There is some kind of problem. Sound is playing, but I can't change volume
levels? There is no diffrence if I use Alsa or oss plugins. Maybe someone
had tehsame problem?

/var/log/messages when plugging in the device? It should work, I have
it working here both with 2.6.1 and with 2.4.22. But you might need to
upgrade you ALSA system: I use 1.0.1/1.0.2 here.

I've gotten a little more information on my asym problems after setting
things up with the dmix and dsnoop plugins I had defined, instead of just
the example given. The error message is now different, depending on
whether I start aplay or arecord first. Maybe that's progress? :)
