You need to install nxdialog to /usr/bin on the X2Go Server and set
NX_CLIENT to /usr/bin/nxdialog during session startup (i.e. before

Hello,

your bug report is a bit "unspecific". What desktop environment / window
manager are you using? What kind of session? Where are you connecting to?
How is your session configured? Have you tried pyhoca-cli and / or
pyhoca-gui?

What is the best approach to address this. As X2Go Client interacts
with the remote X session, it surely would make sense to launch the
complete X2Go Client process via QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb and require
XWayland to run. Is that a viable approach? Where should we enforce
that (that being the switched from Wayland display to X11 display)?

Hello Mike

Thank you for your fast response and sorry for my slow one.

It wasn't that, but your tip showed me the way.
The answer begins here:

https://git.ghostscript.com/?p=ghostpdl.git=search=HEAD=commit=setpdfwrite

Ghostscript deprecated 'setpdfwrite' in 2019 and removed it in 2021,
or version 9.54.

To solve this, I edited /etc/cups/cups-x2go.conf:

ps2pdf = /usr/bin/gs -q -dCompatibilityLevel=1.4 -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH
-dSAFER -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=-
-dAutoRotatePages=/PageByPage -dAutoFilterColorImages=false
-dColorImageFilter=/FlateEncode -dPDFSETTINGS=/prepress
-dDoNumCopies -f \"%s\"

This alone should've solved my problem... yet it wasn't working :(
After many hours of self commiseration, I found that the culprit to
be a leading space in the command, in this line

my $gs_pid = open2 ($gs_out, $gs_in, $ps2pdf_cmd, @ps2pdf_args);

where $ps2pdf_cmd would translate to ' /usr/bin/gs'.

So, I had to learn just enough Perl to correct this:

if($option eq "ps2pdf")
{
$ps2pdf=$value;
$ps2pdf=~s/^\s+//; < my solution
}

Now, about sending patches... I've never done it before.

I'm not sure if just changing the default ghostscript command line,
hardcoded in the Perl script and the .conf file, is the best
solution for everyone.
And I'm not sure if the way I found to trim that leading whitespace
is the best solution.

I'm too uncertain.

Regards,
Rui Ferreira

Thanks for the follow-up. To be 100% sure, your changes land in
cups-x2go appropriately, please do the following:

git clone https://code.x2go.org/git/cups-x2go.git

Now copy your version of the cups-x2go script into the newly cloned
cups-x2go/ folder.

Change dir into that folder and check output of "git diff".

Commit that change, e.g. via "git commit --patch -m "cups-x2go: Fix
." Find a good commit message one-liner.

The run "git format-patch HEAD~..HEAD". This will create a patch file.

Please send this patch file attached to a reply to this mail.

Thanks!

Mike

Re: [X2Go-User] Session not starting with Python 3 on Windows

2021-08-03 Thread Mike Gabriel

Hi Tomáš,

sorry for the delay in my reply. I was on VAC.

On Di 27 Jul 2021 21:10:57 CEST, Tomáš Cerha wrote:

And are there any known attempts to make it work on Python 3 on Windows?

Nope. Currently not.

Your problem seems to be in this session.log line:

```
Error: Wrong version or invalid session authentication cookie.
```

Do I understand it correctly when I assume that cookie is not the
problem when I see the same cookie in X2Go client log and in the
options file present in the session directory as indicated below?

Hmmm... you are right. Yes.

pytis2go[8736] (x2goproxy-pylib) DEBUG: NX3 Proxy mode is server,
cookie=2532ea9e54c10c087472bb500e715d1d, host=127.0.0.1, port=52113.

The “options” file in the session directory contains:

nx/nx,retry=5,composite=1,connect=127.0.0.1,clipboard=1,cookie=2532ea9e54c10c087472bb500e715d1d,port=52113,errors=.\..\S-cerha-50-1627381881_stRxterm_dp32\session.err:50

So if the cookie is ok, what problem might be with the version? How
do I check which version is expected?

Hmmm...

Are you sure that the user that launches nxproxy.exe can access the
local (MS Windows side) Xserver correctly?

Yes, believe that the user can access the Windows xserver (VcXsrv
1.15.2.2) because when I run the same client in Python 2 environment
with the same X server, it works as expected.

