Phone Drive Add Network Place
I'm currently running the latest version of Phone Drive on my iPhone 4S and on my home computer I'm running XP. From the computer I can connect to Phone Drive using Internet Explorer, but when I connect through My Network places none of the folders in Phone drive appear on my computer. Re: Fleksy Alternatives for pre-iOS 7 Users?
Honestly I can't think of any other app that with no prior notice pulled support from a large chunk of its users (those on iOS 6 in this case). Yes I have an iPhone 4 and no, I don't want to upgrade to 7 for an obvious variety of reasons - and most certainly not because an app forces me to. What I find absolutely mind-boggling is that we're talking here about an offline app, that worked very well thank you on iOS 6 before. Yes, I did contact Fleksy support and they simply told me that Fleksy version 1.9 (the last iOS 6 working version) is not supported anymore. As if they had to! Yes, there are apps that only work on iOS 7 these days. But they either started on iOS 7, or they have a backend that no longer supports the iOS 6 version. As far as I understand, the technology behind Fleksy is built-in inside the app and does not require online presence (heck, if a typing app requires you to be connected to their servers, then something is fishy big time). So in short I find no excusable justification to what Fleksy did. They're lucky their service is not high profile and they don't affect a real lot of paying users. Just think the backlash that, say, Apple would get if suddenly iTunes would no longer start on OS X pre-Mavericks, and would give you no option but to upgrade, even on a 2007 laptop. Luckily for them Fleksy is no Apple. But at this rate, I don't see them even turning profitable. What a shame when it's not the technology that buries you, but poor customer support. /end of rant -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Another way to access MixCloud content via iPhone?
Hi, as you might know, the MixCloud app has always had its problems being accessible wit VoiceOver. Now, after the last update, it's nearly impossible to use it as a blind. When I have searched for a CloudCast and want to open it, the focus always gets back to the sidebar where to choose Me, Feed and so on. If I can open it anyway, either the app crashes or after loading the CloudCast, nothing happens when hitting the Play button. Now, I'm looking for an alternative to Access MixCloud content. RE: Apple Maps
I too use Google Maps primarily. The only area I've found it lacking is transit directions. Otherwise it's been 100% accessible for me anyway. For the known location, as it is a small shop in a long block of shops, I was pleasantly surprised. I know better than to expect that level of accuracy all the time. Such expectations are completely unrealistic given how GPS works. As to rerouting when I went off route, well, the bus goes off route regularly. Apple Maps rerouted quickly and quietly in the background. On my iPhone 5, it was a complete pleasure to use Apple Maps, now that I have taken plenty of time to understand how Apple Maps does things. Some info for a friend
Hi;: I am asking for a friend. He use to have phones that could send ring tones to his friends by bluetooth. He is wondering if the i-phone can do the same? The way I understand it, he was able to some how bluetooth his phone to another phone and send ringtones to each others phone. I thank you all for the info in advance. Re: Radium info needed
Hi Don, There is a podcast on the Applevis site. Go there, search for radium, and it will be the first result. There's one thing in that podcasts which is not quite accurate. That is, you can get the live sports such as NFL. The guy who did the podcast was not able to get them but if you have an XM subscription on one of their radios, you can get those games. If you are specifically interested in at Sam, open radium, open more options, then double tap subscriptions. Select XM, and enter your credentials. Then you can type sirius into the search box on the main radium screen. And you will see a whole lot of listings. It's not like music doc, in that that app had all the listings already there for you as I recall. But this has more stations than music doc does. You can also type things like Russian, which I did and hit over 500 stations. Or you can type the call letters of the station. Or you can type a music genre. Then when you have your list of stations there is a button to add each to favorites and also a play toggle. Sent from my iPhone On Dec 9, 2013, at 11:27 AM, Donald L. Roberts donald.robert...