Re: Sharing Voice Memeos to Facebook or Twitter

2013-10-15 Thread Sharonda Greenlaw
I decided after much ado to just wait until I got home and publish the link to
it from Dropbox. I should be able to share from my phone. I'm sad that this is
not possible.

Re: cases for 5s which offer excellent protection

2013-10-15 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
I concur the outer silicone covering is much improved in the otterbox defender
for the 5s and the accommodation for the fingerprint reader doesn’t seem to
have caused any degradation in the built in screen protector in my opinion.
I think this time out they did a great job in its design.

I admit they did drop the ball with the 4, the rubber bumper surrounding the
case got flimsy to quick and warn fast. But they really improved it with the
5, and even better with the 5s. Especially with access to the finger print
reader, it is sit away from the hole so it doesn't get pushed easily. And the
bumper casing is much much tougher. Also, the head phone jack cover is in line
with the actual plug, so there is no adjusting for it. I heard the life proof
case doesn't allow access to the finger print reader. Haven't seen one, so
can't confirm this. But I also don't want to pay 80 bucks for a case, JMO that
is a bit high for my liking.

iPhone 5 version of the Defender Otterbox cases either. I wasn't impressed with
their iPhone 4 version and so went away from Otterbox. I loved the 3G/3GS
versions, but feel they dropped the ball with the 4. In any case, this case
from Ballistic is working out nicely. I don't have access to the finger print
reader of the home button but that hasn't been an issue yet for me. Knowing me
and the way I am, I'll most likely be getting another case to try out. This is
what I do after all, and so will be happy to try out something which protects
the phone as well and still offers access to the finger print scanner.

of the vendors who sold rugged and durable electronic equipment to the

cases for the consumer market. Their products were going to be
introduced this summer. My case is better than the Otterbox because
it sandwiches the iPhone tightly between two very hard pieces of
plastic, exposing the screen with a screen protector. This encases
the iPhone completely and visually the device likely won’t be
recognized as an iPhone. This sort of defeats the purpose of a golden
iPhone though. I understand it is elegant and sparkling. On the
other hand a toddler could pick up my iPhone in a Hard core case and
give it a forceful toss without damaging it. It is a little bulky,
but I have the protection of something virtually indestructible.
Otterbox cases clamp the iPhone into place, which can wiggle and
scratch the glass of the screen. Also the sides of the iPhone are
much more exposed than on the Ballistic iPhone case, which encases the
iPhone completely between a form fitting upper and bottom layer.
Consider the hard core case but also the new cases from the rugged
device companies.

Strange Dong noise in maps tracking with headings iOS 7

2013-10-15 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,
I am currently discussing with apple accessibility an issue I reported and they
cannot clearly verify it or don't seem to get my description. SO, I am curious
if any of you has seen this and approached them with this.

When I turn on tracking with headings my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.02 gives off a
series of dongs kind of like when you try to flick past the last element on the
screen. FOr me they repeat at constant intervals when stationary and I think
also when I am walking but can't bet on this. Time is about 4 sec. This is
regardless wether I am navigating a route or not.

They appear to think that, if phone is stationary, this sound repeats more and
more oftenn and suppose it is to remind you that you are using GPS and draining
your battery. THis does not make sense to me and I personally think this dong
constantly sounding off is either a bug with the way my phone works or in iOS
7.\My husband's phone is giving off sae regular repeating sounds when
stationary. Haven't tried moving around with it. Will do so soon.

Any thoughts,
Ioana

Hello folks, I have had list recorder for some time now. I along with many
others, have upgraded to ios 7. Now I am unable to delete a list which is
either full or empty from the home screen. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I seem to be able to get to the point where I can select the list I want to
get rid of, but then the screen seems to freeze. Thanks in advance.

Re: cases for 5s which offer excellent protection

2013-10-15 Thread Kliphton -------
I admit they did drop the ball with the 4, the rubber bumper surrounding the
case got flimsy to quick and warn fast.

