Hello! Subscriber here... One of our Observium instances has stopped alerting
on the port down alert/checker. Specifically, it will still alert in ports we
had configured already when this instance of Observium was installed, but it
will not alert on any new ports we configure/add
Yeah, this ignores virtual interfaces.
This is because on most devices virtual interfaces are just duplicating
the traffic of the underlying physical interfaces.

I'm not sure how you could end up with broken permissions from an upgrade.
Observium is a web application, so /opt/observium and its contents need
to be readable by the web server. /opt/observium/rrd needs to be
writable by whatever user runs the poller.

You're trying to do the matching in the wrong part of the alert config.
The test conditions is not a suitable place
Adjust poller threads, check if unneeded modules are acitivated i.e.
fdb-tables, use rrdcache, optimize mysql server.
We are running Observium on a VM with 24 cores (40% used), 64gb ram (70% used)
with 916 devices, 33k ports and poller is finishing still below 300 seconds

Have you tried adding a new user and logging in with that?
Logging in to the terminal is completely different to logging in to the
observium web ui. Observium doesn't use local system authentication and
maintains its own user database.
You're not trying to log in to Observium with your Linux

We were using the following to track the flows thru the 3 interfaces that
connect to our ISP:
$config['frontpage']['custom_traffic']['ids
NULL
(Obviously replace low for high on the other check)

This is a PHP 8 incompatibility.
You can manually change count() to safe_empty() in
includes/discovery/sensors/old-dnos-boxservices-private-mib.inc.php on
lines 14 and 15
This is already fixed in the current versions, though.
