolve I have to restart the .bat in my > > project folder. > > > Yes you update your eclipse settings using maven (never using eclipse > itself) > > > > > Then : > > 4- When I deploy for test in WTP, Eclipse take care of Maven and > received > > also the lib declared in the pom.xml > > yes > > > > > 5- When I would like to deploy on prod I will use maven to create a war > > will > > include all the lib in the right places. > > yes : mvn package > > > > > > > Am I right? > > > yes > > Arnaud > > > > > > > 2007/11/20, Arnaud HERITIER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > > > > > You have to launch it in your project directory. > > > > > > Arnaud > > > > > > On Nov 20, 2007 3:01 PM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > wrote: > > > > > > > So I did it : > > > > R:\java\tools\maven-2.0.7\bin>mvn eclipse:eclipse -Dwtpversion=1.5 - > > > > Declipse.workspace="R:\Michael\PersonalWS" > > > > > > > > [INFO] Scanning for projects... > > > > [INFO] Searching repository for plugin with prefix: 'eclipse'. > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > - > > > > --- > > > > [INFO] Building Maven Default Project > > > > [INFO]task-segment: [eclipse:eclipse] > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > - > > > > --- > > > > [INFO] Preparing eclipse:eclipse > > > > [INFO] No goals needed for project - skipping > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > [ERROR] BUILD ERROR > > > > [INFO] > > > > > > > > > > [INFO] Cannot execute mojo: eclipse. Artifact problem on vista
Hi guys, I've recently installed Maven 2.0.7 together with jdk 1.6 on Windows Vista and I'm having quite a few problems. It seems maven is unable to download most of the artifacts I need, for example the following command doesn't work: C:\Users\toby\workspace>mvn -e archetype:create -DgroupId=com.mycompany.app -DartifactId=my-webapp -DarchetypeArtifactId=maven-archetype-webapp I get the following error: [INFO] Scanning for projects... Re: [M2]Eclipse WTP, dependency, deployement, libraries
Ok I did what you explain and something happended :D It replace all my source by ... nothing and create a target/classes folder in the root project. It deleted all the lib I had in WEB-INF/lib and put only the 4 I had defined for test purpose in my pom.xml using the scope system and added them as "jar to import in the project" and not "webapp libraries". So, if I undestand well : 1- I must have all my libraries declared in the pom.xml 2- I have to define a build element in the pom.xml to define my src... (got 4 folder because of web services) 3- Each time my classpath should evolve I have to restart the .bat in my project folder. Then : 4- When I deploy for test in WTP, Eclipse take care of Maven and received also the lib declared in the pom.xml 5- When I would like to deploy on prod I will use maven to create a war will include all the lib in the right places. Am I right? 2007/11/20, Arnaud HERITIER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > You have to launch it in your project directory. > > Arnaud > > On Nov 20, 2007 3:01 PM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > So I did it : > > R:\java\tools\maven-2.0.7\bin>mvn eclipse:eclipse -Dwtpversion=1.5 - > > Declipse.workspace="R:\Michael\PersonalWS" > > > > [INFO] Scanning for projects... > > [INFO] Searching repository for plugin with prefix: 'eclipse'. > > [INFO] > > > - > > --- > > [INFO] Building Maven Default Project > > [INFO]task-segment: [eclipse:eclipse] > > [INFO] > > > - > > --- > > [INFO] Preparing eclipse:eclipse > > [INFO] No goals needed for project - skipping > > [INFO] > > > > [ERROR] BUILD ERROR > > [INFO] > > > > [INFO] Cannot execute mojo: eclipse. Re: [M2]Eclipse WTP, dependency, deployement, libraries
ok, sorry, I didn't see that you were new to M2. You have actually several choices to work with maven 2 and eclipse. The first one is to use a plugin in eclipse to launch maven 2 to build your application. There are 2 plugins actually for eclipse : - http://code.google.com/p/q4e/ which we hope will be integrated in eclipse in some monthes. When i tested it this plugin worked only with maven 2.1.x. It should be transparent in most cases if you are using 2.0.x, but it's not sure - http://m2eclipse.codehaus.org/ Those plugins will give you some additional features in eclipse: For example they'll help you to write your pom, add dependencies... The problem with those plugins, is that they aren't supporting WTP if you are developing a web application :-( The other choice, is to use the plugin in maven to setup your project for eclipse http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-eclipse-plugin/ This plugin is used from maven in command line. It setup your eclipse settings (build path, WTP support, ...). You will have to regenerate your eclipse settings each time that you change your pom (adding/removing a dependency for example). After that you can import your project in eclipse and you'll use the standard build of eclipse (Ctrl + B) to build your application. You'll also be able to deploy your webapp on an application server using WTP Hope, this helps Arnaud On Nov 20, 2007 2:51 PM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hum, I don't know how to do that. > Ok I can create a bat file to launch the command but is it to do only > once? > > 2007/11/20, Arnaud HERITIER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > > > Did you activate the WTP support in the eclipse plugin for maven 2 ? > > mvn eclipse:eclipse -Dwtpversion=1.5 > > > > It's working fine generally > > > > TEll us if you have any problem, we'll try to solve them > > > > Arnaud > > > > On Nov 20, 2007 9:49 AM, Michael Bernagou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > I'm new to M2 and I use Eclipse 3.2 WTP, Maven 2.0.7 and the latest > > maven > > > plugin for eclipse. Re: Plans for releasing maven-eclipse-plugin-2.5?