I think the 5s may pull more power since it has a faster processor. I would go
for the plus version, it's the most powerful case they make. In my opinion,
these are the best iphone cases you can get. They extend the battery life and
you can use a micro USB cable to charge both batteries instead of Apple's
proprietary nonsense.

There are those books that have the announcement this book was originally

Hello list,

So a YouTube update was made available today. It looks like a lot of that
extra unlabled button chatter was cleaned up along with a better layout when
playing a video. A nice improvement from the last update for sure.

List recorder not deleting lists.

Hello folks, I have had list recorder for some time now. I along with many
others, have upgraded to ios 7. Now I am unable to delete a list which is
either full or empty from the home screen. Any suggestions would be helpful. I
seem to be able to get to the point where I can select the list I want to get
rid of, but then the screen seems to freeze. Thanks in advance.

Just out of curiousity I tried using the level with my wife's 5 and my
5s which was received the Tuesday after they went on sale. Their is a
difference of about 3 degrees between the two phones with hers showing
0 and mine -3 which is about a/4 inch off the table. I tried it on a
couple of different surfaces in case one wasn't flat and got the same
results. I did not try the compass part because I don't think the
difference is as important. Although I hope
Apple some how fixes this I don't think it will have too much effect
since I don't use the phone for woodworking.

RE: Interesting bug in Bard App

I also have encountered this twice. I was able to read through the spot as
follows:

The book read the end of track message and then jumped back a chapter. I
navigated forward till I came to the chapter after the one I had been
reading and used rewind. I rewound to before the end of track announcement
and, this time, in both cases, the book did not skip backward.

Greetings:

The bug I am about to describe only occurs when reading a Bard book that was
converted from cassette to digital format. Here's what happens. You are
reading along, and you suddenly hear a phrase such as "end of side x" where
X is any side number. Suddenly, the book jumps back by at least one
navigation unit. How far the book jumps back depends upon the mark up
present in the book. In some books, this can be a chapter, while in others
whose mark up is not as thorough, you can jump to the beginning of a part or
story you are reading.

I realize that nothing can be done about this until the Government opens
again, I wonder, however, if anyone else has encountered this one.

Oops, sorry about that. I just meant that as an example. I don't have
Facebook in my list either. I meant Four Square, which I actually have
on. I have apps like Stocks and Wordpress set to off.

Grant specifically stated that it was possible to control the
individual app's ability to refresh itself instead of using the global
refresh control found in the general settings.

My apologies for being so vague, I was under the impression that no
one else cared about my question since only Grant responded to it.

Again, I do apologize for the misunderstanding.

Hello all,
Today, I made a ghastly discovery (it was sad for me *smile). Under
IOS 7, the Voice Memeos app no longer allows you to share directly to
Facebook or Twitter any longer.

Does anyone have any awesome suggestions on how this can be done?
Thank you for posting them.

Hello,
I have a mophi case for my i phone 5.
I have the air and it charges up to 100 percent everytime.
If you are only getting 51 percent, then I suggest you let Mophi
know.
Depending on what you use your phone for, you should get anywhere
from 85 to 100 percent.

Sharing Voice Memeos to Facebook or Twitter

2013-10-15 Thread Sharonda Greenlaw
Hello all,
Today, I made a ghastly discovery (it was sad for me *smile). Under
IOS 7, the Voice Memeos app no longer allows you to share directly to
Facebook or Twitter any longer.

Does anyone have any awesome suggestions on how this can be done?
Thank you for posting them.

Hi Rich,

Yes, I had the same thing happen with a book converted from cassette. It
will definitely be worth reporting when the shutdown is over.

Mofi case with iPhone 5S?

2013-10-15 Thread shaf
I'm using the air, and I'm only getting a 50 percent charge from it. I
have tried 2 cases with the same result. Is it just my bad luck or is
this the case with all mofi cases that were designed for the 5 using
the 5S?