@gmail.com wrote: My initial post elicited no response, so I thought I would try again. Please would someone either point me to some instructions for using the Radium player or, in lieu of a podcast or something, please provide a few pointers as to the use of this app. Also, I used to use Music Dock, so I would appreciate comments from persons familiar with both apps. If I remember correctly, there were two apps with the name radium, and I got the one called radium perfect. Thanks in advance for any info. Looking for an e-mail client that will duplicate Microsoft Exchange filters
Hi all, For those on the blindphones e-mail list, I have asked this before. I am asking again since there are more iPhone users here. My iPhone is synchronized with my e-mail account at work. My employer uses Microsoft Exchange. I have a few filters in that account. Is there any e-mail client that will duplicate those filters on the phone? The filters move messages from various senders into different mail boxes. Pranav -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. strange ipad search findings
Hi all, I still have an old iPad 1 running ios 5. Having heard that audiobooks hq is now voice over compatible, I first tried searching for this app in the app store on my shiny new iPad mini 2nd gen. The search lets you search for iPad only apps or iPhone only apps, but there is on all category as there still is on my older iPad when I go for an app store search. Using the new Mini, my search turned up no hits. Using the old iPad, I got the app first try. What happened to the all apps category under device? That is the only difference with my search on the two iPads. So this old iPad is still good for something. smile Mary Mary Otten motte...@gmail.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: sorting fb friends on the iphone question
You can do this by accessing M.Facebook.com and then go to the profile of your friend then at the bottom it will save managed list. Hi, correct me if I'm wrong, but 2-finger double-tap is only used to end dictation. to start it, one must double tap the dictate button. Google maps - Was Re: Apple Maps
Hi, I'm also a Google Maps user for most of my travel needs. The only issue I have right now with Google Maps is when you bring up a public transit route, it's not reading the bus number I must catch like it used to. If there is a setting somewhere to display this, I have not found it. Other than that, the app is great. -- Raul A. Gallegos Oh I'm not arguing, I'm simply explaining why I'm right. - Sheldon Cooper Twitter and Facebook user ID: rau47 On 12/10/2013 3:33 PM, Christopher Chaltain wrote: Why do you say Google Maps has much to be desired with respect to accessibility? A few months ago, I tried using Apple Maps to get to my destination. I tried using the name of the business, but Apple Maps wouldn't find my destination that way. I tried entering the address directly, but I got an invalid address message. I typed the name of the business in Google Maps, and it came right up. I've been using Google Maps ever since, and I haven't noticed any accessibility issues with it. I realize my problems with Apple Maps were probably user error, and I plan to give it a try again, but I just find Google Maps so accessible and so much more intuitive. I found things work better when I place VO on a piece of information to monitor. Otherwise, it does not announce until the turn comes up. Given the vagaries of GPS, I found the margins for turn announcements to be on-par with other GPS apps. When walking, I did find the announcement that I arrived was often made right after the 15 metre announcement (I was tracking remaining distance at the time, but in both cases, the announcement was within a couple metres of the door. In one case, I already knew where my destination was located. In the other case, I did not know. As it was a clear day, I am not surprised about the very high accuracy for the unknown location. I only hope public transit option is implemented soon because Google Maps has much to be desired with accessibility. Apple Maps shows me the name of each city and country where the address and street is valid. I double-tap on the city I want. Now, a pop-up window opens. At the top of the display is Directions Button. One flick right shows the full address in the search field. After that is one's current location. Mighty boom Buster speaker ball!