Hmmm...

Or, the cookie string is wrong (see options file) and differs by
some reason (X2Go client side / server side).

Probably not as indicated above.

Both the X server and the nxproxy.exe binary are the same versions
in both cases (with X2Go client running in Python 2 or Python 3).
It just does not work with Python 3.

Oh well, then it really must be the Python 3 variant of the code.

In nx-libs upstream sources [1], you find some testscripts that you
could modify and check if the interplay of nxproxy.exe (MSWin
version) and nxagent (on Linux / X2Go Server) play together well.

Thank you for pointing this out. I will try to experiment with these
testscripts.

The only bit on Python X2Go that never was really tested against
Python3 is the code in x2go/xserver.py. This code is only used on
Windows.

I am not sure at all, if your implementation uses it. If it is, make
sure it doesn't do unexpected things.

Also, Windows firewall might be blocking traffic. I assume that it
recognized the pytis2go py2 as a different application from pytis2go
py3. Make sure Windows firewall is disabled or has the appropriate
port tolerances. X2Go Client implementations are quite demanding on
open firewall ports.

Otherwise, I am sorry! I have no clue where to look next from remote.

Re: [X2Go-User] Removing "Suspend X2go Session.." in Ubuntu Mate desktop System Panel , 20.04

Hi,

Hello,

Ubuntu Mate System panel?

[cid:8d0d43b2-6e97-4a50-87a4-d76edbc29ab6]

In Ubuntu 18.04, this was linked with x2gomatebindings. Uninstalling
the bindings removed it. However, with Ubuntu 20.04, I could not
locate x2gomatebindings in the Ubuntu repository. I want to remove
it because we don't need it and it doesn't work well with x2go
client. Clicking on the item makes the desktop session disappear,
but the x2go client window says the session is still running and
doesn't disappear.

Thanks.

h.

The "Suspend X2Go Session..." menu item is now coded into the
corresponding MATE panel applet (via librda).

Currently, there is no "switch" to disable it, but it could be a
feature request.

The other issue is that X2Go Client does not recognize the session
suspension properly when done from inside the session, it seems.

If you open a terminal in the X2Go session and issue the command
x2gosuspend-session on the command line, do you observe the same
behaviour? (i.e. session goes away, but X2Go Client does not get it?)

This is a know issue and needs to be addressed by a new upstream

Hi Alex,

Hello guys,

Looks like my E-Mail brought some excitement into the list :) First of
all it was not my intention, I just wanted to share with you some of my

the end of the year (depending on the resources I'll have). For sure, if
some one wants to work into the same direction, you are welcome. I also
want to add some of my thoughts about NX and X2Go.
NX is obsolete. It was obsolete many years ago. Xorg is becoming
obsolete as well. And X2Go is already obsolete too, because we are
sticking to this technologies way too long. Don't understand me wrong,
those are great technologies, which will be used for many years more by
some people and companies, we should not drop their support and we
should not stop to improve them. But we also should not things like NX
slow down our development. Because majority of the users don't want NX.
They want to use modern desktops and modern applications. And they don't
care, that NX works better with legacy desktops and legacy X11 apps on
256K network, because they are not using them anyway and they have at
home in worse case 10M network and even on their cell phones they have a
good Internet connection.

@Stefan: I think it's great, that you finding sponsoring and it helps to
support the project. But we also should not forget, to separate the
wishes of our sponsors and our customers from that what is good for the
project. We can't concentrate only on that what our sponsors want,
because in this case at some point they'll be our only users. We should
also think more about future and what should we do to win new users to
the project.

All above: well said! I share your view on all points given.

At the end I want to give you some points I think I will work on in the
next one or two years:

1. Improvement of x2go kdrive: adaptive compression level, video
compression for some regions, frame dropping, etc

Nice!

2. x2gokdrive client - HTML5, Using OpenGL for image composition

Nice!

3. Finally rewrite x2go client, multi session support, x2go kdrive

Wait, for PyHoca-GUI, I'd love to have a standalone application. Maybe
provide the x2gokdriveclient as a libqt shared lib and have
(a) a command line executable wrapped around it and (b) use it in X2Go

I guess this also happens with Xephyr then but not with Xnest.