Re: cases for 5s which offer excellent protection

2013-10-15 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, I'd like to say that I purchased a black case of this type for my
silver iPhone 5s and do like it very much. The built-in screen protector
seems to be better than those offered by Otter box, although admittedly
I haven't seen the iPhone 5 version of the Defender Otterbox cases
either. I wasn't impressed with their iPhone 4 version and so went away
from Otterbox. I loved the 3G/3GS versions, but feel they dropped the
ball with the 4. In any case, this case from Ballistic is working out
nicely. I don't have access to the finger print reader of the home
button but that hasn't been an issue yet for me. Knowing me and the way
I am, I'll most likely be getting another case to try out. This is what
I do after all, and so will be happy to try out something which protects
the phone as well and still offers access to the finger print scanner.

Cheers.

was shortly after the consumer electronics show. At that time, many
of the vendors who sold rugged and durable electronic equipment to the
military and construction industry were just beginning to offer iPhone
cases for the consumer market.
Consider the hard core case but also the new cases from the rugged
device companies.

wallet or other slide-in case that I can clip to what I'm wearing. It also
fits in most phone pockets in purses. I have the commuter to fall back on

This set-up works well for me, but I am very careful with my phone. It
doesn't get dropped.

I am curious on what cases are out there that offer excellent protection
for
the phone. everyone seems to be promoting the otter box, however, that is
what I currently have for my 4s and it has not lived up to expectations. I
like the Otter box concept and would like to know are there any other cases
out there, which are similar. I want the phone completely encased and to
include a built in screen protector. Also, I don't want the case to be any
bulkier then the Otter box. Slimmer is better.

My husband is thinking of just getting one of the leather cases from apple
for his phone but I don't think that will be sufficient protection for my
liking. Thoughts, opinions and ideas would be appreciated.

Strange... do you live in a city or at countryside? Heve you checked some

OSM coverage is quite good nowadays so i doubpt missing coverage might be

Re: [IDevices] {Disarmed} FW: If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here's How to Speed It Up

2013-10-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
When I go into Settings -> General -> Backup App Refresh, I see a button
at the top that says "Background app refresh". In my case, I have this
turned on. Down below, I see a list of specific apps, and I can toggle
this feature on or off for each app. For example, I have Facebook off
but I have Google Maps on. This way you can incrementally improve
performance and battery life by specifying those apps that you want to
be refreshed in the background and those you don't, instead of the more
draconian measure of just turning off background app refreshing altogether.

OK, I think I pointed to where that could be done, e.g. Settings ->
General -> Background App Refreshing. I am not sure I recall your
original question, but if Grant answered it then there wouldn't be any
reason for me or anyone else to weigh in and add to list traffic
unnecessarily. that doesn't mean that others don't care though or
couldn't answer follow up questions.

Again, I do apologize for the misunderstanding.

Hi,
I have actually tried to contact the developer but have yet to get answers on
why blindsquare doesn't tell intersections or even street names. It tells me
POis and adresses ok, but streets and intersections, no way jose.

Re: Interesting bug in Bard App

2013-10-15 Thread Richard Ring
Hearing an announce about the end of a side doesn't bother me one bit. However,
for example, while reading a collection of three Stephen King novels, when
hearing such a side announcement, the novel I was reading started over. This
has happened in three different books for me. It's not the out of date side
announcements that are troubling, it's losing my place in the book that I mind
a bit. I can live with it, just wondered if I were the only one experiencing it.

My apologies for being so vague, I was under the impression that no one else

What option are you talking about? I don't see enough information in
your message, and you didn't include the message you're responding to.

As a guess, look in Settings -> General -> Background App refresh. this
is just one setting that's been talked about lately to improve
performance and battery consumption. You can turn off app refresh in the
background globally or app by app.

Links to several articles on how to configure IOS 7 have been posted
lately with places to look in settings to configure different things. If
you walk through some of these, you may find the setting you're looking
for, or you could ask for it with a bit more detail here on list.

I did find a link for the app on the developer's website (see below):
http://www.rubbledev.com/tubeacco

Interestingly enough if you just go to www.RubbleDev.com there seems to be
no link to it. There is also no Contact Us link, but when I put in
www.RubbleDev.com/contact a message was displayed that they were updating
the site and a Contact Us form would be back up soon.

In the meantime I guess if you use Facebook or Twitter you could try and
contact them that way, but if the app was pulled over a year ago and has not
come back I assume the developer gave up on it.