Hi, I've just received, through the post, something I ordered last week. Now, I must be honest, I have only played with it for half an hour or so, but, considering the price, the size, the portability, this is a brilliant little toy! So, what is it? Basically, it is a small plastic ball measuring approximately an inch and a half in diameter. One half of the ball unscrews and shows a sticky rubberised pad. This sticky pad can be attached to, virtually, any surface. The ball is connected via cable directly to your iPhone. There is a small battery case for two I think they are called penlight batteries but will check on that later halfway along this cable. Also, when I say iPhone, this device will work with any sound output device that has an ear plug Jack so, a nano and iPod and iPad or any of the android devices. What it does: it uses the structure of the body to which you have attached it as a speaker. Thus, when I stick it to my large fridge I get a good big sound with a reasonable degree of base! Wooden cupboards are, of course, very good too! You can create different kinds of sound using different items, for example, a tin might get you more high-pitched frequencies. I was thinking, this might be useful for people with hearing difficulties who prefer different frequencies. It is, of course, a sort of toy! But it actually works! I think it cost about €12, but don't quote me on that. This is something you can put in a pocket attached to the key ring or put in your bag and you could easily forget that you've got it. But you do have to remember to keep the cables and batteries with it. I shall play some more, but I was thinking it a worthwhile thing to mention here especially with Christmas coming up! It may be that there are Bluetooth versions of these which would make it even more portable! But as it stands I'm very glad have bought this one for now. Below is the first scan I have taken from the small bit of documentation that came with the device. Maybe it will whet your appetite? And I will be back with more info, if anyone is interested, that is. Sandy Thank you for purchasing this product. Re: Apple Maps
I haven't used Google Maps for public transportation yet. I haven't had any trouble clicking on a route though, getting more details about the route and starting the spoken turn by turn navigation in either driving or walking mode. You may have found an accessibility issue with Google Maps, but maybe others who use it with public transportation can help. On 12/11/2013 12:43 AM, David Chittenden wrote: When I selected public transit in Apple Maps for my planned route, a screen opened with Google Maps as one of the choices already on my iPhone. I selected Google Maps. Google Maps showed me a screen with the bus stop I needed to walk to. I was shown three bus times since the time I ran the app had no buses running. I selected the time I desired from the three and nothing happened. I double-tapped, found the location on the display and split-tapped, triple-tapped, and performed the double-tap and hold pass through gesture. Nothing caused the display to change or my selection to be accepted. I could not find anything that showed me the entire route, or even where I was supposed to get off the bus. Any suggestions? I've been using Google Maps ever since, and I haven't noticed any accessibility issues with it. I realize my problems with Apple Maps were probably user error, and I plan to give it a try again, but I just find Google Maps so accessible and so much more intuitive. For the known location, as it is a small shop in a long block of shops, I was pleasantly surprised. I know better than to expect that level of accuracy all the time. Such expectations are completely unrealistic given how GPS works. As to rerouting wh en I went off route, well, the bus goes off route regularly. Apple Maps rerouted quickly and quietly in the background. On my iPhone 5, it was a complete pleasure to use Apple Maps, now that I have taken plenty of time to understand how Apple Maps does things. I only hope public transit option is implemented soon because Google Maps has much to be desired with accessibility. In iOS 7, this has changed. If the edit field is in editing mode, and the onscreen keyboard is visible, a two-finger double tap will start dictation. RE: Ipad mini
Hi Carol, Primarily it is the jump of 2 generations from an A5 to an A7 processor and the fact that the iPad Mini now has a retina display which has a much higher resolution. The latter may not be of much interest to you, the former puts the iPad Mini on par with the iPhone 5S and the regular iPad in terms of processing power although Apple set the processor's clock speed slightly lower than that of the regular iPad. If you already own an iPad Mini then there is little reason to upgrade, if you are thinking of getting one then with the new processor it's a beautiful and very fast device. RE: Has anyone upgraded to IOS7 on an iPhone 4?