That guess goes into the right direction, I'd say. Just a few days ago

You need to wrap openboard into a "dbus-run-session", e.g.

one shell:

Xephyr -ac :1

other shell:

STARTUP=openbox-session dbus-run-session /etc/X11/Xsession

This is another cup of tea and related to systemd's Dbus integration
concept (1 user <-> 1 session, even if on multiple seats)

The charming side about the image/compression protocol behind X2Go

The broker will handle the server-side(!!!) storing and provisioning

Run "ssh -R 12345:localhost:22 user@client" on the server (see man

reverse tunnel from some port (e.g. 12345) on the client to port 22 on

Then configure X2Go Client on the client to connect to "Host:

I gave up KDE option. I have selected Custom Destop option and entered

I believe the KDE option must be updated accordion to new command..

Another issue is, the windows' menu fonts are exceptionally big even though
the contents seem proportional.. I do not know if this is relevant to the

I have seen this with "try auto login" and ssh-agent usage in X2Go

This IMHO is a bug in libssh and needs investigation.

I am trying to use XFCE now, installed the xfce desktop on my server
with "sudo apt install -y xubuntu-desktop", but when I try to start
the session, a window (black window with "X2Go" in it" just quickly

This should actually work.

X2Go Client is a bit silent about why things fail during session startup.

Please start x2goclient from the cmdline with "x2goclient --debug" and
maybe the debug output is more revealing about what is failing.

Just out of curiosity, does the X2Go session startup work from a Linux
machine (if at hand). It is always good to determine, if a problem
comes from a client or from a server.

On Linux, you can also try a session startup with heavy debugging
results using the pyhoca-cli command line client for X2Go:

  pyhoca-cli --libdebug --server --port --user
 --command XFCE

If the problem is server-side, this would be my next debugging step.

apache2 is aware of x2broker-wsgi conf but that's about it. Addressing
.../uccs/inifile returns 404, addressing .../x2gobroker returns 403.

I'm experimenting with Ubuntu Server 18.04 and with whatever is in official
x2go ppa.

Have you followed this documentation?
https://github.com/ArcticaProject/ArcticaDocs/blob/master/ArcticaGreeter/ArcticaGreeter_RemoteLogon-HowTo.md

I recommend to get the ArcticaGreeter Remote Logon working with
x2gobroker-daemon first. I in fact never tested it with the WSGI
alternative. And... WSGI support will soon be removed from Tornado
(the httpd used by X2Go Broker).

Unfortunately, the remote logon setup is quite fragile (before it runs
100%) and you can make mistakes at various places.

Please work your way through the above documentation and let me know
if any of the described steps don't work for you. Please re-post to
the ML and put my email in Cc: so that I don't miss your post.

Thanks+Greets,
Mike

What version of x2gothinclient(-management) are you currently using?
When grepping through the current code (I looked at Git master [1]), I
can't see a cp for known_hosts in x2gothinclient_create.

Hello Mike, is this the current version ?

# dpkg -l| grep x2go
ii x2go-keyring 2012.07.23+git20170305.17+9.main.1
all GnuPG keys of all X2Go developers and the X2Go archive
ii x2gothinclient-management
 1.5.0.0-0x2go1+git20181202.691+9.main.1 all Management tools for
X2Go Thin Client chroot server
ii x2gothinclientmanagement
1.5.0.0-0x2go1+git20181202.691+9.main.1 all temporary dependency
package for migration to x2gothinclient-management

thanks

Those versions should be ok. Please add "set -x" at the top of the
x2gothinclient_create script (below the copyright header) and send the
last few lines of the resulting output when you re-rung
x2gothinclient_create.

you may want to edit /etc/x2go/x2goagent.options and try to add the

If you require a throttling down of X2Go sessions when suspended,

As we cannot fiddle with user space files (~/.bashrc and such) in

Depending on the SSH server version and the PyHoca-GUI version (rather
the python-paramiko version) you might run into problems regarding the
host key types.

Old version of Paramiko supported only RSA + DSA for a long time. If
you connect to SSH to a modern server and accept the ecdsa hostkey, it
might happen that you cannot connect with paramiko anymore.