Sieghard

Tubeacco whatever happened to it? I cannot find it anywhere in the
application store. In my opinion that's one the best apps they had to
manager YouTube items. If anyone could let me know whatever happened to this
wonderful application, I'll be very appreciative. Also, if you have the
developers address I would love to write to them and see what's going on
with it, thanks

Re: apple forcing updates yet again

2013-10-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
It's not really the issue, but how much space does this image really
take up? I've heard that the download size varries from 750M to 1.2G for
Verizon users. 3G is only needed during the install process. How do
people know it's really taking up 3G of their space? I wonder if some
uncompressing is going on after the image is downloaded, although I'd
expect this just to be done during the install process itself. It would
be pretty unfortunate for those 8G and 16G iPhone users who don't want
to move up to IOS 7 to lose even more space if the image is untangled in
preparation for the install.

On 10/15/2013 10:40 AM, Amy Billman wrote:

I will say though that once the update is at least downloaded (not

download's just sitting there eating three gb of space.
I'm sure eventually there will be no choice but to update, but there's no
way for it to happen accidentally or at the very least, without the terms
and conditions being agreed to.
Although... If you're running the latest iTunes and want to back up your
phone, will it only allow you to update to iOS7? I'm running it because
there's no reason not to, so I'm not sure how that would work... I know
itunes recognizes that your software is out of date, but unsure if you can
proceed with doing a backup without upgrading to the latest.
Sadly though, regardless of how it happened or what the cause was,
contacting disability services wil likely be an exercise in extreme
futility, since once you've upgraded, you're running it whether you want to
or not; from what Apple has told me anyway... *shrug* Nothing disability
department can do one way or the other since it's not an accessibility or
disability related issue.

Hi Paula,

I suspect that maybe whoever was helping her might have inadvertently tapped
Install or said Yes when asked to update, but you still have to Agree twice
to the Terms and Conditions and I really can't see how if you tap Decline it
would not let you out of the screen.

A couple of weeks ago somebody also posted that iOS 7 installed on their
phone automatically and I mean "installed" not just downloaded and there is
just no way it would do so because you just have to double tap I Agree and
then double tap it a second time.

Paula, I would contact the disability support number at Apple. That is
strange because I have not heard of that happening to anyone.
There were 2 people at our meeting last night who had not upgraded and they
didn't have that problem. Lots of luck!

tried re-setting the phone by holding down the lock and home button
for 10 seconds and just turning the phone off and back on again.
There still seemed to be no way to get out of the update prompt.
Going into the app switcher still didn't work. Anyone have any

Thanks.

Hi Grant,

Some apps do use the compass (Blindsquare is one) but I am not sure if the
variance described is enough to make a real difference. I am getting my 5S
tomorrow (HaHaHa, beat you) and I certainly appreciated Cara posting this
because at least one has a chance to specifically test for these issues. I
am a woodworker and I do build things and do my own
renovations/modifications to my home to a large degree, but it's not like
I'd ever use my iPhone as my authorative level, it's much to short to be
really precise. I have a dedicated audio level and even that is only 12
inches and there is a reason why framers use 4 foot long levels. I can see
how this might affect hard-core gamers which I am not and I suspect it will
be an academic problem for me, certainly not enough to scare me off like
Pablo who cancelled his order, but if I wasn't in a big hurry and my iPhone
wasn't due to arrive tomorrow I might consider that. Anyhow, I have 1 year
of warranty and I bought Apple Care so I am quite convinced that if I could
replicate this issue and it was quite serious I could get a replacement in a
couple of month when Apple has made the appropriate modifications.

On a general note, I think it must be a real nightmare to discover all of
these bugs and get them fixed. There are so many functions and features some
of which are very specific. I know it's easy to say "How can Apple release a
phone which has such obvious bugs" or "How can they release iOS 7 when it
has such obvious bugs". But it's always easier to play Monday morning
Quarterback and to draw on what tens of millions users report in the first
few weeks of using a new iiOS or a new device.