Hi Bill, I feel pretty comfortable saying that if you had set up your iPhone 4S completely as a new phone and started from scratch you would have had no problem. I ran iOS 7 starting mid August with the last Beta version, then upgraded to the public release and I never noticed a slow-down in anything except maybe the initial opening of an app which may have taken a second or 2 longer. On an iPhone 4 you could notice a bigger speed difference although it has gotten better with the updates. I recently read that iOS 7.1 runs much faster on an iPhone 4 and it seems that it runs just as well as iOS 6 ever did. A Beta of iOS 7.1 has been available to developers for about 3 weeks now and the feedback I have seen is pretty good. I usually follow the messages quite carefully and most people who had a 4S felt it ran the same with iOS 7 as it did with iOS 6. I don't know if you do the basic housekeeping tasks before upgrading such as making sure all apps are closed in the app switcher, doing a reboot of the phone etc., but had my 4S been sluggish after the upgrade I would have just redone the upgrade and set up the phone as a new device, this usually fixes any issues and issues can occur if you restore from a backup. Re: where to find james in voicedream
First, you have to be sure you are running version 2.93 of VoiceDream. Then, go to settings, double-tap on Manage My Voices, then double-tap where it says Add Voices. The default list is All voices. James, on my device, is on the screen with rows 11 to 18, and is between Heather and Will. If anyone still can't find it, either they are not running version 2.93 or they perhaps need to get sighted help. Note that the place where it says, Add Voices, does not say it is a button, but it is. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. RE: I hotel ap
Booking.com is very accessible, there are only a few minor qwerks and I have notified Booking.com about them. Last year they fixed the app very nicely based on some suggestions I sent to them and they have been very responsive with respect to accessibility. Other travel apps which seem to work well and which also include hotel bookings as well as flights and other stuff are Expedia and Kayak. The app from Hotels.com also seems accessible and useable, maybe not quite as well done as booking.com. I am planning to get in touch with them as well to see if they would look at improving accessibility. The nice thing with Hotels.com is that if you use them to book 10 nights you get a free bonus night. I'm really having a problem with syncing music and I have no idea what to do
Hi, I purchased some music from the itunes store about a week ago. I plugged in my phone to add the music to my itunes library and so that I could sync the music to my iPod touch 4. I went in tto the purchased playlist on my phone which is where all purchased music goes and there are 10 songs less but the amount of music reflects that the songs are there. I then went in to recently added and all the songs are there too. I then connected my iPod touch 4 and all the songs that were purchased are showing up in the purchased area. I’ve unchecked and checked every box in itunes and still in purchased music 10 songs are missing but in the music under songs they are all there and in recently added they are there. I called apple care and they had no idea. I’m hoping someone can help me so I can make this right. Thanks for any help. Groundwire and Acrobits Softphone apps for iPhone and iPad on sale for 50% (December 11, 2013)
Hi All, Acrobits has just placed its iOS apps for SIP services on sale for 50%. These are: • Groundwire - Business Caliber SIP Phone ($4.99, usually lists for $9.99) by Acrobits https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/groundwire-business-caliber/id378503081?mt=8 • Acrobits Softphone SIP phone for VoIP calls ($2.99, usually lists for $5.99) by Acrobits https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/acrobits-softphone-for-ipad/id599981890?mt=8 • Acrobits Softphone for iPad ($5,99, usually lists for $12.99) by Acrobits https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/acrobits-softphone-for-ipad/id599981890?mt=8 The first two apps are known to be accessible, and have entries at AppleVis. The iPad version is a relatively recent release from a few months ago, but has been through three updates, and I don't know details of its accessibility. However, this capability of making calls through the iPad may be of interest to some users. Note that you must have a service providers hat supports these capabilities for this to work. Kelly posted a recent iPhone on the Cheap user guide at AppleVis explaining the use of such services and gave the link to it in a recent list post. I'll paste in her shortened link here: http://is.gd/Dd3as2 You can also find other useful posts by using the link to this group's Mail Archive page and searching for older posts related to this topic. for example, here's a link to an archived post by Sieghard on the Groundwire SIP client: http://www.mail-archive.com/viphone@googlegroups.com/msg47265.html Please do some background reading about these apps before posting questions. Kelly's guide is a good place to get started. RE: Bluetooth speaker/dock for iPhone qestion