(I can't remember the exact details, but I have been there before...).

You could try to hack some Python Paramiko script together and check,
if you can SSH into the X2GoServer using Paramiko, at all:

https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/tree/master/demos

If that works, then we can start looking into Python X2Go itself.

this sounds like the .spec file of x2gobroker needs some patchwork.
The fastest way to solve this for you is getting x2gobroker sources
and build x2gobroker from source using the "mock" utility (with your
required modifications to x2gobroker.spec, probably).

Once you found a patch for the .spec file, please submit it as a bug

[X2Go-User] x2godesktopsharing applet starts multiple times in KDE Plasma if restore desktop is set

2018-12-15 Thread Mike Gabriel

Package: x2godesktopsharing
Severity: important
Version: 3.2.0.0

Hi,

I turn this thread into an official bug report...

Hi all,

I recently installed x2godesktopsharing via X2Go repositories for Debian.
The installation asked me about activate the auto-start feature (I said
yes) and enable shared desktop (I said no). When I reboot the machine in
KDE Plasma desktop I see two x2godesktopsharing applets in system tray and
the next error message is displayed (translated into english):

*The application X2Go DesktopSharing is already active for this screen*

*if it doesn't run remove /tmp/x2godesktopsharing.lock_USER@:0 and start
it up again*

I don't know about x2godesktopsharing is started because I can't find
anything in the documentation about it. I only see the file
/etc/xdg/autostart/x2godesktopsharing.desktop but I don't see any system
service (systemctl) nor KDE Plasma desktop's startup service or script.

How could I resolve this issue?

Some data about my system:

- Debian testing (amd64), kernel 4.18.0-3-amd64

- KDE Plasma 5.14.3

- x2godesktopsharing 3.2.0.0

Thanks in advance.

Hi all again,

after investigate deeper about this issue I noted that every log in in KDE
Plasma session the number of x2godesktopsharing applets were increasing in
system tray (until 5 applets or more!!).
I discovered that the restore of KDE Plasma session setting was inexplicably
resetted (may due to an update). I set it again to starts an empty session
and the problem has gone. Now it only starts only one x2godesktopsharing
system tray applet.
The setting is in KDE System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Desktop
Session -> On Login switch to "Start with an empty session" instead of
"Restore previous session".

Regards.

This looks like we should hinder x2godesktopsharing from starting a
second instance when there is one already running for the same $DISPLAY.

Of course, I'm using -broker-url with the client, but if I do not
and I create my sessions, they suspend perfectly. So whatever the
issue is, it appears to be related to broker.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please consider getting professional help, please consider reading the

The session resuming works here, with correctly set up systems (using
x2gobroker from the nightly builds).

I have the broker running on a login server and my applications
running on 3 x2go servers. Everything is working fine except for
this one thing.

I can suspend a session, and when I run x2golistsessions I am seeing
the suspended sessions in the database. But when I run the same
application the suspended session is not starting up, I am getting a
new one. I can verify that because if I run x2golistsessions while
the new session is running I see two sessions in the database.

I've tried taking two of my application servers out of the picture
and limiting it to 1, but I still see the same thing.

I've got PostgreSQL running on my broker server, and all the
application servers access it without a problem. At least I can run
x2golistsessions on all three without a problem.

If it matters, after running x2goversion on the application servers
I'm seeing this

x2goserver: 4.1.0.0
x2goserver-common: 4.1.0.0
x2goserver-extensions: 4.1.0.0
x2goserver-x2goagent: 3.5.99.16
x2goserver-xsession: 4.1.0.0

And on the broker server I see this

X2goserver: 4.1.0.2
X2goserver-common: 4.1.0.2
X2goserver-extensions: 4.1.0.2
X2goserver-x2goagent: 3.5.99.16
X2goserver-xsession: 4.1.0.2

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need the x2gobroker-agent package installed on the X2Go Server
machines and assure that broker <-> broker-agent communcation is
working.

Only then, X2Go Client will be able to resume suspended sessions.

should you ever wish to, by going to

HERE'S WHY WE BELIEVE WE MAY SEND YOU LIST E-MAILS

As we have sufficient reason to believe that you personally signed up,
due to us using a two-step (AKA "double opt-in") subscription process,
an active subscription will be taken as consent in the sense of Article
6 (1) a) and Article 7 (1) of the GDPR.

