warning, this thread is moving farther and farther away from Detroit
and techno so you may want to stop here unless you want to toss around
theories about how this present hard/progressive house sound -- best
illustrated by the recent blasphemous rape of Green Velvet's Flash -- is
going to
Just to chime into this Regis/Female thread, I just heard the Karl
O'Connor/Peter Sutton Againstnature album on Tresor this morning and have
to recommend it to anyone interested in that Birmingham sound. Some words
to describe it: dense, tribal, hard, thick, industrial, manic, driving,
insane
This may be weird irony, but I was just thinking about this very topic after
seeing some headline on the cover of some UK mag and now as I tread through
the new Tall Paul mix (it's for work, not pleasure...)
For example, all the Timo Maas remixes of Green Velvet's Flash have been
getting tons of
Been hearing about this club for awhile and finally went to check it out
this past Friday with some friends. Unfortunately, when we arrived around
11:30, there were only three people in the whole club that didn't work
there. I felt a little silly for hyping up the club to my friends and then
speaking of derrick co-producing records. . . recall about a month ago
when someone posted to this list that one nite when derrick may was
spinning at temple someone (i can't remember the name) came up and spit on
may's record and (i think) removed the tone arm from the record. i

Just got the sex on the beach 2000 remix in the mail today.
From ghetto anthem to modern day soul classic.
I couldn't stop playing the Electro Funk promo CD and featured it on
previous episodes of my internet radio show Clear Radio.
If the house and techno soul jocks give this a chance

What about Claude Young? For some reason I remember him being named as an

Is this assumption correct?
I can swear I've read this sometime on this list but just want to confirm my

Can anyone point me to even the slightest bit of info regarding K. Sublis,
the individual behind the Fluxion records on Chain Reaction?
Primarily, I trying to figure out his/her first name, and city/country of
residence. I'm doing my best to piece together a short bio.

Thats a good question - but does the theory take away from the

to it? Does it make any difference? Not on the dancefloor, when I just

Can anyone out there take a minute to post the phone number for Cloud 9?
I've been meaning to investigate the place for some time but never know the
location or what's going on there. Guess I rely on flyers and Real Detroit

Thanks.

Anyone else out there heard a promo of the soon-to-be-released full-length
album by Mr. De, DJ Assault's former collaborator?
It's a pretty interesting listen. I was expecting more Ass n
Titties-style booty, but there is little of that to be found here. It's
mostly a bunch of synth-driven funk
I actually just wrote a review for the album. Here's my views:
The eighth Tresor compilation finds the Berlin label moving away from one
particular sound towards a more diverse range of styles, reflecting the
changing face of techno at the end of the 20th century. Perhaps the biggest
surprise
I think they are referring to the few songs exclusive to the compilation,
which constitute half the CD.
The two tracks you mention sound like the same ones that I've always heard.
No special remixes or anything.

Went to see Adam Beyer at Motor on Friday and couldn't believe the response
he got from the crowd. People were going nuts. Of the mostly full
dancefloor that I walked into at midnight, probably 75% stayed there and
just went manic.
It took people a good half-hour to get sucked into his hard
I actually have the Anna/Beate record and have always wondered who the

Good stuff quite similar to Brinkman's concept album. When I picked this
one up at Melodies and Memories in Detroit there were quite a few others
priced at $9.99 a piece. They come in
I went to Borders tonight to get a copy of rough guide to techno and was
sad to find out that it isn't due to be published here in the US until June.
I did stumble onto some interesting info about another book written by Tim
Barr called Brighter Daze that is also due to be published in June.
I'm writing a biographical piece on the group's music for my independant
study and am curious about the early contributions by Jeff Mills and Robert
Hood.
A) when exactly did Mills stop collaborating with Banks?
It sounds as though he was involved with the X-101 record (UR-013.5) but I'm
this is just a hoax.
guess my over-enthusiasm got the best of me.

I was in Chicago this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised when I found

Very very poor writing with no real purpose besides to boost Saunder's ego.