Bill, I may have recently recommended this to someone else. Below is the Amazon link. It is several years old now, so has the original 30-pin connector. However, it works great with the 30-pin to lightning adapter for my iPhone 5, Touch and iPad Mini, even in cases. This speaker/dock has an internal rechargeable battery that lasts a good long time. It will recharge the iDevice whether the speaker is plugged into power or not. It has an auxiliary 3.5mm jack for those devices that do not connect with the pin or lightning plug. The speaker only has three buttons for base, a volume rocker and power. The sound is excellent, especially considering it was originally $120-something and now is under $50. Very portable and comes with a very nice padded carry pouch that doubles brilliantly for a wine bottle. (Note the link is wrapping to the second line.) HTH! RE: Groundwire and Acrobits Softphone apps for iPhone and iPad on sale for 50% (December 11, 2013)
Just as an endorsement, Groundwire is definitely a fantastic app and completely accessible. It's a good buy at $4.99 and anybody who is using VoIP calling would probably not regret getting it. As Esther said, these apps all require subscriptions to VoIP providers and there are too many out there to list them, but Groundwire also supports incoming calls if you have an incoming VoIP number and it even works if the app is not in the app switcher. In this case you get a push notification which allows you to answer the call. The app is very much like the stock Phone app with a Favorites tab called Quickdial, a recents tab called History, a keypad and access to your contacts list. You can also record both sides of an ongoing phone call, the Record button is just there along with buttons for Speakerphone, keypad etc. One thing Groundwire does not offer yet is touch dialing, e.g. you have to double or split tab the numbers and I find it often does not work well for dialing access numbers or entering account numbers. Skype currently has the edge here since to my knowledge it is the only app where touch typing works on the keypad although it also only works on the main keypad, if you are already on a call and bring up the keypad to enter numbers, then once again you have to double or split tab. RE: Question on your bluetooth speaker.
Hi Ed, I am also sharing this with the list because others might be interested. The speaker I think you refer to was the Turtleshell by Outdoor Technology. This is a very good Bluetooth speaker which also has an IPX-65 water/dustproof rating which means while you cannot submerse it for any length of time, it is splash proof and totally OK to use in the rain and it's definitely OK in the shower where it's damp and where it might get splashed a bit. Outdoor Tech recently released the Turtleshell 2 which is much improved in that it uses Bluetooth 4.0, it is louder, it has voice prompts and you have a battery indicator in the status bar on the phone. The other good thing is that even though it's a better speaker, it now costs $130 US whereas the original one used to be I think $170 US. The Turtleshell also has a 3.5mm jack so you could also use it with a cable and any device with a 3.5mm output. It has volume and playback controls, it's also a speakerphone and it has a standard camera/tripod threaded mounting hole. Battery life is 16 hours with over 700 hours standby. You can check it out at http://www.outdoortechnology.com/Shop/Turtle-Shell/ I am a dealer for these as I sell them at my outdoor retail store, but unfortunately the company is a bit slow in responding. I have been sending them emails and calling for the last 10 days as I want to order some of the Turtleshell 2 and they haven't replied yet. I have the original Turtleshell and use it a lot. The speakerphone is not great but I expect it to be better on the new one, as a speaker it's awesome and in my opinion much better than the original Jambox which I also have. Outdoor Tech also introduced a new smaller speaker called Buckshot which is I think $50 retail, it still has a speakerphone. The Turtleshell comes in Black, Electric Blue, Red, White, Seafoam Green, Purple,, Orange and Green. I believe quite a few of the colours are still out of stock since the second generation of the speaker has been released not very long ago. I have 1 person who would like to get one and if anybody else is interested you can write to me directly at siegh...