HERE'S HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, thus ending
your subscription, as per Article 7 (3) of the GDPR. To do so, please
unsubscribe using the link above. To protect against accidental or
"hostile" unsubscribing, a two-step process is also used to handle
unsubscribe requests.

HERE'S WHAT TO DO IF YOU ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS UNSUBSCRIBING

If you have difficulties unsubscribing, because the E-Mail with the
unsubscribe link isn't showing up in your E-Mail inbox, please, first
check your SPAM folder for any messages our list server may have been
trying to send you; if nothing shows up there either, please contact the
list administrators at:

HERE'S HOW WE HANDLE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS DATA

Please understand that we need to keep your E-Mail address stored in our
database for the duration of your subscription, which is a justifiable
cause as set forth in Article 6 (1) b) of the GDPR. Your E-Mail address
will be deleted from the distribution list automatically and immediately
upon unsubscribing, and may be blacklisted (thus stored permanently, but
blocked from receiving messages) either on your request, or if we notice
abuse stemming from your address.

Your E-Mail address is not shared with others, unless you actively post
to the list. If you do, it will become visible to all other
subscribers, and it may also become visible in part or fully on web
sites that offer a public archive of mailing list posts, as well as in
our own archive, which you can find here:

If you want to keep your real E-Mail address secret from the public,
while remaining subscribed, we suggest you either refrain from posting,
or subscribe with a temporary, "burner" E-Mail address you created
specifically for that purpose.

HERE'S HOW TO REQUEST MESSAGE DELETION

If you believe an E-Mail you sent should be purged from the public
archive that we operate (see the link above), please also contact the
list administrators at

Note that list administrators have no influence what other recipients of
the particular list message do with it - e.g. if others choose to mirror
contents of our list archive on their own web site, you will need to
contact them separately with your deletion request.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far, and for being a
subscriber. Have a nice day.

This is probably because the broker is currently transitioning to
python3. As always, X2Go nightly builds may be spontaneously unusable
any time. Maybe Mike#1 can provide more details.

The new broker version needs python3-wsgilog. Current Ubuntu LTS only

Ok. Good you found that.

We have a more sustainable fix for that, working for all desktop envs
/ window managers:

https://github.com/ArcticaProject/nx-libs/pull/494

With this changeset, you will be able to toggle autograb mode using
STRG-ALT-G. When enabled, all inputs end up in the nxagent session
while the pointer device hovers over it.

When toggled again, the current behaviour gets reinstated.

However, this requires some complicated test-setup using x2goserver
from Git master and nx-libs from github.com/ArcticaProject/nx-libs
(3.6.x branch).

the compat since some of my customers insist on running antique versions of

pulling teeth is easier.

Don't worry about x2goserver-pyhoca and x2goserver-compat. Both

They should be removed from X2Go Server IMHO. Even for the 4.0.1.x

No, it is not intended to replace X2Go. X2Go will continue to exist
and is currently actively maintained. Arctica Project will bring forth
a new project with similar functionality, but not as a replacement. It
will be another product, suitable as alternative to X2Go.

The group of developers partially overlaps. Also people from Qindel in
Spain (their product is called TheQVD) are involved here, too (a third
solution). The Qindel Group currently sponsors great portions of the
development done in the Arctica Project.

Hi Michael,

For debugging pyhoca, it is better to provide debug output. Use
--libdebug on the cmdline.

At another time, when I connected to a server using x2goclient, it created
a new session, rather than re-connecting to the suspended session which was
running. When I tried to connect to the suspended session, nothing
happened.

The GUI went blank and no X screen was displayed.

Questions:

1 -- How can I connect to a session which is marked as running?

I am not fully sure if that is supported (I can't remember if I
implemented that). You may try what I write further down under point
3. PyHoca-GUI has a feature called "Transfer session" which basically
is a suspend + pause a bit + resume.

2 -- How can I suspend a session which is running?

(1) from inside the session: x2gosuspend-session
(2) from external (as same user) via ssh user@server
x2gosuspend-session

3 -- How can I connect to a suspended session on a server?