I'm working on it, but as you said it's difficult to plan a release, due to personal/professionals constraints. I would like to apply all patchs (or to reject them) actually in Jira to be able in a future release to refactor the code of this plugin. If I don't have too many problems this week we could hope to have a release in one or two weeks. Re: Maven, junit and Mock Classes
Guten Tag Jan Torben Heuer, Hi Jan, > So where can I put both Mock Objects? > Obviously not in the dao, because testclasses are not dependencies. > So I would end up with a project for each or all MockObjects. You may specify the test-classes as a dependency using the test-jar mojo of the jar plugin: http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-jar-plugin/test-jar-mojo.html Using this, you'll have jars containing the test-classes which will be available using the "tests" classifier Using that technique, it is possible to place your mock-objects inside project-dao (or project-core, if the class-level dependencies allow you to do so). hope that helps. Maven, junit and Mock Classes
I have have (again) a design question, where to place "Mock" Classes for junit. Example: project-core (depends project-dao) public TestSomeCoreFunctions { DAO dao = new MockDAO(); ... } project-dao public interface dao { public AccessObject1 do(); } public interface AccessObject1 { } project-another module (depends project-core) public TestSomeThing { DAO dao = new MockDAO(); AccessObject1 ao = new MockAccessObject(); ... } So where can I put both Mock Objects? Obviously not in the dao, because testclasses are not dependencies. So I would end up with a project for each or all MockObjects. project-dao-mock (depends project-dao) public class MockAccessObject implements AccessObject1.. This means in turn, that I COULD NOT use the mock objects in the project-dao (circular dependencies), but I NEED them for my junit tests... So what? I'm confused ;-) Jan - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Plans for releasing maven-eclipse-plugin-2.5?
Hello all, I saw that the issues concerning WTP 2.0 support were closed as Fixed for the maven-eclipse-plugin in version 2.5. That version hasn't been released yet, which made me wonder when a new release of the plug-in might be expected. I know that very often open-source-projects can't/won't give any estimates about release dates, since it frequently depends on volunteers to do the job. So I tried to find out what still needed to be done for the 2.5-release, but in the issue tracker (http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MECLIPSE) I couldn't find any versioning planning/actual roadmap information. I would appreciate seeing some planning there and knowing whichs issues are 'blocking' a release might trigger some developers (including me) to devote some time on solving those issues. I'll try to use the 2.5-SNAPSHOT to get the WTP-2.0 until the actual release will become available. Re: [M2]Eclipse WTP, dependency, deployement, libraries
So, the problem seems to be in the WTP part which do not take care about M2 (the plugin neither). It's the first time I used M2 and this repository system was a good idea, but if to use it I need another development tool, it's very bad. Thanks for answering, but I don't want to change again the way I develop especially if I don't have a very good reason to use M2 such as sharing libraries between projects. [M2] repositories (central, codehaus, java.net)
Hi, i currently reorganize my repositories within my artifactory installation (artifact cache). and i wonder which of these repositories is correct: * central o http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/packages/maven2/ o http://www.ibiblio.org/maven2 o http://repo1.maven.org/maven2 (mirror of ibiblio) o http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/maven2 * codehaus o release + http://dist.codehaus.org + http://repository.codehaus.org o snapshot + http://snapshots.repository.codehaus.org * java.net o maven1 (still some artifacts are found in the old legacy repo) + https://maven-repository.dev.java.net/repository/ x http mirror: http://download.java.net/maven/1 o maven2 + http://download.java.net/maven/2 it would be nice if someone could tell me which of these repositories are kept up-to-date and which of them are old URLs/domains. (or mirrors of others). do i miss some (important) repositories (not listed above)? thx 4 help R.C. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/-M2--repositories-%28central%2C-codehaus%2C-java.net%29-tf4842621s177.html#a13854510 Sent from the Maven - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[M2] maven-dependency-plugin vs. dependency-maven-plugin
hi, does anyone know which of these plugins is still maintained? RE: [M2]Eclipse WTP, dependency, deployement, libraries
Michael, For running (and debugging) my eclipse projects in tomcat I am using the Sysdeo tomcat plugin. (http://www.eclipsetotale.com/tomcatPlugin.html) It offers the ability to start and stop tomcat from Eclipse and more importantly contains a additional DevLoader, which you can add to your tomcat-configuration, which ensure that the libraries referenced in your project configuration are loaded in the webContext within tomcat. If your project refers to the libs in your M2-repo, then those libs will be loaded. It is really using WTP, but it works like a charm for me. (Note: You do have to select which libs you want to include in the classpath of the webContext, so you can ignore those dependancies on the classpath for the scope provided or or test) With kind regards, Marco Beelen -Original Message- From: Michael Bernagou [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, November 20, 2007 9:49 AM To: users@maven.apache.org Subject: [M2]Eclipse WTP, dependency, deployement, libraries Hi, I'm new to M2 and I use Eclipse 3.2 WTP, Maven 2.0.7 and the latest maven plugin for eclipse. Hi, Thanks for trying to help but the problem is with the multi-module project. If I run mvn package from the module directory it works correctly.