@live.ca. If I get enough interest to order a bunch of them which means cheaper shipping to me, I could probably do a bit of a special price for list members. The company does offer free shipping if you order directly at the $130 price, once I find out what my cost is I could give people a definite price including shipping. It wouldn't be a huge difference and it would depend on how much interest there is. I definitely believe that this is one of the better speakers out there especially if you like something that is rugged and ready for use outdoors or the shower/bathroom and looking at other options I don't often see Bluetooth 4.0 even from established companies. Regards, Sieghard From: Pinky [mailto:pink...@abe.midco.net] Sent: Wednesday, December 11, 2013 10:18 AM To: siegh...@live.ca Subject: Question on your bluetooth speaker. Also would you recommend this speaker or would you suggest another kind. I have one now I bought from Wally World for 19.95 made by Phillips. It work pretty good but does not have a volume control on it. So whatever info you can provide me with for a good Bluetooth speaker would be appreciated. RE: Apex staying paired with IPad and IPhoneBluetooth and
It often happens that when you are unsuccessful at pairing the Apex, or any other device with either the iPad or the iPhone, you need to begin the entire process all over again. But, first, you need to tell the iPad to forget this device. You can then attempt to pair and if you still hear the iPad tell you that search is dimmed, you probably will need to turn off BlueTooth in both the iPad, as well as the Apex and reboot both devices and start the entire pairing process again. Unfortunately, you don't have much time to enter the and then quickly find the pair button. Sometimes I have been lucky and have paired very quickly; however, the first time I paired my Apex with an iPhone, it took me about an hour to do it. Re: Ipad mini
Yes, the hardware different for ipad mini and the new mini retina is generally the processer, and also the size. The new mini is actually a touch bigger than the mini 1st gen. Like Raul said, 1st gen mini is using ipad2 processer, and the latest mini is using a i7 processer. It is not too noticable but the 1st gen mini is slightly slowing down with ios7, compare to ios6. Which, it is rather expected. However, like Sieghard said, it is depends on an individual. Can you accept a slightly slow processer, (less than 1 second slow) or you need to be always on the fasters and the latest and newest device. As for me, i would like to have th newest and latest and fastest, but, i'm not sure if i can justify to pay another $500 or more to own that. Not to say Apple just replace my first gen mini for a new first gen mini after my Apple care out by 2 months. If you are considering a new ipad mini, then, by all means, ipad mini retina will be a better choice for you than the mini 1st gen. Sent from my iPad On 12/12/2013, at 3:53 AM, Raul A. Fwd: [IDevices] {Disarmed} FW: Get Walking Directions in Maps for iPhone
Sent from my iPhone Begin forwarded message: From: Denny Huff de...@gatewayfortheblind.com Date: December 11, 2013 at 7:06:26 PM EST To: 'IDevices Group' idevi...@gatewayfortheblind.com Subject: [IDevices] {Disarmed} FW: Get Walking Directions in Maps for iPhone Reply-To: de...@gatewayfortheblind.com I don’t know how well this works with voiceover but you might try it and let us know. Feed: OS X Daily Posted on: Wednesday, December 11, 2013 5:02 PM Author: Paul Horowitz Subject: Get Walking Directions in Maps for iPhone Many urbanites and city dwellers get about by walking, the oldest form of transportation in existence. If you’re one of us who often gets about a concrete jungle by propelling your legs in a forwardly direction, you’ll be pleased to know that the popular mapping applications in iOS have you covered. Both the default Maps app from Apple and Google Maps offer walking directions, though using each is slightly different. Set Walking Directions as Default in Apple Maps for iOS Notice this is “set” walking directions, because with Apple Maps you can set the default direction choice to be walking, which is excellent if you spend most of your time in a walkable downtown region. Open the “Settings” app and choose “Maps” Scroll down to “Preferred Directions” and tap on “Walking” to set foot traffic as your new default preference Exit out of Settings and go back to the Maps app for changes to take effect Directions will now be provided with a preference by foot travel, and it’s usually pretty good, providing sidewalk shortcuts and foot/bike overpasses when possible. For the most part, this is really best for a city, and it’s a largely fruitless endeavor beyond the obvious for smaller towns, which often set the walking directions as the same as driving directions. This can also be useful to toggle on for those visiting a downtown region for the day, say if you have a car parked in a garage and have spent the day walking around, since it can make the