Check the pyhoca-cli man page and search for "--resume".

4 -- How can I specify the session to connect to using the pyhoca-cli CLI?

See point 3.

Let's hear from the developers if it's possible to upgrade to GLX 1.3,

My latest tests have shown that KDE5 crashes at the moment because it

My sense is that KDE5 works well without GLX 1.3 (whereas GNOME3 and

As you have NX embedding working, something similar should be doable

How do you handle embedding in the NX plugin from remmina?

You can also use

  host=HostName (IP-Address)

e.g.

  host=server2 (192.168.2.52)

For load balancing

  host=server1 (192.168.2.51), server2 (192.168.2.52)

If your DNS system is whacky or DNS is different from /etc/hostname
(e.g., people connect via a gateway), then you can do this:

  host=server1 (gateway.company:22051), server2 (gateway.company:22052)

Where server1 and server2 are the actual hostnames of the X2Go Servers

Why ?

Maybe because there is a package named x2gobroker-ssh providing
/usr/bin/x2gobroker-ssh. I presume you log into the session broker as
the user who also shall launch the session (and not as the
x2gobroker system user).

That x2gobroker-ssh binary is a wrapper that sets the correct
permissions (setuid x2gobroker for all members of the group

the SSH brokerage functionality in relation with the x2gobroker-agent.

Resume+Suspend works with the broker version in the nightly builds.

It requires x2gobroker-agent to be installed on X2Go Servers.

It requires a working x2gobroker - x2gobroker-agent setup.

It requires a running x2gocleansessions script on the X2Go Servers
(which needs to be activated on non-Debian based installations of X2Go
IIRC).

It requires agent-query-mode=SSH (or LOCAL) to be set in

session profiles.

do you have the x2goserver-xsession package installed? It seems that
the session (x2goagent process) does not get cleaned-up properly.

Without debug logs, I can only guess what happens (but actually have

These commits [1,2] should fix your issue. The broker presumes that
desktop session commands (command=...) are given in uppercase letters.
I have now added code to x2gobroker, that also allows desktop session
commands to be lower or mixed case.

Nightly builds should be available within the next 24h.

Re: [X2Go-User] Newbie question: What is x2go's relationship to VcXsrv?

X2Go uses NX technology which requires an XServer on the client-side host.

In X2Go the setup is this:

  o (Windows) client-side: VcXsrv
  o client-side: nxproxy
o server-side: nxagent (aka x2goagent) (Xserver where the X2Go session
runs in).

X2Go Client bundles VcXsrv and ships it in its installer. As we
experienced long delays with security fixes in the upstream VcXsrv the
X2Go project's and the Arctica Project's (working on a remote desktop
solution write-up from scratch) team chose to maintain its own
branch/version of VcXsrv [1].

You can use VcXsrv to run local X11 and remote X11 application via the
normal X11 protocol. X2Go utilizes NX technology, which is used for
starting remote X11 application, but the NX protocol does several
things for optimizing the application's smoothness when it comes to
low bandwidth connections.

The http proxy option has not been well tested at all. It should work
in theory with some recent libssh version underneath, but it is not
getting tested regularly on new release. It may well be that a
regression in the SSH/HTTP proxy code has happened and is causing the
SSH passphrase pop up dialog on proxy connection attempts.

Yes. I think so.

Actually I prefer individual windows to be managed by the guest’s WM. So
sharing the entire desktop is not optimal. It’s what I would get with a
VNC solution as well.

Ok. I get that.

*In shadow mode, would X2Go still perform better than VNC? Or would it

It uses the Xdamage and Xtst / Xrecord extension in X11 which
basically is an X11-like VNC, I guess.

That's like adjusting DPI in X. Only some applications listen to it,
and normally it only affects font size. What I need is dumb pixel
doubling. This is also important for working with low-res desktops on
HiDPI screens, so I am optimistic that X2GO will support it one day.
NoMachine may support it already.

You could launch a session (local X11 or X2Go) and launch a second
session via X2Go desktop sharing (Connect to local desktop as
session type in X2Go Client).