RE: Family photostream

Just register a new Apple ID for either yourself or your wife, then go to
Settings, Messages and sign out and back in with the new Apple ID. Do the
same for Settings, Facetime and you should be able to use Facetime and

the apps you purchased with your shared Apple Id.

Dear listers

I was about to move my wife's phone over to a different Apple ID for iCloud
so that we could Facetime each other but I realise that doing that would
mean that we would no longer share photostream which would be a real shame.
Is there any way of having different iCloud accounts but sharing one
photostream? I know there are shared photostreams but that involves manually
moving photos into it that you want to share doesn't it?

Thanks, Robin.

Hi,

Could you please expound on your statement that “they decided” this? I’ve seen
no indication that this was a deliberate change in the way things were handled.
Rather it was posed to me as an oversight or a bug that was missed and
therefore could be potentially fixed were it reported to Apple’s Accessibility
team.

And while it’s true that removing apps so afflicted from their folders would
temporarily fix the problem it doesn’t address the actual solution to the
problem which could potentially be forth coming unless you’ve received some
further information regarding this issue to which others haven’t yet
encountered.

Thank you for the clarification.

They decided that if an app was in a folder they would how show the badge
numbers such as items you need to update, etc. I don't care for it either but,
it is what it is.

Hi,

This problem is not specific to this app rather it’s an issue with folders that
have apps with badges within them. I have reported it to apple accessibility
via phone and their email

Perhaps if others join in and report the issue it’ll gain it some well deserved
attention.

Since the upgrade to iOS7, Fahrenheit will not display the current temperature

I have a Weather folder on my main page and Fahrenheit is one of 6 apps in this

the folder name as it did in iOS6.

anybody know of a fix or another app that will work correctly to display the

You beat me to it; I was going to post this same thing today. According to
many sources, this issue can be replicated on almost every single iPhone 5S
- or at least the first few early batches of them. A good test would be to
place your iPhone 5S on a flat table and see if the level reading in the
compass app is accurate. I'm actually more interested in hearing from people
whose phones give accurate readings, because those phones seem to be the
exception rather than the rule.

While I'm not sure which phones may be effected by this, it's definitely

Re: Interesting bug in Bard App

2013-10-15 Thread Alan Paganelli
I've had a book that was once a cassette book say end of side 3. To continue,
please turn the cassette over. I got a chuckle out of that but the book
continued on. Here's the weird part though. I hit the rewind button and held
it down and heard 5 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes and stopped there. /the book
continued on reading but where I heard the announcement end of side three, it
didn't play it. It just read as if that part never even happened. I have no
clue why or how that happened and to be honest about it, I don't care either it
was just one of those weird things you come across once in a wile. I'm not
trying to start a debate only sharing a weird event. Do what you will with it
and believe it or not as you see fit.

  Greetings:
The bug I am about to describe only occurs when reading a Bard book that was
converted from cassette to digital format. Here's what happens. You are reading
along, and you suddenly hear a phrase such as "end of side x" where X is any
side number. Suddenly, the book jumps back by at least one navigation unit. How
far the book jumps back depends upon the mark up present in the book. In some
books, this can be a chapter, while in others whose mark up is not as thorough,
you can jump to the beginning of a part or story you are reading.
I realize that nothing can be done about this until the Government opens

RE: apple forcing updates yet again

Hi Paula,

I suspect that maybe whoever was helping her might have inadvertently tapped
Install or said Yes when asked to update, but you still have to Agree twice

would not let you out of the screen.

A couple of weeks ago somebody also posted that iOS 7 installed on their

just no way it would do so because you just have to double tap I Agree and
then double tap it a second time.

RE: cases for 5s which offer excellent protection

2013-10-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Wren,

I don't agree with the person who said the Lifeproof case is a "nice" case.
It is not bad, but I bought one for my 4S a couple of years ago and while it
does offer good protection (as does the Otterbox Defender) it find both the
case and the belt clip is too bulky for my taste and daily use.