pin drop find-your-car trick more appropriate for getting back to the car by foot. Get Walking Directions in Google Maps for iOS Google Maps handles walking directions a bit different than Apple Maps, with no general default setting other than what you last used. This means if you last looked for driving directions, that will be your default, or if you last used walking, then foot travel would be the default. Anyway, using Google for walking directions is super simple: Open Google Maps and search for a destination, or tap and hold to drop a pin Tap the walking guy icon at the top of the screen to toggle walking directions on Now tap the desired route from the list to draw walking directions on the map Google Maps seems to have more walking data than Apple Maps, and you’ll sometimes get slightly different and often better walking directions for some locations, particularly smaller cities. Google also lets you drop a destination into the middle of nowhere, meaning no where near a road at all, and it will try it’s best to give you walking directions to get there – which can mean travel through parks, trails, walkways, and other corridors that may be otherwise not quite obvious. Even for driving I generally recommend having both Google Maps and Apple Maps installed on iPhones, since adding Google Maps doesn’t take up much space, and, let’s face it, it’s still more accurate for many places anyway. The accuracy gap is shrinking, but urban folks will still often be better served by Google Maps, and thus it really does deserve a place on the iPhone of anyone who plans on spending a lot of time walking about in a city, even if it’s just for vacation. Another helpful trick is to remember that many city streets are laid out on a grid, sometimes in obvious north/south/east/west fashion, which can makes reorienting the maps to be pointing north particularly helpful when walking around. VoiceDream Reader.
Hi list, I haven't seen my message on list, so am trying this again. How do I associate Bookshare books with VoiceDream? Got the free version and am using the iPhone 4S 32 gig. Re: Fleksy Alternatives for pre-iOS 7 Users?
I'm not sure Fleksy is leaving that many people behind. The vast majority of people have moved up to IOS 7. I think the people with a real beef are those iPhone 3 users who can't move up to IOS 7 at all. Fleksy is by no means the only app that predates IOS 7 which is now only supported on IOS 7. Obviously, a developer would have to spend testing resources on IOS 6 and IOS 7 if they're going to continue to support both levels of the operating system. This cost alone may keep a small company from supporting both operating systems. It's also my understanding that Apple changes API's from version to version, so it's not a given that there's no work involved in supporting both IOS 6 and IOS 7. Apple did take a beating when they rolled out IOS 7 updates automatically to people whether they upgraded or wanted to upgrade or not, so I'm sure they'd take a beating in the scenario you described below. This doesn't mean it isn't a good business idea for Apple to keep moving people up and for developers to assume everyone is on the latest. This model has obviously been wildly successful for Apple, and there's a lot of benefits for Apple, developers and users to all be on the latest and greatest software. On 12/11/2013 12:48 AM, Lucian Fratila wrote: Honestly I can't think of any other app that with no prior notice pulled support from a large chunk of its users (those on iOS 6 in this case). /end of rant -- Christopher (CJ) chaltain at Gmail -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: VoiceDream Reader.
I think you have to have the paid version of Voice Dream Reader to access Bookshare books. If you get the paid version, you will go into settings in the Voice Dream app, double-tap on Bookshare, double-tap on enable and enter your Bookshare login information. Hi all, I frequenntly have to access large PDFs. In the native reader, if you move to another app while reading a PDF and then return to the PDF it seems it takes you back to the beginning of the document. This is frustrating when you're in a 600 pade PDF and have to scroll to find where you were. I've also tried the adobe Reader for iOS but it seems to have it's own limitations as well, reading an entire page at a time as opposed to say, a single paragraph on a page. Has anyone had better results with other apps? Thanks, todd -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. I now notice what all the hullaballoo is about. James is indeed fantastic. And i can hear him easily as I am losing high frequency hearing. Teresa On the other hand, there are different fingers. James, on my device, is on the screen with rows 11 to 18, and is between Heather and Will. If anyone still can't find it, either they are not running version 2.93 or they perhaps need to get sighted help.