In shadow mode (desktop sharing), NX 3.x can do some scaling of the

unfortunately, PyHoca-GUI does not work on Unity = 12.04 (or so).

At the moment there is no means of communication between local and

In Python X2Go (PyHoca-GUI) there is a feature called MIME type drop

But what you suggest is actually a deeper approach of

And, I am good at remembering session Ids and numbers.

multiuser-mounts via systemd.automount just by accessing the mount
point).

What is the correct location to drop the script (bash)?

I can see /usr/lib/x2go/extensions/post-start.d exists: is it intended
for this purpose?

I'd use /usr/lib/x2go/extensions/pre-runcommand.d.

If so, is it functional to use the equivalent structure in /etc/x2go
(system-wide) or even /home/user/.x2go directories?

Neither gets looked at by the X2Go Server scripts. Only
/usr/lib/x2go/extensions is relevant.

Note that this scripts are not intended to be configurable. Rather as
an extension provider for X2Go, you can drop your code into the
extensions dir (via a .deb / .rpm package).

It would be fabulous, if you could file this as a bug against

the bug, you will get informed once it is fixed (that is the advantage
of you filing the bug).

(x2goserver 4.0.1.18-5). Mac run 10.10.2 (but same problem with
10.10.0 and 10.10.1) with X2goClient 4.0.3.1-20150131 (same problem
with all version).

Problem 1: Freeze all the time after some minute of work. I need
to kill X2GOClient on Mac.

Problem 2: Shared Folder do not work. When I did “df” on Linux,
the freeze and I have timeout. Disk is mount but I can not access to
him.

You have to make sure that SSH daemon on the Mac system is running and
working.

Normally, if you never SSH'ed into that Mac, you don't have a host
key. Unfortunately, host key creation does not get triggered via X2GO
Client when sharing a client-side folder (this feature requires a
client-side SSH daemon on the Mac to be functional).

SSH into your Mac from remote just once and then chance should be
better that folder sharing works later on in X2Go Client.

Problem 3: Try print client but page never arrive on Mac...

Same issue as with folder sharing (the client-side printing feature is
a shared folder for print jobs).

So someone known good combination client/server for work with
Mac/Linux? Someone has same problem?

Basically, the Mac OS X version of X2Go Client has always needed more
love than available by the devs. The X2Go project received a donation
recently that will help getting Mac OS X issues fixed in the near
future, I hope.

That tarball is rather old. We are at 3.5.0.28 at the moment. You only

Extract that tarball and run

That should be it. See the shipped-with Makefile for details.

I observed the following:

If I configure PyHoca-GUI to use my password-protected key file

not a valid EC private key file!

If I configure PyHoca-GUI to Discover SSH keys or use SSH agent for
X2GO authentication, and then launch Pageant and load my

An unknown error occurred during authentication

Did you do the latter?

Note that I can connect to this server using password authentication.

if you launch pyhoca-gui with --libdebug from a terminal (msys Git
terminal, or cygwin shell), then pyhoca-gui will throw the unknown
exception on the command line.

It may well be, that the issue is solved in python-x2go 0.5.0.3. But not sure.

Please report back what exact exception is thrown. Can I test
pyhoca-gui on the WinBuilder machine?

Re: [X2Go-User] x2gomountdirs only after 2 minutes

mounting of /cygdrive/C/Users//X2GO~1/S-1A99~1/spool failed

As a result, not only is the session slower with logging in but also the
logout can take 20-30 seconds.

In the file:
/tmp/.x2go-/C--51-1421334287_stDMATE_dp32/sshfs-mounts.log (END)
I see:
read: Connection reset by peer

At first I was thinking the mount is not working but it does mount, after 2
minutes:

mounting of /cygdrive/C/Users/Geert/X2GO~1/S-102D~1/spool failed

Logging in on a different computer with the same user = no problem. (both
x2go clients are v4.0.3.1 on windows 8.1)

Is this anything I can (easily) resolve?

Regards,
Kristof.

the reason for this delay is a failing sshfs operation in
x2gomountdirs. I discovered that, as well, a week back or so [1].

I introduced and enforced timeout on sshfs mounting of 30s (maybe this
should be even shorter?).

This issue will be solved/worked-around in x2goserver 4.0.1.19.