I also find the audio is slightly distorted when the phone is properly in my
case with the headphone jack cover screwed in and it's a pain in the neck to
unscrew this and make sure I don't lose it every time I decide I want to
quickly plug in my headset. I guess it would be OK if somebody used a
Bluetooth headset/earpiece with it as their preferred way to use a headset,
but I just happen to like the apple Earpods better than any Bluetooth
headset I have seen and tried so far. I usually don't bother screwing in the
plug unless I really need that complete waterproofness and using their
waterproof headset connector is also not a good solution because if you use
it you can only use a headset.

Lastly, my Lifeproof case has not been used all that much, but the little
door that you close and snap into place after you made sure the case is
properly sealed all the way around is now starting to come off and at this
point my case would be no longer waterproof. I just noticed this last week
when I collected all my 4S accessories as I am getting ready to sell my
unlocked 4S 64 Gb am I have to call Lifeproof today and see if they would
consider this a warranty.

In conclusion I would say that if you really felt you needed a waterproof
case then the Lifeproof case is OK, but I would certainly check out other
options before I bought one for my 5S.

Sieghard

Hi have you considered the life proof case? It goes completely around the
phone and is waterproof. There is a little door that you open with your
fingernail to recharge the phone, and there is a little screw that you have
to undo to get your headphones. The person who has one says it is easy to do
and the case has a screen protector and a slimmer than the OtterBox case.
God bless, Wren PS I have not seen it yet, but I do plan to buy a 5S
sometime in the future, and I will consider this case it is $79 at Best Buy,
and it is from what I understand a very nice case and you can purchase
either an armband separately or a belt clip separately or both if you are
like me. Smile.

Hi Kelly,

I just bought my 5S on Thursday. I didn't like the Otter Box case because
it was so bulky and also because some of my friends had nothing but trouble
with the trap doors that kept breaking. I had a leather case to go on my

I think they called it the Fiber 21 or something like that. The material is
some form of fiber that is supposed to distribute the shock if you drop the

I am curious on what cases are out there that offer excellent protection for

what I currently have for my 4s and it has not lived up to expectations. I
like the Otter box concept and would like to know are there any other cases
out there, which are similar. I want the phone completely encased and to
include a built in screen protector. Also, I don't want the case to be any
bulkier then the Otter box. Slimmer is better.

My husband is thinking of just getting one of the leather cases from apple
for his phone but I don't think that will be sufficient protection for my
liking. Thoughts, opinions and ideas would be appreciated.

apple forcing updates yet again

Hi, everyone. A coworker has an IPhone 5 running IOS 6. She does not want
to update right now. Yesterday someone was helping her with her phone, and
the phone asked if she wanted to update. The only option was "ok". There
appears to be no way to get out of that screen. We tried re-setting the
phone by holding down the lock and home button for 10 seconds and just
turning the phone off and back on again. There still seemed to be no way to
get out of the update prompt. Going into the app switcher still didn't
work. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm disappointed to see this with no
option to cancel.

Thanks.

God bless!

Spooky activity in multitasking that puts the Oo in OoTunes

2013-10-15 Thread Robin Christopherson
Dear listers
This is probably an intentional feature of the way that iOS7 does multitasking
but it was spooky nonetheless. I was streaming a radio station on OoTunes and
went into the taskswitcher and cleared it out. I used to do this with
TuneInRadio as I felt sure it was buffering the stream over 3G even when
closed. I then happened to press the play remote control on the earbuds and
OoTunes started streaming again even though it had been banished from the
taskswitcher. Spooky eh? For info I wasn’t listening to halloween radio or
anything like that – if I had been perhaps I might have really got the creeps.
Thanks, Robin.

I think that the app might due in a pinch if your hanging a picture or that
kind of thing. For anything really serious, it won't cut it. I don't care
what model iPhone you use it on and there are better other leveling apps.
You have to try them 1 by 1 to see which works best for your needs. If you
really need it to be level, there are several on the market which will beep
a steady tone when it's level that work much better.

