I'd echo the books Baars recommended below.
Tim Barr also did the rough guide to techno book, though it wont cover much
that's not in Techno Rebels.
There's also Simon Reynolds Energy Flash. I haven't read it in decades and
though it covers some Detroit within, it drew ire from various folks

Elevate is uber pricey but most of the Rick Wade, Theo and Losoul cuts are
on other releases that won't break the bank and worth hunting down.