Hi Grant,

Some apps do use the compass (Blindsquare is one) but I am not sure if
the
variance described is enough to make a real difference. I am getting my
5S

tomorrow (HaHaHa, beat you) and I certainly appreciated Cara posting this
because at least one has a chance to specifically test for these issues.
I

am a woodworker and I do build things and do my own
renovations/modifications to my home to a large degree, but it's not like
I'd ever use my iPhone as my authorative level, it's much to short to be
really precise. I have a dedicated audio level and even that is only 12
inches and there is a reason why framers use 4 foot long levels. I can
see
how this might affect hard-core gamers which I am not and I suspect it
will

be an academic problem for me, certainly not enough to scare me off like
Pablo who cancelled his order, but if I wasn't in a big hurry and my
iPhone
wasn't due to arrive tomorrow I might consider that. Anyhow, I have 1
year
of warranty and I bought Apple Care so I am quite convinced that if I
could
replicate this issue and it was quite serious I could get a replacement
in

a
couple of month when Apple has made the appropriate modifications.

On a general note, I think it must be a real nightmare to discover all of
these bugs and get them fixed. There are so many functions and features
some
of which are very specific. I know it's easy to say "How can Apple
release

a
phone which has such obvious bugs" or "How can they release iOS 7 when it
has such obvious bugs". But it's always easier to play Monday morning
Quarterback and to draw on what tens of millions users report in the
first

few weeks of using a new iiOS or a new device.

Sieghard

Apparently, Apple now likes to be a little edgy but hard core sex is too

Hi,

Could you please expound on your statement that "they decided" this? I've
seen no indication that this was a deliberate change in the way things were
handled. Rather it was posed to me as an oversight or a bug that was missed
and therefore could be potentially fixed were it reported to Apple's
Accessibility team.

And while it's true that removing apps so afflicted from their folders would
temporarily fix the problem it doesn't address the actual solution to the
problem which could potentially be forth coming unless you've received some
further information regarding this issue to which others haven't yet
encountered.

Thank you for the clarification.

Re: cases for 5s which offer excellent protection

2013-10-15 Thread Kelly Pierce
Ron,

When I obtained my first iPhone last year, I went back to the Apple
store where I bought it and checked out their cases. The Apple store
had several leather cases that came across as sophisticated and
functional. They would fit inside a suit jacket perfectly without
leaving a bulge or being so heavy the case makes the jacket hang
awkwardly as the heavy duty cases do. I’m so glad you found a case
that offers the protection from a drop, shows off the 5s elegance and
gives the protection you need.

I too bought a private insurance plan. Rob at Today in iOS has said
repeatedly that Apple Care does not include water damage. Now that I
am insured until 2016, I have thought a little bit about the issue.
As a blind person, I have become mindful about the proper care and use
of the tools I use for my independence. When I was without a computer
for a few days when I spilled a glass of water on the keyboard, I
learned a lesson to be careful and to set up systems for handling
liquids around electronic devices. I avoid taking the iPhone into a
bathroom or kitchen. I also put it into a sealed Ziploc bag if I am
going to be around a swimming pool, beach, or in a small boat. I
learned the last idea from the guys who carry their firearm everywhere
down here in the states. The problem is with wet hands or small
splashes that can really do damage rather than having the item dunked
in water.

Re: cases for 5s which offer excellent protection

2013-10-15 Thread Lea Langley
Hi have you considered the life proof case? It goes completely around the phone
and is waterproof. There is a little door that you open with your fingernail to
recharge the phone, and there is a little screw that you have to undo to get
your headphones. The person who has one says it is easy to do and the case has
a screen protector and a slimmer than the OtterBox case. God bless, Wren PS I
have not seen it yet, but I do plan to buy a 5S sometime in the future, and I
will consider this case it is $79 at Best Buy, and it is from what I understand
a very nice case and you can purchase either an armband separately or a belt
clip separately or both if you are like me. Smile.

Re: Passcode entry with handwriting

2013-10-15 Thread Neil Barnfather - TalkNav
One of the things I really like about hand writing your pass code is that Voice
Over does not announce the numbers I am drawing, and, I have got extremely good
at writing them very small on the screen, as such, someone sighted does not,
when looking over my shoulder, get the idea from my hand movements what I am
writing.
